Flight attendants authorize strike

ahead of the start of the busy travel weekend United Airlines is bracing for a potential strike yeah crew members saying they're underpaid and they're demanding change ABC's Ranon alley explains what the airlines need to do to prevent that strike 99.99% voted yes to authorize a strike turbulence at United Airlines flight attendants voting over overwhelmingly to authorize a strike United recently announced profits are up more than 20% workers are demanding a share of some of those gains we have been in three years of negotiations with very minimal progress from a corporation that is making billions on the backs of their Frontline workers United's 28,000 flight attendants have been in mediation with the company for months they won a double digigit pay raise we have some people living in cars it's time to fix that the median pay for flight attendance is just over $68,000 but a firste worker can expect as little as 23 to $32,000 depending on the airline some say they're struggling to feed their families and they say their jobs are only getting harder with more unruly passengers in recent years crew members from various Airlines have been seen breaking up brawls or enduring physical violence themselves United airl line says we remain eager to reach an agreement to be clear there is no work stoppage or labor disruption Ranna Al ABC News New York well the union says if no deal is reached the earliest a strike could happen is toward the end of this year
