look with the 14th pick the St Louis Rams select Aaron Donald my head just went down like damn it's over with y'all baby we got to find a new place this [ __ ] he coming to take my job it's over with what do you feel like was like the hardest jump from your rookie year to your sophomore year I think because now cuz now we got film on Aaron Donald we got n sex's rookie year now we got we got a game plan for this nights before the Super Bowl like damn I like what would I do if I a Super Bowl what my emotions be like but you never picture that you being a guy to make them key plays to win it you know what I'm saying so be successful to help win games but do you not agree that it it is a dangerous tackle though manuck CH choing your ass I what you say but listen [Music] yo yo yo what it do know charity basketball game we did that right after that [ __ ] was Rock we did a dinner with the family and just took a VI and we here late night vibing right now at the at the house so at the condo in Pittsburgh where I was born and raised at so um you know just staying busy working and trying to do my part to continue to you know motivate the youth man hell yeah I mean that's what that's me you did this game you played this game you dreamed about where you are man I mean I want to be the first I don't want to be first cuz I know I'm not the first I'm probably the last but I'm must say congratulations again on the uh a retirement bro you had a amazing career I watched it lived it and bro you you did the damn thing you did it the right way you a hell of a humble God bro people don't realize this [ __ ] got all these accolades and he still don't want to be acknowledged let him know let him know our favorite say our favor saying hey I'm with ad I'm with ad bro that's he he don't know how strong his name is or just them two little letter A will get you anywhere but man you're a hell of a hell of a guy hell of a player man I'm just man just congratulations I appreciate you brother and congratulations to you yes I had to you was out The League I had to get out of there I like you know we played what seven years together seven years you know grew a real Brotherhood Beyond football that's going to last for a lifetime so um you know we we did it all you know um we left it all out there right um blessed to be in the position we in today obviously and and get to be home and next chapter next life sir um doing a lot of different things now we got them business caps on and um you know being being dads you know so um hands is full but was still staying busy and working so that [ __ ] crazy you said something today earlier he was like how the [ __ ] I quit my job and still busier busier than I was when I was playing football but that's just crazy you know like I tell people all the time I retired from football I a retired from from life yet so I'm just trying to continue to you know do what I need to do to continue to build generational wealth for my kids and they kids and they kids so um just staying busy man hell yeah I mean you got to stay busy man you you ain't being busy you go and die man go di you ain't busy um you know when you think about the origins of you know where ad started you know how he got to this point what would you say you you started from what got you into playing football and the passion so [ __ ] in Pittsburgh you know obviously um when I was 5 years old I remember my dad took us to a low leag football game we was in the stands watching it and it was like you like that yes sir I like that you want to play football yes sir I play football and from five and six years old old to you know being 33 years old now um been playing football every single year since so um obviously my dad was a huge part of me playing sports um my brother plays Sports my dad played Sports um had a um a football background you know we was a big football family so um you know my dad got me working out at a young age and you know we always say to this day like my dad was PR preparing me to be a pro before we knew what we was doing it started off just trying to you know get me out the lazy stage but it grew to something bigger than we ever thought it can be man and um to see where we came you got the opportunity to play 10 years in the National Football League leave my leaving my own terms yes on top you know um it's a blessing man so um it it was a long journey a a whole lot of hard work and you know accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish and and and and surpass that and accomplish more than I ever thought was possible um so um you know it's E I always say like I'm living I got to live my dream but I surpass my dream right um got to live every High every low from Individual success to team success um was blessed to be able to make the money I made from playing football to be able to create my own and do certain things out out of football to create my own lane so um you know I'm truly blessed you know had a career I had so that's awesome bro that's talking about like having your dad in your life so how do you feel like um that affected you uh going from having your dad take you to a football game up to him being every step of the way you seeing him at the games and you knowing like my dad expect this much like this from me I got to do this I got you know what I'm saying because my dad watching and a lot of kids don't have that yeah you're right but he he was always my motivation like he was at every single practice right um you know and if I have if I had fast that practice he tell me you practice the way you play you had fast that practice you going have fast in the game and I always took that so you know at practice I always like I'm going to take it like the game I want to make plays that practice cuz it's going to translate come game time so you know having somebody in my corner to motivate me and push me like that at the young age um and it just translated to my everyday life from L leag to Middle School to high school to college and the pros man it was like you know um it it I'm kind of like it I'm blessed to had the you know the family I had to be able to mold me to the way they molded me and and do little things they don't understand that kind of like that made me the type of guy who I am you know my work EIC you know when you know we was just doing it because you know my dad wanted to get me out the lazy stage and get me on track and you know it kind of grew to bigger than what we ever thought it could be what time were you waking up them them wakeups in the morning so it was we would wake up um early in the morning it started or 8:30 to 10:30 to after school to when I got to high school we wake up 4:30 in the morning before school so I work out and then go to school and then do practice after that so um you know that's that dedication bro you know like my dad always say it's it's the body work you putting in man it's it's the work you put in when nobody's watching you know so it paid off it it was a sacrifice I had to make that I chose to make at a young age and and it paid off for me so man look at this kids man your fathers fathers that are present man y'all are very important you can see from you know his Testament is his father was in his life and that's what pushed him to be great man and uh you know a lot of Father a lot of kids that don't have father but to the ones that are doing it man keep doing what you doing keep shining even though people ain't you know showing you no love keep doing what you doing cuz good things go pan out you you ever had a moment like from obviously you had a strict regimen working out with your dad and doing all this stuff you ever had a moment you was like I ain't G to lie D I don't want to do this [ __ ] no more fact all the time def when we first started I'm like I don't want to work out today but for me like working out you start growing up you start seeing a little change in your body from being a little p kid start little muscle you I kind of got addicted to it so it came to a point where my dad had to wake me up