football to start this one and we'll get to see the brand new kicker for the horn frogs out there for the first time Kyle liberman is a true freshman out of south lake Carol this guy was rated the best kicker in the country at South Lake Caroline ex sou run 88 touchbacks as a High School kicker right ran EST Marshall new house and Elvis goes with you glad you've joined us here from the 35 yd line horn frog to the purple pants white jerseys the purple hats kickoff sells deep left it is caught by brass Bryce barell at the Gold Line and he'll get to the 10 and that is Max Carell horn frogs will cover him up Chad BS all that tackle and he might be down and injured that was a collision there guys yeah Max Caroll with the big hit yes Max Carroll gets credit for the tackle Chad Banks is up and walking off now so it's going to be first and 10 for Stanford they'll open this series at the 11 yd line and they'll do it in all red for the first time since 2011 we got red pants red jerseys with white numerals and the white helmets here for Ashton Daniels the quarterback the junior out of Buford Georgia L at Buford High School 62 215 pounder he's got Micah Ford as his L setback standing to his right they'll work right to left across your dial two receivers left two right Daniels in the pocket pressure comes he steps up deep ball right side man coverage frogs are there ball is there and it's knocked away at the 35 yd line good coverage downfield by J Travis Bron the senior out of Tulsa and the pass already you can see they looking for ell man he is a big time wide receiver you love to see the the patience there that ball hung in the air a while a lot of chances to get a defensive pass interference and he holds off second and 10 now for Stanford the Cardinal we'll get you the starting lineup for them as we go four wies two to either side now one back in they'll hand it off running to his right as Mel Ford bounces it out of the 20 penalty marker comes hand and it'll take it down to the near the 30 yd line this one might be coming back as J Johnson out 31 would have been 20 might beum aor there on the edge would have been good enough for a 20 yard gain but it looks like this one's headed back the other way holding offense number 86 the the the rush is stand four yards on that carry will in fact stand that was going to be whistled on Sam Rous the tight end Jerry magalis is our referee out of the ACC Jeremy ep the Umpire the headline judge is Dan Harrington line judge is Colin formac the field judge is Steve Curry side Judge Jerry Hawker back judge Larry Wy Center judge Ryan Winger a replay official is Keith Rhoden second and 13 at the second and 13 now two receivers to the left one on the right hand side for the eight- yd line handed off forward up the middle and not much doing there he'll get to the line of scrimmage and that is all good time for that defensive line to step up Johnny Hodes was able to fill the Gap that time for the horn frogs that offensive line for Stanford Luke Baleno is at left tackle Jake Michela is at left guard Levi Rogers is a SE senior cter Simeone PA is a sore Right Guard and Conor mlin is the right tackle he's a another senors out a Tampa Jesuit it's an offensive line that starts two seniors two sophomores and a junior for Ashton Daniels out of the shotgun he'll work four down lineman come plenty of time looks fires left hand side over the top coverage and a penalty marker comes in here late that was going to be incomplete frogs were in Pursuit Jackson Harris was the intended target but the safety over the top comes flying in Richard Tony pass interference Defense number 23 15yd penalty automatic first down yeah Tony was in coverage along with J Johnson and they're going to whistle the penalty there on Richard toy and it'll keep the drive alive for Stanford you hate to see that you're off the field on Third and long he throws a pass out of bounds uncatchable if you're Tony you got to have better awareness than that Elvis you want your defensive backs to play aggressive just not that aggressive right yeah probably too little amped up Tony came in for that specific play and yeah I didn't think it was catch Bo either you heard the coaches over here but man discipline early in this first drive Ashton Daniels the quarterback out of the shotgun two receivers right bring a Man in Motion they'll throw it to him on the screen right with blockers in front across the 2530 up to the 32 yd line ish CeCe that's a gain of nine on that carry and bring up S reception I should say second down and nine now it HS his brog defense it's seeing tempo for the first time by the Cardinal here's the quarterback Daniels out of the shotgun pressure up the middle time and Mitchell in Pursuit he eludes it does Daniels he'll run down the right sideline and punched out of bounds near Midfield and another penalty marker comes in 15 on the Run 15 yards on that run to Travis Bron punches him out of bounds near Midfield and I think he's going to be wh here for the late hit elv you made a good point I think these guys are amped up they've got to pull off on these 50/50 situations you love the aggressiveness but they have to keep their composure that's right after the play personal foul