[Music] [Music] that hurt [Music] more verticality [Music] recording in progress all right uh welcome to the straight red card i'm getting really good at timing that all right well in the three right card all right getting better at that um today we have a special guest he's been on before so you probably know him and you know it's a small little soccer world we all live in but we have a special introduction today actually michael cameron has provided us with your intro specifically and i'm going to read his intro he wrote it and sent it to us today so where is it brett can you get michael cameron's post up all right michael said sam stokes is a us men's national team and mls youtuber with nearly 10k subscribers sam has interviewed big names in the u.s soccer landscape sexes such as alexi lollix meg swanik herc gomez and others i think that's all did he have more sam i don't know why i he cut off maybe he found out it was us but hey sam thanks for coming back on and if you he didn't even mention your show which is the yank report and if you're not there yet go there how are you always a pleasure man i'm glad i could make it in always a unique introduction so thank you for that thank you to the turd in the background for that one [Laughter] he'll be around i'm sure for the show he often comments so i think he comments on other people's show now too and then they actually know what that means which is you know we know michael cameron knows what it means to you unfortunately unfortunately for pete and me um so i i wanted to catch up because the first thing that really intrigued me was watching all those videos with you intact how was hanging out with tac oh man he's a blast man he's he's uh he's just as fun to hang out with in person as he is like watching his videos really um really personable guy really funny guy uh and just of course just talking about soccer and brazil non-stop so there's a lot of that yeah did you have to say hey enough of that already well we ate at two brazilian restaurants uh holy crap every time it was time to eat he was like i want to go to a brazilian restaurant like guess we're doing brazilian again uh uh at both places the uh wait staff only spoke to tac and only spoke in portuguese uh so cool he just just ordered for us and then food arrived and there we go uh but yeah he's he's great you guys walked around a lot i saw some of the footage um anything not cabbage captured by the camera you can tell us about that happened while you guys were there did people notice you two and pack both yeah yeah we met a lot of people um a lot of people would talk to us especially whenever we went to uh we went to where like the scuffed podcast tailgate was um so we met with like adam bells and there was a lot of people uh i think like us soccer twitter was stationed at the uh at the scuff podcast tree so once we got there it was like that we ran into a whole bunch of people that we had uh recognized from from twitter interactions and stuff like that um so yeah we met a lot of famous people in the u.s soccer community and you both had your own table there it was it was the tailgate man it was weird yeah standing under a tree uh i think jay hernandez walked up with a six-pack of modelos and uh handed those out of course tac doesn't drink so i grabbed one of the uh modelos and enjoyed that and it was it was really cool to uh just hang out with people that can talk to you on the internet and people that you have this thing in common with and kind of uh you know share a beer and kind of talk about that shared experience i know filippo uh mentioned a lot that like uh on the internet and on twitter sometimes there's like a lot of hostility and like anger and and you know uh things can be misinterpreted and stuff like that whenever you're just discussing on twitter or on the internet or wherever else but whenever you're in person and you're looking at somebody in the eyes and you're talking to them you understand how much mutual connection that you have how much you share and like how small your differences actually are whenever it comes to this national team uh that that it feels like you know where everybody's in different camps on the internet and we're just all having these all-out wars but in person you realize that there's just uh there's not that many people out there that care about this national team as much as the people who are going to these games and you have a lot more in common than the other one then you don't you know right everybody's always nicer with a beer in hand too so right i'm telling you you get too many beers and then uh maybe not so much that's true so i'm glad you guys didn't get beat up you know by some you know large mammal who was actually upset with you so although i think he's not that short is he uh we're about the same he's probably like five seven oh you guys are short i'm five eight he's about five seven honestly we're the same height i just made myself taller than him just just to do that we're about to say mike i guess we would be the large mammals then the two of us up here all right cool thing about soccer is whenever you're hanging out with a bunch of soccer people nobody's all that tall you know yeah well brett was a center forward so you know he's six three six four two six three oh six three my bad i always give you an extra inch because you make me look so short now see i've been busy shrinking you know i've been with derek taking out a context clip right there yeah i used to pull me into that i used to be five eleven and now i'm five ten and a half so i'm shrinking i've been told by my doctor that's normal in college i hung out with like a lot of my friends were either on the uh the football team or the baseball team so you know everybody was six foot was like the short guy yeah so just hanging out with a bunch of trees it's not so much like that in the soccer community which is nice but anyway right and we've all been getting bigger and bigger and bigger like both my sons are over six foot so does that make sense because i'm not and they're steroids in the beef their mom is 5'4 what sense does that make i don't know whatever good you know you get good food and you grow faster and you know take your vitamins and we didn't have all that crap that's all it was a male man how tall was the mailman oh that was not nice brett all right he's implying that my wife i got i got it took me a second i got it now my ex-wife excuse me i mean stereotypically you go with the milkman but how many people actually have milkmen anymore you know i just you know i should shut up before i get myself in trouble actually okay let's answer we're gonna answer some questions first if you don't mind you ready i'm ready man oh okay let's do it so this is one of our regulars nate and he said this stream must start by addressing alexi llamas okay i'm guessing that must be his tweet today i know alexi llamas llamas i don't know i don't know if that was a if that was a uh typo but i'm going on twitter i typed into lexi llamas and they're everywhere he's probably talking about the uh alexi did a depth chart and yeah that's been controversial did you see that okay yeah let's pull it up here one second i got it yeah we're ready for that we just found it right before we went on air actually when when we got to center forwards our jaws hit the floor yeah yeah there it is i mean i mean for us sam you could have your own thoughts obviously you will but i mean this is okay if it also is taking an account who's injured i don't know about aaron long at two but he's probably right knowing burr halter but the big one that stood out for everybody jossey zardes is your number two striker seriously he hasn't been called in for like the last three windows yeah i was uh reading a bunch of the comments on this and somebody pointed out that he probably put giassi's artist at number two just to illustrate how behind jesus ferreira there's just so many question marks even jesus ferreira for as much as i like him as a striker is a question mark i think we're gonna learn a lot about jesus in this window uh as to how he's gonna project in the world cup but he's about all we got at this point but i think after jesus um there's a lot of question marks i think the same can be said for aaron long like after walker zimmerman like i think those are the guys in the mix two through five but how do you stack them i don't know i don't think jazzy's artist is in the mix currently for the striker pool i don't think that's cool no way but i think it does highlight that after jesus ferreira uh the striker pool is disappointing and yeah well there's brandon vazquez he's scoring more goals than jossy's artist right now if you mean you want to throw another name in there that's at least digestible that name is not adjustable you know i was i was thinking a lot about the striker pool today and kind of how we got to where we are and just thinking about like like josie altador is 32 years old and 32 years old is not like retirement age for a striker like he should still be he legitimately should be the number one striker for the national team right now it shouldn't be a discussion but he's fallen off a cliff so hard in the last two or three years that it's it he's not even coming in the conversation a couple long-term injuries there over those last two or three years i think bobby bobby woods another one who probably should be in the striker pool right now but has just fallen off the face of the earth he scored this weekend yeah but yeah okay the biggest josh sargent you know three years ago we all circled josh sergeant and said well in three years this guy is going to be phenomenal this guy he's going to be a regular goal scorer he's going to be a 10 goal scorer in the bonus league or something like that uh and that just hasn't happened yeah and then most recently we've had ricardo pepe who you know we circled as the next guy who's gonna be the guy and he's fallen off uh so we just kind of every prospect that should be in the mix right now has just fallen off and it's just she created a sad state of affairs for the striker pool just by using pepe as an example here should we second guess large a large number of goals scored by strikers in mls in comparison to players in europe you mean like a bobassi who's scoring goals for fun right now we all thought he was out we thought yeah he's ceiling done i always i don't look at um how many goals of players scoring so much as like how they're scoring goals i always think that the context is the most important thing uh what are they scoring a lot of different types of goals how are they are they constantly putting themselves in goal scoring position are they getting a lot of gimmies you know is it is it just a year where everything's falling for him is everything falling into place or are they like the st the straw that stirs the drink and are making things happen which is why i i'm so excited about jesus ferreira uh because i i like his just complete game i mean whenever he's not scoring goals for fc dallas he's he's creating goal scoring opportunities he's mobile he can play in a lot of different positions and then the goals that he's scoring he's scoring a lot of different types of goals he's scoring goals where he arrives in the box and finishes he's gotten some headers he's gotten some runs in behind he's gotten some goals where he's rounded the keeper i mean there's there's a whole lot of different goals that he's scoring uh so that makes me excited but um does that mean that he's absolutely going to be uh that that's absolutely going to transfer over to the national team or does that mean that he's going to be able to go to uh the bonus league next season and light it up i i don't know there's still a lot of question marks but i do like what i see from him and i think to go back to your original question the way that the player is playing the way that they're scoring goals to me is always going to be more important than the number of goals that they score i think you know we can list off a name a list of names of players who had a stretch where all of a sudden they started scoring goals and everybody started screaming they need to be in the national team they need to be in the national vasquez is the guy right now they're screaming about so vasquez is one i mean timmy chandler you remember when timmy chandler had that stretch where he just scored a bunch of goals in a row in like five games in a row yeah he was just on fire and everybody was saying he needs and it just happens in soccer that every now and then a player just gets a bunch of goals and they're in the right place in the right time maybe that's happening with [ __ ] right right now we don't know i mean this is the second season in a row where he's scoring a bunch of goals i mean we did see it with josie altador where in uh for azad outmoore and the dutch league he had a bunch of goals he was playing fantastic gets to move over to uh the epl and he can't replicate that no one passing the ball in sutter lincoln they're like don't pass it to him like even when he was wide open they're like nope not passing it to you sorry yeah those okay drawing fouls well the other the other thing was that um you know even if that was the case which it was they just teammates didn't want to pass them all how many set pieces was he uh underneath that year and he couldn't buy a goal and he missed some sitters that were laughable yeah and then there was that video that guy made it said all of josie altidore's epl goals and it was like 15 seconds long i'll never forget there was one game against arsenal where he made a move on a guy got into the box and he was pulled down but then fought that off and scored a goal and it was an absolutely remarkable goal but the referee ended up giving the penalty and i think or the foul and sunderland ended up not you not doing anything with the foul if they would have done play on it would have been josie's goal for arsenal yeah and in my mind that would have uh kick-started his goal scoring career and he would have had a much different you know he would have scored goals right and left for sunderland but instead it just like had him nose dive even more uh but seems like a bad use of advantage that's all i'm saying for the roof i missed that one great use of damage for arsenal i guess yes so you know there there are some hot guys but listings artists in there that's just a a that's just trolling in people yeah i think it was you've interviewed him i think i remember you in the room i watched the show where you did that yeah they're all about those out of context takes today man i swear to god but you know he seemed like he he gave a [ __ ] on your show and he wanted to talk and talk have a conversation not just be like i am the priest and you're the flock and you will listen you will ask the questions and i will answer them so what's chris gary saying what about now what up chris uh casanova let's see there were some hot guys glad i wasn't the only one when they heard that did i say that derek goes yeah there were some hot guys there but [Laughter] oh the chat is on like a 15-second uh delay so i'm sorry like they've probably seen my face going what what are you talking about oh man um so before we move on to uh yeah let's get as many people watching and then yeah then we'll we'll start the show if you will let's see we'll keep taking questions whoa oh you know what you know what i can't do that yet i need to share audio oh wait before you do this so i haven't seen this yet sam okay but word is from brett is that you have started a new line of undies and junk enhancing speedos clothing line so two question do you model them and two legit banana hammocks and everything man what's up with that yo if you guys want to show a video you should show um i put together a 30-second commercial for the for the um for the business instead of showing that like five minute youtube thing i wasn't going to show i was going to show the first 30 seconds of it oh yeah yeah you could do it where's that uh oh shoot where is it at i think um there's a youtube channel i believe called since let me look it up since 77 76 apparel since 76 uh is it coming out of porn i don't know that's that's a different number brent can i uh can i send you a link on twitter yeah all right i'll do that d right production since 76 that's not sure what to click think of that i thought you said d-rec for a second be right yeah so tell while we're finding this tell us a little about uh what the hell is going on and then we'll play the vid yeah give me one