thank you [Music] come over here girl get over here oh I wish we could get in here maniac that's right I think it's two years what your age is I'm telling you what kind of music I don't care that will get to you in time hit them in your face I love it I have noticed however I've noticed a little change in The Pointer Sisters today for today the robes that rehearsal everything oh yes that's because Mom and Dad [Applause] Grace today where they start was your father strict children mother and father both preachers Bonnie and June she was the favorite no they didn't want me yeah and two daughters and now it's supposed to be it right it's the perfect family right two and two two and two in a long time but fear all worked out all right they're happy now then June came so there was another one my father my mother said I was going no no more please no more yeah I'm sorry it's too late I'm having this baby she shouldn't have let him come to Philadelphia because he cried when mother was pregnant with Bonnie and she said she got shouldn't have told you we were coming to Philadelphia because when I was pregnant with Bonnie he was crying because you didn't want to ever oh yeah I'm only one boy in the family family yeah I'd like to give everyone a chance to meet your parents because they're with us today so give a warm welcome to Reverend and Mrs Elton pointer [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] I'll tell you one thing I know that the ratings are gonna be fantastic because they told me how many postcards you'd set out really yeah you're a strict father well I wouldn't call it that they call it street but I don't call it Street I just make it like it is and do it like it is but you never did you ever Pat him on the po-po at all once or twice with my wife said don't do it anymore she'd do that take care of the boys he said you take care of the boys and I'll add on the girls oh yes she did she took care of us did she have a certain object yeah you know it was for the right thing whenever they told us to go get it Mrs pointer are you an ordained hey that's miraculous did you receive a calling of some kind or this is this just something that you well the leading of the Lord as a girl about 10 years of age and I would preach to my father and practice on him you know if I don't stand and put on my grandmother's long black dress to my daddy he would be my audience and I would just preached to him he was a Baptist and I was holding this I was trying to convince him to become a Holiness member he's a good audience then right have you preached today yes a few things ago what was your what was your last sermon about or my last sermon I think was about how they should get along and how they should live in the home how should they get along oh they should get along lovely they should the wives should honor the husbands and yeah but uh yeah obey and you know be kind one to the other and I was telling them you know the years my husband and I had been married and we've had our problems but we've never separated 33 years and they've never argued in front of us thank you I've never seen them argue once I think that's marvelous not once I've never heard of them that's Marvel how did you work out your problems without having them hear anything about it or know anything about it you said you said your wife said we had our problems but we worked them out and we worked the model right enough we among one another we just we didn't fuss one decided to give in to the other and used it with me you remember do you recall once when she came and the first time she gave him what a shock it was to your system well I can't remember that right now [Music] I usually give in I usually give in myself I just I don't know whether it's uh habit of mine or I've always been like that how did you instill values unto your children how did you do that well just from a Christian standpoint I had to tell them what was better and what wasn't better and I always told them what was right and what was wrong and uh no no not only preached at the church but I preached to them and I told them what the Bible had to say about matters yeah but young people especially when they're relaxed at home they don't usually react to kind of toward preaching how did you do it not like I know you were doing it well I didn't actually preach to them I just told them I still get uncertain terms and they did what I told them to do and they were good girls all of them were good girls I didn't have a bad girl in the bunch [Music] what do you feel inside both of you when you see your daughters performing because they are so excited it's so good well I I had mixed feelings about that when we first started off I thought they were going rock and roll um Jazz they finally didn't they took the popular singing and I thought they would but I wasn't sure that they make so many people happy so it must be they do they make people happy and I I didn't want to see them go rock and roll and they didn't now they're saying just popular songs interesting songs and and uh interesting nothing about it that's bad and when you see them perform if you watch the faces out there you see all the happy smiles and happy yeah they're bringing everyone it really makes you feel good they brought the Reverend brought some pictures Zone [Music] [Music] five years is tall and slim now but look at her here folks your daughter your daughter June is is back in San Francisco and in the hospital we asked three hours earlier in the week to send Johnny to get well card how is she feeling much better is she better but she's still not well she's not well we want to see her back with the girls but that's yet to say we don't know yet did the girls sing in the choir we're like oh yeah she's saying in the choir did you can you play an instrument no you don't who played for it and we had different people that qualified for that and of course Ruthie even worked up to directing the choir for a while hello there hello that's how those cheeks slim down yeah she played a little from the girls but you wouldn't call it a Pianist but she played enough to play their songs that they were singing did you all sing together at home as a family I would get to him though and we would all sit down and sing the song oh here we are just relaxing actually I'm trying to get the stove started we decided that the girls I know that they cook and uh so they decided to prepare something for you and tell them what it is peanut butter [Music] taste it when you tasted I'm going to love it where did you get this recipe where'd you get the rest of it well I got it from this um it's an old African restaurant what goes in it pray towel besides peanut butter uh bell peppers tomatoes Tomatoes um white onions salmon ridiculous um grab meat shrimp salmon and peanut butter and poured over rice before we go any further I gotta thank you thank you I gotta thank my friends at Old original book finders for sending over the shrimp the crap [Music] what did we do first [Music] a little olive oil the pot is too high for crab meat in your mouth the first two hours [Music] [Music] get with it don't quit come on get it on everything in at once yeah was it this one or is it no that's nothing okay don't be messy don't be messy you know I'm gonna touch you don't be messy I have all the burners around because we don't know which is which side watch yourself when reaching your brush and turn this off left front right here that's the left front right there when do you add the peanut butter I can hardly wait what you're wearing them that's enough onion onions let this look cooked right here I tell you that's not doing much that's the wrong one that's the right one right baby hey you you cook much when you're on the road oh yes and that's the case you're cooking hotel rooms yes you must have a lot of interesting visitors now I know all about this yeah when we cook in hotel rooms some of the finest hotels in this country with my wife that's right yeah Palmer House in Chicago we cooked Mayflower in Washington we cooked class of New York we cooked in the room any place that's right you've been
