what word would Neville use to describe Bad Monkey a fun ride a fun [Music] ride hi hi J how are you good you I'm doing well thank you good nice to meet you meet you yes a pleasure to talk to you I I love your character yeah no I love that is he's surrounded by strong woman yes Queen your sister and a monkey and a monkey so how was like like how did you get involved and what attract you to this project uh I I was attracted to the project for so many reasons Bill Lawrence who's behind scrubs and behind Ted lasso and behind shrinking he was at the helm of this story so that's a big draw uh the character of Neville is bamian and I'm also Beaman I was born and raised in NASA and that was really meaningful to me and the script is just really good and special and unlike anything that I had read before and I hadn't read Carl Hon's book that it's based off of before but I have since read it but it felt tonally like something uh super unique super distinct and um and I auditioned for it and actually in one of those kind of the stories you kind of hear about actors being uh recast kind of I I auditioned for it and they went a different direction and then the the actor that they originally pegged for it had a Visa issue if you can imagine that and so I I had another audition and kind of at the Midnight Hour I was I was a part of the project and and the rest is history it's amazing was meant to be for you I like to think yes yes I'm pretty sure because sometimes we do and then life gets another route and then suddenly they ended up coming back to that's amazing amazing amazing also like we me I mentioned about the strong woman but like work with a monkey how is that experience for you and was easier was like tell me a little bit about it right I mean you you you get told you're going to work with the monkey and I'm sure like all sorts of things go through your head and you're like what's it going to be like but from day one crystal is so Crystal is the name of the the monkey in real life and she's so present and so grounded and so honest like monkeys and babies can't lie right and and so being with Crystal was actually the biggest gift for me because every time that we were doing scenes together she just kind of reminded me to tell the truth to just like keep it simple keep it grounded keep it easy that's amazing because she's also also female W all this female yes female energies yes all this energy how is it for you like to work with those amazing actresses like jod and all of them Scott yes very very strong I was raised by a very strong black woman and I have a very strong I mean we say strong but I mean it like strong and resilient and soft and and empathetic and communicative and and and present um all of that goes into what we might say as strong but I was raised by these phenomenal uh by this phenomenal woman and I have a sister and older sister is also phenomenal so I actually feel most at home around that kind of energy where I get to to listen and to um try to be the best that I can be because those around me deserve it you know and it felt the same with El Scott and Jodie and and Crystal um and re andrad who plays Donnie like it was it was a dream it was an absolute dream cuz they're incredible and I was just trying to like do right by them you know it felt like let me do right by them because they're bringing such beauty and such power so I got to up my game wow that's amazing and if your character has to describe for me Bad Monkey in one word which word being n you use it what word would Neville use to describe Bad Monkey a fun ride a fun ride right that's amazing that's amazing I just want to thank you so much for your time congratulations again on your role thank and I love problemist I watch it and I know that you're there oh thank you L thank you so much cheers if you like to support or continue to support Jan camera don't forget to subscribe like comment and share the videos [Music]
