What DaRon Bland's stress fracture means for the Dallas Cowboys | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

donon Bland Cowboys cornerback led the NFL last year with nine interceptions returned five of them for touchdowns that was an NFL record he is out six to eight weeks with a stress fracture in his foot now look they're getting back Trayvon digs stefon's brother I knew it was Diggs but I couldn't remember Trayvon that's what happens out of sight out of mind Terry ACL you're gone and then you're reintroduced to the league but at least he'll be back but donon bland is going to be gone six to eight weeks and uh anybody gets to play the Cowboys early you've you've got an interception machine that's not going to be available the first the way it it's playing out here four to six weeks of the Season yeah it just you know adds more problems to a team that we look at that goes hey they got a few problems right is the team the same as last year no not exactly we got the CD lamb contract thing just like Jamar Chase in Cincinnati that we're not sure about and what what adds even more pressure to that is like there there's no there's no T Higgins it's just like CD lamb is the guy I know they got Brandon Cooks but I don't think he's in t Higgins class as another Target for the quarterback where it's tough is hey Don bland is the real deal he's awesome one of the strengths of the Dallas team is the duo they have at corner right I think where it's really hurts them too is the biggest issue with Dallas and the thing we question and we're seeing them try to adjust to this here recently is big people in the middle of their defense and when you have two really good corners on the outside it allows you hey we'll play man and we'll load the Box and you know we'll help our smaller D tackles or not as good D tackles out a little bit oh and you don't have a Don Bland in there now you're not going to be as bold of your Mike Zimmer to go oh I wanted to play man here and load the box and not let you know uh the the Browns run the ball up the middle but I don't feel confident with my matchup outside here now with this corner against Amari Cooper so that's where it it changes them a little bit let alone hey he's a playmaker there's no doubt about that and when you look at their schedule yeah the buy is week seven Y and they emerge from the buy at the 49ers I almost feel like they should just shut him down until after the buy I would think well the the the the other aspect of this I'm glad you brought me there is six to eight weeks this is a corner this is a foot injury so even if he's back in let's say seven weeks he won't be back to normal till another four or five weeks after that it's not like he's going to be like oh hey I'm ready to play I'm ready to jam my foot in the ground and run run 43 and I'm just right back I'm I'm I never missed a beat that that's not going to happen it's going to take him a little bit with this type of injury at that position it's going to take a little bit for him to get going on all cylinders again so that's where it stinks for Dallas and donon Blen hi it's Mike Florio thanks for watching PFT on YouTube hit subscribe for the latest news and Analysis from pro football talk