second i'm gonna send him this link all right i sent it to you on twitter all right so uh uh i've always been frustrated by the lack of uh t-shirt options for us soccer like i've always been one to go to like a u.s soccer shop i always peruse it all the time in fact the other day i just bought a gnome us soccer as a gnome for sale i don't know why but they had that but anyway their their shirts uh they're very expensive they're like 40 bucks for a t-shirt the design is kind of lame whenever i buy them they're not very great i've always been disappointed in that because i feel like um kind of capturing culture and wearing your favorite teams is a great way to uh expose new people to whatever you're interested in and it helps that culture helps grow whatever fan base that you're supporting and the lack of that in this community i feel like is a uh is a disappointing thing so yeah i met with a t-shirt company in my hometown uh told him that what explained to him what i wanted to do uh then i met with a designer who who's one of my good friends who happens to be just one of the best designers in the country in my opinion um he's won all kinds of awards and actually through the yank report and through me being involved with this he's kind of become more and more of a soccer fan and he texts me about soccer now so whenever i pitched him the project uh he got on board with it and gave me a nice discount on the uh on the price so that was good uh but i pitched him a bunch of designs he sent them to me and i thought that they were absolutely great so uh we're rolling out with the first design which is the uh kings of conquer calf shirt that i have on right now and uh what we're gonna do is like drop style releases so it's gonna be like uh i know you guys are big sneaker heads like greg burhalter and generally whenever nike releases some highly sought after sneaker like there's a um they only release it in a small window so it's not like you can get it you know you have to like be there in time to get it and that's basically what we're doing we're doing the first drop on june 5th and you'll be able to get the kings of conquer calf shirt uh it's available in like six different colors it's only going to be available for a week and then after that week ends we'll close the store and then next time we'll drop another design i put a bunch of the the uh concepts that we have so far in this video so you can kind of see some of the different ones uh it's a project that i'm really excited about it's something that already i've kind of shown a bunch of my friends like my in real life friends who aren't soccer fans not in the shirt and they're kind of curious about it and already i've had people go dude i really like that shirt i don't know what concacaf is i don't know what this even is nobody does but i like the shirt and in that you get to say like cockacaff is the federation that the us plays in we've got this young team they just won two of the confederations tournaments in a row they're very exciting the world cup's coming up and they're like man that's awesome i got to get that shirt this is so cool and you just get to see how you know cool design and and sharing that culture can can bring new people into the american soccer tent and get new people excited about the national team so i'm really excited about getting these shirts out there uh and just seeing if they can have an impact and get more people to care about this thing that we care so much about i know so on the website you guys are going to have to have an explanation of concacaf next to the shirt so people know but what you're saying is no junk enhancing speedos though not yet i mean we'll see we'll get banana hammocks come out next year derek all right well let's play this let's see dan w wants to know if you have a dry fit uh currently no all we have is just regular t-shirts i mean we're starting we're starting small as we can and hopefully uh grow as we get bigger but uh as of right now it's just t-shirts all right that's cool hey man we got t-shirts too so we know that and people like you they'll go out and like what you're you're putting out there we go and get it chris gary is asking if we have a character of michael cameron that's on our tee springs that's on our teespring site uh chris ah yes you mean the turd we sold any of those i'll have to go check i think we sold one i feel so bad for michael sometimes that is inside baseball boys and we but we you know i'm sure michael's a great guy i swear i'm sure he is so we apologize for calling you a church all right let's check it out it's a gag we can no longer uh not do anymore so sorry michael yeah we have to now yeah since 76. there's a reason why u.s national team fans own so many jerseys u.s soccer apparel stinks at 676 we're looking to change that our goal is to grow the fan base through dope designs that fans will actually want to wear but our shirts won't be available 24 7. we will be opening our store exclusively for limited time only drops with limited merchandise so follow our socials and sign up for our mailing list so you don't miss out on the next drop because americans are not built to celebrate quietly we are the land of the free and the home of the kings of cockatoo since 1776. you do model man that's good yeah that's sweet you need to get that up as your intro video for your youtube channel by the way no yeah that's a good idea yeah i might as well i mean hell when my album comes out i'm sticking that and there is it's out buy it today's the first day that i i put out a video on my channel and today's the first day that i really publicly told people about it so uh cool yeah we're brand new we're glad to be the david letterman of your movie release you know metaphorically that's really cool uh all right so brett you said we have more questions before we moved on uh real quickly do we want to go over the difference between usa and europe oh god what was that was that the toilets it was toilets maybe sam can explain this to me what the hell why do we have a cut out piece of toilet in the usa not my house we have the normal european dollars apparently but who benefits from that i want to reiterate that this is more of a public use yeah are we are we supposed to accept that there's no toilet seats like that in europe at all at all really i i don't know i don't maybe we just we're not really good at sharing the benefits of having a hole in your seat the eggs have uh big balls europeans little balls i feel like there's better photos that represent the difference between europe and america but they they missed the bidet next to it well and i also think if you're taking a number deuce that it'll just allows for another hole for splashing to occur out of yeah it allows you to to fit the little uh toilet seat condom thing if you need that sparkle's got it large penises shut out sparkle large men i don't know i don't know i i don't know that could be it but i'd like to know for reals and i thought maybe sam right now so we thought we'd ask you know if i should share that chris because sam's from louisiana and that's really close to being french yeah it is somebody in the comment section said shout out louisiana hey yeah oh cool i see you louisiana this one here i see you louisiana yeah what's up man so i don't have the luxury by the way sam of looking at the private chat while we have our show because no my computer will crash if i start watching the chat yeah it just does doesn't like chat so chat and this going on at the same time is too much for my laptop ash hall says sam is a member of the versace family confirmed i don't know what that means uh maybe you guys can give me some insight on that you know helio in there you know who versace is don't you i know like i i know the name i know that it's a fashion donatello versace i don't know what yeah he started out by making t-shirts and speedos okay here you go derek this this is why it's for peeing between your wife's like swimming steering the toilet all right well glad to hear you guys are flexible in that manner and i assume that's all that's very european of you by the way yeah and chris i assume you crouched down that's not to splash her and squeeze it through the hole all right shout out to chris gary because i noticed he had a he had a huge brand change throughout world cup qualifying he went from uh just hashtag burt halter out to now he's just chris gary i don't know if that represents a a change in uh and beliefs for him if there was a a leaf turned over or or what happened there no i doubt that word seriously i feel like he's falling in line with uh with us in the sense that nothing's going to change guys yeah burr holder out it's never going to happen i know jake just did a big uh just did a big uh rebrand so maybe he he's greg saban now i mean oh my god yeah he's got her halter in his profile picture he's a full-on supporter at this point i i couldn't i mean he gave sent us some i don't know he had like a thing he wanted to us to click and say is fifa america a good name or whatever yeah yeah i guess enough people said not really because he's switching because it looks like he he's uh it's he changed it to uh it's called soccer and it looks good man his stuff his stuff looks really good man all of his uh thumbnails and everything he's doing a great job he's putting out content like every day yeah it's just called soccer no it's called soccer oh i the first time you said that i thought you meant that his brand was just called literally yeah i don't know how he could just claim soccer that didn't seem fair somebody probably had that before he did it's the soccer channel right here um all right do we have any questions before we start getting some things going on with the us men's national team let's just jump into some news okay oh yeah [ __ ] i highly did you out sucks yeah that's a bummer i'm really hoping to see him play why not replace him with somebody it's burr halter he doesn't replace people who get injured sam no you don't think bring him on i know you're the big paxton pom-pole guy and here we are on the show regularly saying ah i want to see him have a one full good season without an injury yeah you know what happens i was always curious about jordy's inclusion in this roster he doesn't seem like he really has a position in this national team no it seemed like his best position would be in that three back formation as one of those players playing underneath the striker but even in that position i feel like every one of our wingers would be better suited for that role than him so he always felt felt like a player that is in this really crappy position of being good enough for the national team but not having a defined position and the positions where he could play there's better players ahead of him um which sucks but uh that that's kind of where i thought he would be uh i didn't see him being an eight i didn't see him having that defensive responsibility but uh we saw we saw what happened when you played the 4-3 with him in the olympics he wasn't great but he had bad games and he had good games depending on where he played and wherever you know so this this is an issue when you uh when you're when you're when you pigeonholed your national team to one formation yeah there's no flexibility and you have players who are doing really well but they're clubs that can't find a spot on the team because they're either played out of position as a winger which don't get me wrong jordy played a lot of winger at chicago he knows how to play the position um he could play v8 but you're right i don't know if you necessarily have the defensive aspects of the eight so i'm thinking he'd probably be considered more of a winger in that sense the most frustrating thing for me about this june roster is it felt like bear halter only brought in three eights you know he brought in um mckinney moussa and uh luca de la torre the other midfielders that he brought in were mihailovich roldan and uh malek tillman and you know in the press conference he even said we don't know if mallet tillman can play the eight we don't know if he's got the defensive responsibility uh and i'm assuming he doesn't because that's you know that's not really what he does and gosh the eights have so much defensive responsibility in this system um and then mihailovich we just went over him and then christian rodon has not played hardly ever um or hardly at all throughout world cup qualifying whenever he has he's been a winger and what he's looking good at um with um with seattle right now is more in that wing position so he doesn't really look like an eight so it seems like they only brought in three which i feel like is disappointing but at the same time i understand that uh i i don't think anybody likes this but i think the reality is in burholter's mind we do have a fourth eighth on the roster and it's acosta yes um and i think um whenever he doesn't want to use kelin acosta i think that's the reason why he or a big component of the big component as to why he wants to implement that three-man back line so if one of those midfielders is out if tyler adams is out uh you can go to that three-man back line and you only have two midfielders as opposed to that three midfielders and it kind of uh alleviates a little bit of that stress on that position um i felt like palma call would have been great but i know and that's kind of a nonstarter at this point i think i'm ready to let that go um but that yeah for now at least you know but i mean he he could make an amazing comeback but right now nobody will touch him in europe because of his injury record so he'll you know he's going to have to prove something i mean if they're buying up tasman [ __ ] why not a call if he stays healthy for a couple years true you know in the last few years because of uh how successful the young players have been from the u.s we kind of forget that the model of a teenager from mls heading to europe hasn't been the classic model for the us men's national team nor mls for right you know the 25 year history of mls it has long been that the 23 year old veteran gets the move uh and there's players that potentially could be that like miles robinson is not that what miles robinson is like 24 years old right now miles robinson has a lot of soccer ahead of him once he recovers from that injury he's also had two season-ending injuries that's something that's something to be concerned about oh you're right and that is a big concern but you know i look at um uh i look at jordy mihailovich as another player that may fit into that category who's not a teenager anymore he's in his 20s uh maybe somebody like eric williamson who's like 25 something like that uh maybe paxton paul mccall jesus ferreira is on the younger side at 21 but there there's a few guys that could be these kind of late bloomers that end up on that clint dempsey path or that stu holden path or you know jeff cameron path that make their way over to europe a little bit later and end up being sort of this surprise player that nobody was really expecting that's going to be relevant in the 2026 world cup uh that we sort of wrote off this year yeah and being injured i think is his biggest nemesis i mean it's uh it's so it's not a surprise but it still surprises fabian johnson that nobody wants to sign him so you know but you have to stay healthy and nobody wants to sign anybody who's hurt all the time so um you're gonna have to prove you can go two or three years without being injured because i mean his record his injury record is unfortunate and uh unfortunate now so colin breaks it down and says that legend mihailovich are wings or second strikers or tins unfortunately we really don't play with two of those positions right so again that's going to pigeonhole pilots into a wing which again he's capable of playing just might not be his his biggest strength i think you're on u.s soccer i trust joe then you think we do play tents yeah that was that's weird i i do think that part of the decline that we saw in sebastian leget for the national team occurred because our eights went from being a little bit more involved in the attack to being a lot more defensive and whenever we made that shift it didn't fit leget's uh play style at all and uh that had a lot to do with his decline but a lot of it also had to do with him just not quite being at the level anyway uh and um he also had form and with his club um hit declining for his club so i think all that combined added to the uh the the decline of uh sebastian lejet and the subsequent removal of him from the national