now today is an anniversary but not a happy one August 29th 2005 that's the day when Hurricane Katrina made landfall right off the coast of New Orleans Louisiana and today is the 19th anniversary of that date now Katrina made landfall as a cat 3 and this monster storm was responsible for over 1,800 lives lost that day and still to this day is the costliest storm we've ever had accumulating up to $125 billion doll in Damages mostly from flooding which was also the greatest cause of loss of life infrastructure and levies that were not made to withstand this level of storm broke and left areas flooded for weeks at its greatest Hurricane Katrina had 20 foot stall tall storm surge but certain areas saw 12ft tall storm surge for over 48 hours straight at its strongest Katrina was a cat 5 175 mph monster at landfall it was a cat 3 of 12 25 mph so today I hope you find some time to think of and pray for all those who were impacted in studio with coverage you can count on morning meteorologist graceon nello way31 news