unnecessary rough this defense number 13 15yd penalty automatic first down to Travis brought the transfer out of UT played a lot of snaps for the yous Kyle whitning hams defense but he sets up stand for for now first down and 10 at the 38 yd line of the horn frogs Ashton D extending plays with legs already buch set to the right now for the Cardinal ball of the right hash they work right to left one receiver comes wide to the left hand side one back in to throw the football now Daniels pressure up the middle they'll get to him this time and down he goes back at the 44 yd line that's going to be a loss of six on the play Marcus deal was there for the horn frogs along with nambi obior name to obior a guy you've heard a lot about all Camp gets there at the same time for the sack obior along with Johnny Hodges at linebacker here for this ball game at starting front with Caleb Fox and Ty and Mitchell as your tackles Nana oafa Mena and Cooper McDonald at the ends one receiver to the right one of the left-and side tight into that side as well the hand it off this time to Michael Ford frogs are there to hit him in the back field and down he go back to the 46 yd line Marcus deal again on the tackle and Elvis That's the guy you talked about during fall practice you wanted to see more out of yeah I love this kid I mean Big Time recruit coming out of high school great size I mean he's got a great motor you see what a great just he is disciplin stay his Gap finishes the play he's looking good and that's he's only been in the uh in the game a couple plays and he's shown up now it's third and 18 third down at 18 for the 46 ydd line Cedric Irving is in at running back the sophomore out of Miami good receiver out of the backfield STS to the left of the quarterback Daniels to the middle of the field Retreats out of the shotgun Daniels with all kinds of time great blocking up front now it breaks down to the Frog will get dang it face at the 50 yd line they'll get him down that's going to be a loss of four but there is a penalty marker there oafa Mina gets credit for the sack let's check the penalty though personal foul face Mas Defense number nine 15yd penalty automatic first down that's Marcel Brooke who had come in for that play so you've had a pass interference on a third and 13 and this one on a third and 18 to keep the drive alive that was one of those first exotic looks from a defensive coordinator Andy aalos he had four pass rushers on the field three standing up in two-point stances to the right of the defense trying to create some pressure from different looks third and 11 now from the 31 yards give to be first and 10 I should say for the 31 yd line now for the Stanford Cardinal after the penalty charge to the horn frogs Micah Ford returns at running pack for Stanford your Corners in this one lamarian James and J Travis Bron for TCU Jam Johnson Bud Clark and ab Kamar are your safeties so before this one gets underway there is a stoppage in play it's going to be a timeout taken by Stanford timeout Stanford their first time out of the half coach second timeout takes the timeout 32nd time out we're going to keep it right here then with 11:32 to play here in this opening quarter no score between the frogs and the TCU and the St for Cardinal TCU now you think about it Elvis here early on it's been a lot of emotion been flying around theyve been aggressive defensively but you got to sort of ramp it down a little bit here and play disciplined football don't you yeah I mean those were a couple of the keys that we just talked about you know discipline is key that's one of the pillars of Coach DK's program right he talks about disciplin and you're seeing it early on I think three that's three penalties on this drive that affected him the pass rush too guys hasn't looked great I mean it seems like they just got all day to throw the ball and that's going to be problems if we can't fix that yeah early on Stanford's offensive line Marshall they spent a lot of time of the off season working on that seems to be improved first out of 10 now from the 31 yd line two receivers to the left one to the right Micah Ford stands to the left of the quarterback here Daniels out of the shotgun they'll pitch it to forward try the reverse read perfectly frog will get him down back to the 40 yd line there's Marcus deal again ishmail CeCe excuse me Devon deal I should say on the tackle Deon deal not Marcus and that's all the way back to the 40 yd line a loss of nine on the play so it's a 49 yd drive at this point for Stanford 45 of it has come on TCU penalties that's just a wild start to a game but you know first game game Jitters a lot of aggression a lot of different looks too second down now second and 19 to the 40 yd line of the front two receivers right one to the left hand side Cedric Irvin the the stands to the right of the quarterback here is in the shotgun frog show pressure up the middle they hand it off to Irving red perfectly by tc9 get him down immediately it was as if Johnny Hodes knew that play his recognition has been so quick on this first drive you could tell he's been in the film room but there's not a whole lot out there he's just using his instincts yep third down now third and 