to out to the point where I started to wake my dad like Hey Dad come on old man you know so um you know you get to a certain point to the point where um you don't got to be pushed to do it you kind of want to do it yourself and that's when um you know when when you ready to get in that position and you don't need nobody tell you to do you want to do it because that's what you want to do and the things you can accomplish by the body work you put and you know it it's it's endless so Limitless yeah yes yes talk to us about uh coach Boone man we got my man right here he want to be on the show next time talk to us uh about his impact on your career so coach giz was my high school coach um you know at first I was a young kid that was hardheaded at times um my dad gave him the green light to be able to smack me upside my head at times and get me right and he did that you know and um once I started to take coach and listen to he was saying man the success that I started to have in high school from you know being a guy that started getting you know interceptions and T fails and sacks and um [ __ ] saps for touchdowns started to change so um he he was a big a huge part of getting me to where I was obviously being a guy that was considered undersiz being 61 260 in high school a lot of a lot of these college coaches would talk to him be like you think he can get the 300 pound he said hell no you would want that you would want that kid at 300 pounds that's not what he's built to do so um he always motivated me always pushed me um he's the he's the main reason he got me doing a you know in high school swipes and a quick swim something that I carried to my whole career man and um you know he was there every step of the way you know every game he text me tell me what he seen what he thought um so you know when you got mentors and people that you know was there since day one yeah um that been a part of your success um you know to have good people in your corner man I'm just blessed you know yeah n BR I appreciate you correcting me coach Gars man I'm going to put some respect on your name man high we was talking about we was talking about your dad booms earlier at L at big boom at dinner so yeah that's why I got a little confused um but we've had plenty deep conversations just about you know um what's going in your head and things like that and and I kind of want to give the people a little insight on like what was that that switched that flip when you were you were in college you you were having your first daughter and you kind of was like I got start taking it serious can you can you give us that I know he asking that question but I remember I don't know if you remember like the first time I met you and it was me you Morgan Mike we was having this talk about just about you and and what it was and I I told Mike ear I said bro I remember that conversation he said when he was in college and he was having his first child he was like I know this like I got to get my [ __ ] together like so so I I always was a good player you know and you know always my dream was to make it to the National Football League um but when I had my daughter it's like a switch change it was like now I got to somebody I got to provide for I got to make it I got to be able to give my daughter the world you know um so um you know that's when I started to take it a lot serious I started to you know be in the film room early at least two hours before meetings watching film and then ID take a nap on on the chairs put the chairs together take a nap and um go and and have meetings with the team so then I started to work with my my dline coach coach no he started to teach me how to watch film how to break down a offensive line see Tendencies to help me play faster man and once I started to really um become a student of the game and not just use my god-given abilities and really study my opponent study myself and my game started the you know rocket and that's when you know had the my senior year where I you know won a bunch of awards and you know had the opportunity to now be talked about as a first round pick as a you know 61 280 lb defensive tackle so that changed I watch that highlight tape it's 14 minutes of just straight highlights and I I I I know that for a fact because before this draft like I didn't know we were looking for a d tackle you know we everybody was talking about oh yeah this Aaron Dono kid d d you know I'm kind of you know curious I'm like all right let me go see what it's about so I go on YouTube I look up Aaron Donald the first little highlight that comes up like 14 minutes I'm like man who who who put all these extra edits on this man how for it to be 14 minutes it's a det tackle there's no way this highlight about to be fired I watched all 14 minutes it's highlight not one recp it's just clips of highlights over and over and over and over and over again bro so after I watch that 14 minute highlight I say so glad we ain't got a [ __ ] so so glad we ain't looking for no D tackle this year he going to be cold on somebody else team look with the 14 pick St Louis Rams select Aaron Donald my head just went down like damn it's so with y'all baby we got to find a new place this [ __ ] he coming to take my job it's over with I thought it wasn't going to happen until a long time he didn't came he can't take my job but [ __ ] no I would bro watching that [ __ ] was impressive dog and I remember you coming in you know coming into the Rams and you know the coach is talking to me hey we got this guy Aaron Donald this and that you know and I played a year before you so I've learned from the vet before me like okay we play our sides I play left you play right we going to roll like this so I was used to playing left and right right so coach comes up to me just randomly one game after I think after Green Bay game after the preseason game after the Green Bay game he's like Brock um we got to talk man um I know you've been playing the you know the right side of lot you you've been doing a great job but uh we just want to be able to move ad around both Sid I like this confused look like what the [ __ ] you mean so I'mma I'm going be playing where like I'm be playing three technique on the other side nah that's not going to happen you going to be playing nose I was like bro I remember that I remember I remember me like hell no he gota play no tle too he a did [ __ ] to be able to just play three Tech the whole time cuz give me y a little contact nose is a [ __ ] team position it's not glorified you get your ass whoop most of the game and you take on double teams and you let allow everybody else to make plays you know the three Tech get the freedom make the plays man so knowing that I was like n [ __ ] that coach you know but after seeing his greatness man just I think we play Seattle and he he [ __ ] tackled Marshon ly by himself I was like you know what coach knows it's all right with me three technique is cool cuz that [ __ ] is cold man we locked in ever since locked in ever since dog that [ __ ] was crazy uh how I how I found you somebody earlier I was watching Tyler Boyd yeah I used to I start watching Tyler boy I was like damn this [ __ ] is so cold and then they but like every now and then like they start showing the team pit highlights but it would be defense highlights with Tyler Boyd but it was just Aaron Donna highlights I'm like damn bro this little curly head [ __ ] hey this [ __ ] good bro that's crazy bro like how they just switch they didn't even put no other people on defense it was just you and then a little bit of the offense but mainly Tyler boy and you bro that [ __ ] was crazy and then seeing you get drafted to the Rams with Mike bro I was like yeah that [ __ ] crazy that [ __ ] was crazy but I was like bro this the ACC ain't no way this go to translate there's no way he's going to be a jump through these gaps like that this [ __ ] comes in and does the exact same thing I was like ACC for me everything was more Zone read you know you got Big G you know where the ball's going you