Fantasy Football Week 1 Defensive Streamers: Best D/ST Options for 2024 | Expert Strategy

what's going on this Theo grer from player profiler and we're talking about some defensive streamers in fantasy football defenses often get pushed to the side but this can be an edge that you need to win on a weekly basis the information age of fantasy football has made even like your league mates who are not so sharp have access to great information so we want to find as many edges as we can that we can exploit to help us win weekly matchups this is a weekly game in fantasy football and a difference between a great defense and a bad defensive performance could be 10 12 points think about how many times you played fantasy where you've lost a close one by less than 10 points let's look to turn that thing around last offseason I started dropping these defensive streamer videos especially during the fantasy playoffs and we hit on a number of them that people win so we're looking to get you off to a quick start in week one week one we want to get that W you want to be able to flex on your league mates and let's do it with some defensive streamers now every defense I talk about in these videos are going to be available in 60% of Yahoo leagues these are not uh you know highly rostered uh defenses like for instance you can probably turn this video off right now if you drafted the Jets if you drafted the 49ers if you draft drafted the Cowboys like those are pretty much set it and forget it defenses Baltimore Ravens are an interesting one because they has set it and forget a defense quite possibly the best defense in fantasy but it's up to your discretion whether you want to roll up against Patrick Mahomes in week one so you might want to stream somebody else it's it's your it's your discretion though some of these defenses I'm going to talk about might not be available in your league so for the teams that didn't draft a set it and forget it defense then screaming defenses on a weekly basis is no different than putting in the correct player in the flex you're looking to attack weak offenses you're looking to identify potential mismatches you're looking to get that edge over your OPP opponents and streaming defenses is a viable strategy to to do all of that and basically this is the kind of edge where if you put a little bit more work and you also take a look at being a week ahead then you're going to have an advantage over the rest of your league who are maybe just kind of letting it go when it comes to defense and when we talk about a weak ahead especially if you're in a deeper format if you can look at next week's defenses then you're going to save yourself a couple of Fab dollars every single week rostering two defenses is not necessarily a high high level strategy but once in a while there's going to be a defense a week ahead that has some matchup that's just so good that it might give you like a 10 14 point week we'll consider that this year depending on how deep your benches are I also write an article that's dropping on playerprofiler.com listing your defensive options for week one check that out let's start at the very top this defense is available in 47% of Yahoo leagues and it's the Cincinnati Bengals easy layup we don't even need to talk about it one of the easiest streamers on the board they are a massive massive favorite in this game their opponent the New England Patriots have a team total of only 16 points and implied team total of only 16 points is abysmal about as bad as it gets for a non bad weather game so this is if they're sitting there on your on your waiver wire just scoop them up the Patriots also have one of the worst offensive lines in the league and some of the least intimidating offensive Personnel of any team in the league you're going to see a lot of Stevenson in this game you're going to see a lot of Antonio Gibson possibly in this game as New England looks to use their running backs as much as possible but at the end of the day this is an offense and a quarterback transition they might not be as turnover prone as possible but because I think they were going to look to protect jacobe brassett and use the running backs a lot but at the end of the day that offensive line is so bad that there's potential for turnovers and the Bengals defense features Trey Hendrickson which is a weapon of mass destruction on the defensive line the guy had 17 and a half sacks look for him to get started in a big way this week grab the Bangles defense another defense that has long-term potential and this is a defense that you could consider using for multiple weeks of the season is the Chicago Bears and if you watched my videos last year we used the Chicago Bears towards the end of the year and we got some really big results there was like three out of four weeks where they put up double digit points they had 17-point week a 14-point week this defense really took a big step forward after a mid-season acquisition of montz sweat so like the market hasn't really moved on Chicago's defense kind of being nasty and this defense was again red hot to end the year they led the NFL in interceptions last year and they were fifth in in force turnovers now they're playing Tennessee Tennessee is going to be a little bit better but Tennessee is also a team that we can exploit until we see the Callahan off offense take off and until we see will Levis put a number of decent performances in a row he's going to be a quarterback that we're going to consider going up against whenever possible especially with that Chicago home crowd let's talk about another defense this one unlike Chicago and Cincinnati those those are defenses where people are on them this is a defense that's under the radar and they're available in 77% of Yahoo leagues and that's the Seattle Seahawks Seattle is in a great spot spot against the Denver Broncos offense that's breaking in a new quarterback in BO Knicks now I like Bo Knicks I put him in my waiver wire uh article as a guy who could surprise but you're talking about a road game in Seattle to open up his NFL career this is a tough one Denver has one of the lowest team totals on the board not as bad as New England but they're only projected to score 18 points again a really really low one and here's an added bonus if you grab Seattle Seattle plays New England in week two so you can use the Seattle Seahawks for two straight weeks a really really fun one let's go back to a defense that's pretty much a 50% owned uh actually they're rostered in 48% of Yahoo leagues and we're talking about the New Orleans Saints