County Central Labor Council celebrated Labor Day with food, fun and fellowship at Lindsay Park. The council hosted their first Labor Day picnic since the COVID-19 pandemic where all ages were invited to join a crowd of around 100 people were in attendance including multiple organizations and labor unions. Clara Clarita Allen is the president of the Smith County uh Council who said Labor Day is well deserved for so many hard workers. We're so happy to get a group out today to celebrate Labor Day. It's a very important day. It's a day of relaxation for people that is in the workplace that's worked the whole year to have a day off and to celebrate labor before it was a federal holiday. Labor Day was recognized by labor activists in individual states. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated way back in 1882 in New York City. The big apple. Oh man.
