Jannik Sinner Press Conference | 2024 US Open Quarterfinal

if you would your thoughts on the win yeah tough match obviously but happy to be to be the next round obviously we know we knew each other quite well so um was a tough match and I'm very happy thank you one question each Zach Zach braz your post have you able to just you know with everything that was going on entering this tournament with you know the positive tests and all that other stuff how are you able to kind of stay focused and not let the other stuff distract you yeah I have my team and my people who are close to me you know they they they know me they uh you know it's it's I always stick with the people who who know me and and believe me so it's um it's a very important part and obviously I'm I'm very happy to have them you know um coach wise and also off the court and um and yeah um obviously in the beginning was a bit uh was a tough situation but you know day by day it went it went better so um yeah I'm happy about that and uh let's see now in the S is what what I can do okay right there keep um you've come to the net more than usual I if I'm not wrong um even if you missed your first Ser you come you you have the intention to go to the net in the first and the third Set uh can you explain me the the strategy also the Ser volley and was it according to to you the key uh to have the control take the control of the match in this first set and in the third set also no I think there were many keys today you know tactically and uh obviously starting with break up in the first and third you know it helps you a little bit with the confidence you know that what he has done then in the second set but I had you know some some break points to break back I couldn't and um it's it helped me also mentally to to stay there in every moment so um happy how how I hand the situation it's very tough against him and um and yeah I think it's it was a was a great match from from both sides I think the fourth set was then more uh more tough you know like because you know the scoreboard was a bit different so but no um all things considered I'm very very happy and uh let's see what I can do now in the semis y can you talk about your friendship with Jack who you play next yeah we know each other quite well so it's uh it's kind of interesting to see you know um they made before a question if if if I played right in in juniors against him uh I don't remember um but I saw him for sure uh we were not friends there yet but you know after I we played in Queens and yeah it's going to be a tough match he he hasn't lost one set yet um he's playing great he's serving great I saw also the match today he's hitting very very strong so it's going to be tough match but I'm I'm looking forward to it and hopefully it's going to be a good match Charlie I just want to ask how you kind of you're the only person now left with the Grand Slam title um in the men's draw big favorite how do how do you feel about that tag does that affect kind of you know everyone whoever is in quarters or in semis or or on round of 16 it deserves to be there um you know you no win is granted you know you always have to find a solution against each opponent and I think that's what I try to do and now you know the matches are bit different you know same is you know the feelings is you know before the matches and they're different I'm lucky that I played already with this kind of feelings but um let's see you know it's it's it's going to be very interesting to see I'm I'm happy to be in this position trying to trying to play some great tennis and as I said Jack is playing some some amazing tennis maybe you know the best tennis he he's playing until now so it's going to be a tough one all we'll take a couple more in English um I know you might not remember but Jack said he remembers playing you in doubles under 18 and and you he thought you were the weaker player he wanted to hit it to you not your partner you you might not remember that match but what are your memories of him as a Junior and and being maybe the not the strongest player as a junior in juniors I was never good so um but I don't I I don't remember playing against him in doubles um but I do remember seeing him from outside um you know obviously left it's also tough to see um or there are less leftist than than righst and he he had you know his ball striking was always very very good and uh was nice to share the court with him in in doubles uh in uh in Montreal um you know we got to know each other even more um we you know we text each other when we have good or bad times you know trying to to keep us up and yeah it's a it's a great friendship obviously we try to put this away for for the hours we are on court um uh I think that's that's quite obvious but you know it's it's when we we shake our hands it's uh it's again friendship back and and and all is going to be good um but yeah it's I don't remember so many things when I was Juniors I also because I didn't play so many so it's yeah all right willly last question English you just spoke about Jack Draper how would you describe what you admire most about his game and what you think is the most difficult to deal with he serves great hits the foreign grade um backand very solid you know he's all around very good player he makes a lot of certain volleys tries to go to the net um there are many many things he's doing great also because um he's in the sems of a grand slam so whoever reaches this this kind of uh results is going to be it's going to be a tough match um yeah I mean he also some moving great um it's all around it's going to be a tough match for both of us in any case so uh also mentally a lot um you know semis they are a bit different than first or second rounds so let's see whoever handles this this better and um and I'm looking forward to it um I played against him in Queens on grass um some years ago but it's it's nice to see our Pro process you know I'm growing as a player and and person so it's good let trans
