Los Angeles Raiders Rams Rams I don't can't we were up early don't worry about it they're all all those West can't read can't talk really good qualities for a show Los Angeles Rams at the Detroit Lions it was a fun game last night though 26 un no overtime big win for Detroit I think they needed it statan win they're a team that's got Super Bowl aspirations you picked them to be Super Bowl champs yes I did I also picked them to be Super Bowl champs so needed this one baby needed it uh we'll go to the top five for the Detroit Lions we can kick it off there because oh buddy we got a good one at the very top Aiden Hutchinson 94.0 my def my Defensive Player of the Year pick we're off we're off to a good start looks good already man we're g we're going to dig into him in a second get into his performance running back David Montgomery was next 86.6 wide receiver Jameson Williams huge game for J Mo 83.4 Graham glasow 82.2 at number four and then Alex angelone all over the field did he have like 13 tackles last night something crazy like that everywhere it felt like you couldn't watch a play without a minute Gator great love see it uh 79.0 grade as the fifth highest graded Lions player Jared gof earning a 43.2 it was tough for it it was kind of tough for both these quarterbacks both these defenses were playing really really well the offenses weren't quite in sync Rams were dealing with a lot of injuries and we know that the Lions can play better than they played last night so I think you see that reflected a little bit in Jared goff's overall grade but you flip to the other side Los Angeles Rams their safety John Johnson the third at 91.5 overall grade to lead all players Kobe Durant the cornerback back 82.7 Edge rusher Jared verse the rookie getting here at number three 75.5 overall grade safety cam curl coming in at 74.5 and then Cooper cup monster day he needed it with pukan niua going out early parts of that game uh he finished with a 71.2 overall grade and then Matthew Stafford you see that there as well just two really good defenses out there on the field last night 51.8 overall grade for Matthew Stafford what's the stat the told the story here for you do for me it was about this Lions offensive line taking over the game and you look at the splits their run blocking grades as a team first half 58.8 second half in overtime 77.7 and they ran the ball on seven of those eight overtime plays this is the one team may maybe more than any other team in football right and Jared G Jared GF had had that that low grade in the 40s if you asked if you asked me hey pick a team that's that can win when they quarterback grades in the low 40s like that and he just has a bad day I might pick the Detroit Lions because of this offensive line because of this running game they were just spectacular once they found their groove up front again it's it's the best offensive line in football I I don't do we have any questions about any other units where you'd go yeah that's the best offensive line of football and and the way that they just sometimes step on the gas with jir Gibbs and how good was David Montgomery in this game running behind him running physical Gibbs running physical between the tackles too this is a team who's their run game I think more than any other team in the league can just take games over and and and Jared gofin just turn around and hand the ball off on a night when he wasn't very good um that's the reason they won this game is because their offensive line flipped the switch in the second half and found who they really are and they just dominated up front and gassed out the RS yeah very clearly we saw that uh in overtime certainly there's no doubt about it the sa told the story for me is is is what made this an incredible game down the stretch fourth quarter Stafford man I mean it was it was tough for Stafford in the early parts of the game you got to give context to the offensive line I think by the end of the game they had two of their scheduled starting offensive Lan who are still in the game you know Steve goes out a bunch of other guys go out like it was it was tough I think that Kevin doson and Jonah Jackson were the only two starting offensive linemen who are still in the game by the time that we were getting to the fourth quarter they had bo limmer in at Center who was a fifth round or six round pick out of Arkansas I mean that's where they were at it was was they had a day three pick starting at Center for not starting but so obviously that's it's that's it's tough for anybody but Stafford continued to play better as the game went on despite the injuries and his highest graded core was that fourth quarter and I think certainly the um throw where he just goes crossbody defender in his face like all the way across the line of scrimmage for a first down I mean that was nuts to get that drive started uh and to really continue to put the pressure on the Detroit Lions so I I think that we saw some magic from Stafford and it just reminds us that last year really good PFF grades from him one of the better PFF passing grades that we had last season I think that that is still going to continue into this season as well now that obviously the offensive line in front of