Instant reaction to Week 3 AP Top 25: No. 4 Alabama is overrated & No. 7 Tennessee is underrated

let's talk about the week three AP Top 25 and I'm going to take into account some of the things that I saw that are different from my top 25 which you can read at foxsports.com but also where we seem to align because generally speaking the AP and I more or less speak the same language it's just we differ sometimes I think having Texas at number two kind of shocked me you're really valuing what Texas was able to do against Michigan more than I was valuing what Texas was able to do to Michigan because I've been picking Texas to beat Michigan for at least eight months now and Michigan fans were going we love it when you pick against us RJ we always seem to win not this time 31 to 12 and it really wasn't that close so we're all expecting Georgia and Texas to make the a sec championship game right now also Texas got four first place votes which I did not see coming and they got the elite frog Ohio State and I get kind of why Texas has a ranked win on the road against a top 25 team or top 10 team excuse me and then Ohio State you beat an A in western Michigan give it some time Ohio state gets to have their say against Michigan and if they make the big 10 championship game you know that they're a shoe in number four Alabama I actually docked Alabama for how it played against directional Florida I'm also getting to see why Nick San retired why travas Robertson left why Caleb DS left they seem to have some really great pieces but I don't know if this is an SEC championship team and I'm not even sure that this is a college football playoff team depending on what we see from Old Miss Missouri and then we'll see right then we'll see I think Tennessee is Right Where I I think Tennessee is in the spot where Alabama should is right now I think they're the number four team in the country but we're looking at the SEC having the four the five the six and the seventh spot in the AP so we think that there are what is this my goodness seven of the top eight are SEC teams which tells us what the AP thinks of the SEC and also how hard it's going to be for anybody else to get into this thing because only one of those teams can get that automatic qualifying bid as the conference Champion Penn State at eight tried to lose to Bowling Green Oregon I'm not even sure that Oregon is good man teams from Idaho given them a hard time I don't know that teams from Idaho have given many people a hard time in the college football playoff era and it looked for all the world like Boise State was able to pull something out would have got a win on the road and 700 grand for doing so as it was Aston jenty went for 192 on the ground that's the best tail back in college football Miami at 10 I'm fine with that cam Ward and them went for 500 plus yards against FAMU SC blanked Utah State like I know they put up 48 but they also surrendered zero nothing Zada NADA that's great for them also Michigan gets them in a couple of weeks Utah at 12 it's all about cam Rising there when he's at quarterback they can do almost anything Oklahoma State tried anything in their power to lose to Arkansas and yet moves up to 13 because well Notre Dame we'll talk about them in a little bit and then we have Kansas State so Utah Oklahoma State Kansas State I only think we're going to get one team for sure from the Big 12 right now I'm not sure about getting that second team in given what the SEC means I'm also taking a look at what this means for Oklahoma who looked abysmal against Houston we're going to talk about this on the live show tonight but I got a lot of thoughts that we need to unpack particularly about the offense at Oklahoma it just does not look good it's 2 and 0 but you got two lane coming up on Saturday and then Tennessee Comes To Town and I believe that Tennessee is one of the four best teams in the country and they'll probably be that when they show up to Oklahoma and if Jackson Arnold can't get off his first read we're GNA have a long day in Norman number 16 LSU hasn't beaten an FCS uh FBS team yet they're one And1 you know what I'm saying uh Michigan they have beaten an FBS team but they got drummed by someone their own size you ask Michigan to take on somebody their own sides without Conor stallions all of a sudden they don't look so great Chiron Moore set up to be well we'll see number 18 they got Notre Dame I got Notre Dame at 24 Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois on national television and paid $1.4 million for the privilege I'm not at all sold on Riley Leonard I was never really sold on Riley Leonard and I was never really sold on the partnership that was Mike Den Brock and Riley Leonard they're telling me that Mike Den Brock turned