got the quarterback you got the back on one side if they going to run it they going to run yeah right so it was it for me it was like all I know he going to reach me I'm a back door I'mma split this or I'm a shoot up field and get in the back field quick and I was able to dominate and take overs man so so so look being an undersized d linan right like who was some of the players that you kind of modeled your game after good question so a lot of people that I watched when I was in college was like I'm I'm a Pittsburgh guy so I watched a lot of Pittsburgh Steelers so I watched a lot of like Casey Hampton obviously he's a bigger guy but for nose tackle he was a little shorter um you got um Gino Atkins I watched a lot of him you know Stillers played them twice a year so he used to always dominate one of the strongest power rushers i' ever seen as a three Tech like just throwing offensive lineing all over the place um obviously you got guys like Warren Sap that you know you break down f um you go John Randle I started to break down a lot when I got to the I a't going lie to I was like I hope he say John Rand bro so when I got to the league my dline coach coach w um you know I asked make a cut for me IED to you know stud a lot of defensive Lin that played in the Le that had a lot of success um there was more like my body type like my height like Warren Sap um John Randall them type of guys Lory Glover you know and I was just you know after OTAs or practice I'll just being in there breaking down a film and just studying them like right I just wanted to see obviously the game change every single year they do different things office alignment is different body types are different more athletic now but right um just studying what they did what they had success with and just like you know emulate what the great did to try to be you know trying to you know be one of the next greats right so cuz every generation you know you got you got your greats and I just wanted to be a part of my own story a part of the you know being a part of you know changing the league and making my own type of story and um you know doing that it kind of worked out for me you know going into the lead and you know I remember one day I was in a in a meetting room watching film I remember what coach W came on erased the board he like he told looked at me he said listen I'm going to say a lot I'm going to be coaching a lot of these guys in here but I don't want you to listen to nothing I say he said don't listen to nothing I say I want you to do exactly what you did in college I want to learn from you yeah and I'm a rookie I'm like yes sir I'm like damn he gave me the green light right I a even did I even did that yet you don't know what I can do you don't know if I can really translate what I did to college to this league but he just wanted to see if it was going work so for me to be able to get that confidence right away and get that green light to just go out there and play right man I was like all right I just got I'm going just I'm going to just take the mindset like okay I just dominated in college won every single award that I can win as a defensive player right I I'm I'm that same player ain't nothing going to change about that I'm just going to emulate that okay I did that that year I'm G do it's the same thing the gang football's football the day you know obviously NFL is a bigger stage more cameras but football's football so for me I I I pick my mindset and that stage to make me feel a lot more comfortable to give me that confidence to just go out there and play and you know it it worked you know man what what what kept you going because you see so many guys you know they they play their four years get their bag and just like [ __ ] it you know you you seem to always want to reprove yourself every year what what is it about you that that makes you want to do that it's exactly that reproving myself every single year my mindset was okay you won an award you he a pro bowler you all pro that year [ __ ] you got to do that all over again St from scratch all over again I want I don't want to just be a guy that that did that that year and then you know right so my mindset was always that I can always do more to you know always can do more some way somehow if that's from I'm training a little harder to push myself or just never allow myself to be satisfied with what I did the year before because I you did it that year you got to do it again do do do something more that you didn't do that year okay my rookie year you got nine sacks but I never had a game where I had double digit sacks in one game I was like I got to have two sacks in one game first game of the season my second year Seattle two sacks two sacks now you got to get three I get three I got three sets so it's like you always do things to like push you and motivate you something that get you excited something that like make you work a little harder it's like now you I want to make a name for myself you make a name for yourself all right now I want to be all pro you're all pro right and they talk about me I might be a defensive I could be a defensive player I want to be a defensive you accomplish that damn all right what I want to do now now I just want to win yeah you know I want to experience what it feel like to be a part of a winning team right you get to experience that now I want to [ __ ] I want to win a Super Bowl win a Super Bowl so you you you you you you stacked them then you accomplished all them things man obviously winning a Super Bowl took me eight years to do it but to accomplish that and feel that and be a part of that is like all right you know so it's like it's like mission complete you know you like you playing a video game you trying to beat the game it took a long time to do it but you finally do it it's like yes I finally beat the game know what I'm saying that's what they brought me here to do you know so um my mindset was always I can do more never allow myself to be satisfied so yeah that's awesome question um what do you feel like was like the hardest jump from your rookie year to your sophomore year I think because now cuz now we got film on Aaron Donald he got nine sex's rookie year now we got we got a game plan for this [ __ ] what I could say from college to the pros what was different for me to just the transition was the game was way faster everybody say so you out there it's like it was like boom boom like everything like everything moving so fast so you just got to grasp that and like let the game slow down to you and once it slow down to you it's like it's just it's football right you know then the next year it's like all right I made a name for myself I'm I I know how I trained that year I'm going train even harder this year I'm going do something that I didn't do make myself that much better so and I'm G study a little bit more I'mma study myself now I had I got a whole year Watching myself on film what did I do good all I was good at that all what I what I struggle with I need to work a little better them double teams when you watch the family yourself getting mushed like how did that make you feel I ain't never never say I got mush Ain a lot of this [ __ ] you a movie like [ __ ] I got but for me the worst thing I I hate watching games that I didn't have a lot of you know production in boring games where I felt like I didn't play good I'd be like but you got to study it you know I I rather I I break them fil I break that film down harder than I break the film down to the the games I had you know a bunch of production in a bunch of tfl cuz I can see what I did I know what I did I know what I had to do to make them play but damn all right cuz early in my career the things I struggled with with guys with longer arms that punched I'm like damn like I get out my stand soon they punch me my damn face like come on man you got to back off the you got to do something so studying myself and learning how to defeat a guy like that like back up just don't let him get his hands on you use your swipe