hello ladies and gentlemen welcome back to another video so today's video is a big F1 news video uh so this video is being made on Tuesday but it's supposed to come out on Wednesday so I'm going to speak as if this was you know made on Wednesday so yesterday F1 put out a picture uh or a post on Instagram saying that Logan Sergeant will not be racing with Williams for the rest of the season and it was kind of known that that was going to happen but it also was kind of weird because Williams said after they signed col of science uh that Logan would not lose his spot and I even said that in my Carlos signs video um which is now private um but I did say that in my Carlos SS video stating that Logan would not lose his spot even though Carlos was signed to the team he was signed for next year but it turns out that they uh lied not necessarily their fault they I they just got to do what they got to do to keep the team on the right track so they replaced Logan with an F2 driver Franco Franco is an F2 driver and will be driving in Logan spot for the remainder of the season so today we're going to read an f1.com article that kind of goes through it and it it kind of goes through a lot of things gives us some insight on it so yeah without further Ado let's get into the video but before I start reading the article thank you guys for watching viewing subscribing doing all those things I appreciate every single one of you guys so let's get into today's article Formula 1 teams don't like to change their driver lineup midseason because it's disruptive but so disappointed were Williams with Logan Sergeant performances this season boss James RS felt like he had no other choice but to ax the American and to bring in Franco kapino for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix Sergeant was rewarded with a second F1 season alongside Alex albon for 2024 with vows putting his arm around sergeant and trying to help him maximize his talents however he maintained that F1 is a mediocracy and it was down to Sergeant to prove he deserves to stay the 23-year-old has failed to do that his performance curve has leveled out and times and at times dipped he's feel to score a single point this season the closest he came was 11th one place a drift while his teammate Alex albon has scored two ninth places for four points and he's cost the team a lot of money with two significant crashes one in Japan and most recently in third practice in the Netherlands that last crash hurt a lot as the car was packed with a precious new Arrow package and what was the team's first major upgrade of the season and it was intended to lift the team into a point scoring position in a matter of seconds it was in bits that was the final straw after Sergeant's crash on Saturday vowel spent the afternoon and evening making inquiries with the other teams about drivers who might be able to replace Sergeant at short notice for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza there were slightly chicky position in that they only needed one driver for nine races as Kos science had already signed to drive for the team in place of Sergeant for 2025 and Beyond so as a whole James vows decided that Logan didn't do well enough to deserve his spot and I said this in my video I made yesterday or today talking about Lon Norris and the xanor Grand Prix the Dutch Grand Prix uh I talked a little bit about how I think the crash may or may not have been the final straw or the last nail in the coffin whatever I decided to say but here it basically proves that that was the case I mean they did say that he wouldn't lose his spot but obviously with this whole thing happening and them giving him a new upgrade package and then him just destroying it in a matter of seconds uh it it kind of proves that that you know he he he tried his best he had a second chance to do it he had a second season to do it and he just couldn't deliver apparently James vals even went as far as to ask team principal for Red Bull Christian Herer if they could take the reserve driver Liam Lawson Christian Herer did say no and the article continues to talk about it saying it was not a possibility as Red Bull were not keen on losing the reserve driver because they may need to draft him into one of their teams Red Bull or RB if Sergio perz is form tails off in the next few races Red Bull are locked in a tight fight with McClaren for the Constructor Championship and committing to loaning out Loston for the rest of the season simply was not an option equally Williams weren't willing to take Lawson on the basis that they would have to release him during the season if Red Bull required his Services there are some suggestions that Mercedes Reserve driver Mick schumacker could be in contention but sources say that the German son of seven time world champion Michael was never a front runner to step back on the grid with Williams with Williams convinced a change was required immediately they they opted to promote with from within and take on their junior Academy driver colapinto whom they ran during fe1 at Silverstone earlier this year the team rate the Argentine who is currently six in F2 having scored one win and two second places this year very highly and believe bringing him in is the best option as they look to maximize the upgraded car and score points to catch Alpine for p8 in the Constructor Championship kapino was in the Williams factory on Tuesday as a part of his driver Academy duties this was an opportunity to get his eye in on the simulator ahead of flying to Italy on Wednesday to begin what will be rapid preparations for his Grand Prix debut it's a massive task for Kinto and ultimately a massive