and just finally we can't let you go without talking about your little man Cruz so little anymore me now so what about the just a special moment I know he didn't get the result but his debut um in the Juniors what was that like for you uh no it was a great day for me and the whole family really um you obviously Cruz has been around the the tennis courts in the circuit for a number of years he knows what it's all about but uh for him to get the chance as you know he's only just turned 15 last month so he's still very young still very immature out there and and to to go through those experiences and I guess the nerves as well of going and playing on a on a main showc to Grand slam's pretty awesome the Australian crowd was unbelievable with him as well uh everyone getting out there and supporting him so it was a lot of fun it was more nerve-wracking for Beck and myself in the crowd I think um but he really enjoyed it and you know he he's got plenty of time it's all about you know playing the Juniors is still all about learning and the experience you go through um you want to keep sort of working hard to give yourself an opportunity to one day play on Rod La arena in in the men's game so what do you think would be the main thing he takes out of that loss is it something more technical or just about embracing the experience and and the hype uh it was more about the experience and just the guy that he played was an older he's 17 about to turn 18 he's I think in the top eight or nine in the world as well so for under 18 so you know Cruz is giving him a couple of years experience as well and and you know just learning other ways of playing these bigger stronger players as well so they're important takeaway so he and his coach will sit down and go through it all and work it out and uh it's really about just having fun and enjoying it as much as possible and and hopefully he gets an opportunity in 12 months time and he's a better player you know come you know 2025 do you leave it to to Cruz and coach or does he ever listen to you what's the dynamic no I I help out obviously I I probably know him better than anyone and especially his game style and and how he likes to go about it um but you know he he has his own team around him as well and and we all speak freely about what he needs to work on and then they go out there and try and do it so what's the goal then for the rest of this year does he Target the other slams what's the the plan going forward uh well he'd have to get his rank Junior ranking up quite a bit higher to get into the other Junior Grand Slams um for that he'll be playing the ITF junior tournament some of the Bigg ones around the world but you got to get enough points to give yourself a chance to play against those best players again uh and then he'll play some Futures which is the lowest level of uh the ATP tournaments as well so he'll try and mixture of both of those and and really at this stage it's just about developing your game yeah exciting times ahead for Cru for you for the family and for the rest of the week here at Melbourne Park uh Leon thank you so much always appreciate your time and we'll see everyone tomorrow for another edition of the morning serve Widewater Sports is your home of the Australian Open with highlights of every match of the AO the oncore interviews and every day with the morning serve you'll be ahead of the game so click that subscribe button so you don't miss a thing this Australian Open
