Jaw-Dropping Scoop and Score: Brent Curvey's Epic Play for Iowa State

all right so let's have some fun here um Brent and Marcus had uh unquestionably outstanding seasons for the Iowa State Cyclones they had some big plays as well and Brent you didn't you didn't necessarily have the opportunity to call their plays because you were either in school or maybe in junior high when it came to Marcus so uh I think Chris is gonna pull up um Brent uh cvey in one of his games and this is we're gonna give you an opportunity to oh my gosh broadcast to the world as if you were there that day one of one of the plays that Brent cve made as an Iowa State football player gotta be a scoop of score in there gotta be a scoop of score I got an idea what it might be all right so Chris here we go oh this is Baylor footage are we going we going okay this is in W is so bad so this W we're we're in the 1970s it looks like out of the pistol formation a hit by Tyson Smith picked up by Cy there he goes Cy 30 20 10 five touchdown in the end big play Brent Cy yard on the scooping score pretty good I love the fact that you still you call without through that grainy video that Wasson Smith right Tyson right there yeah yeah that was Tyson that was Tyson we you know the crazy part about it some people know and I think I've mentioned it before but that that game we got locked in an elevator so elevator we got stuck in an elevator and me and Tyson were talking about it we was like bro because this that defense we had just put in it's like look if I hit him you score you hit him I'm a score and it happen in that game there hot in the elevator for like 20 minutes no movement waiting on you know somebody let us out and and me and Tyson talked about it man and it happened it was just it was the craziest thing so you had to had a wide open look because you're raising your arm at about the 20 yard line knowing you're gonna score man see people don't like so audio like audio visual stuff I loved right so I had like my god brother worked in that audio visual space and he was like there's always a delay that's what he told me so like when you see a a monitor a show and all of that stuff there's always a delay so when I'm running my eyes are always up because I'm looking at the monitor so I'm like oh if I see myself okay I'm good I saw nobody behind me so I was like oh we're good you know same thing happened with Colorado I looked and I saw somebody coming I was like oh oh [ __ ] it's about a second so let me start you know you gotta use everything man you know what look that wasn't even H that wasn't even HD yeah right right so you know it's like almost a two second delay so as soon as you saw anything take off so that looked like a VHS tape that Marcus may have recorded off the VCR that probably was a VHS tape it's hard to believe that was in the 2000s hey you know the crazy thing is if I remember right that game wasn't on TV that was uh because I couldn't watch that was radio only back in Iowa so um when when cvey played in 2000 I looked this up once in 2004 only three of Iowa State's 11 games are even on television wow that's crazy how much it's changed and that's where the money all comes in too that's see it yeah that's so true all right so we we heard we we heard you uh replaying Brent's play Let's now turn to Marcus and we'll turn to the hardwood and give you a chance to call out one of Marcus's F plays oh here we go all right 25 seconds left Iowa stayed on the road in fog looking for a first win there in literally 16 years nurse handling gets it over to Horton eight on the shot clock Iowa State's got to go it's Tinsley spinning over to Horton three on the shot clock Iowa State's got to go fizer fade away from 18 good you gotta be kidding me fizer with a dagger Iowa stayed up four six seconds left and this is just another gym at fog Allen and then he gets yelled Out by Larry station of course immediately immediately he yelling for us to get over there to the timeout that was I thought you were gonna do the Texas one but I like I like the curveball there with uh I think that shot's underrated that was a massive win massive oh yeah that was a big win big win that was one of the most focused games probably like even after we got into the locker room I remember being in the lock room and us sitting down like it was halftime like we weren't even celebrating we were sitting down like it was like it was halftime we were still that locked in