team yeah and i've always said it before anybody who was paying attention noticed when he came back from that serious injury he was never quite the same player like his ability to run in a straight line was still okay but his ability to make the quick cuts kind of fell off the wayside a little bit so and when you're already on the edge of making the team a little thing like that makes a difference go ahead i'm sorry oh no you're in the middle of conversation there so i was just going to bring up the rugged naga tv says he would like to see alan sonora brought in yeah i mean i would too but uh it looks like you know that's not going to happen this time around and i don't know here's another guy and it's 20 sam i mean why not give him a sniff if jordy can't come call up bound get him yeah i can see that i mean he seems to be another guy in this exact same um role that we keep discussing where there's not quite a role for him in this national team uh so you know give him give him a shot i don't know to me i think uh if you're gonna if you're handing out shots i think the the person i'm most excited to see get the shot is malik tillman you know oh yeah at this point yeah i thought that was very exciting in that you know he's made that one-time switch already so yeah it's pretty crazy and then other news today another one time switcher was sam shashua from tenerife so nobody saw that one coming either um because i mean not many people even knew he was american or had the ability to you know make a switch so um so that's good news all right you just broke that news for me i didn't know okay yeah i would have this guy is a friend of mine and he would always write me he said i still don't think the shashua brothers are us eligible i'm like why why do you think that and he just didn't believe it well we have proof now when will mix disrupt get a chance when he is when he leaves the cypriot league ten years ago [Laughter] he had his chance he had a lot of chances and some of them are good yeah some of them were forgettable yeah what do you think about this sam patrick vieira's crystal palace are reportedly considering a move for chris richards i mean interesting interesting i just want to see the guy playing man like we really need him playing i think i was thinking you know i just went on that rant about the striker position and all the players that we had high hopes for that kind of crash and burned throughout uh this last two years i think another guy maybe not quite as drastic but also kind of taking some of the the um the excitement out of the national team discussion heading towards the world cup has been chris richards because i think a lot of us two years ago had chris richards circled as saying like by now he's going to be one of the no doubt starting starting center backs for the national team he seemed to be on that trajectory and while he has shown some glimpses and he's gotten some regular minutes for um hoffenheim uh some he's also dealt with some injuries and he's been out during some key times where he really could have uh solidified himself uh really devastated that he's not gonna be a part of this june window just yet another opportunity for us to get to see him potentially in a moment where we need somebody to step up and seize a starting center back roll he's not going to be available for that and it's just it's another kick in the pants uh for a guy that i think a lot of us had high hopes for not saying that he's he's going to be disappointing or anything like that and potentially maybe he does get this move to crystal palace or anywhere else maybe he stays at bayern and he ends up being the starting center back for bayern you know and we're not we're not even having any discussion in a few months but um i somehow doubt that i doubt that too i think he's more likely to end up at like fryeburg or hoffenheim permanently but crystal palace worries me a little bit um you know he's going to really have to bust his balls to get into that that roster and and make the 18 and then get regular time so yeah i'm not sure i'd like this move the issue for him i think you know tell me if you disagree but it looks like his uh his price tag has gotten to the point where he's not quite a project center back anymore he's uh we need production out of you center back right um and he's still young he still hasn't put together a full season um and he's still been dealing with injury so there's there's sort of question marks there uh so it's it's it's a i'm a little concerned about chris richards in this moment of time and and whether or not he's gonna be in a position where he's getting regular minutes and and can step up and be that starter for us in the world cup so we really need him so i i will say chris's time at hoffenheim his first his first year because rumors oh he was only there from january for that last second half of the season and he basically entered the field and never left the field the entire half season and then he got sent back over to huffman this past season uh and he had off and on minutes here and there and then he he he's a starter from i'd say majority of the games he actually played he was a starter in this but then he suffered the broken foot and was out for the rest of the season um so i don't think playing time at hoffenheim was really the concern in my opinion i think the playing time with the national team would yeah that was the issue it was the timing of the injuries yeah the injuries came up at the wrong time for the national team i think the problem with uh with richards in this situation was is for the first two windows uh burr halter burned a player with uh call by calling it brooks so yeah if you hated him you should have just left them off in the first place jesus i guess there are guys that every now and then i i feel like they get injuries that's just the worst possible times i i think about like miles robinson as a guy like that where um gosh he got injured right before that uh no he didn't get injured for the olympic qualifying camp the uh austin or um atlanta just didn't didn't let him go well he he got he got injured on the previous youth cup that he got brought into yeah yeah and then atlanta said no i'm not letting you take him again yeah so he just kept having these moments in his career where it was everything was set up for him to explode and he just was not able to play for one reason or another be it injuries or be it his club not releasing him at these really opportune moments these moments that make players careers uh he just didn't have it happen for him and now he's in a situation where uh he's he's kind of at that point in his career at his age where now's the time for him to really be making looking to make big moves and he's going to be injured for a world cup where he was looking like a starter it's really disappointing for him i look at somebody like josie altador as similar in that vein uh where josie uh just seemed to get injured every time the u.s had a big game or a big tournament or something like that and just yeah there's these guys that just go down at the absolute worst times and it just it it kind of breaks your heart to see that um hopefully that's not what we're seeing with chris richards well i will say with logan with richards his one big injury was the broken foot he sustained while playing for the united states so that that says a lot that he's at least he was at least playing for a mid-table team in bundesliga consistently i will say also i read some reports coming out that uh that byron were actually interested in giving him a look this summer as a potential player as a potential center back option not necessarily a starter per se but at least viable option maybe not necessarily loan them out again or sell them but at least the viable option the number three sure yeah in the rotation maybe i mean that's as good as it's going to get it's not it's not like bayern doesn't play enough games that they may have to rotate through center right byron are going to go out and buy the best center backs in in the bundesliga next coming this window yeah i mean they could loan them out and just kind of keep an eye on them for another two seasons or they could sell them and then buy them back you know they're not the biggest spinning club in the world they tend to be very smart with their money but it's not like they can't afford you know 20 grand 20 million dollars [Laughter] best center back in the world 20 grand it's a steal all right we have more get one this is the big talk it seems like every every team under the sun is looking to get uh gaga's uh okay by the way i just want to clarify so nobody goes back and like corrects me uh i'm saying potentially in a couple years chris richards will be worth 20 million i'm not saying he's worth 20 million right now the transfer market has him around 8 million right just so that you know i don't get a tweet later right right this is down the road when he's stays healthy for yeah so uh exclusive from listen we love fabrizio because he always gives pretty accurate predictions but exclusive real madrid are preparing opening bid for slo nina born in 2004 chicago fire are waiting for the first proposal to arrive soon before the us mentions now now we've had real madrid rumors we've had byron rumors we've had juventus i think was the first one we've got chelsea we've had wolves he should not go sam uh he should not go this is i agree with you guys i think he should stay in mls i don't know what he's going to play on mls let's also remember let's also remember that obviously real madrid chelsea even wolves for that matter won't use them opening day no owning them first game the loan amount and there's a lot of talk a lot of a lot of the young players in mls that people are are not even young players but a lot of the players that they're signing from mls they are uh just loading them back out to their mls clubs to continue to get in time yeah well we've seen that with chelsea they're hoarders of players and you know so it's man city and they just that's a pretty good deal it is a good deal but these clubs real madrid he'd end up thinking i'm playing on the b team at best and that's fine if he's going to learn something which maybe he will like brett said if real madrid buy him and say hey look man we're gonna buy you we're gonna own your rights we're gonna loan you back to the chicago fire for two seasons the only thing that's gonna be different is you're gonna be a real madrid player and your uh your weekly income is gonna triple but um you know everything else you're just going to be staying in chicago fire for a few seasons that would be great keep developing yeah and then during the summers you'll come hang out with us and you'll get to hang out with our top goalkeeper in the world and uh who just won the champions league by the way and he's a badass and um and yeah that would be great if that were the case but you know obviously some of the veteran players they're not there they i mean you they're not really there to mentor and help i mean at real madrid no yeah no it's not what they do that's it's full of stars who are like hey either you get your [ __ ] together or you shouldn't be here in the first place kidding me yes i think the nice thing the nice thing with chicago in that sense is not only do they have selenium who's probably the number one u20 goalkeeper for us but they have arguably the number two goalkeeper in the 20s as well under chris brady brady we're not we're not hurting for goalkeepers but we are hurting for experienced good goalkeepers because both of them are 17 years old but now i guess what's really irritating about that is that the two youngsters at chicago were ahead of my uh uh third cousin twice were me removed spencer richie so it's been really devastating for the whole family um all right and yeah i'm saying that but we probably are related in some way because there's not a whole lot of us out there with that exact same spelling so um where where are we going next brett um you got more we have other questions we could do but let's jump let's just jump over 46 minutes into let's jump into june window okay so do we know why zach stefan's not going to be there is he injured it just has family issues well that's right yes i remember reading that oh family issues and i don't think it said issues you just said family reasons so yeah maybe it's a good thing you know it's gonna necessarily be a bad thing maybe he and his girlfriend are trying to have a kid and it's not working out so he wants to give his jewels a little rest and then he's gonna you know you don't want to keep playing soccer it's tiring he doesn't have the energy to make that happen he texted that to burr halter or was that a phone call or like how do you think he you think he brought that up i think yeah he just texted him i need to give my boys a rest he's like what boys you don't have any children he said exactly that's why my boys need a rest all right so that i don't yeah nobody seems to know yet i don't know it could be any kind of thing but family issues so if they're serious all jokes aside i hope it's nothing serious um and then so that leaves us now with johnson on the list right okay there are no other changes to this list as far as i can tell except for the fact that we already covered which is uh mihailovich pulled his left testicle and won't be able to play so there you go um so let's get to it uh a lot of feature shows talking about this game with morocco what is greg going to do is he going to play the best team he can play against the like uruguay morocco and leap the other b players for el salvador and um and i think he is going to play his best team or close to it in his mind for the first two games what do you think oh yeah i'm right there with you i mean uh greg said that in the stephen goff interview he said this was going to be largely a tune-up uh camp and and i he tends to uh play it straight whenever he says stuff like that so i don't see any reason to doubt him um i mean if you think about it there's there's this window and then there's going to be another window and then it's the world cup there's not a lot of games between now and november uh and especially against competition of this quality i mean we don't know what the next window is going to be uh but you're looking at a morocco team and at a uruguay team that um is is the type of team that concerns you if you're the u.s men's national team uh there's uh for morocco there's not a lot of household names per se but there's a lot of guys who are uh who've been put getting a lot of money to play soccer at a very high level for a very long period of time they've been playing on their national team together for a very long time and they got a superstar on their squad in hakimi and that's the type of team that we're nervous about because that is the exact opposite of what we are we've got a lot of budding superstars that are very young and don't have a lot of time playing together so i think that these um getting 60 minutes out of your a squad is going to be absolutely invaluable uh trying to figure out if jesus ferrer or giving jesus ferreira the proper run out to earn that spot is going to be invaluable figuring out who's going to be standing next to walker zimmerman if it is going to be walker zimmerman at the center back spot is going to be absolutely invaluable and then in the last half hour the last 20 minutes of the game um maybe that's whenever you see do do we have a backup left back in the mix uh do we have um this [ __ ] right bring something to this group that is is gonna be electric uh hakimi's not gonna be there okay yeah he's injured i believe the last day or was it missouri um missouri that was injured one of those two were injured so fair enough i mean even without hakimi i mean you're still looking at a squad that just has um just has top five league players all over it which one which one of those two guys was friends with uh zach and played with him at ix do we know i'm not sure okay well there well there's another big name that won't be there because he in the co he wouldn't let the coach pee on him in the in the um the bathroom i'm assuming he wasn't hakimi because akimi was a dortmund that's right so it's to be the other guy then oh my memory sucks i read the report and then whoa in one ear out the other okay it wasn't so they're saying yeah so yeah maz is not playing because he is uh supposedly this is what some of the media i read he is in alliance with zayej and until zach comes back and uh even though the coaches called him and