risk to bring in a rookie but the team believe he is a fast learner who can adapt quickly to his new challenge it means that Sergeant's 36 Grand Prix run in Formula 1 comes to an end and it remains unclear what lies in store as well as Williams saying that Logan is still part of the family because of him being part of the driver Academy also help him find another Drive in a series outside of Formula 1 the American cut a sad and disheartened figure in vanv and it was evident that he realized time was running out to keep his seat for the rer of the season after he crashed in practice he'll leave F1 having become the first American to score point in F1 since Michael and jti 30 years ago and while he has failed to make himself a main stay in F1 there is a brief Concept in Motor Sport circles that he has the talent to forge a career in any other racing series so before we get into some statements I do like to say that um just just Logan Sergeant being in F1 is like is like in of itself something truly amazing right like there are only 20 drivers in the world that can actually join F1 and he was one of them I mean he was the first American to race and score a point in 30 years so that also is very impressive though it was one point due a dis due to a disqualification it was still impressive nonetheless so I'm glad Williams are deciding to keep him as a part of the family and are deciding to help him find a spot not in F1 but in a different racing series because I definitely believe that he deserves a spot to race it may be Indie Car it may be something else it may be something completely different I don't know but I think that there is definitely a space for him in Motorsport somewhere so next up I have four statements from different people uh three of them are from williams.com like their actual website and then the fourth is from a Instagram post that Alex albon made talking about the whole situation so the first one comes from Williams themselves in their announcement saying that Williams races announces that Franco kapino will race with the team for the remainder of the 2024 season and will compete from the Italian Grand Prix alongside Alex albon he will Race using the number 43 Franco is a member of the Williams Racing driver Academy and made his fp1 debut in this year's FW 46 at the British Grand Prix his F2 campaign this year has seen him secure a race win in IMA and podiums in the Barcelona and Austria feature races as well as seven further Point scoring out outings the 21-year-old will become the 49th Grand Prix driver for Williams Racing the first Argentine driver in F1 for 23 years and the second Argentine driver to drive for the British outfit following his countryman Carlos Rutman the team would like to take this opportunity to thank Logan Sergeant for his hard work and contribution over the past two seasons he has competed in 36 Grand Prix and the US GP last year became the first American to score an F1 Point since Michael andred 30 years prior Logan will remain in the Williams family and we will support him throughout his racing career the second one comes from the F2 driver Franco kapino who said it is an honor to be making my F1 debut with Williams this is what dreams are made of the team has such an amazing history and a mission to get back to the front which I can't wait to be a part of coming into an F1 midseason will be an enormous learning curve but I'm up for the challenge and I'm fully focused on working as hard as I can with Alex and the team to make it a success and then the third one we have comes from the team principal James vows and uh this is what he had to say he said to replace a driver mid-season is not a decision we have taken lightly but we believe this gives Williams the best chance to compete for points over the remainder of the Season we have just brought a large upgrade to the car and need to maximize every Point scoring opportunity in a remarkably tight Midfield battle we also believe in investing in our young drivers and the Williams Academy and Franco is getting a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate what he is capable of across the nine final rounds of the season this is undoubtedly incredibly tough on Logan who has given it his all throughout his time with Williams and we want to thank him for all his hard work and positive attitude Logan remains a talented driver and we will support him and continue we will continue to support him throughout his racing career and I know that Franko has great speed and huge potential we look forward to seeing what he can do in Formula 1 and the last we have comes from a very nice uh Twitter post made by his teammate Alex albon who wrote a very kind letter uh talking about the whole situation it's pretty short but it's it's very kind uh it says I know firsthand how brutal this sport can be and it's tough to see Logan leave the team midseason you gave it your old brother and it's been a pleasure being teammates with you I know whatever you do next you'll be awesome which is a very kind way to say it and then he also added a very nice picture as well so uh I'm glad he did it he didn't have to do it but it it makes the most sense and um I mean it's kind of it makes it kind of sad right I mean obviously not not everything works out and it just didn't work out for Logan but uh I'm glad that he got the chance to race with Williams for the past two seasons and I hope he you know finds somewhere else to go and he finds somewhere else to race because I definitely believe he has the potential to you know do it so I just want to say thank you to Logan sergeant for giving it your all and yeah I hope you have a good future
