e [Music] welcome welcome welcome to another edition of the blue review now this one guys is going to be a lot of fun I'm just going to say it straight up this is going to be a mailbag episode so everyone in the chat you could see right below me it's going to look like this send in your questions send Greg all the questions cuz he is going to be here answering like he used to back in the back in the starting days of blue review whatever you want to call it Dodgers that's right that's right and so basically I started off doing this for Dodgers nation in 2016 2017 and it was a postgame show and all I did was just talk to the chat whatever the chat had I would talk to them and we would just go back and forth and with you having you can explain what you're doing but you have to go and leave me and Marcus had a meeting at the NFL Network for his real job uh it's we're going to go back to that we're going to get back to uh the old school style no I'm I'm excited to see this one but yeah like Greg said I have some work to do unfortunately chat um don't hop in there saying let Parker play I don't want to hear any of it I got a prep for we have an exciting um event tomorrow uh the 11th annual espnla Golf Classic of course celebrating you know just uh with the V foundation and a tons of good stuff over there so I got to prepare for that as well as some other things so I will hop off and Greg will be in here and if you guys aren't sending in questions Greg's just going to be yapping so we want to talk to ashers so sending those questions okay but before we do and before I head it with Marcus it's those pitchers like Griffin canning who just come in and out of nowhere just wreck the Dodgers um so listen they've lost four out of the last 16 games the Dodgers still I believe have the best record in the league I'll have to double check on that but it's still looking good you're going to lay an egg every now and then I have nothing to say because I can't even say I'm an angels fan right now I'm gonna put that right out there it's all Dodgers I'm thinking you're a Dodger fan now just say it say you're a Dodger fan blue listen Will Smith is he G to be the biggest X Factor that's my question to you heading towards the playoffs in April he slashed I think it was 362 403 and 543 every other month since he hasn't batted over 215 so could he be the the xfactor going into the playoffs or maybe it's just the pitching I don't know you'll get into that this episode um but that was my biggest question outside of that go blue I mean it was not a good vibe over there in Anaheim last night so if anyone was there say uh you know say what it was like over there but uh that's all I have I appreciate you guys um Graham Anthony producers in the back I'll be here listening all right you're vamping here you're you're just going on I take over whenever you want I'll answer your question and you can go step off to the side you're good I'm W I'm waiting for questions to pop up as well don't don't don't worry about it I got it this is I do this this is what I did for so long it's no problem for Parker thank you very very much and yes will will Factor being an xfactor yes that is somebody that can absolutely be an xfactor because he is but it's not always just about the bat for Will Smith it's guys are not able to run on him anymore that was such a huge problem for them last year that especially you look at the Diamondbacks they were a team that ran all over the Dodgers last year they were they were fast and quick and they were able to just steal those bases and became and it then keeps those line that line moving around instead of a a hit getting you from first to second a hit gets you to second to third or even home so that's him being able to throw out Runners to me is a massive X Factor thing because he's one of the best if not the best in major league baseball this year I think he's either tied for first or he's tied for second but he's somewhere right wrong along the lines that in throwing out base runners at second base I do think the bat will come alive the bat is starting to be something that he's hitting balls hard he's getting under he's really starting to find spots he had a three-run home run the other day he's getting doubles the ball is traveling a lot further and being hit harder than it has been in the last couple of months so I think he's going to get back to who he is so just so we know exactly what's going on here today and I was trying to explain it to you as well this is what I'm going to do today I have done this so many times in the past that was this how I got into Dodger these podcasts or live streams what whatever you want to call them in 2016 2017 I started with Dodgers Nation doing Dodger postgame shows the G the game would end I'd immediately pop on and just talk to the chat I did it with dodger blue for a long time as well and I started doing it here at ESPN postgame shows before I got promoted into the assistant program director and couldn't do it anymore and now since we're doing this live stream this is just a a throwback episode I'm going just off of what you guys got here in the chat and so I see a couple things in here and immediately let's go right into there and by the way I was talking to Graham before the show started and I was trying to find a way if we could actually send you guys link and links and be able to jump on with me but I just don't think it's possible because you guys are I who can we can I can I trust you guys I don't think so you know the going you might just go on a random other live stream so we'll find I'm I'm going to try and figure out a way so that I can get you guys to actually jump on the live stream with like a onetime link that goes away and I think that would be really cool moving forward in case something like this happens especially during the postseason I think that would be a really fun thing to add into there anyway Tony forkus was on here says could the Dodgers start one of the postseason games as a bullpen game Tony I'm gonna tell you this if if the Dodgers start one of their games as a bullpen game the Dodgers are in trouble because they have the starting pitching that they need to get in the postseason I the only way I can see a a bullpen game in that kind of situation is that Clayton Kershaw is the starter in a game