said okay i'd like to make amends and i won't pee on you while you're in the shower you know and then we'll you know but i guess that hasn't sai still said no i'm not coming and he won't be there for this one either which is sad because i would have liked to seen us really challenged in this by the best that they got yeah yeah i mean it's still definitely gonna be a challenge um it's a step up from what we're used to right now yeah absolutely and it's gonna be a totally different type of squad uh it's gonna be a five men in the back squad so that's cool that's that's the kind of um a lot of what we're going to see at the world cup likely it is an iran play something similar um so i think that's a good test so i think it's still going to be a good test and and most importantly another 60 minutes or so for our starters to go out there and get minutes together i i really hope that um weston mckinney is going to be available to go uh 60 minutes to start the game uh and get time with the midfield but that's that's basically what i'm looking for in this game well morocco do play somewhat similar to iran in this way they're very pragmatic they like to play on the counter and um so we're gonna see that they and they will change their formation depending on the opponent like canada does so they're very they're kind of similar to canada in a weird way um like they don't have like any of these big ass names like canada does um because you know these players aren't going to be there but except for a superstar fullback yeah well you know i there's a certain guy that plays at lil that's pretty good too um yeah but i guess the point is yeah so if they are kind of like i ran in in small ways so i think it was generally a good pick um i forgot uh somebody mentioned this on twitter and sorry i'd have to go back through my uh responses which are lengthy to find out who it was but given the whole iran debacle with canada um somebody had questioned whether or not canada and uh the us work together to bring iran and morocco close at home so that each of them could uh scout the opposing player because canada plays morocco in the groups we play iran yes kind of that was a rumor yeah an interesting take on it no accident yeah it seems like it to me at least um all right so um i mean what are what are our predictions sam what's the prediction for this game i mean i mean let's say we we lose is that massively disappointing how much how much weight are you giving this game against morocco this first one uh for me it's less about the outcome and more about what we see on the field um do we do we see uh growth uh are we excited about jesus ferreira coming out of this game uh does one of the center backs step up and get us really excited and feel good moving forward do we get to see maybe a joe scally come in and play well at left back and get us excited moving forward like i think those are the things that i care more about than if we uh screw around uh playing slap ass for 90 minutes and then somehow come up with a win you know i would take uh feeling more excited about the group going forward towards the world cup than just getting a result even though the team didn't look good why not just start joe scally george bellows been pretty [ __ ] low to mediocre when he's played for us i i mean uh is there a reason why you wouldn't start um robinson uh oh anthony oh that's right he they scoped his knees fine that's right yeah so no i would start robinson you're right but i would definitely put scally as his back up i wouldn't i wouldn't i already know nobody's impressive says a second option no no no so try something new you know i mean this is a friendly it doesn't really matter if you lose um so why not have joe scalia as the backup and we know what we get from george fellow oh just like john brooks and so you know why why give him another run when he just got relegated to bundesliga with a horrible deal of phil t i was really surprised by the george bellow inclusion yeah for all those reasons i'd agree i mean sam vine seems to be the one really getting dick at least he's playing and he's playing somewhat well poor sam vines because i did my uh 2026 u.s men's national team prediction and i forgot sam vines even existed i didn't include him in that either uh so poor guy i mean we discussed like earlier in the show we talked about players uh who could have like a big second half of their career and you know explode and sam vines could be in that category he could turn into a player uh that that becomes very useful to the national team in the future no reason to write him off did bella play well against mexico which game yeah what was he talking about was that the first game i think something bellow played in the mexico way he didn't so um got to be the home game regardless i guess i don't know i should all specify and say that there are times it could have been nations that's a good point there are times that would where bellow uh does something nice does something good he does has a nice defensive stick he gets up in the attack plays in a decent cross but it's just nothing has been overly spectacular when watching him play out there he's really it's not it's nothing to bag on him about we're just saying that he hasn't made a name for himself as a left-back viable option he's really good north to south but he's not really good east and west he's not really yeah verticality just not the horizontality i always felt like he he's okay whenever he's on the ball it's whenever he's not on the ball okay whenever he's not on the ball is is the issue for me um there's there seems to be times whenever he's not in the spot where his teammates expect him to be uh whether that's on offense or on defense and uh i i i didn't follow him too closely in uh during the uh during his time at bienfeld but i did notice like bob morocco would uh would live tweet his games and and he would find a lot of faults in uh in bellows uh defensive work and and bella was often at fault for uh for crosses into the box and and giving up uh chances for for the opposition and that's something that we saw with the us as well where he was in spaces where he was supposed to be um so if he can get get over that which i'm sure he will he's what 20 21 years old right now like he's got a big future ahead of him but the question is in the next four months what's he gonna be and uh that's that's a prospect that i'm not very excited about he's gonna be in this two bundesliga yeah so i i will i will say um and read into this as much as you want as far as the gold cup final is concerned from what people were saying but george bellow started and was subbed out at the 65th minute and again that game went into the second overtime so either he wasn't performing well enough or he got gassed or injured i don't really recall but 65th minute for a left back got subbed out all right i remember that that was like his first that was his first start right like uh he didn't play at all in the tournament and i think our starting left back who who [Music] i'm not impressed um but quite frankly we don't have a plethora of options so i mean if scally hopefully scally performs and we have a viable second option rather than relying on uh desk playing left back no auntie robinson's there so we'll be as i said having your right back be your left back back up seems like a really dumb idea actually um yeah we were kind of surprised that dwan jones didn't at least get a you know semi reach around on this one we named it to the 48 but he doesn't want to bring in any more than 27 people i know i really like dejuan jones i think he can be a very serviceable option i think he could be uh i know that the scuff podcast use he likes to use the word floor like he could be the floor for that position like you have to be better than dejuan jones to be on the national team i think he would be solid at that um but he didn't get called in that that's another that's that's probably the biggest snub for me in this um in this national team window was dejuan jones not brooks maybe you've been realistic yeah yeah exactly exactly so we know who's going to play goalkeeper then i mean so we've established it versus uruguay and versus morocco the big boys are going to play all right i mean even though you're young maybe they're not as big as they're going to be going down the road yet but the point is though with with zach out now that leaves us pretty much guaranteed matt turner's the starter for those two games right yeah okay probably yeah and then who is lining up sam next to zimmerman i know while you're thinking about it real quick uh the news on horvath is uh there are uh several uh epl sides that are interested in samba so it looks like quarterback might become [Music] forrest's number one goalkeeper hey and he got seven minutes he got seven minutes or that didn't that last game when they they had never hey they got promoted to the game sells that he did it in the nation's league and he can do it uh for promotion well if he thinks about time yeah he's still a young keeper you son of a [ __ ] you better not have just made that up come on chris don't [ __ ] with us dude yeah twitter twitter's real i take everything without a grain of salt don't don't [ __ ] with us i'm already 50. i don't need this my memory is bad enough as it is so don't feed me bad information i'll relay to others i i think ethan horvath is in that he's like 24 23 25 one of those ages yeah i think he i think he's the same age as stefan 26 if i'm wrong i don't think so maybe i'm thinking about my bad mind he's gonna be 29 in four years i just did a video on this i just added all the anyway he's got to be around 25 yeah so he's still kind of young for a keeper he's still got a few years before he's really going to be like hitting that prime as a goalkeeper uh but i think the top clock's ticking man like he's gotta he's gotta start playing he's gotta start putting some seasons under his belt yeah and if you're not in him for us i wouldn't get rid of samba he was really good this season wasn't but if they do get rid of samba i'm just telling you right now they're going to go out and get another keeper yeah from somewhere and he's going to still have to fight yeah hormone is 26 years old he's 26 okay all right well that's close enough but so i think so is turner and so stefan they're all in the same rack i think roughly speaking maybe maybe tournament turn or step maybe turn 27 i don't know no corvette turns 27 this month yeah ages numbers are hard because one these guys got to start playing one way or another there you go 95s they played in the same u20 cycle yep so um i think it's going to be honestly long i really do think it's going to be long starting aside uh zimmerman for at least the first game it would make a lot of sense for it to be long because he's got the most experience with burt halter and in the group uh even though that hasn't been recent experience he's been around the group a little bit more so i i would buy that i i think the big thing in this window really is going to be i know this is frustrating but what we don't see i mean this is going to be a what is it like two week camp it's a long camp so there's gonna be plenty of opportunity for uh guys like eric palmer brown and cameron carter vickers uh and and long and scaly to make their case in front of burr halter and show what they can do it might not necessarily be in the four games that we get to see uh but these guys are definitely gonna get their opportunity to make their case so um i'm not i'm not quite as worried about who's starting or whatever else it's more about um what are they going to show once once we're all said and done i mean the issue here is even though eric palmer brown probably deserves a start he probably won't get the first one he might get the second one because greg is gonna go with his guy when i say his guy he has favorites in a lot of different categories right and his favor you know the thing with eric aaron long is with a shirt off amongst other team members he has the best nipples on the team and so that's one of his categories right so he likes his nipples and uh you know he's got other favorites for other reasons i can't get into all the fetishes because it's kind of gross but you know aaron long has been on his list for a long time regardless of his injuries he kept getting called in while injured yeah that's pretty impressive i mean just because greg likes to give him titty twisters it's unbelievable but you know he has his favorites for his reasons is aaron long athletic yes is he super fast no but he's fast enough to cover zimmerman when they loop one over our heads on a counter so i guess it makes sense you know yeah and i i don't know about you guys but i do read into the the who's the captain a lot and aaron long was the captain of the national team before he got injured i think that that carries weight it does so um i think he definitely has that walking into the locker room that he's he's one of the the big men on campus for the national team um regardless of how the fan base feels about him i think aaron long has that respect because he was a captain of the national team and you know i think that's that's accounts for something yeah yeah yeah it counts for something you know greg's has specific veterans like zimmerman and long that he hold on that he just likes on the rock not not even if they don't start which though some of those guys are going to start you know rural don's there because he likes world on atmospherics yeah to me uh i think greg picked a 26-man roster and then added rolled on that's sort of how i read it that's probably true remember the uh the uh quote where he was like i want to know where i'm what what's my what's my position with this team what am i doing here yeah i want to be a starter he said he thought he should be he told greg he thought he should be a starter and now he's completely fine with not starting which is something brooks would not be fine with so that's why he's welcome back and brooks is not because if brooks doesn't play he will [ __ ] and moan and complain christian you'll get called in you'll still make your world cup bonuses come on i mean he's a professional athlete so he's going to be confident in himself and i mean he just he just won the club world cup and was it not hey greg you know i know you have interest in me wanting to actually play and perform but i'd be much better suited for sitting off on the sideline and doing a raw raw cheer you know yeah everybody motivated that'd be cool right right he would he would definitely like to play there's no doubt about it but i don't really think that even as well as he plays for seattle i just don't see a place for him um as a starter or even a backup on this team unless something really traumatic happens to a bunch of guys so i think you know his days might be numbered eventually like legits but i don't think it's going to be until after this world cup we'll see i mean we'll see if he makes that 26 if it's even going to be a 26 i mean if it's going to be 23 he's certainly not going to make it but potentially 26 i mean not everybody's going to dress for the uh for the games so you need somebody who's going to be comfortable wearing the penny right like you don't want the guy wearing the penny to to be like causing stress in the locker room because he's not uh dressing for the game so that is an important factor in team building uh i know i know a lot of people don't give credit to that that they they don't think about these types of things but it is gonna be important uh to have that chemistry in the locker room and um if you read about successful teams i mean that's something that if you read like the uh the the accounts and the biographies of professional athletes and successful teams every successful team has that guy who's on that team who was not a contributor on the court or on the field or on the pitch or whatever that was a contributor in the locker room that people attribute part of the success to that group to that guy that that is a reality uh whether or not christian role don's gonna be that guy or not i don't know but there are more and more reports on that note um i'm hearing through the grapevine so these are just rumors and memos rather than actual public reports that when brooks was pulled at halftime versus honduras he threw the biggest [ __ ] hissy fit you have ever seen in your life slamming lockers punching things throwing his shoes across the room anyway just let him hear just what i'm hearing i've been right all the time so if you don't