NRL 2024 | Wests Tigers v Eels: Round 27 | Match Preview

[Music] the West tigers and the Paramount eels face off in a game that will decide who gets the dreaded wooden spoon on Friday I'm Darcy McDonald joined by former NRL Winger Josh mansau and Josh who would have thought that the final game of the year between two teams well out of contention would hold so much interest it's a sellout you know what I'm not surprised because you know the Campell Town faithful always turn up for the West tigers um they're staunch loyal for their club and you know it was a bit disappointing last week coming out um with the report of the two factions of the mag pi and Bal man going head to-head and hopefully they put that to bed now I think can focus on this game because it's um it's obviously a lot on the line Pride for the biggest thing so um yeah it's going to be a good occasion for both teams well param are leaning into the game a big performance to beat the dragons last week which knocked them out of the finals contention that puts them in good form to win this one and avoid The Wooden Spoon which they last received in 2018 yeah another team that I thought were very underwhelming this year parata um disappointed obviously having to compete in the spoon ball this week but you know I was very impressed with their last two games you know they racked up the points very early in the games against the Broncos Unfortunately they got ran down in the end and against the dragons obviously putting 44 points on them could have been in the 50s if they got the conversions but the biggest concern for me is can there there's a trend here can they get run down by the Tigers as well so if the Tigers can start faster and match that intensity it goes a long way and win the game well in their past 11 games the West tigers have only beaten Paramount twice and both of those games were decided by a solitary point so in saying that who are you tipping and if it is the home side will it be by a field goal again it could be could be like the last couple of games for par and the Tigers have been close so um saying that you you kind of lean towards the home um home team here in the west Tigers but I'm going to tip the PS I think they've been scoring a few points and I think that's got them over the line um the last few occasions in their win so um again yeah I don't know it's a hard one to pick it is a hard one to pick but I'll go with P all right thanks Josh uh tickets are sold out if you want information on the game stay tuned to nrl.com if you aren't heading to the game you can still watch it on foxtail Sky New Zealand or KO kickoff is at 600 p.m. [Music]