four let's say and he gets rocked in the first inning and then you have to go then it's a full Bullpen going I don't think they'll ever start with a opener like they've done for everything because you can't you're not GNA start an opener with Gavin Stone you're not GNA start it with Yamamoto you're not going to start it with Flare if G if glas now is available you're not going to do it with that so I again if you're having a bullpen game to start a postseason game that means the Dodgers are in massive massive trouble with their pitching staff and Walker beer is not going to continue on the path that he's been the last couple games Bobby Miller is going to look like he did last night there so that would be a problem to me and I would not feel good about that game in the slightest uh Mr classic says man this postseason pitching audition is getting stale but it's part of the process of just glad we didn't have any injuries yesterday that's the biggest thing yeah absolutely no injuries it's but Bobby Miller is now getting into a situation where he's going to be in trouble if he has he is going to get one more start I have already seen that Dave said that he's gonna get one more start he's gonna get it against the Cubs next week and if this if he the inconsistencies especially at this time of year you cannot have if you want to be on this rotation and you want to be a postseason pitcher now M and when you do these things in a first inning like he did when he got smacked around in the first inning that also takes away any opportunity you have to be a long reliever or something along those lines because if you're not getting out of the first inning you're not showing the stuff in the first inning then what good are you later on in other games so you're then you take away your Tony for Kush that you take away a Bobby Miller opener and you take away uh just being on in coming out of the bullpen so Bobby Miller is really fighting for his life next week or fighting for his postseason life next week if he does not get it done he's very much going to go down and he's he's basically done for this year we're going to have to just kind of hope and pray that he's better next year but we'll see what his start looks like next week but I mean the inconsistencies I think I saw it was either four or five different starts this year besides the injuries that he has had um he's given up five or more runs that's a problem and it doesn't it doesn't bode well for his future on this postseason roster uh we got let's see what we got here uh Ruben Flores here come the Nega NES that's Dodger fans just Dodger fans in general are usually negative NES uh don Rob what is our honest pitcher rotation a month from now realistically I realistically believe that is going to be the big three I realistically think that Tyler glass now will be available and will be a starting rotation so in that I I do fully believe it's going to be Tyler glasnow Yoshi noi Yamamoto and Jack flarity and after that it's if if Kershaw does not come back from this toe thing and get at least one or two starts where he looks good it will be Gavin Stone as your fourth starter so but that's the first three are the most important and you got to remember the nlds is one that it's there's time off in between each game so you can go with a three-man rotation it's in it's in a certain point um that we'll get to Mr classic in just a second but it's it's you can go through three men you can go glas now Yamamoto flare in the first round um and in in the NLCS that's when you can bring in the stone and those other types of guys because you can go back to glas now after that uh to this Mr classic post that uh that Parker sorry excuse me Graham that Graham put up here glas now flare Yamamoto Stone period I understand why you think that but if you take I put Yamamoto in the two spot and I put it for a very specific reason that I want him pitching at home I think that is important for him to with since he's been out for so long and how he's been pitching we we don't know what he's GNA pit look like next week if he's pitching well I'd like to see him rather at a a on a home start than on a away start and that's why Flair I would prefer flarey in that three so you have the right idea Stone most likely but I'm going to tell you again over and over again if Clayton Kershaw is on the postseason roster and that is still very much up for grabs if K Kershaw is on the postseason roster he is a starter he is not a bullpen guy so will not go stone with um as the starter they would go Kershaw and stone would piggyback that's my opinion they have they choose to tell me I'm wrong very often but I just can't see them ever saying Stone into Kershaw instead of Kershaw into stone it just doesn't make sense to me uh all right so let's see what we got here I got ber five yeah there's not really gonna be a five there bergy flipping out on Dodgers nation was classic loved it Danny Cortez yes thank you I appreciate that and what he's talking about was it was in 2018 and the Dodgers were playing the uh the Dodgers were playing the Red Sox in the World Series I think it was a 31 series or was a 2-1 it was a 2-1 series and Rich Hill was on the mound I might have have my timing mied up nexted up richill was fantastic he was at like 80 pitches in the seventh inning and he hadn't given up anything he was amazing and I know everyone says that he gave up the ball and he walked away and whatever it was he was fantastic they pulled him they lost and that is it was such a mistake I lost my mind on it and was just freaking out on Dodgers nation and it you know it did pretty well that that episode actually did did Pitch go over very well all and Graham helped me out with every once and a I'm just gonna start looking through it Denny Cortez I'm so glad I ended up not going last night yeah you better be I'm glad I didn't didn't get to also uh Roy Estrada this is actually a good thing for the Dodgers batting battl into the playoffs is great I agree with you there's still five games up on it might be four and a half now up on the Padres but yes it is a good thing how it's going because they need to pitch well but also we've talked about it too man like it's something that they have gone in what was it 2017 they had the worst September I've ever seen from a baseball team