want to believe me now at this point if you don't want to believe me hey twitter twitter agreeing with us derek not you sam i know you know you've got to take what i say with a grain of salt yeah i'm a clown but i know people so i i these are legit people and i do have to you know well you know you know meg too we saw it we we saw it on the on the broadcast like right now he said it flat out we saw his body language on the broadcast and people on twitter even talked about like is greg losing the team and that was a big discussion topic is greg losing the team just because of kind of the way that he carried on and i definitely went back and zapruder filmed the uh the uh what was it the honduras game where we were away in honduras and john brooks got taken off the field and uh and the us came back and won that game uh i did watch to see whether john brooks joined in on the celebration of the uh of the goals and on the first goal where we came back like the whole bench cleared and went and it joined the pile and i did not see john brooks in that pile i didn't see him either i didn't see him i know that's circumstantial and that doesn't mean anything i'm just saying if you go back and watch that replay you will not see the boise six foot three bald john brooks in that pile maybe he joined right after maybe he was just out of shot of the camera i don't know let's be frank let's be frank he is a little slow so he may have just gotten there a little late hey by the way for the younger people here uh i mean some people here who don't know what the subreddit film is that was that was the the footage caught that that caught uh president kennedy's assassination there was a goal later in the game where he actually celebrated so you could see him on camera celebrating but in the first one i didn't see it uh but i i do still think that um even drama aside and i know a lot of people want to make it between brooks and greg burhalter which is not necessarily what it could be it's not the only reason you're right you're right sam no no i mean there could be issues with john brooks and other people in the locker room like maybe he's not a fan favorite with other people maybe it's not necessarily greg needs to make up with john it could be maybe john needs to make up with other people the players council yeah yeah i'm just saying i'm just putting that out there because a lot of people are making it strictly between john and greg and there's no indication that that would be the case compared to anything else it could be a whole laundry list of issues going on i'm not saying it's john and other players i'm saying it's it could be that as much as it could be anything else what i am saying is if you told me that john brooks was going to be our starting center back in the world cup the way we're playing now i'd be very concerned because in the games that he played for the us he showed that he's not capable of playing that style of high line defense high pressure defense where you have to defend against basically half the field behind you he got burned over and over again and if you do not believe me i put together a video uh illustrating it's like four or five of those instances where john brooks just got beaten for pace and and that is a concern let's see what felipo has to say felipe says we have now one of the most vague reporting on or vague no vague reporting on the bur halter and john brooks saga months after after several inconsistent reports we all figured it was personal between greg and brooks now we have our beloved media saying sources told them it's a personal problem well [ __ ] you guys because we were saying that eight months ago i mean not youtube there's 16 months people felipe calls it out too basically they're either they're either holding on to it themselves not releasing it or they're six to eight months too late because everybody else has been saying it yeah well do you know what he's referring to it was a um uh allocation disorder podcast between uh sam stachel and gosh i can't remember the other guy's name mikhail glacione or something like that he's a two-day na reporter uh who's a sideline reporter for um for the mexican sam but we don't yeah we don't know that other guy yeah he um he's italian venezuelan i think uh but anyway uh throughout the podcast sam was ripping him for um being having so many hot takes on twitter and he does have a lot of hot takes uh if you follow him on twitter the guy i'm referring to i somebody put his name in the chat i can't remember it um but he did kind of throw that out and sort of like tack said he kind of threw it out in a in a very vague way where he said that there was uh a locker room issue and he didn't necessarily say whether it was between uh john and greg or john in the locker room or john or whatever so he he was super vague about that and you know i i don't know how much weight we want to put behind that or anything else i don't think that it's like a um a red flag or like a how would you say that like a nail in any coffin in any story um but it's just another piece of the puzzle well chris gary mentioned in the little piece before that meg was really the first one to kind of intimate the conflict you know that there was a growing a brewing thing that could become a thing i don't know how you could watch that broadcast without seeing that everybody saw it we saw it in the canada game and then we saw it in the honduras game and then she traveled with the team so she could see it firsthand like more than we could we could see in the um in the in the summer uh in the game i think against switzerland where like john got burned a few times and then just just turned and ripped whoever was around him um just tore into him and since john's been going gone we really don't see that much like we really don't see these players like tearing into each other like that i don't know you're right you are right the only guys that throw many hissy fits are like rayna on occasion like oh i mean how many touchdowns is he called in a game seriously i'm over here you [ __ ] i'm wide open putts yeah i mean you get it but you're right it's more of the team the team does not get like jump all over each other's balls you know it's it's a yeah it's a more ball snuggling sort of community yeah the swiss game is when he cuts dust out yeah that was one yeah that was that was that the game dest was playing out left yes that makes sense because that's obviously where brooks plays but uh um but yeah and yeah it really wasn't even death's fault 100 at all but he yelled at him anyhow regardless of whether it's death's fault or not that was how he handled any type of issue on the field i mean we saw that a few times from him and since he's gone uh we haven't seen that that element and it seems like the team has been a lot more positive and that's that's just i i don't have any uh internal knowledge or anything like that this is an observation mate made from uh watching these broadcasts so there uh obviously burr halter's come out a number of times and said that he doesn't he he's not the type of coach that's going to throw a player under the bus but is this a is this a drama that he has orchestrated him incident incidentally from not throwing a player quote-unquote under the bus wouldn't have just been easier flat-out say hey there's some attitude issues with john brooks right now he's going to be taking some time off the team and maybe we'll readdress us in the future rather than keep shifting the goal post every window until finally you had an entire fan base going there's something [ __ ] up and wrong with this yeah because there's been five different excuses so he hasn't thrown him under the bus he's generally he's drove like a golf cart over him like eight times you know he's been throwing him over the entire bus to just get this [ __ ] over with and kill the [ __ ] but he's he's giving him all kinds of injuries and slow damage you know what i'm saying well i think the big the big part is that john brooks is out of contract with his with his club and uh we all know during the season uh bill put out a couple of articles saying that he he had an attitude problem and and whatever else so there was already some um we had a negative he said much the same thing yeah yeah so there's always some negative press out there about him so if you end up in a situation where the national team coach comes out and says that he's got attitude issues and he's a problem child uh that is hitting john brooks in his pocketbook directly right that's going to make it even harder for him to get and get it get a club um so i i do understand from that perspective why uh greg wouldn't want to throw a player under the bus and i can respect that and the second part is um if he comes out and says it's an attitude issue or says something like that yeah he can't say that then then reporters are going to be asking players during press conferences what's hap what happened with john brooks you know they're going to be it's gonna be that and and i think that that could be a distraction as well and then the other part is if it's not an attitude issue at all if it truly is uh issues on the field if he comes out and says he's not fast enough he's getting roasted whenever we play a high line uh he's a little bit too old and slow like what good does that do anybody you know yeah but he said that was one of the goal posts he shifted to in the end though he's like he's got six eight things he needs to work on one of them is running up 40 and four well no he didn't see the 44th thing but he did intimate very clearly that the way we plan to play right now john brooks doesn't really fit into our system currently we're going to work on those with him and get back and then i agree to you the way he says it though is really uh you have to read into it because he doesn't say that about john brooks about john brooks he'll say there's some issues or some things we got to work on we want him to he he's looking for a club we're going to be really interested to see how he's playing with his next club when somebody else later on asks him a question about center backs is whenever he really gets into defining what he's looking for in a center back and you can intimate from that that john brooks does not fit that role that he's describing um and that's that's a pretty easy conclusion to draw but he he doesn't make that he doesn't say this is what we're looking for and john brooks doesn't fit that role directly so the way he's handled it is is a little um vague i guess you could say vague but you could also say kind of shielding the player as well yeah i'd agree i think michael may have uh leaked out the excuses for the next couple windows because uh chris says in september it's gonna be sorry john you couldn't make sorry john couldn't make it today he's going to mars with elon musk and then here is the reason why he won't be there okay elon musk is not going to mars anytime soon brooks brooks likes pineapple on pizza so we decided to leave him home this time i'm pretty convinced at this point since uh since miles robinson went down and chris richards got injured in this window and john brooks still isn't called up he ain't getting called up that's it it's done so yeah okay enough [ __ ] we made that call we've been saying that since january we all know all of us know what's going on here all three of us so we'll move on um are we still at center back no we're moving on to forwards because we already talked about midfield but um how excited are you for brendan aronson's move to leeds sam uh i'm very excited for it uh it seems like just the exact right type of club that he should be in i mean he spent his whole life in this high energy high press situation uh and he ends up getting an opportunity to go to the premier league play in the best league in the world and play in a system that is not only super similar to the one that he's been playing his entire life but is gonna be coached by a coach that he's played under uh so knows exactly what he what type of player he's getting and exactly how to utilize them so i think it's like you know the best scenario you could hope for in my opinion um for um for a player like uh brenda narraton now that being said uh jesse marsh just left rb leipzig where he had tyler adams and it wasn't like tyler adams had a banner season there he was relying heavily on tyler adams while he was at the club but once he left the club uh tyler adams lost the spot and uh kind of had a disappointing season um so it's not like this is easy money and and um brendan aaronson's absolutely going to be a no doubt player but for the amount of money that he's going for i mean 30 million dollars yeah if you're leads like you're going to play them right there's and the reception reception seems to be good so far i mean from leeds i watched like seven lead show now shows on youtube now so it's like why because well jesse marsh is there and now aaronson's there so hell yeah i'm gonna be all that [ __ ] uh red bull uh salzburg i ended up posting something on twitter it's like uh it was like it was posted a meme of a bunch of people walking out the door when it said news of aaronson heading to leeds and there's a bunch of u.s people leaving the door or whatever yeah i saw that yeah they're a fun team man i'm excited to watch next year i kind of watched a little bit of them whenever jesse march took over uh but i'm excited to get a full dose of leads next season cheering on brendan and we'll see what happens how the leads fan react if in fact and by the way i don't think it's gonna happen because his release clause is 40 million dollars so i just don't see that's a lot of money i think they could get two players for that price or three even that are serviceable players and maybe not great players but that's a lot of money for to get atoms to leads don't you think that seems like it to me but the one thing i will say about aronson and this is what aaronson has that um that's maybe sergeant doesn't have and why he's gonna succeed where he's going like aronson has as we say in german uh de hoden the testicles the tensions the translations the big balls the testicular fortitude like that that kid will never his confidence can never be crushed there's no way to crush aaron's confidence he is abundantly confident like i mean you'd have to stick him in a cell and feed him scraps of tuna for three months and tell him he's a piece of [ __ ] for him to ever stop believing that he is the he's a great player he's gonna be a great player you know what i mean i think the argument to that would be the worst game that we saw from aronson was the uh first game of world cup qualifiers whenever he played as a midfielder against el salvador uh he got he got bodied he he got thrown around yeah and he's gonna be moving from from a league in austria to the premier league which is one of the most physical leagues in the world so how does uh his his huevos his cojones whatever you want to call him uh i'm just i'm translating from german to spanish how do they uh how do they they they uh how do they handle the the power and physicality of the premier league that's gonna be a question mark yeah and based on his physical um his footage on the physical he still needs to get in the weight room yeah now i mean he's a blue collar type work worker in the midfield and i think he's basically going to draw a ton of fouls for leads i think that's going to be the gist of it he's going to get shoved off the ball um i'm not saying he needs to bulk up but he needs to get rid of the baby fat i think finding that center of gravity man you don't have to necessarily be a huge guy to no drug off tackles but you know messi was never a big guy and he could just take him with the best of them and keep going so yeah but figuring that out messi's is proportional whereas aronson has a long torso so he's not gonna have that center gravity gotta have that hockey player ass yeah he's he's gotta bulk up a little so here and there or else like pulisic he will get pushed around a lot in the beginning so um how about [ __ ] right are we how much are we gonna see with him in these next four games i mean he's the only other striker on the roster at the moment so we gotta see some of them right like yeah we heard we heard we heard from morris's mouth that he has been asked to play the nine so yeah george oh yeah derek hates want to keep bringing this up you mentioned that on conrad's show he's like yeah you know coaching staff came up to me as if i wanted to play the nine i said yeah sure and they said yes doesn't