we have to do with the fire Market ask question while waiting I Harris and Minnesota governor to have Governor walls here so with that being said it is my honor to introduce a teacher coach veteran public being said e it is my honor to introduce a teacher coach veteran public servant and true midwesterner East Lancing please give it up for vice president Tim Waltz wow they they they pre me good on this so it didn't come out they were afraid it was going to be go goer you know look Liam thank you thanks for the work you're doing really grateful uh appreciate that kind introduction uh to uh to the whole Community here president uh Gus witch thank you for that mayor Shore and to each of you look you're busy and you came here today I'm grateful but I have to tell you uh the thanks that I want to give you on behalf of uh vice president Harrison myself we're grateful we're grateful for the opportunity to try and earn your support we try and earn your vote but I have to say this I'm grateful for our democracy that you're here there's a lot of folks that would like to tell you that our system is broken like to tell you you doesn't count like to tell you that the systems Rigg all of those things that's a whole attempt on voter suppression I think it's a lot better to do voter engagement let people make up their own mind how they're going to vote give them the information so you coming here is an absolute manifestation that you believe in this country you believe in this democracy and you're going to take a stake in it so thank you so very much for that I do have to say I was given this as I walked in which uh I'm I'm incredibly grateful for it's a book that some of you wrote in that says I'm voting in this election because and I looked at it just briefly here and just at the start I want to keep the American dream alive for the Next Generation I'm voting in this election because I want to protect women's freedom and equality I want to vote to protect our Reproductive Rights I'm hoping for a brighter safer future for our country I want my niece and nephew to be safe in schools so I'm going to hand you this for now but for each of you thanks for coming out and uh I think you know and I keep saying this uh the stakes couldn't be clearer I'm guessing some of you watched the other night and uh look and there there's a lot of points in there uh one of those two people is going to be president of the United States and it was clear on that stage there is only one that's qualified to be president of the United States K Harris took that stage with poise with dignity with an understanding that she works for you that it's about what's best for the people and on the other side of the aisle you saw an angry man yelling at people get up his yard and uh which at some point in there would be funny but I think you understood a lot of the things that he said in there are incredibly dangerous they're incredibly dangerous to deny election they're incredibly dangerous to dehumanize other people it's incredibly dangerous to not put a plan forward around things like healthare and Social Security that people care about in their lives depend on it and someone who had an opportunity as president to try and Tackle something some of these things made it very clear that he was not interested in doing that and so all of you you see it and I and I say this often when I see young I don't think you can underestimate when young people get involved in the process it reinforces to everyone that the future can be brighter and that our democracy is strong because I can't say it again this whole idea of trying to get you to check out of the system is part of what trying to they're trying to do so when you stand in the face of that stand in the breach show up get involved make the case heard that's the way it's supposed to work and look we know we're a big country with a lot of differences but if we share those core values and then come together around the core values to compromise on things that move us forward we know that that's how things were we have a saying in Minnesota um when we all do better we all do better it's pretty it's pretty simple and this and I keep talking about this a weird fascination with other people's bedrooms not healthy a weird Fascination especially when you're a man telling women about their bodies is not healthy in any way and I keep saying so many of these things we've got real issues we need to solve climate change is real and needs to be addressed the idea of how we're going to Mo forth with an economy that's fair for everyone how are you going to get an education and not be saddled for debt for a lifetime how are you going to be able to afford a house the idea that the promise of this country is you work hard you do what's right you should be able to live the life you want to live and choose the life you want to do we shouldn't have so many children food insecure that's why I'm glad great Governors like gret and Whitmer and you see across this make sure that our kids and like we did in Minnesota every kid there eats breakfast and lunch every day those are people that are smart they're smart to do I going to say this about re Whitmer it's thanks to her my son Gus is a Spartan she sends him shirts she sends him burners she sends him everything and so I go out to like goph for games and he's all dressed out in green bad politic but look you got a governor that understands it you got a governor that when you invest in people you invest in your education you invest in infrastructure you fix the roads you make sure people have healthare what happens with that is you have a healthier more productive population you see your businesses grow and you see more people reach that potential that they want to by not just getting by but thriving and you know here in Michigan and in Minnesota a lot of that starts with some of the basic freedoms to be able to have your own choices around your for the work you do and when that happens businesses do better too so look I keep you know we got 5 that the entire presidential campaign that you're going to have that type of impact and I keep saying