right away use your quickness right away to make him like so the point he just can't Jam you at the line so I'm just studying my film studying myself and be like all right I know what I need to I know what I know what M you watch your Sweezy I know watching Sweezy punch face it was this guard namee he ugliest stands in the world and all he did was punch you in your face so hey he'll punch you dead in your [ __ ] face so just learning that man cuz it's easy Once you got a guy that punch straight off the ball that's stiff back out the ball soon as you got a swipe that's a clean win right away so just studying myself and learning that man and then you know what uh what what moments do you think Define your career Bro you've had so many like I mean if you pick your top three moments what do you think like which one top three moments of your career obviously number one is sack sack Joe Barrow winning the championship fourth and one moris calling the defense Donald right there burrow trying to keep it going gets spun out gets it away and incomplete that's obviously that's number one right got to be number one got to be number one yeah that you could have like you know I know I should have did that cuz after everybody start doing I mean you don't a't have to think about it that's crazy man that's what do you know I think that's number one obviously being able to to you know close off you know becoming a world champion and being a person that you make the big plays in the game cuz I remember we played that Super Bowl in 18 19 season I ain't do enough and I always told myself have I ever I remember you watched the interviews that I did after that Super Bowl we lost I was like next time I get we going to we going to be back at another Super Bowl and next time I come back I'm going to do more next time to help us win so the say that and bring it to fruition and see unfold and like ain't nothing like that like ain't nothing like being a world champion being the guy to help right be the guy to make them plays to help you made the play to win the game let's be honest with ain't nothing like it I would I would for sure that's number one um for some reason that that Chiefs game when it it was a shoot out we supposed to play in Mexico we play at the colest game was so fun you get a t we get a defensive touchdown they score we score we sit down I was watching was like oh go bro this is insane that was a good I I would have to put that game in cuz I got two big you know um strict sacks one of them Samson picked them up for a touchdown we got the other one to make it drive down to get a touchdown and the third I don't know you know you know I would be honest Seattle my I was that her second year we played Seattle first game we made that tfl me and you on Maran list to win that game we we celebrated like we just won a Super Bowl oh my God bro I remember getting up [ __ ] we 4 and 16 ass but you know for me like obviously super just certain certain game or certain play that you remember you remember the emotion that you know came about when you made them plays G like things that stuff is special remember [ __ ] you think Mar still looking for him oh yeah I got I got to tell this story so we we was playing we was playing Seattle right and I remember this man was it my rookie or my second it was it was early in my career still in St Louis though for sure St Louis for sure I remember Brock got back in the backfield boom tfl marshan ly I think he said he like good [ __ ] and he did but Brock stepped over him like kind of like kicked on him I remember more got mad I remember he got he got in the hle to the Old Line Hey 90 y'all don't block him I got I'm [ __ ] him up hey he want the blood bro kicking over bro we switched the package like right after that play So I had to run off the field but I I vividly remember Maran scoring a touchdown and turning around real fast looking for me I was like and I was kind of confused on the sideline like what the [ __ ] he doing looking for you but you came on the sine was like Mar looking for you man we got so many good we got so many good memories bro that's that's the best part of being able to like you know play with certain people for so long and have like cuz you got so many funny stories good stories us bro Mor told us about this one uh I don't remember what year it was but I think the dude was a rookie right and he kind of like hit you late and you grabbed his face no listen no that's a [ __ ] we going to talk about these training camp fights bro so this is it was it was 2016 our first year in California we just moved to California we in Orange where we at Orange County or somewhere where Dallas do camp at that's where we was at for like a no that was [ __ ] where that wasn't Orange County I know you talking about irine not Irvine we was somewhere for like two months but that's what Dallas do they camp we there for two months living there doing practice there and it was Jean and Greg Robinson got into a fight a fixed fight they got helmets on and I'm trying to be the pie man let stop and the rookie come over and hit me I said man what the hell is wrong grab them B Dam face mask I don't know how the face mask came off that and I remember smacking them in the top of his hammer like three times like and just threw it and thre that ho bro I just want to let y'all know I just want to let y'all know for the viewers out there bro face masks are connected to helmets they screwed in both sides on the side and two at the top so for a mother and then you think about it every time you hit somebody it's like getting into a car wreck and they face mask still be on the so for a human to grab somebody face mask rip that rip it off bro you got you don't even know how I was in shock when I seen that [ __ ] it was it was everybody clowned the kid because he turned around he had no but he still had his H we was everybody was clowning him for so long seeing somebody with a helmet on in no face BR Hey cuz the coach wanted him to go in offensive line coach like hey go in he like coach I ain't got no face man oh my he was like I ain't got no [ __ ] face man I was like yo this [ __ ] crazy I was in shock literally that whole [ __ ] day I was like there's no way he pulled this man face mask I asked equipment Ki God I was like hey bro y'all screwed that face mask I was question it like d that [ __ ] ain't real I don't know how it happened but it bro cuz you think about it people get face masked all the time bro never seen nobody face mask get ripped that's why I say it's the equipment people they a screw that [ __ ] in ain't no way he bro that [ __ ] popped off like it it wasn't nothing holding that [ __ ] together bro he grabbed that [ __ ] say all screw me like let's not talk about when you got fine [ __ ] he imploded his helmet I a never [ __ ] we playing s friend he got hot we losing we getting our ass kicked Monday Night Football that [ __ ] threw that helmet down we still can't find all the pieces [ __ ] we we still looking for all the pieces to that [ __ ] bro that [ __ ] threw that [ __ ] down that [ __ ] P all that [ __ ] all over I said godam I said how hard you got to slam that [ __ ] bro for the paint to come off the paint to come off that [ __ ] hard you got to throw that helmet down bro [ __ ] that bro this dude right here is [ __ ] strong bro bro talk what about uh another story you went viral too you snatched two people you had two people helmets in your two turned you listen I'm going tell you about that story too because everybody I was The Peacemaker that whole day he always The Peacemaker you know you know when you scream at the te if you beat them the first day come back the team coaches like oh you going to let them whoop yeah so they had them probably gassed up so they you know they already mad they we whooped their ass the day before we we beat him in the Super Bowl the year before that then we got to go practice against them we beat him at practice the first day and the second day the the it was 71 Collins he mad he keep trying to