now to our GMA cover story Bachelorette Jen Tran she promised us an unprecedented ending to her series to her season and she was right she left Hawaii engaged but she did not get her happily ever after on The Bachelorette Jen is now here in Time Square with us but before we catch up with her take a look this morning a bachelorette finale that no one saw coming he called me and he basically broke off the engagement Jen Tran heartbroken after her choice Devon Stater called off their engagement he basically said that he didn't love me anymore and didn't feel the same way and Jan going into the finale with two men to choose from Marcus sherg and Devin Jen picking her man and proposing to him Devon trator will you please make me the happiest girl in the world and marry me but the engagement falling apart when Devon realized he could not be the man Jen had hoped for I found myself falling short of those expectations in the real world and I found myself not being able to live up to the things that you need and you deserve Jen ultimately standing up for herself and her decision I do not regret proposing to that man on there but what happened was that man doesn't exist anymore and the truth of the matter is I'm still that same woman I am she sure is Standing Tall jent Tran joining us live right now good morning to you good morning it was hard to watch for me I can't imagine how you were doing last night yeah it definitely was a moment that I had been wanting to happen for the past month you know I just needed to get that out off of my chest and start a clean slate and and move on with my life can you fill our viewers in on the timeline here because you were just explaining to me behind the scenes absolutely so Devon and I had gotten engaged back in May um and we had just broken up about a month ago um and since then it's kind of just been off and on and and whatnot so it was nice to kind of get the closure that I finally needed last night you looked so happy when you asked him to marry you what can you share if you're comfortable with what changed yeah I I mean with me nothing had changed with me I was so happy I was so ready to start our life together um but I had realized that his energy had shifted and his priorities had shifted and um he wasn't the same person was on the show as um off of the show and and yeah how soon did you realize that um it was pretty immediate that I started noticing the efforts that were different and the inconsistencies and the things that he were he was promising me and then not fulfilling um but you know I I I said maybe it's just the show it's it's been a lot coming off of the show so I gave Grace with that and I think over time you know just realized that his heart just wasn't in it anymore yeah okay you were the first woman to propose you said that you have no regrets about that do you still believe that you still standing by that absolutely you know I proposed to a man who promised me um a fulfilling life a loving partnership and a marriage that I had always wanted so I am very confident in knowing that that is still what I want unfortunately he just wasn't the man that he had um talked himself up to be but I would be so lucky to find another man who would be able to fulfill those promises well maybe you will because you're going to be very busy and around a lot of people first I want to just show everybody um this take a look at this do we have a picture of Jen what what you went through um oh well that's one of the pictures but you you were on a plane all night long to get to us because you are putting down your rose and putting on your dance shoes as one of the celebs on Dancing With the Stars we are so excited about that yes so I think you're going to be great thank you so much I've actually always wanted to learn how to dance so this is kind of like a dream come true honestly you do not know how you don't have any ballroom training I took one Ballroom class in college and I got credit for it so you know that counts all right all right so you're you're like um you're like a beautiful piece of of clay ready to be molded and you have a great Pro um all right we're going to we're going to watch we're going to cheer you on we'll talk more later