this you're not doing that work to elect KLA Harris shares your values and she's the leader uh on campus 52,000 they're going to register 10,000 new voters there is a real possibility that the entire presidential campaign goes right through rooms like this here in Michigan that you're going to have that type of impact and I keep saying this uh kept his word on one thing he told a bunch of his buddies in marago you're rich as hell I'm going give you a tax guy he did it he to win another election you win elections to burn political Capital to improve lives whether those people are in this room whether they're in this room whether they're somewhere else and what adaris says too whether they vote for us or not we work just as hard for them to improve their lives and their family's lives and that's the difference on the other side it's pretty simple I did say this I said Donald Trump uh kept his word on one thing he told a bunch of his buddies in maralago your riches tell him give you a tax C he did it he followed through and he did it um it added massive amount of debt and then again we see Republicans get elected which I will say this we're going to need we're going to need folks who share our values in the House and Senate you need to elect Curtis to the house to make sure that we have a democratic but then we're able to move some of those proposals that make a difference we're able to improve people's lives we're able to make sure that after this election those things you want to see get done do get done and it restor people's Faith Donald Trump on the other hand he's not that interested in it and so what they do is those guys run for office telling you the government doesn't work and it's broken then they get elected and prove it because they don't do a damn thing they shut down the government they vote against things they get tax C to the wealthy they drive up the deficit and they say oh we don't have enough money for Education we don't have enough money for healthare every other nation in the world can figure out how to do paid family medical leave our country should sure be able to do that you shouldn't have to lose your job you get sick or you're recovering from chemotherapy treatment those are B things you do that businesses grow too so look I know you all know this stuff I also say I think you being here is so encouraging but I also think you should you know just Embrace this idea that your generation is living with the stupid decisions that were made by previous generations in some cases and I know this and I say this that hasn't always been true the generation that came before me made it so that I could go to school at the time when I went yes I know was a long time ago but but here's the deal this is the deal so those who are complaining that there shouldn't be student of bone relief that that uh Joe Biden tried to do here's the reason that that is a bogus argument that you're getting something that that no one else got when I went to school you could work a minimum wage job in the summer and pay an entire Year's tuition at the University of Minnesota just by those three months of work minimum wage job to be able to do it because it was gred on the front end to understand education is not a money-making Endeavor it's how we investing you our future economy and Innovation for this country so those types of decisions are going to fall heavily on you and then I would leave you with this final thought the folks who don't want to address things like climate change who don't want to address things like def in our water who don't want to do those things you should be super concerned even more than me about that because I will be dead long before you and you're going to have to deal with it for decades to come so the folks we're electing right now have a responsibility to you to think about the future and think about several Generations ahead and here's the thing 53 days to make an impact that will last Generations 53 days that I can assure you the rest of the world is sitting there on wondering what the heck happened to our country when one presidential candidate on stage is yelling they eat dogs and the other one is talking about how to make housing more important with our alliances and our allegiances and doing things right anding that commit ask you humbly if we can earn your support and your vote if you can talk to someone don't underestimate just talking to someone don't you took time on your busy schedule with there's folks out there they have no idea what's going on they're down there complaining cuz we walked the road and they're trying to get and they probably should so but but when you talk to him no ad's going to do it it's not going to be mayor yet but it's going to be is you talking to them and saying look I think this is the right choice because of this I think this is the right choice because this is the impact and when you look at everything together this is what we should be doing is that a I'm done I know it should be look I do want to say we're grateful you're here I hope you're feeling the energy I keep up with this Comm Harris did her job the other night and the thing I want to say to everybody in here especially the women and people of color the folks who are surprised she did that shame on them I'm not surprised she did she's been doing it her whole life for God's sake she you got a prosecutor a county attorney you've got the Attorney General of the largest state you've got a United States Senator and a vice president and of course that's what she was going to do but I think many of you in here know the expectations get a lot higher but I will tell you what for all of us on that 54th day when we wake up and we have Madam president a lot of that changes we've been hitting at that a lot of you've been hitting at that glass ceiling and as uh as secretary Clinton said in Chicago there's a lot of cracks in it but it's not down you can be a part of that to put that fist through that glass ceiling for the last time here put KLA Harris in the White House let's start moving this country forward so thank you all holding we need to move