so again Dave Canales that's my guy Dave Canales is the quarterback whisper Dave Canales is the ADP Whisperer Dave Canalis is going to turn things around in Carolina but is he going to turn things in car right away in New Orleans I don't know about that Bryce young was terrible in 2023 just terrible all of his stats were really low they add Deontay Johnson they add Xavier Legette so they've added some weapons they've added some offensive line help but this is still a offense in transition they don't have Jonathan Brooks they're not at full strength and now he faces a buzs saww on the road in New Orleans lot of pressure on New Orleans to win this game Dennis Allen is a is a coach that is going to be on the hot seat if he can't get it going Carolina again has an implied team total of only 18 and a half points the Saints finished fourth among all NFL defenses last year in forced turnovers they forced 29 of them you also have the added bonus that this is a divisional match up and again it's at home indoors in New Orleans they might be teeing up on Bryce young we'll see how this one goes but New Orleans is also a defense that you can consider using in future weeks there's Talent on that defense and they seem to turn things up a notch when they're at home let's talk about a defense that's going to be available in all of your leagues they're only uh rostered in 9% of Yahoo league so 91% available and that's the Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Falcons have had some Personnel changes on defense but they still have Grady Jarrett they still have Jeremy Bates they still have some like elite players on the defensive side of the ball but the thing that I love about this game is it's the Arthur Smith Revenge game narrative so you have the Raheem Morris era starting with new defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake they've installed a 34 defense so it's a 34 defense different than they've been running in the past and you you just can't lose this game if if you're Raheem Morris this is the Falcons at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers chance to really get off to a fast start Pittsburgh is a strong side they have a good defense they're going to be an improved te team better offensive line than they had last year Russell Wilson is an upgrade over anything they had last year behind Center but when it comes down to it you have to get this win if you're Atlanta the the former head coach can't come in as the offensive coordinator and get this one done there's going to be a ton of motivation Atlanta I think te's off on Pittsburgh I think Atlanta gets that early win and again they're able to be used pretty much everywhere if you don't love your defensive matchup for this week let's go down to Minnesota Minnesota's available in about half of Yahoo leagues they're available in 49% of Yahoo leagues at the time I'm recording this the New York Giants conceded the most sacks in football last year 85 sacks they let up that is the second most of all time in NFL history now the Giants offensive line looks different they signed free agents they added interior linemen they of course have the same outside offensive tackles as last year but this is a better offensive line the beat reporters for New York think it's better the coaching staff thinks it's better it was obviously a unit that they had to improve but at the end of the day it's still a developing unit a new unit and Minnesota's defense has been nasty under Brian Flores last year they took a huge step forward and now it's Brian Flores in year two Danielle Hunter continues to be one of the best defenders in the league and this year he's been joined by Dallas Turner from Alabama another player who can really get to the quarterback and Dallas Turner is being talked about as a guy who could be Defensive Rookie of the Year so we love Minnesota in that game Daniel Jones can be exploited even though he's at home New York breaking in a ton of new Personnel my guy Malik neighbors you have Devin single ter they're going to be using a new tight end potentially in Theo Johnson there's a lot of personnel changes in New York this is a game that we can exploit and if you want to go up against Sam darnold instead the New York Giants defense is available in 97% of Yahoo formats and we need to dive into this one because if you're watching a defensive streamers video you know that just simply attacking mediocre quarterbacks on the road is a Lifeline for us as defensive streamers we take the chance that Sam darnold is not going to go you know nucular in his first game against on the road especially in New York and New York is really looking to get off to a fast start this year Brian da again has the heat on him and needs to win this one at home so New York is sort of your desperation ad again available everywhere much like Atlanta and then we'll talking about the LA Chargers La Chargers last time they played the Las Vegas Raiders they absolutely got destroyed this is the opening game of the Jim Harbaugh ERA this is a low total game La Chargers available in 95% of Yahoo formats now we talk about the stashing defenses and talking about defenses that are available that we can stash for next week now this is not something we want to do all the time this this is not a rule I'd much rather see you stash a speculative running back a lottery ticket type running back I'd rather see you stash a maybe a wide receiver who's about to pop but at the end of the day if you have that roster spot especially in competitive formats and even some of you nffc and ffpc managers a lot of times these managers just as a rule will never roster two defenses a lot of times you can grab your next week's defense like for super cheap on the way wire so we're going to look at doing that and two defenses I really like for next week are Seattle again again available in 77% of Yahoo formats they are on the road but again they're playing that New England Patriots defense are New England Patriots team does New England make the switch to Drake May uh we don't know but any way you cut it this is going to be a offense that we are going to look to exploit whenever we need to and another offense we're going to continue to look to exploit Carolina Panthers that La Chargers defense that's available literally everywhere gets to play at Carolina next week now at Carolina is not as easy as Carolina uh on the road but it's still a matchup where we are going to look to exploit it until we see Dave Canales turn things around we're g to attack Carolina I'm Theo greminger hope you enjoyed