Jaden Daniels into a Heisman winner I'm like well Mike Den Brock found something in Jaden Daniels that none of us had seen before and Jaden Daniels found something in Jaden Daniels that none of us had seen before and became a different person in 2023 3,800 yards passing 1100 yards on the ground I didn't see that coming out of Riley Leonard particularly at Notre Dame but they're outstanding defensively they just can't score like they lost the game 1614 to Northern Illinois it wasn't because the defense is bad Xavier watts is a dude Benjamin Morrison is a dude I think that if they can get this thing figured out on the offensive line particularly maybe they can make some noise and spoil some other folks but they dropped 13 spots from number five to number 18 Louisville is at 19 because we got to put somebody there they have not beaten a team in FBA uh excuse me in uh in the power for either Jacksonville State Austin P that's it but they beat them like a drum Arizona was in a ball game with Northern Arizona I think if more people were staying up to watch that they might have dropped in the rankings a little bit more at number 20 Iowa State moves to 21 with a great win against Iowa on the road got a walk-off field goal to seal a 20 to9 Victory really great for them really great for the Big 12 22 we got Clemson who took out the whole 55 gallon drum of whoop ass and poured all on Appalachian State they scored 66 they put up 700 yards of offense they put up 460 through the air I just would like to see them do that against Power four teams they have lost seven of their last 15 or excuse me they've lost seven of their last 15 yeah against Power four opponents Nebraska moves to 23 I had Nebraska in this thing last week they're in it this week too I was just a week ahead on them but Nebraska is a good football team Colorado is not a good football team but that doesn't take away from what we have seen from Nebraska so far which is Dylan Rola is taking care of the football and as long as they're taking care care of the football they got a shot and they should be Undefeated by the time they get to Ohio State I think Illinois could give them a problem but we'll see Boston College gets to 24 off of beating Duane but really it's about beating Florida State on the road at dop Campbell and they get to play Missouri this week and I'm really interested in that because Missouri hadn't played anybody outside the 5A classification right now I mean that that's just it now they got a real football team they gotta play against and then Northern Illinois shout out to them man they get in at 25 I think this is more about we saw you we respect you we love what you did against uh Notre Dame I don't know that they're going to get to stay in this thing but it's very cool to see Thomas hammock and the Huskies really reveling In This Moment Thomas hammock probably gonna get hammock is probably going to be one of those guys that gets a power four job if he's not careful given what the Huskies have shown so far also two and0 Illinois got votes uh 10 101 points after beating Kansas knocking them out of the top 25 Bo State got votes despite the loss to Oregon and I think that's because we know that boy State's a good football team they'll be in the top 25 at one point this year A&M at 68 not real sure about that Syracuse 63 I like that uh Syracuse has won back-to-back games tight end orand Gadson is probably going to win the Macky award this year Kyle McCord is thrown for 350 in back-to-back games with four TDS he's found a nice place at Syracuse and they look like they look like they have something Brewing over there all the teams that we expected to be good save Miami are bad and all the teams that we expect to be bad are good Syracuse Boston College good uh Virginia Tech Clemson North Carolina bad it's wild in the ACC right now Cal be Alburn my goodness uh they got votes Memphis got 38 Washington got 27 Iowa got 24 Kansas got 22 Vanderbilt still catching votes 18 hell yeah go Vanderbilt I I don't give a damn what Vanderbilt does on a football cap Vanderbilt can do whatever they want after opportunity vanderbel out I mean that South Carolina got 10 after thumping Kentucky Liberty got nine Wisconsin got nine UNLV got seven North Carolina got seven Cal got three BYU got two with a win against SMU Central Florida got one Texas Christian got one I think this is fine I think we're gonna find out more as we get into conference play we're going into the last week really of for real non-conference play this week it's going to be some moving and some shaking Alabama's going to have to show me something against Wisconsin because I don't believe that's one of the four best teams in college football right now I just don't see it yeah we'll talk about it