fight flow the whole day trying to punch him and [ __ ] they going at it the whole time I'm breaking fights up uhuh no we good come on yeah yeah yeah he did that at least five times man we took a break I told I walked up to Sean sea M our head coach I said listen Sean I said I've been breaking [ __ ] up all day I've been a peacemaker I ain't stored nothing all day I said but they ain't going to keep thinking they can bully us they do [ __ ] one time I'mma to shut the practice down he said he said Aaron I know we ain't no [ __ ] he said we ain't no [ __ ] I hear you Aon we got you we going to be good though said coach all right coach we good we going to be good we going to be good so it come about the next the next we start to the next next drill we doing like um backed up on a two mut he just turn and throw a punch at on FL they start squaring up I'm like he they so they trying to square up and fight I runs grab Collins by the back of his neck I throws him down um floats up whooping his ass everybody start to a bra you know and I don't know if anybody ever been a part of a a bra in NFL football field right there's a bunch of people all kind of [ __ ] next to you I can promise I can tell you this it was a blackout moment I don't remember what happened after that I just remember coming out with two helmets and rolling back and looking thinking somebody about to attack me bro that thaten after bro they made so many viral memes they had a picture of you with a superhero cape on and two and two it was like uh I can't think of what movie it was oh the 300 you by yourself everybody else they turned you bro they they tried to you know the funny thing is man we we had Buffalo that first game of the season and buffalo was trying to turn stuff in to get me suspended about a damn football fight I'm like I I was the p no they trying to turn stuff in from the training cap from to to the NFL to say man he need to get suspended play the first game [ __ ] that's the only that's the only way to get that [ __ ] they a whooping her ass the first game anyway I'm like God damn they try to get me suspended though oh yeah I remember the C was telling me I'm like God damn they trying to get me for a damn off the off the field fight yeah right practice fight hey I get I get what you saying that you The Peacemaker bro one more vir moment bro another one they we we see you practice choking somebody bro you it's a video you you you y'all let practice and you got your somebody thr somebody drill that was the drill did and it was a rookie so you know I usually go with a rookie i' be a little extra with it but that was a drill we did every single day man and I was sometimes I've been I was a little hard on the rookies they got to pay their dudes and I was I don't ask him to do much but you know sometimes you know it's a little extra that bro was like damn ad don't know his own strength bro especially you rip somebody face mask uh talk to us about I mean I know you kind of briefly talked about the St Louis room man if you could describe our St Louis room in in just a couple of brief you know statements where would you where would you give you know I always tell people this bro he like for me I'm I'm tell you the dead honest truth bro it was a blessing an honor to really come into as a rookie to come to the D line I had with the coach I had with the players I had from Michael Brockers to Chris long to ker out Chris Long come on um Robert Quinn qu um will Hayes eug man I I prom we we still got a group to this day we all talk man I prom I love them guys to death cuz like you know they sometimes they little brothered me but for the most part you know that like was no more that [ __ ] but it was always like love and motivation bro they always seen like right away they like bro you going to be special like I remember we in we in a sa he's tell me like bro you got it you know just keep doing you bro like you going to be special and at the time you still a young guy you don't really you know you but but you know to understand like the group I had bro to into the room I had man like I truly can say and I truly believe having a group I had with the dline coach I had and Coach W and my first couple years in this league man was was one of the huge parts of get making me the player who I was as a professional um and having the success I had to had the confidence I had right away in the league man so um you know my brother I'mma look at this camera and all y'all know that I love y'all yes sir my dog I love him to death this this is way deeper and Way Beyond football so um you know I can't I can't you know be blessed enough to you know talk about y'all so bro bro talk about uh we had we had a couple of coaches you talk about W briefly but we also had another coach towards the end our career coach Henny man because you kind of give like that comparison between those two those were two two greatest coaches I've had me too so you know two different coaches obviously but you know hen was a young hungry coach his first time getting a head D line coach um he was working the hell out of us I can tell you that hey bro we talked about that all the time but you know coach Henny you know he's another guy that you know he was my coach but you know we got a A brotherhood and a relationship that we still got Beyond football that we talk all the time we hang outside of you know outside of you know the the locker room and all that so um you know the things that he was able to teach me you know later in my career that you know get me you know reboot and restarted to get going again you know from learning different techniques that was different learning a different def from going from a 43 to a 34 and understand how I got to play when I can take my chances when not to take my chances and things like that bro and learning different techniques to help me as far as being more Stout in the Run being more Stout in these double teams you know going to a foure ey and understanding how to play a 4 Hour more solid so I don't get wased down so they so you know he he taught me a lot bro and um you know um you know I I had a lot of great coaches in my career but um those two it's something about him too man the fundamentals from W and then like the hunger that he never allowed me to be like I I can he never allowed me to be satisfied even though I wasn't satisfied but he always like I always told him like man coach me like if I [ __ ] like if I mess up coach you get on my ass like let everybody know that I'm messed up in the meeting room don't trying to no favoritism here like dog I I'mma coach you anyway you know what I'm saying so you know that that's my dog for Life man he already know that you know you know I just talked to heny I think yesterday we was just talking you know me and W just talked last week you know you get on the phone with you hours bro you going be on that we talk about all the techniques relationships that I get and I build man is is like it's lifetime it's so beyond football with me so I just met coach heny uh I can like seeing like just meeting him easy to relate to too yes yes and he like a good ass players coach and I feel like that's super important with when it comes to develop of of certain type of players cuz you you don't want to play for that coach you always uptight and and you like God damn coach come on bro lighting up some you I ain't going lie coach Henny had them moments you got be like Henny come on you relax a little bit be a little ju up but you know what I'm saying he he's one of Love though that's what we knew love hell of a coach bro and like I can truly say he made me a better football player you know have an opportunity you know to learn from him get coached by him and even when it came down to breaking down film I'm in every single week I'm in there with him like [ __ ] what can we do this week to get off a double or triple team come man come on help me out coach we was I was non-stop always meeting with coach before like getting a game plan if I'm watching film you know on a