going into the postseason and didn't think they were going to win another game they went to the World Series and pro and should have won it instead of besides some cheating then in other other years they've been fantastic in September and they go in hot and all of a sudden they flame out in the first round so it just really depends on what's going on they've also battled against the Giants where they lost the division almost on the last day of the season and they lost in they lost in the NLCS so it really how they played going into the postseason doesn't matter it just matters how it how much uh they're playing well at that time Brian Amad says Angel 75 Dodgers 73 all time it's very much been like that it always feels like Angels just beat the Dodgers and it's how it goes it's just how it goes sometimes um starting off first inning you cannot lose confidence Mr classic yes very much so uh so what round will the Dodgers now out Big O hey come on sockman they are going to the World Series I still fully believe that Anthony gex uh Miller threw a lot of the change up in slider was not trying to go fastball heavy more of a schematic thing that the pitching staff wanted to see from him him trying to protect his arm oh yes it very much might might have been but he's try he was his his fast ball was getting hit so he was trying to throw a lot more of other pitches to keep them off balance and he just got blasted away he even said postgame that you know the these were good fastball pitchers and I was throwing the the wrong type of I was throwing the bad I was throwing bad pitch it was bad pitch selection and he doesn't he did say he feels really good still so kind of gives you hope for next week but those are things things that you can't let happen against some bottom of tier team in the Angels you have to be able to dominate in those situations if you want to be pitch against a good team in the postseason and that's not what it was so it does not give any type of you know good feelings towards Dave Roberts and and the uh the Dodgers because you can't have those types of outings especially in September those are the wrong times to have him so he's got another one he will have another start but it's just he really got to pick it up uh can Kevin km hit enough to stay with the team from C Craig osberg yes 1,00% yes I don't it's not about how much he hits either they can they feel like they can get away without his his hitting at the bottom of the lineup they feel that his defense means so much more and that's the way that this team we were talking a bunch about it yesterday that this team is really built their their postseason roster around defense and how much defense matters for this team and how matters in the postseason they want to make sure that they're not having issues with for starting pitchers of God if if just the defense was better we maybe we could have gotten out of you don't want a situation like just what happened just recently where Will Smith had a brain fart and he didn't throw to first base and Max mzy had a had an error uh against what was that that was against the Diamondbacks is that right was it the Diamondbacks my brain's a little fuzzy but whoever was against would that so that you can't have those it's the Orioles you can't have those types of outings when then give up runs because that's going to cause you to lose games in the postseason so Kevin kme is a guy that is a gold glove center fielder and probably the best defender on this team period right now so he is going to be on the lineup no he's gonna be in the roster no matter what he's gonna get hits every once a while he also does something that I really like that we haven't seen and you people in the chat and you and all you fans us Dodger fans say why don't we bun why don't we bun in certain situation Kevin kerm is the guy that you want bu bunting in those situations he's very good at it he also can bunt for hits he just has the right right timing for everything that he needs to do so yes he is going to be on he is going to be on the postseason roster and he absolutely deserves to be there um Knack does this too I'm not sure what you're talking about Mr classic but I can really see Landon Knack getting a start on Friday they don't they have not announced who the starter is and if you see who the starter is please tell me in the chat who it is uh but I could see Landon Knack being up oh do you see Knack coming up and pet being part of the postseason roster part of the postseason roster but as a long reliever yes I do see it I don't see it as a starting pitcher but I could see him being instead of Justin reesi is who I thought was going to be that but you saw how he looked on Sunday and these games in at the end of August and early no and early September really really matter so I can see Landing coming up and being a part of that postseason uh Bullpen and being a long reliever I do think I me personally I bring him up on Friday and let him start that game against the Guardians on Friday he every time he's come up he's pitched pretty well and to a point that he's able to pitch well and I think that's another kind of audition thing for that he's is are you going to be on the postseason rocker roster so we'll see what that if that happens but it's going to be something that we have to look forward to uh Roy Estrada Miller does not have command nor understands pitch sequence he needs to go back to Ground Zero um I'm not sure if that's the way if I agree with that but yes he does need to go back to probably go back down to Triple A if he doesn't have a good outing if it's kind of like with Walker beer you get there's one more chance that's one more chance there one more chance and Miller gets one more chance especially because you need it right now with glas now not being up reesi didn't do well uh whoever the starter is going to be on Friday you have no Kershaw so you kind of need starters right now and that's why ber keeps going for Roy St is that certain that it's Knack starting Friday that's who I would go with so I'm glad if that's the case I'm very very uh glad about that as well uh BC he was Doug and Jeff before Doug and Jeff uh yeah kind of if you're talking about Jeff Spiegel and Doug McCain yes I was that person before any of them I was it was Doug McCain has built Dodgers Nation