Now thousands are attending the Mexican Independence Day Festival on the city's South side, and it is quite a celebration full of color out there. As Aaron Maybin shows us, today's fun began with a parade. Reporter the Mexican Independence Day parade featured a lot of cars like these ones right here. There is also so much rich heritage, good food and pride. All around the city. This is a tradition that countless families never want to miss. It lined the streets every single year for this event. The parade kicked off at 10:00 in the morning. This is the 50th anniversary of Mexican Independence Day parade and festival. Mexican flags flew high all morning long. The parade started at 20th and Oklahoma and ended at the Yuma's headquarters on South Chase Avenue. People talked with Fox six about why they did not want to miss this parade. Definitely seeing all of the all of the cars pass by. It's really fun and everybody making noises. My family is from Puerto Rico. My husband's family is from Mexico. Coming to this country looking for better opportunities. Bringing that to our kids, it makes us feel proud. This is always something to look forward to. And just so that they can know a little bit more about their heritage. And you know what it's like to celebrate with their people after this parade.
