We want to get back to that breaking news right now in broom, officers say that there is an active shooting situation at the Aristo Flats apartments on central court that's near the first bank center. Residents living in the area are being asked to shelter in place. Our very own digital desk producer, Nate Lynn lives near the area. Joins us over the phone right now. Nate, you were one of the first ones to alert us to this situation. That's right. Um I got a uh notice uh a text on my phone and then a phone call of a shelter in place saying there was police activity nearby and so I should stay at home and uh just be safe. And so I immediately called the station and let them know uh about that. And uh and then not long after that, I heard what sounded like gunfire and then I heard two more bursts of gunfire and just to help us build an accurate timeline of all of this. What time did you get that shelter in place? It was about 730 this morning. And then about how long after did you hear those gunshots? It was probably within 10 minutes. And so we have sent our crew over that way, but we can't right now, we're not putting them live on air because we're, we gotta get them in a safe spot. Are you still hearing shots being fired in the area? Um, I haven't heard anything in a while. Um, and I can't see what's happening. My apartment actually faces the opposite direction. Um, so I'm just staying inside right now and I haven't been able to hear any additional gunshots. All right, Nate, we appreciate you taking the time to first of all, alert us to this and then talk to us a little bit more and help us understand the situation. Thank you. We do want to get out to our crew on the ground as Corey was just mentioning Brianna Fernandez is out there in a safe spot around the scene. Brianna. What do you know right now? Hey, good morning guys. Yeah, we just arrived on scene just a couple of minutes ago. We know this is an active shooting investigation. According to Broomfield police, I do want to step out of the way and kind of show you what I'm seeing on my end here on the ground right now. So this is the the flat apartment just a couple of seconds ago. I was noticing an officer running down the sidewalk with a rifle we're having police Broomfield police blocking this area at the moment. We are seeing also neighbors just exactly what is going on after several of them receive that shelter in place notification. You can see a very active scene and we're trying to be polite and stay away from the scene because we know that this is still an active investigation. We also know from Broomfield police. They are saying that shots are still being fired again. This is at the intersection of central courts in Broomfield, at the risk of flats apartments. They're asking people to stay in doors do not be outside. Again, this is an active scene, it is not safe. According to Broomfield police, again, still a developing story. A lot of questions that we are still trying to get gather more information and of course, once we get that information from Broomfield police and once we're at a safe location that we can get to will bring you the latest for now. I live here in Broomfield Fernandez for nine years. I want to emphasize really quickly if we can keep her stay with her just really quickly. Um You were mentioning that they are saying that shots are still being fired. Can you elaborate on that a little bit more? You know, they're saying shots are still being fired. We have not heard any of those gunshots but you can see more crews are arriving on scene. We have North Metro Fire. We also have a huge mobile command center in the middle of that intersection along a risk of flat apartments. We are not hearing gunshots, we are seeing neighbors come out. But again, Broomfield police is saying stay indoors. This is an active scene. They don't want to mess with the investigation because this is still a developing story. Yeah, very interesting. We just saw the fire crew also show up. So a lot of different agencies that are out there this morning, Brianna, thank you so much for getting out to the scene. Uh giving us an update on this again.
