hello viewers welcome back to ssn24 the Washington commanders have made a major move following a rough start to the 2024 NFL season Place kicker Kad York has been released after missing two crucial field goals in the team's 37 to20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kade York originally a fourth round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 NFL draft had a brief tenure with Washington after joining the team during a kicking competition in training camp York failed to deliver in his first game he missed wide right on both a 56 yard attempt and a 47 yard attempt leading the commanders to make the tough decision to release him this move may seem harsh but the NFL is a business and it's often Cutthroat as coach Dan Quinn put it we will get there I'm disappointed but if it's not right you don't sit Pat the commanders had been facing kicking troubles all offseason ever since Joey Sly left the team in free agency a series of signings and releases followed including Ramy ammed and Riley Patterson but the search for a solid kicker remains York's time in Cleveland was similarly shortlived as he only hit 24 of his 32 field goal attempts during his rooky season leading him to lose the camp battle to Dustin Hopkins he bounced around the league before the commanders brought him in but unfortunately he couldn't find his footing in Washington the commanders are now expected to sign Austin cyber as their new kicker ahead of week two against the New York Giants hoping to solidify their special teams unit that's all for today's update on SSN 24 thank you thank you for tuning in be sure to like share and subscribe for more sports news we'll be back with more updates as the season unfolds stay tuned
