Stanwood, local ten news. >> We're seeing new video tonight of a deadly hit and run that happened right outside of a police station tonight. >> The officer, who was flagged down by witnesses but didn't help, has been fired from the force. Local ten crime specialist Bridgette Matter is live in Miami Beach to show us Bridgette and this crash had happened right outside the Miami Beach Police Department. >> Not only do investigators say that driver left without helping that person on the bicycle, but they also say one of their officers didn't help either. A woman ridinger electric bicycle along Washington Avenue was tragically killed in a hit and run crash back in April. It happened right outside of the Miami Beach Police Department in the moments following, several good Samaritans ran over to help. Sadly, the victim, 63 year old Ezmut Couture, died from her injuries. We have highlighted where she was hit and look here, just feet away, a Miami Beach police officer sitting at a stoplight. You then see people running to the officer desperate for help. What happens next? Instead of helping, the officer drives off on May 1st, Miami Beach police Internal Affairs departmentrillioneceived a report of employee misconduct against former officer Edward Cavalli. He was accused of failing to respond to the crash. In a statement, Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones says in part Mr. Cavalli was notified of a hit and run crash but failed to respond. Instead of adhering tour protocols by taking immediate action, Mr. Cavalli directed the civilians who reported the collision to enter the police station and file the report themselves. The department says his actions are not tolerated and his employment was terminated immediately. Let's rewind. The driver accused of hitting the 63 year old was arrested months later. An eight page arrest warrant identifies the driver as DeMarcus Harrington. Police say he was following an acquaintance that was driving another Bronco after leaving a liquor store. Following the crash. The acquaintance tried to convince Harrington to go back, but Harrington replied he was not going back to jail. Video here timestamped less than three minutes after the crash, shows the suspect ditched the blue Bronco and climb into the other Bronco, the report says the two got into a heated argument that almost turned physical. This Harrington to Miami Beachnew of police, which helped lead to an arrest. The Miami Beach Police Department says that after that crash was reported to officers inside, someone did come outside side and try to help that woman who was laying here on the ground. That suspect is facing serious charges and he remains behind bars tonight. For