look like it i mean so i'm in a position where i'm not a huge uh [ __ ] right fan at the moment i i just he's kind of ever since watching him at schalke i'm having a hard time getting over that impression that he left with me from shaka i understand that that was a few years ago now and he's been playing lights out uh just about everywhere he's been since then turkey yeah yeah yeah so i i i'm ready my heart is open my heart is ready if he comes out and he he lights it up if he shows me any type of spark at all i'll be on the [ __ ] right train immediately but i'm a little bit apprehensive at the moment i definitely think we're going to see him i think we're going to see some experimentation man because we only have two strikers um and and maybe malek tillman gets some opportunity in that role maybe we see tim waya maybe we see um jordan morris whoever else get get some get some run there maybe i mean christian pulisic got some some run there for uh chelsea so maybe you know i think we gotta we gotta figure something out well chemistry wise this might be great because we uh played with all the other young guys in the you in the youth teams he knows he knows felicity he knows yeah he knows well who who would you say [ __ ] you said that way uh played with oh no no i think you meant to say hi wait was there too because you mentioned he played with i'm like yeah yes so he knows all the youth guys you know he was there through all those youth camps with all those guys so i mean chemistry that might be a good thing we'll see what happens he is a he's a p-fuck with i think better foot skills and he's faster yeah he's faster so we'll see what happens there um that scares me though like you you say he's a pea [ __ ] and and that scares me because i i don't think that pfock has ever looked good for the national team um yeah great against honduras what are you talking about for a moment he looked great for a moment for like five minutes he scored the winner i know but but in the end um and people are saying oh yeah pfox gonna make this big move away from young boys no he's not to where the bottom of the french first division for some new team that just got promoted because that's the best he's gonna do i'm sorry i don't care if he's the goal scoring leader in in switzerland um outside of three teams in that league two teams for some there's not much going on there i think derek is faster than p5 not anymore my friend you should have seen me play golf this weekend he was pathetic i could barely i played night they allowed him to bring on his walker too that's a sad thing like somebody leads the league in scoring for turkey every year and somebody leads the league in scoring for the swiss league every year yep they don't necessarily go on to play for real madrid right like we don't necessarily know who these players are right it's not like everyone who does well in that league translates i remember when josie alsador was at um was at azmar he was the second biggest striker prospect in the league because wilford bonnie was the number one guy and uh bonnie got a transfer was it gosh did he go to man city first and then the swansea or did he go to swansea and then man city uh but he never he never worked out at all really worked out yeah it's there's a long history of that yeah it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to translate uh as you move up in league um as in whenever you move out of a system that kind of fits you exactly right so i mean there are some awesome examples of dutch center forwards who came to uh you know the premier league who were awesome but that was mostly 20 years ago 10 years ago at best at this point right yeah so i mean it's hard to name another one like really risk well manchester united had uh van persie he was great but you can name it still a time ago that's a while back you can look at timo werner as a player who lit up the bonus league and was an absolute no doubt striker prospect he was i mean written in pen that he was going to come to the premier league and that was going to work that was what chelsea needed and he has just been unable to find the back of the net at all uh yeah there's there's just there's no uh he gets a bracer hat trick once every blue moon yeah okay i'll give you that but like for the for the price tag and for the expectation that they were looking for from him he hasn't lived up to that no and that just goes to show that there's there's no clear math here there's no like straight up right answers like we don't know it's just like the nfl draft like it is largely a educated crap shoot yeah it is and you know the thing really is that the difference is between someone like uh verner and say holland is that werner is too nice and he accepts failure in a very personal way way he's not like ultra confident we're a guy like holland there's no stopping that kind of guy i don't care where he goes next he's going to score more goals i just i just he's egotistical to a point of i failure is not an option i just recently uh re-watched the highlight of uh norway is norway he plays for norway right yeah norway norway versus uh uh honduras and like the u20 world cup yeah where uh holland got like 11 goals like a 20 20 to 00 stomping of uh of honduras but yeah that was a sick well the thing about holland right now is he's going to be going to play under pep guardiola which is going to be a ton of expectations on him um tactically uh he's gonna be expected to carry a lot of weight on the tactical side of the game he's not just gonna be a straight up goal scorer so is he gonna be able to carry that weight in possession i mean my bet would be yes i have a feeling he will um but i mean you look at a guy like uh lukaku who arrived at uh chelsea uh with similar expectations um and he was frustrated by thomas tuckle system he was frustrated by the offense and kind of uh is another guy that didn't quite live up to the expectation everybody had for him whenever he arrived at chelsea um so but to be fair to him who wasn't frustrated on chelsea i mean you got zayach verner zukaki zukaku excuse me uh police yeah i mean holistic you've got a lot of guys that are frustrated too cool because his rotation is just maddening you know it's maddening you never know who's gonna play yeah and he really would attack i mean they basically had a three-man attack i mean they they play really conservative soccer over at chelsea so there's it's not like chances come in bunches they really rely on that front three to create a lot so it is frustrating for for it's kind of frustrating to watch and i mean they i remember whenever uh when tucle got there and he turned it around for him i mean they got a lot of one-to-nothing games a lot of two to one a lot of one to nothing a lot of kind of a david moyles moist style you know it's not like they were pouring them in yeah chris gary says i'm popular opinion but we are better off playing with that and i uh i mean isn't jesus for kind of a false nine when he plays for us so i think he checks back far enough that he could almost label him as a 10 with two two wide strikers almost playing with them who can cut in depending on where the ball is so and they suddenly because it's not an unpopular opinion a lot of people have that opinion that maybe we don't play a true nine and we haven't we have enough offensive talent up up top that maybe we don't play with somebody with their back to goal we just move somebody pinch them in and then they all shift around i don't know something something to be different i think the frustrating thing for uh or one of the many frustrating things about this national team over the last over throughout world cup qualifying as you look at them and you say what do they really need they need a creative spark in in the front three uh somebody who can receive the ball and find passes uh somebody who can score on their own somebody who's uh strong but also um uh agile and somebody who can uh just just be that type of game changer we didn't really get that from ballistic but we also weren't able to get that from geo arena and you look at this team and just think about what geo arena could mean to this offense and even for the brief minutes where we've seen him throughout qualifying just the impact that he's had on the national team and to think that we're just not gonna have him uh i mean if you're if you're considering playing without a striker i think giorno would be one of the guys at the top of the list or at least somebody who needs to be in the front three to make that work successfully uh and the fact that we haven't had him for so long is just another kind of um just one of the many issues that we've had throughout welcome qualifying that can be attributed to to players not being available at the right times i think it's really interesting because um you know they're similar philosophies in some ways there's um sort of a they inter interlocked at some point but if you look at jesse marsh and you look at burr halter they do have some similarities the difference is that jesse marsh has like three different formations in his pocket right but burkhalter doesn't and so jesse marsh can march up four two three one out there no big deal and people like him [Laughter] greg has marched out some different formations um we didn't see many yeah we saw the three-man backline in world cup qualifying but we started listening to the 433 i think a lot of that can be attributed to um to lack of time with the squad um and i think that that's a big part of it whenever you're having players who are becoming integral parts of the team still being introduced like during the middle of world cup qualifying it's tough to really expect that team to um be versatile and to be able to handle a lot of changes whenever you're still trying to figure out a plan a and you're still introducing new guys to the group um so i i do understand that a little bit and i do reminisce about kind of the um the klinsmann era where he would kind of tell the team the formation uh right before kickoff and be like all right guys you go figure that out remember what that was like uh which was difficult and you'd have like um uh jermaine jones and michael bradley like trying to coach the team uh during the games uh i i remember all that yeah and then jermaine jones go going up to klinsmann at like the 35th minute and going this [ __ ] is broken this has got to change dude you cannot continue to do that yeah yeah we're on the sidelines in english too man thank you communicate well he said it was a german accent you know so yeah i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna do an impression right now i'm not gonna offend my mother all right um let's uh do some questions and we'll call it a night because we're getting on uh when we're at 40 hey has this gone fast for you too sam oh yeah okay because bretton always do these we're like okay and i'm not paying attention to the time or episode 30 minutes long and i look up and i expect it to say like 31 minutes and it says an hour and 20. and i'm like what's going on we didn't even talk about uh ariel and sergeant i thought that was gonna be a big discussion topic ariel is on fire sergeant needs a pair of balls end of disguise that was that was a hot topic on twitter man yeah man what poor jake what happened what happened i'm not on twitter you guys let me in on what's going on here you got it jake from fifa america it's called soccer put out a a picture of paul area and it said that like at this moment in time paul areola is better than josh sargent or something like that better farm i don't want to miss i think my response was going to be but i read the comment section i saw that a bunch of people already said it but that's because sergeant's injured right right and when he wasn't injured he played and he started you know yeah out of position too but he played it and he played it as hard as god damn hard as he could just didn't work so rigelio hey buddy how are you i hope you're great send us some money no just kidding um yeah this is one one dollar we're sending out these uh these cheney these chain mails like that they used to do like you know you send five dollars back to us we'll send one dollar out to others you know how that works out pyramids gaming all right for this june window has there been any confirmation that some players might leave after the friendlies or will the whole roster be together throughout the whole camp contributing for all the money i mean i i can't i don't understand why i can't click on this i mean i've never i rarely do community posts and they're driving me nuts yeah one reason i can't click on [ __ ] yeah won't let you click the three dots at the end the i guess the point is that at one point greg said some of these guys are going to go take a a breather or a break i guess that's going to be ballistic i don't know but i'm not sure who's getting a break no one knows i remember um during the nations league window last summer um after the u.s won the uh nations league against mexico and then they had that follow-up game against costa rica i can't remember where players sent home or not i thought most of them just rode pine the the key starters yeah just yeah that's true because they showed that shot of like pulisic mckinney and adams on the sideline like looking like the best friends click on the three dots brett i can report or i can highlight cannot click there's nothing to click the three tiny dots at the very end do you not see my mouse over top of it right now clicking on it click click click up and to the right technical difficulties all right i don't know yeah i don't know i don't know all right anymore yes say next next uh what is the most controversial worst world cup roster decision in your opinion i say when bruce left me off in 06 there's at least two i can name but i'll let you start sam or you need time he's gotta be donovan yes that was one of mine yep that was my biggest yeah how about john harks yep i mean that entire 1998 world cup is is a is it whole discussion i mean the the way that was like the original um mls versus europe uh roster and a lot of those guys uh that had become the big stars were not given a lot of opportunities like i don't think eric winalde got much time in 98 and alexi lawless didn't play much in 98 and what was his uh marcelo balboa didn't play much in 98 they turned it over to a lot of um european guys a lot of guys who were dual nationals and it didn't end up going well a lot of locker room issues um not just from the incident but just from those two groups of of the the 94 mls guys mixing with the new dual internationals and the new crop european guys it just wasn't handled well all the way around um that's way too much discussion about 98 i'm sorry no but you're right we've all blocked out of our memory you're right about that 98 was a bad yeah that was a bad one um but yeah i agree with that and we all know at this point that that was personal that wasn't about landon donovan not being great during the gold cup lead up or not being in shape once he came back from his little venture out into the woods you know it wasn't like that and then all in fact there who was the the coach who quit he became the dallas fc coach later on cabrera he was one of the coaches that said if you cut donovan off this team for personal reasons i quit and he did he quit the next day and it wasn't because so you know one of the things they did with under klinsman uh the first things they did was run until you die that's one of the things they uh they did and he was the last one running everybody else is killed over beckerman first everybody else last so yeah 20 pounds of hair on your head yeah it's gonna happen yeah i know he finally cut that and then he you know retired afterwards because yeah disappointing man the uh maybe he wasn't his classic landon donovan but the idea that he wasn't one of the best 23 players was just i mean absolutely ludicrous mind-boggling for the rest of us yeah it was totally disappointing considering how many people were excited and fell in love with the game in 2010 and lana donovan was the absolute hero of that world cup and then four years later to see him um just kind of put up on the cross like that for american soccer i'll just i'll never not be over that i i mean and then is jonathan clinton's man doing that tweet what a cut out yeah what a dumb thing to [ __ ] tweet i mean at least his dad should have said you don't say [ __ ] about what we've been talking about at the dinner table [ __ ] you keep your [ __ ] tweet ass mouth shut but