Monday you know I'm like hey what's the game plan this he the game plan what you think what you watch film when these guys yeah what what you want what you want this week what you think gonna work for you like we always be able to have that feedback with each other man so um you know I got the opportunity to work with some great coaches man you ever you ever felt like um I don't know if you like be seeing photos of yourself online where they have you getting blocked by two people sometime three people sometime four people like you ever look at that and be like damn bro like I'm that [ __ ] good like I felt the [ __ ] I was like you beat one guy you beat two guys then the center run over or the back come up man get your nose ass it it's frustrating bro I promise to God it was just my life out definitely I'm going tell you like OB this my career you got like late like I start getting a lot of attention but I I want a Super Bowl like them last two years I play bro yeah it it was ridiculous it was like it wasn't even two guys it was three to four people trying to so many photos you online I'm like it it was frustrating bro cuz I'm like we all get paid a lot of money to play this game man you don't have to double and triple team somebody every sing Team [ __ ] was games that I played bro that I probably got one or two one on ones the whole game like the whole game plan was just not allowing me to [ __ ] up even if it was come to a run play that run a whole opposite way or run away from it it's like it was frustrating n you got to think about this bro it was we going back to another viral moment Sean McVey was like Aaron's going to make a play yeah he was like come on 99 come on now I need you to make a play come on like can you talk like what what was you what was your brain your mind at at that moment when you was like just talking to yourself he was like bro come on and then the same play you get off the ball and you make the game wining sa and then there go your viral moment so when we go when we back out there I remember coach Sean looking at me like come on here we this is this is the win at all you know we we just scored a couple seconds left in the game it's on it's on the defense now this is like that's the type of moments you live for right as a as a football player that like you know the righteous story to be a part of history or whatever you want to say you know I remember you know they start they doing some they driving down the field they close to like the middle of the field third and one they run the ball man and grade yeah yeah yeah stop it he's short fourth and one I'm like they going to run the ball it's Fourth for one right the the back is child too wide I'm like oh it's a they going to pass the ball I wh out a little bit I know I'm going to get the slide regardless right I said I'm going to throw this chop Club see what I get my favorite move I remember I remember I remember I remember hitting the chop Club pushing off that tackle to Bim and you were like ain't no way the center couldn't get to me fast enough and I remember like ain't I remember grabbing him ain't no damn way I just did this the week before in the NFC Championship friends I'm like I remember grabbing them throwing them to the ground and he threw the ball like oh my please don't catch it please I remember and I just remember like pick my arms like I can't believe and I remember looking at they Sal just running with my arms out taking my hammer off like ring me me this is what I work my whole life for bro this is what I trained for this is what I dreamed about man I remember nights before the Super Bowl like damn like what would I do if I the Super Bowl what my emotions be like but you never picture that you being a guy to make them key plays to win it you know what I'm saying so it's hard to put it into words bro like it is that [ __ ] was crazy cuz you dreamed about that moment right you dream stuff like that but it's like when a lot of people don't get to live out it like that bro you know to be honest bro I don't think we've ever seen I've never seen a game-winning play made by a defensive tackle bro a lot of in the Super Bowl a lot of key plays in that game that make that happen like you know what I'm saying like and let's not just act like you're the greatest dle like they have to stop you in my in my generation like I say this humbly obviously you know there's so many great you got your Warren STS you got your John randles you got your um Ray lewises your you got a lot of great players that was great at their time but you got generation got their own great I think in the time that I played the 10 years that I played on my I think I I say this humbly I can truly say that I feel like I was probably the greatest defensive lineman defensive player in my time consistently it's all about there a lot of guys that can be great in a year or two right but to do it consistently year in and year out years straight nonstop come on man come on different we talking about that though can you drop your top five D tackles that's hard all right um top five order no order no order just your top five so you got John Randle you got Warren Sap you got I'mma put I'm G put um I'mma put myself in there yes don't feel bad [ __ ] this um can I put a nose tackle in there D tacle [ __ ] he play on the D L see for me I'm a Pittsburgh guy so I watched a lot ofe he was like big as hell but he was so quick and agile for his size and made plays so I got to I just for on the respect of just watching him play I got to put him in there and um you you know a lot of people might talk I gotta put ly Glover and I say ly Glover because ly Glover worked with us I remember he used to he I think he had a year he had um he he had 17 SE in one season and I remember I used to always be like he's like you nice but I said I can't never talk [ __ ] to you cuz I ain't never had 17 sack so I remember the first year I got 20 and a half sacks I texting like I can talk [ __ ] to you now come on so I was I put I put Lory Glover in there because I was always chasing him because you know he had 17 sacks and I was always trying to surpass his 17 sacks so that's fire bro and we and we been around LG and glove you know LG and lot of them players so to see them and know like hey bro I'm amongst greatness dog that [ __ ] crazy bro um let's talk about you know being a pro man me and you both played you know uh uh double digit years in the league what do you think it is the greatest attribute to being a being a pro is it being on time is it working out all the time I think it's all that man you can't just pinpoint one thing man like you know obviously you know you you got to put the body at work in to become the player you want to pee you know cuz you know you get you get to the lead you see a lot of guys that just there going through the motions or playing for a check you know but I feel like when you put the body at working you know to get get yourself to a point to get to be who you want to be to be the player you want to be to accomplish what you want to get and get all the you know the person that come up being a top guy you got to put the body at working you know and I'm always a guy that's always early you know if you know I was always in meetings early you know I was on the football field early before everybody else body I'm sitting out there waiting so I tried to beat you one time I couldn't do it like it's a lot it's a lot of things man that BEC coming a pro bro it's like you know becoming a pro that's that's that's a strong word to use that's that's work um that's leadership you know that's being on time and and being on time ain't coming if it's 8:00 being there 8:00 it's being there at 8:30 talk about you know being a pro is different than just being an NFL football player you know it's a lot of things a lot of sacrifices and commitments you need to make to be that guy so I tell young guys all the time man like hard work pays off that's my slow I live with all the time so um you know it's a lot man so just continue