him's got to get healthy you got to hope the receivers are all right as well but he was he was fantastic in this game what about a most impressive and a most disappointing I'll tell you what we we talk a lot we heard a lot on Thursday night about how in the world did the Chiefs let Xavier worthy go or we're going to talk about that in a minute too go to the Chiefs right how did the league let the Chiefs get Xavier worthy Jameson Williams could have that same effect on the Lions they they needed they needed one more guy and and if he's going to be that one more guy the speed guy obviously amanra St Browns an underneath guy and Sam laor is great but they needed one more ver threat and Jameson Williams showed it to 134 total yards a touchdown and an 83.4 overall grade this is The X Factor not just for this offense maybe this entire team I know we've talked about the secondary if Williams is this guy if he's number two if he's a guy that on any play can house a touchdown like he was at Alabama because finally finally just starting a season with a normal after a normal offseason no no injury no suspension no nothing we're just playing week one we're playing football if Jameson Williams now becomes the guy that made him a high first round pick I I I think this is the best offense in football I I if if he if he plays like he played last night I think they're the best offense in football they have the best offensive line you have a quarterback I'll go to most disappointing because the crazy thing was Jared G was just not good in this game and the one thing that we know about Jared G when he's protected he's Elite last year 93.4 clean pocket passing grades second in the NFL behind Josh Allen last night a 34.4 it's very uncharacteristic to see Jared G when he is protected and he still was last night for the most part to see him just struggle to make throws I don't expect that to continue I I fully expect golf to be better I think there is an element here of the Rams last game last season came against the Lions and they had just played and it's so recent that the rematch is I think there was some schematic like elements that played into it and the Rams defense there were some players that played really well you mentioned Jared verse and cam curl maybe they're just better all the way around even without Aaron they won't be better without Aaron Donald yeah yeah yeah I'm glad you CAU yourself but right yeah I can't say that but if the secondary Aaron Donald doesn't play safety so guys like cam curl and guys like that on the back he probably could honestly if I yeah I would retire if I ever saw that um but yeah Goff wasn't even good last night they found a way to win and Williams was a huge reason he's the X Factor maybe in in a Super Bowl run honestly uh my most impressive it has to be Aiden Hutchinson he had a sack in this game he had nine pressures and an insane 47.8 passers win percentage just unbelievable you mentioned it could be a defensive player of the year type of campaign for Aiden Hutchinson boy did it get start did it start off hot last night uh he absolutely ate in this game and look the most disappointing to me is the Rams offensive line but to be honest like you give some context to it a lot of those guys were banged up it was really tough for them anyways and so I I I don't even love saying that they were the most disappointing it was just a unit that no one on the offensive line had a pass bling grade above 45 the injuries are going to be a problem and the injuries were obviously were tough but like even you know when the guys were it was just even the two starters of of um Kevin Dawson and Jonah Jackson nobody had a pass blocking grade above 45 on the entire offensive line starters or the guys that came in it just that's disappointing no matter how you slice it even with the context which we wanted to make sure that we gave um I see in the chat Walt is is uh talking about Matthew Stafford's interception he threw in the end zone right before the first half ended I genuinely don't think he saw the defender because the defender cuz the lons were in all blue last night right oh with the wallall with the wall the The End Zone was the all blue color and the wall behind him was the all blue color and if you watch the tape of it Matthew Stafford throws the ball and then it gets picked off and you see him he like he like puts up his hands like he just the ball just stops in thin yeah I I I honestly I don't think he saw the defender which hey it's HomeField Advantage baby you got to improve in coverage somehow you got to get the yeah yeah it's home home field advant see now here's the thing if we see them play a road game and they're significantly worse in coverage we have to ask ourselves you know is is the league going to ask them hey I need the walls behind behind the end zones I I wouldn't do it if I was l i mean if if it's not if they're hosting a playoff game they get to say no no no we won this we deserve this I mean you know it's just other you know color Rush jerseys the same as the wall every week just wear the all Blues every we% 100% then all the fans the blue out you know whatever see now now you're talking yeah it's just like marketing home field advantage