he didn't and then it became obvious it was personal yeah yeah um and people can you know they're people who just think oh yeah you lost it man he quit on the team too you went on vacation well you've been playing for [ __ ] two seasons straight [ __ ] straight from la back to everton back to lla back to everett i mean how many [ __ ] he needed a breather and plus he going through a divorce which was very traumatic for him give the guy a chance to [ __ ] you know go off and camp and jerk it off underneath the trees in private god damn we are so cruel to people to players sometimes yeah i've always if i ever got an opportunity to interview landon donovan i would ask him about um about mental health for athletes and about however he was playing and he took that sabbatical that was just seen as like the worst thing an athlete can do and then what is it like 15 years later just the amount of intelligence and education about mental health for athletes has come so far to the point where like during the olympics i forgot the name of the gymnast who uh who who took that mental health break uh simone biles yeah she was held up as like a hero for that and i kept help couldn't help but think like what would landon donovan think about this uh because he did that so long ago and and you know klinsmann just held that against him and now you know you watch like i watch drive to survive and every single driver has a mental health coach and you know every single club has a mental health guy on staff and that's that's become so such a big part of uh professional athletics yeah just just an interesting thing i would love to hear lana donovan talk about and actually if dortmund got a medical stuff yeah well i i will also guarantee you that klinsmann being a german at the time especially he's an old school german then you [ __ ] about mental health yeah so that's not a thing in germany don't be a [ __ ] you are you are weak if you don't have your [ __ ] together it's not cuz like um you know i had this discussion with my mom who's german and she said so-and-so doesn't care anymore why doesn't he care i was like mom some people can't care because they have no control over the fact that they don't care anymore like there's an emotional thing inside them that says [ __ ] it you know i don't care anymore that's a mental health issue when you say you know what [ __ ] everything [ __ ] it i don't care that's a mental health issue that should be taken seriously and sometimes and lyndon diamond didn't even go that far he said listen in order for me to care i need a [ __ ] break and he took it and now we understand who's the guy on the cavaliers uh who had that issue this the the center when they won the championship with uh lebron and you're asking me about the wrong sport yeah i can't remember all i could think about lebron yeah kevin love you nailed it and he was a first basketball guy to really come out and talk about his mental health issues like he had anxiety attacks and you know that's tough to deal with you're supposed to be scoring three-pointers and you can't breathe on the on the court you know because you're hyperventilating because you're having a panic attack so i'm glad we're kind of addressing some of those things yeah um chad's coming out and saying kevin love too so yes uh chambers says that balboa did a q a where he talked about how samson's samson completely lost or destroyed the locker room and it was a miserable time yeah i mean you should not have bought brought a a bat to the locker room and just start hammering all of them no i think he meant that in a metaphorical way okay chris gary says it's funny that jonathan plays for the same club that has a statue of donovan yeah that's kind of funny uh let's see and then raganuga says mental health is an important issue it sure is now especially as we see the numbers rise after the rhona people are having a hard time dealing with getting back to normal life so antonio bender says check out the 96 women's olympic gymnastics team uh chicks were landing tricks with goddamn broken ankle no i get it that's strong mentality right there but they did it because landed one but they weren't affected they had a strong mentality but sometimes you don't i mean a lot of people aren't equipped with the right sort of um way to handle with with uh conflict and challenges and and depression and things that happen we are taught that in school like how do you deal with the fact that you're really depressed i lost my dog last week on wednesday and i've been crying once a day last time was yesterday i'm still not over it i had him for 15 years so you know am i going to get over it yes like any normal human being i will but some people won't be able to get you know over certain things so yeah especially an athlete in today's day and age where people have so much access to you yeah fans can reach out and talk to you wherever you are yeah yeah yeah i advise all athletes just to stay off social media it's everywhere man like uh yesterday yesterday i put out a tweet i was watching the uh the sounders game and i put out a tweet that said um the seattle sounders can play some pretty soccer whenever they're feeling it that was the tweet that was it yep i got a response almost immediately that said uh jordan morris is garbage and then a reply to that tweet that said jordan morris shouldn't be anywhere near the national team jesus and i was just like what i didn't say anything about jordan morris like what you opened the window though man made it made available for me was that necessary did we have to have that in that particular instance like some people yeah they just can't help themselves i think about this all the time i i i'm a person that thinks a lot about uh growing the fan base and bringing more people in and how can we get more people into this thing and i worry that there's people out there that maybe they're from seattle and they went to a seattle sounders game and they went to their first soccer game ever and they loved it man they fell in love with the game with the crowd they're fired up uh they're really excited they find out that the national team has a game coming up they get on twitter to find out about this player they just saw uh jordan morris or even worse christian rolled on and you know maybe they they find out about my videos and they tweet me and say uh what do you think about christian rolled on in the national team and then all of a sudden you know just the avalanche of crap comes down on that person and that's like their introduction to the u.s men's national team fan base and that that that concerns me you know like yeah if they added at christian rolled on right yeah how are we bringing people into this group you know like i know that it's a um i know that it's kind of doggy dog in in any fan base but still i i think about that a lot is i guess my mentality is that anybody who's who's followed any sport yeah you're gonna yeah that's true regardless so in fact i find that most people there are very few people who are gonna be introduced to soccer who have not followed another score prior to soccer so they should be fully aware of that and then they can go back on and say no you know morris looked great against insert random team here and you know well i think the key here all of this i wouldn't have i wouldn't add the players absolutely the key to all this is like the three of us intact and pete we don't just say you know this player's junk and then we move on you know nobody says that nobody says this guy sucks [ __ ] you know we all say they play [ __ ] you've been watching my recent videos man we say hey he's not good at this he's a little deficient here and a little that's an opinion based on what we've seen and for that reason we don't think he should be called up somebody uh that's it somebody brought up in the chat back when we had the uh the roster up they said uh does that really say rolled on with 31 caps and no goals surely that's wrong no it's right it's right but they're painting ignorance on that he does have assists let's be fair all right is that it no bret do i have to say the word more don garber dong yarber says this is uh he's going to copyright the stream i tell you what we're still going through that i don't know if you've had this issue sam using clips of um of uh triple g's u.s soccer videos but and getting copyright struck by mls by mls not some we had one back from some yeah we dealt with that um but this one which is a us soccer interview with greg the last one he did was claimed by major league soccer and i said oh [ __ ] no you're not doing that no [ __ ] way and i called don i'm not going to say his last name there are people there that i've been in touch with before and i called him he's high up on the chain said i left him two messages already and said no way dude you can't do this you better stop this [ __ ] and i called his person under him and i let her know hey this ain't [ __ ] acceptable you work directly with some you shut this [ __ ] down all right if you can't you cannot claim [ __ ] done by us soccer through mls do it as some if you want to do it as some i'll deal with that but don't do it is don't mls claim a u.s soccer video and our our first our first video that was claimed was understandable we took a 20 minute uh a q a with uh with greg and we broke it apart and spent about an hour and 20 minutes on what we did the whole 20. yeah we did the whole twenty this time we used like 15 minutes of not even not even like six minutes of a 27 minute video exactly it was ridiculous well you should be able to comment on it like you should be able to react to it that should be interesting we did yeah i did i got on i challenged it i explained currently great deal can't wait till we get our 2.50 worth of revenue after we get this through that's the thing is they can put a claim against you and suddenly you know there's not a lot you can do about that have you had any issues with that yourself i i never use videos in my videos i don't think i've ever seen you use videos yeah so i haven't had to deal with it i know there's other people that do and i'm curious yeah jake does i think maxwell does i want to reach out to maxwell and see if he's had some issues with that i know all the people who do the uh every every touch by insert player here gets hit by it of course oh yeah they're [ __ ] they're done yeah they make their money on patreon we put a sex six second clip of dwayne holm scoring a goal for huddersfield like three months ago and uh epl or whoever said no done well again it's one of those things like i'm looking at it going we're gonna make like three bucks this is just not worth fighting yeah yeah but this on principle we're gonna fight yeah sam we have to do it so we have to i couldn't let that go [ __ ] the mls intern who did that yeah at least you know i the sad thing is these are people i've met before and people i've talked to before and had communications with when brett and i were setting up our interview um with uh who was it uh oh god i can't remember nonetheless uh john friedman john freeman and so you know i still have these contacts and they've moved up the ladder since then like chatting with chat with doyle off there and they won't even call me back and i was like i didn't call him and say hey you [ __ ] red ass bastard i'm gonna come to your couch and kick your ass if you don't fix this i was very polite about it but polite doesn't seem to work maybe thank goodness derek doesn't have twitter because i i guarantee you it would be immediate tweet of saying for a good time call insert number here and this isn't dawn garber by the way if anyone's wondering it's not don garber i've never met don garber so justin was honestly surprised if you had his phone number too yes um yeah since we were hated by them for a while through the usl years uh or the uh nasl years when we were anyhow oh we'll get past that hey um i think we're done oh [ __ ] we got more oh we got twitter what are you talking about let's hurry up and get through these sam can you hold on a little longer or do you want to go to bed i'm good to do tomorrow hey you should do that line a coke about right now we were talking about earlier i'm just kidding sam doesn't do coke i do no i don't know all right um it's not to say i've never done it i'm not saying that i'm not going to be a liar here who would you guys want as a potential bur halter replacement after qatar should he step down he's not going to step down he'll have to be fired if he goes oh and three it's a big if and i think he stays but if he does leave i look at former dundee and current wales u-20 manager michael torres taurus taurus i'm sure it's taurus in wales they wouldn't say torres that'd be too french i think i'm pretty sure it's taurus i believe it's taurus it's doris i just said it's not french it's taurus i said he goes by mike though i don't know what i mean that's fine i don't know him from a dick in a while i don't know this guy i don't know so i have no comment anybody else yeah i have no idea man humor humorously you said uh you don't know from a dick in the wall since his name is michael taurus michael taurus oh this isn't another oh [ __ ] hey you guys you want to say that guy's always trying to pull on us i thought that you like expertly mispronounced his name just so you can get around it i got totally peeded on that one totally peeded [Laughter] i swallow come yes i got to eat it [Laughter] never let that one down either all right how many more we gotta go this is like four four four four all right let's keep it short shout out brett w this is my alt account by the way first gotta say sam is that dude deserves so much more praise honestly honestly so do you two that rhymed is are is this going to continue to rhyme what's your thoughts on paul areola's form somehow turning into areola first josh sargent debate and specifically how so many people are convinced josh would score 20 plus goals in the mls i think we kind of addressed this but i'll let sam i i think that um i think that brett makes an astute point here where i think this never really was a paul areola versus josh sergeant debate you know we only have like three discussions in u.s soccer and one of them is mls versus europe and this is sort of what this became this just became a satellite war between mls players versus european players and that's all that kind of boiled down to i think i think chris gary was one of the big proponents of josh sergeant with score 20 goals in mls uh which i don't i don't see a lot of evidence of that i don't see a lot of players that can come from big leagues in europe directly to mls and start scoring goals in bunches um there's some that have but there's others who haven't i think even chicharito took a little needed a little runway time before he got into shape goal scoring but i see guys like um particularly particularly whenever we we discuss guys who are on the bottom tier of some of these big league teams um like uh i know we have a lot of players who are on the uh bottom tier of the bundesliga right now and josh was at the worst team in england right now and i remember um gosh now his name is escaping me uh the midfielder who was in germany forever who um who was a a us men's national team hopeful that never really got called in then he removes mls oh okay um gosh all right whoa stanko no no no um alfredo morales alfredo morales was kind of bouncing from uh bonus league two to the bottom of the bonus league yeah yeah and people were calling asking for him to be brought in uh he goes over to mls and he's okay in mls um i think another guy would be like emerson hyman was kind of a um right on the edge of making an epl roster there gets moves over to the scottish uh division scottish romero division scottish premier division the scottish premier league weren't they in division two at the time though when he was lighting it up for them he was never lighting it up for uh in the epl he moved over to rangers and he had a decent loan spell at rangers and then he goes over to atlanta united and he's okay he's a good solid mls player that's where he's at yeah and he's skinny as [ __ ] and that never helped him out either bobby wood is another guy who scored goals in the bundesliga i think bobby wood is is very similar what's that i don't think he was that big of a scorer and bundesliga [Music] i think it was a consistent option for the team you played he scored in two bundesliga but he was nothing in bundesliga yeah bobby was never like a great goal scorer in the kundalini is a solid comparison