to just work um never allow yourself to be satisfied no matter what you accomplish no matter no matter what you get cuz you can have a couple great years and you can get a big payday and you can be satisfied don't allow yourself to be satisfied because see you you do what you need to do after you get paid you get another big pay down um you know you got to put the body working and be willing to put the sacrifices in you know to you know be able to not just put yourself in great situations but you know change your family's life right so that's what it's about building generational wealth that Kurt cousin's money he said that c cousin but shout out Kurt cousin's agent bro I don't know I don't Hey listen hey that [ __ ] doing his thing I don't give a [ __ ] nobody say about that man bro Two Chains Kirk or whatever y'all was calling him Bro [ __ ] that bro that man agent is the real y'all mad at Kurt Cousins for the people paying him no bro his agent is the one smooth top come on man come on man got 180 coming off of Achilles injury bro like if that's not his agent doing his job bro I don't know what is just hoping that he he do what he need to do for my dog Rod out there as the head coach now I want to see you know see him his team have a lot of success bro and you know him do everything he he he talked about being at this point so to see him you know back as head coach and me knowing him personally how he is as a person how is is a coach man I just want to see him succeed so C do thing no I'm G tell you right now regular season kurk gonna get y'all to the playoffs if he come back healthty but it's just after that we we can't say that this year is a new year so we can't we can't talk about the P talk about now yeah you right but we can't speak until we see it facts what uh do you got any teams this year I know you retired first time being retired you got any teams this year you looking at or you got a f cuz I'm I'm a I'm a bandwagon fan I got Rams lions and that's it I ain't going to lie I'm I'm excited to watch the Rams play bro yeah I think obviously they got a lot of big pieces coming back but they got a lot of young good defensive line talent that I'm excited to see like I'm ready I want to go to OTAs and see what these guys I want go to Camp I want to watch them cuz for me it's different now because like you get them them them guys that coming I'm not there to see them in OTS I'm not there to see them in Camp really be like so to be able to you know be the guy watching from outside in now it's different but I'm excited to see what they do man I think they got some great coaches obviously Shan mcve is a master of what he's doing he's back at a good place mentally as far as a coach like after last year me just talking to him personally he's excited about football again so um I know where his Minds sets up obviously you got Matthew Stafford Cooper cup um puka come on now got some weap you got you got you know a lot of young guys that's hungry Kobe so I'm just excited to watch what they do this year man and um you know I think they they can be you know one of them teams they be recking with and um hopefully they they can make that run yes sir what uh I want to shift a little bit because we know you're a great player we know we know that we've seen that but a lot of people don't see you as you know regular human being as a dad as a father like I get to see you and I can see like you put not like you put more effort but you at love being a dad you love being a dad a lot of guys they get home like me like godamn T goddamn kids ad want to go home to his kids he wanted to about all the time like even at work I'm like I miss my babies you know what say miss his babies man you know I just you know my kids would motivate me always motivate me you know you know I can be you know they would make me want to continue to do great things you know cuz obviously you you do you do things you get yourself at a certain point but they allow they having somebody to preva for and and have like knowing what I want to do for my kids and leave for my kids I always want to do more and accomplish more and bring more to the table for them so um you know that they had my you know my daughter Jada 11 years old my 8-year-old son AJ um my two and a halfy old Eric doublea we call him um and my nemon old you know um Alie we call him baby tank oh yeah all athletes all I'm I'm a happy Dad bro and I I love being a father I love seeing my kids grow obviously my kids get on my damn nerves sometimes too but I'd rather them get on my nerves than not have them around at all we talked about all the time there was times where my kids when I before I had my other two my two was in Pittsburgh I'm in California I'm like I miss my babies I miss my kids getting on my damn nerves so you know I enjoy them L getting on my nerves I enjoy my kids being with me I rather them be with me and get on my nerves than not have around at all so amen amen so tell me have you Le learned anything about yourself as a dad like talked about it this week man mama you know out of out of the commission right now you've been home with the kids you know all week and doing camps and handling business like what have you learned about yourself as a dad bro sit back and relax and breathe a little bit I you know obviously with a lot going on obviously got a lot running around and you got four kids you know why your wife is can't be there right now cuz she certain things is going on and you know she she got little surgeries going on to get healthy again so um you know know it it it's tough you know you realize how much your wife is that I knew from a from a point from a bit like she do a lot already but right you know you it's it's different when she's gone out the picture and you got to you know handle it all by yourself it's like God and for ho my head like always forhead you trying to you get frustrated got to keep yourself calm I bre a little bit you know get in bed my 2-year-old get out of bed 20 times lay your ass down you know what I'm saying and I can't tell wife you to do it I got to do it so now you got to do it yes sir just keep my just patience bro just being patient I love it man I love it cuz people get to see a different side of you man you're not just no killer that everybody claim you are on the on the field you are humble man it's a it's a switch that flips when you get off the field and I can see you in that different light um let's talk about the the the the drop hip tackle man that's kind of been a question for all my football guys what do you think about that man you talking about them taking it out man I don't obviously the game is changing I feel like the NFL's respectfully getting watered down like hell from how they doing a kickoffs now to they they taking so much from a defensive player to play this game at a at a high level like how we supposed to tackle somebody can't we can't even no don't no we can't even we can't even sa the quarterback I get that but the you can't you can't ad hold on hold on hold on so you grab we going let we going let a [ __ ] just drag you I get what you saying about that how many times you never Dro hip tackle somebody I did before probably once right man what you think a [ __ ] going to do they got I get what you're saying Henry [ __ ] 250 66 what you going to do just let him drag you to the touchdown have you ever dropped him tackle Derrick Henry no you have it you don't drop tackle people you don't I slam people I know because but everybody not me listen I get the ad I get the ad but you good at tackling right I told him the same thing the [ __ ] that do the drop pip tackle are the [ __ ] don't know how to tackle it's different why they do it people that say that that don't understand that that tackle yeah they don't understand that you got a DB come full speed to tackle a mother that's tight tight end like what you going to just let them run you over stiff from you or just get you drug to the we got to find you they got to find a way to take you got to understand you