to a whole another level that I could never have gotten into I think he does a fantastic job and that's why we bring him here on to the blue review but yes uh I was doing it before Doug McCain and before Jeff Spiegel on um on over at Dodger blue I did I did it at Dodger blue before Jeff Spiegel as well but he again took it to a whole another level that I wasn't going to bring it to and Jeff is fantastic I love bringing him on here too those two are very very good at what they do uh let's see Bergman no you can't trust the fans on YouTube live that's that's based on whether we give you a think we've been talking about it Berg announced the time change the blue review more okay JF I will announce it again but I usually do that the end of the game at the end of the show but yes the blue riew next week starting Monday with all the lineup change and everything moving up an hour we are the blue review is starting at 8:30 a.m. please be here at 8:30 a.m. in the morning that's when we're going to be here and we're going to still lead into Travis and DeMarco the new show Travis and DeMarco but 8:30 a.m. no longer 9:30 8:30 a. if you want your Dodger talk and this is the place to be if you want your Dodger talk first thing in the morning thank you to LAX for all of that as well uh Clumsy Chrissy is there an update on Yamamoto Andor glass now coming back yes Chrissy there is an update on Yamamoto Yamamoto is going to start next Tuesday against the Cubs so he is now back he is back in the rotation and it's going to be so so nice to see him this is what we were talking about yesterday with Marcus is that I don't think after his after his outing on Wednesday he went two innings and through what I think it was like 35 40 pitches whatever happened to be that is the way that from now he has he is going he doesn't need to have any more rehab starts he had two doesn't matter I don't care how many pitches he thre how many innings he went he needs to get Major League hitters out in September so he can be ready to get Major League hitters out in October so him coming back up is absolutely the way that it should be and I'm very very glad this what's going on Ryan TR great show dude if Yamamoto can't go deep who do you like in wrong long relief well I think it's really going to come down to guys like um Landon neck and I'm also gonna throw out another name to you it's if if Walker bu wants to make the rotation this if Walker buer wants to make the postseason roster that could be a space for him to do that he because it really depends on Gavin Stone how Gavin Stone pitches over the rest of the week and and and also uh Clayton Kershaw but if Gavin Stone continues to pitch well if Clayton Kershaw comes back and pitches well those two guys are going to get the starts over Walker berer I feel unless unless Walker starts to look like he has his last two starts if Walker Breer starts the rest of the SE the rest of the September off and pitching like he has he can take over that number four spot and you know it's crazy for me to say that since especially since I was saying that he should either get thrown on the 60-day iil or be DF at some point but if he continues to pitch like that and he looks like he can get Major League hitters out with that devastating curveball that he's been throwing and keeping guys off balance with his cutter then I think that he could maybe take over that fourth starter spot but Gavin Stone Landon Knack and even Walker Breer could be guys that I see in a long relief situation I don't think Justin robbles is going to get that anymore but again Landon Knack is another is the guy that I most likely see being that long reliever if he can pitches well every when he comes back up um Brett Honeywell can actually do it too he can go a couple Innings as well so that's another thing that they can get into oh I'm gonna go all the way to the bottom I know there's other questions in here but we got got a little bit very thank you very much chat you were we are on fantastic today P really pulling stuff out there so Graham if you got like one or two more one probably one more question that you see that would be a very good one for that but I dropped all the way to out the to the bottom because I got lost back up higher on the chat uh how many did Bobby Miller strike out yesterday eight he struck out eight guys yesterday so he still had to strike out stuff but that was not enough for that that he needs he also gave up way too many runs and that's just not something that can happen I'm not GNA talk about Dave vess he I think he does a very very good job last night uh or Dave was pretty hard on him last night he was he said Bobby Miller wasn't being honest with the club about his lingering injury well that's something interesting if he's not being honest then he shouldn't even get that second start if that's a case if that really comes out because it's said that he is going to get this another start against the Cubs next week and if that's the truth then he should go down immediately I don't really like hearing that at all um I don't know I didn't know you were on the Dodgers training okay you guys are talking to each other sorry I took the wrong thing there how good are the Guardians actually I think that's what we're going to find out Anthony it really because this is a big series for the Dodgers uh coming up because they are one of the better teams in baseball and one of the best teams in the American League they could they could be smoking mirrors or they could actually be a very very good team they have a fantastic closer in Emanuel class they have good starting pitching they have good hitters this is and Stephen Quan is maybe the best hitter in the National in the American League just get by getting on base kind of like a l Luis arise type so this is going to be an interesting series but I think the Dodgers have done very very well this uh this season so far against the American League so I feel pretty good about it but we'll see what it's going to be look like and and we'll talk about it on Monday I am not going to be here tomorrow I'm at the espnla GO golf classic so hopefully we can have somebody else coming on here and doing this with hopefully it's a a Marcus and hopefully it's uh Parker Bell but thank you guys in the chat that was awesome thank you for very