to what josh sargent is right now like he had some goal contributions i think bobby wood is the type of player that he scored a lot of goals against the run of play he never really was great at scoring within like the team like he he didn't like have uh team goals he had like breakaways and stuff so he always had really exciting highlights but anyway hold on hold on but let's face one fact here sergeant's way more skilled than bobby wood okay number one the problem with josh sargent and this is attitudinally like okay when you look at pulisic when somebody doesn't pass on the wall when he's wide open he says something to the guy who missed him right he's like hey i was right here he looks at him he's like i was right here he doesn't [ __ ] him out but he's like i was right here you got to look at me next time yeah all right but hold on sergeant doesn't do that if you wanted to compare agnitudal testicles even bobby wood has bigger testicles than sergeant when it comes to that how many times did rashika not pass him the ball when he was wide open this year it was pitiful i mean and in the year before and yes and yes and it the other team at bremen so i mean if you had to compare ball sizes i mean right now sergeant is in the attitudinal section has like little raisins even though he he has a kid so obviously those raisins work but i'm just saying that's he needs to say demand the [ __ ] ball like i am confident like hoppy confident give me the [ __ ] ball but he doesn't do that so i i see sergeant absolutely is way too nice and he's too much of a team player quite frankly at this point and going back before he went to bremen going back before he went to bremen he was he was a hard worker he was not only the lead scorer for the u17 world cup but also for the u20 in the same year he went to bremen and then all of a sudden he became a a consistent like starter no no non-sub starter but he played everywhere for that coach hard worker and so then he got he the mentality is driving in that he's got to play a specific role and it's not in the box goal store it's goal scorer so when he does get put in that position he's got a conflict of interest all of a sudden his his mind's telling him to do one thing despite the fact that he should be doing another thing and so we saw that we see that in norwich as well which is why uh and going with uh berlin here uh maybe his best role will be as a midfielder slash winger at this point moving forward i think the thing about me for sergeant and i think derek kind of hinted at this is that he's not he doesn't just not score goals he doesn't get in goal scoring positions it's not like he's not he's missing opportunities or just missing opportunities you watch two or three games for norwich and he might get like one chance like he just he's not in uh constantly threatening the goal we've seen that at norwich we've seen that in bremen and we've seen that for the u.s men's national team so for me players who score a lot of goals are players that are getting dangerous in positions constantly i look at someone like chicharito who chicharito could score goals wherever he played because he's constantly in a scary position where he can score a goal i don't see that from sergeant at all so if he transfers to mls right now i'm not sure that he would be a 20 goal scorer unless he can figure that out and turn that corner and that's another discussion entirely is that players you know the sometimes they find themselves in a situation where all of a sudden he clicks on for him you know he's he's not even a great poacher because as you said he doesn't find the best spot to be in and that's something it is a learned skill yeah one of the frustrating things for me that i always saw from sergeant at bremen that just constantly frustrated me was whenever he was racing to the front post or racing to the back post he just never seemed to win that race with his defender like whenever the ball would arrive it was like the defender would always get a leg in because he never beat them to that spot and whenever you watch a top goal scorer they win that race they get there exactly and brett can relate to this too as a striker sometimes you fake the the far post and then suddenly you kick back to the center and present yourself because the guy who's watching the ball who's you know shielding trying to shield you can't see you make the stop and make the cut back to the center way out in front of him he's lost you and he's still looking at the ball so anyhow uh yeah we don't see enough of that he's got he needs a little wando in him he needs a little hoppy in him he needs a little dempsey in him there's a lot of things sergeant's got to work on so i will say my might when you mention uh me as being a striker um i played for a po dunk country team um just outside in suburbs um i i was the player that demanded the ball non-stop yes so i i never i never really relied on the wingers to get it wide and played in i was always checking the people saying give me the ball turn and then i'm going to take you at the dribble fast i mean i'm going to pick one direction and go and then 75 80 of the time i'll beat you good luck son you slow [ __ ] center back all right oh filippo's chimed in all right pepe scored 13 goals in mls sergeant was actually able to actually score him bundesliga 20 goals and mls is not unrealistic it's not unrealistic but i don't think it's happened in first season i don't i don't even know how sergeant scores goals at this point like what is his strength as a goal scorer scorpion kick like i i know why pepe was able to score goals pepe was able to score goals because uh he got himself in good positions and he was very accurate with his shooting whenever he was able to get in those spots and he was strong and he was he was able to beat people to he was able to beat the first man to the post and get to that spot and he also had jesus ferreira there who was getting him some really nice balls and setting things up for him and you know that helps with sergeant i i don't know i yeah and it also depends what team you go to yeah that's true man you go play for colorado rapids in the state they're in right now you're not scoring [ __ ] so you know i just don't i don't think it's a guarantee it really it's circumstantial so you got to take that into account yeah and ultimately i think that that's a that's the big point is we just don't know like it's hard to make these comparisons sometimes uh players end up in situations that they make leaps that we're not expecting them to make at all you look at somebody like uh uh alfonzo davies who makes the transfer over to um bayern munich and all of a sudden is the best left back in the world or one of the best left backs in the world and like i didn't see that coming at all you know i did not either i thought he would be riding behind but again the prognosticating um is difficult thing to do but yeah so i just think we all of us should be like okay well you know like brett and i we don't do a lot of prognosticating we we we don't do a lot of nostradamus because it's just difficult the best we can do is mind-meld with greg and do our best right you know to me it's one of those situations where where we have these discussions it's almost like saying um okay fc dallas beat the la galaxy and the la galaxy beat uh the seattle sounders therefore fc dallas should be able to beat the seattle sounders you know and like that math just doesn't work yeah hopefully comes back it says only pookie scored more goals than sergeant at norwich well that's not the grandest thing i mean seriously i mean there's a reason why norrish was so far down but still norwich is awful and let's also remember that uh sergeant was also the leading goal scorer for bremen the season they went down too listen nobody's saying that sergeant sucks we're just saying his balls need to shrivel up and they need to be plums not racist shriveled i think maybe you shrivel out or something like that travel out sure they need to become plums not raisins and he's well you also said shriveled up which means that you're turning into raisins at that point that he needs they need to shrivel up i guess you're right i said that wrong yeah i mean we've seen a lot of big time players big time goal european goal scorers head to mls and not yeah hit the ground running you know right so you know you just mentioned him yeah yeah it's definitely possible but you know is it an absolute i wouldn't say it's an absolute at all no it's not it's it's science it'll happen guys 20 goals end of story and besides sergeant's better off going to the championship yeah yeah and scoring a lot of goals like he did whenever they played cup games against lesser teams when he was at the bundesliga he's going to score a lot of goals next season folks so we'll see how many 10 12 14 we'll see eight could be eight maybe he shrivels more booky i think uh is on the outs for that team so he may have to be the center forward next year so we'll see what happens but let's give it time let's not try to nostradamus this [ __ ] you know that's all i'm saying we i mean anybody can make predictions about anything but you know it your squirt's as good as my squirt like at that point you're just guessing right and [ __ ] hits the wall and we see which which [ __ ] works and what [ __ ] doesn't so i'm frustrated um about people talking about pepe's season at um at augsburg because he's so young and it's it's it was such a big change in his life like there's there's no reason to believe that what we saw from pepe over the last three months is what we're gonna see from pepe to start the season or for the rest of his career it's just a very small window uh right and we're reading so much into it because we need him for the world cup and and that's our window of looking at things but in reality and whenever you think about the reality of pepe's career i mean it's just a small blip of time and there's a lot of time for him to get better and same thing with josh sergeant josh sergeant is what 22 20. he's got time yeah yeah he's got time to grow a pair i mean i okay i'll get off the raisins but i'll just say he does need to be more fiery he needs to be he needs to call for the ball he needs to say and and as you said he needs to learn where the space is where he can get open and he needs to punch rashika in the face because there were times last season he was open and rashika just shot that [ __ ] from like 35 yards out and he missed it every time so yeah that's what's the point of that yeah all right chris garrett scored him huh clearly because sergeant outscored him yeah well that was because of that scorpion kick and some other weird [ __ ] that happened leaving my memorial day party early i guess hurt the berlin sold their keeper to bvb dortmund um with a need for a replacement do you see that uh as a good landing spot for zach stefan i'll let you start sam since you're the guest you need an uh you know maybe you need time to think about it but i'm gonna first of all i'm questioning the validity validity of uh chris gary's reporting because he's already outed himself as an unreliable narrator so i don't know whether we should believe is he about to send us a message saying i made that up because i'm not looking into it because he did make some [ __ ] up earlier but theoretically should this be real chris gary should it be real i mean that's his finest spot as any i mean at this point uh anywhere for zach stefan anywhere in the top five league is fine uh i mean he already had did he have one season just didn't hurt to just get relegated they did they lost didn't they pretty sure no they're not they're not relegated no they say well who can't really get anything i think they played i think they played in the playoff and they won i thought oh yeah they did so it appears that uh there was a transfer uh doorman okay i don't know if that's their number one goalkeeper but it looks like they have three other goalkeepers in line listen any place is better than riding pine before the world cup yeah so next there we go brett always said there's four more and there's like six no we just stayed on the sergeant one for 40 [ __ ] minutes okay marcolov what's your score prediction against morocco i honestly don't know what ggg will do in this game i do want to see scally play in epb to get minutes so we already talked about that we talked about this so if you want us to give score predictions i'm going to say 1-1 tie that's mine yeah 14-7 let's go with that right you took my ridiculous answer but i wasn't gonna say seven but it's still gonna go ridiculous i'm gonna go 2-1 nfl scores all right who wins nobody knows sorry let's see here uh chris gary says yeah zimmerman long jedi back four usa lose 3-1 they're going to lose 3-1 not against morocco no way just no way if they do you know tar and feather halter that's what i'm saying i mean not really metaphorically you know with the you know these put the character on the stick and carry them around town they turn feather caricature don't really do it um no we're not going to lose some morocco 3-1 because they're missing all their best players i'll bring up i'll bring up a quick question that came up in the chat a long time ago uh colin reese brought this up i mean it wasn't even a question it's kind of a statement but he kind of feels that if if burr halter comes into these games and just gets stomped like legitimately stomped he thinks that ussf might pull the trigger and pull in a different coach going into the world cup i don't think it's going to happen i think at this point again like we told everybody it's gonna stick the way it is guys oh man at this point it'd have to be like a moral issue yeah he would have had to touch somebody's [ __ ] in the locker room somewhere there's no way that's gonna happen or slap some ass or something like a room absolutely horrible are they oh just like an assistant or the ball girl or whatever he would have to do something really bad so i just don't see it happening like there would have to be moral outrage for him to get fired by u.s soccer at this point yeah yeah he he would need to say that hey you know kitty porn's awesome or something like that you know derek out of context don't say that [ __ ] i'm just saying that's what he would have to say he would have to do something gruesome please the love of god do not clip that well no he would have to say that he would have to say something okay there we go let's bring it back i'm not saying it's just just jerk off into a plan in front of people i'm not saying it's good for you and me i'm saying it's good for the guys that they think that's good you know however that's the louis ck joe yeah yeah all right um i'm sorry i'm sorry we submitted you to so much pain and agony tonight we're quickly nearing the uh meg swanic time period of two hours and 23 minutes so hopefully quit like she would not like brett stop torturing her so unlike unlike meg please stay on after the outro yeah please meg's like i gotta go [ __ ] am i going for some sort of a record or something is that what's happening here no we're not going to look at the clock wait till 2 24 guys just cheer silence go nobody's going to beat simon allen's record but that was early when nobody knew who the [ __ ] we were that wasn't live either yeah and we cut it up into like five hours yeah five hours we just cut that [ __ ] up we were up till two in the morning with this guy we nearly passed out both of us like we could barely talk by the end of the show super [ __ ] drunk at the time too yeah some of those last segments were really really bad so michael cameron did not send us an outro for you sam but i will say that if you have not gone to the yank report and you are not subscribed and you have not hit the like symbol every show and uh joined do you have a patreon no i have a members section on youtube and are not waiting join for the yank report patreon to start at any minute like hungrily punching in in patreon every day yank report then you're just not paying attention sam is one of the great guys out there he's one of our favorites we have you know i mean he's just one of the good guys out there doing this [ __ ] and and we're all trying to break ground together and stay friendly about it even though we don't always agree we didn't agree on everything tonight but that's okay it's okay if we don't okay sam thank you for coming on the show thank you for having me guys i'm i'm like 50 subscribers away from 10 000 right now and 10 000 is going to be some type of celebration i don't know