you when we when we sign up when we sign up for football we know what we signing up for it's going to come with aches and pains and injuries it's just a part of the game you can't keep allowing to trying to water down the game for offensive player to take everything away from a defensive player to play what they need to do to be successful to help win games but do you not agree that it it is a dangerous tackle though manuck Cho chopping your ass a danger DN I what you say listen you know what they offensive [ __ ] player that's all that is do they took out something for y'all and we talk they took everything out for def damn they took away we can't Blindside y'all no more and you want to know what's so funny is we can't hit [ __ ] come across the middle right right right right we got to wait till you catch the ball to hit you come on man you got to catch and do a football move and then you get hit I you say yard by the time you do that the NFL is a lot of the [ __ ] that they say is it's kind of like f you like godamn bro what can I do now what what they should have did what they should have did bro was took out when a [ __ ] receiver catch the B be successful to help win games but do you not agree that it it is a dangerous tackle though man choing choing your ass it's a danger D thing I what you said but listen you know what they offensive [ __ ] player that's all that is do they took out for something for y'all and we talk took everything up for def damn they took away we can't Blindside y'all no more and you want to know what's so funny is and we can't hit a [ __ ] that come across the middle right right right right we got to wait till you catch the ball to hit you come on man you got to catch and do a football move and then you get hit I yard by the time you do that the NFL is a lot of the [ __ ] that they say is it's kind of like f you like God damn bro what can I do now what they should have did what they should have did bro was took out when a [ __ ] receiver catch the ball you hitting somebody below the knees when they catch the ball that's horrible that's what they they need to take that off for sure cuz I seen that in that in our playoff game against Detroit they did that [ __ ] to head be and I seen him get hurt and have to do surgery for that [ __ ] horrible that that if they want to protect protect him from doing some [ __ ] like that you talking about a drop tackle you grabbing and dropping your weight to take a [ __ ] down take you want to take that sitting there smash somebody that's the one they should [ __ ] they should never uh switch the game where we can't blast them [ __ ] them [ __ ] up up top you know what I'm saying obviously the game continue to change but I just feel like it's getting a little too watered down so I feel like I left at the right time no facts facts facts if you were to hey we G to end it right here if you were to uh Inspire somebody to play in the league now what would you tell them and how would you inspire I would just say Don't just just play the game how you play the game play fast as long as you play the game to not trying to you know do no extra stuff you ain't like we we don't play the game to trying to hurt don't don't be a guy like that but if you just playing fast you trying to do what you need to do to be successful man just play don't think about falling on top of the quarterback just play your game play fast and naturally all that thing everything will take care of itself so I got to I I was going to ask look Mike I want to kind of continue on the his life outside of football yeah talk to me right because now you obviously you you in Daddy Mode way more now but what about Aaron Donald like outside of football like you got the businesses you got the you got your own ready water water we talk to you know we we listen y'all GNA see more of this on our podcast so you know talk to tell the people like what is Aaron D have going on outside of football um obviously you know I retired from football but not from life right um I got my development company company ddg Donald Development Group with me my wife and my brother um you know building affordable homes our first project is in the Pittsburgh area in the Wilkinsburg area um building 38 units um affordable homes Community Center all down there so just doing my part to you know not just help the community build it up the right way but continue to leave a legacy behind for my kids you know right um obviously got my ready brand is is doing great you know we got our protein Waters we got our sports drink we got our um ready lights we got our um our our clean bar you know we got our kid bars come on man you know we we in you know we we in Dollar Tree we're in um Costco we in your um local grocery store so um we're in a couple schools so um you know to see the growth of the um already from when I first started to be a part of it to where we at now man crazy it's a blessing you know for my my partner Pat to be help me a part of this man and continue to help this to grow but obviously been having a lot of um different meetings outside of this and different lot of things that's going to be coming to Fring real soon that we can't obviously share yet but but um just working man I'm I'm truly staying busy man doing a lot of meetings yeah um obviously learning a lot from my partner Pat you know as far as business talking with him a lot um he G me knowledge a lot things that I need to do when I'm in these meetings the right questions to ask what I should ask what I should be looking for these guys that ask me so um I'm just staying busy and working man so so how how did this come about like was it something they approached you with yes so it started for me it start it started as a um endorsement and I want to say 2017 at the time the sports drink wasn't even made yet it was just um I think it was the bars and the um and a protein the protein water I remember seeing and I remember the first time I met Pat my my my my partner Pat Kavanaugh um he came to La he wanted to meet me in person before we s s the ink and make sure that I actually like the product so you know he wanted to talk to me about the product he sent they sent me a lot of product to change um try and I was I was drinking a lot of the protein water working out you know I loved it personally um he he wanted to see me talk to me face to face eye to eye we talked and I was like I truly like the product I believe that this is something and it it became started as endorsement and I think around um I don't want to I I want to say 2019 2020 I it was an opportunity to come to invest and you know have ownership into the company and um I jumped on that right away um because you know again it's a product that I I consume that I use myself that I I truly love and that's when you know the the sports drink came about um the the ready lights came about and um the protein I'm a protein poed guy I use the bars so I'm not just the owner of of this brand I'm actually a consumer so um for me to be a part of this and had the opportunity to have ownership into this company it it was it was a no-brainer for me bro cuz I believe in it I believe in the brand I believe in um you know the vision that my partner had Pat um you know we we talk all the time and and and his mindset towards the business the same mindset I had towards football you know so we relating we relate so much we so similar in so many way we talk all the time and I'm like that's the same thing I was thinking the way I am and it's crazy man um it's easy to to say you want to be a part of something just for you know for a check but it's different where when you want to be a part of something because you believe in it because you think it can be great so um you know like I tell him all the time I appreciate you for allowing me to be a part of your baby cuz he created this you know he he lost it all and and and and and and put everything into this brand and for him to um you know Know believe in me and and allow me to be a part of this to continue to help this