19 [Applause] oh I'd like to keep a blitz count so far compared to last year on this TCU [Applause] defense out of the shotgun Works ashon Daniels now one back stands to his left Made In Motion across the formation is bachmeier yet to touch the football is Tiger bachmeier pressure comes from the edge Daniels reads it flushed out of the pocket he's got room rolling left 40 3530 on his feet 2520 first down and more inside the 15 lost the football loosen the ground inside the 10 and recovered by the Cardinal at the 9yd line frogs brought pressure and if you don't get there they can make you pay with the feed of ashon Daniels he does for 31 yards and a first and goal now let's see where they're going to spot it just inside the 10 of the N9 yd line first and goal of the nine T was bringing exotic looks they're moving and twisting up front they could have gotten home but ashon D extends the play with his feet again ishmail CeCe recovers that fumbled three receivers right two to the left hand side out of the shotgun Works Daniels now they go five wide spread it see if they keep it on the ground with Daniels he takes it he'll run it right up the middle of Daniel slides to the seven yd line you can just feel that coming that time Travis Jackson on the tackle Jackson's a guy they're high own he's a freshman out of Tyler played in Legacy High School formerly known as Tyler Lee second down at seven now Ashton Daniel is the true dual threat quarterback they're going to incorporate quarterback runs and you can see he's great on his feet second down now second and goal at the seven Stanford threatening here this is the perfect drive for them as well they wanted to slow this game down they wanted to reduce the number of possessions they've held on to it Irvin stands to the left of Daniels he'll take the snap runs behind Irvin left Hodges wraps him up trying to throw him backwards and does here at the four yd line third down and goal up coming now for the C got a very nice spot here closer to the three from this ACC officiating we're coming up on8 minutes left in the first quarter TC offense has not even seen the field that's what we're talking about this is exactly what Stanford wanted to do third and goal now the three two receivers to the left make it three two to the left two to the right as they Shuffle It Out Cedric Irvin stays in at running back stands to the left of the quarterback Daniels on third down a goal at the three snap comes back Daniels looks right slowly fires touchdown Stanford in the slot right Jackson Harris able to haul it in the sophomore from Berkeley his first career touchdown in Stanford with the early lead here on TCU in an impressive drive that was well it was helped out a bit by the frogs Yeah those penalties do not do you any favors Harris on the point on the right runs a little stick route as puts it right there on his numbers touchdown EMT Cy is out now for the point after to hold it will be Conor wessman snapping it back is pton Warford for the Cardinal looking to go up Seven nothing on the horn frogs who had several chances to get them off the field on that opening drive unable to do so we talked about that pregame you know these things are not going to go smoothly you you hope the penalties are things you can control and removed from the game but this just the first drive there's a lot of football left point after to come now all scoring plays are looked at they checked it it's good now the pat High snap placements now the kick is up and it is good impressive drive for the Cardinal to open and they lead it right now TCU 757 to play in the opening quarter 7 nothing stand over the horns Ro back we come to Palo Alto after this local timeout here on the hor Rock Sports network from learfield the term fight is the TCU soccer Elis skos our producer engineer tonight is Kyle cross Brian sp's our statistician our spotter is Wayne goer Dave shook is back at the merid studios Sarge has the con for this one scoring drive 12 plays 89 yards took 659 off the clock and we talked about the penalty Zone 45 yards at penalties charged to TCU on that drive that really kept it alive yeah they should have been off the field in three or four plays Stanford had penalties of their own but they overcame them and that's what this is going to be about is what you do when adversity hits and those penalties are aggression penalties you're okay with those one time you're not okay with those repeatedly checking along the sidelines for DNM Leasing and Elvis one of the things that you talked about as being disciplined there's a fine line here I I'll be honest with you that opening dve doesn't necessarily upset me if I'm Andy OS you don't want to give up the score right but but I saw some real positive things on this defense yeah and you know discipline is not always resulting in a penalty sometimes discipline is saying sound in your depths and in your lanes I think I'm watching right now fellas from the sideline how the new rule of having the tablets and watching stuff and talking to guys through where to stay how to Loop where to stay your lines I can overhear a little bit of that talk so yeah they just they're going to be okay if if you look at that you in many ways you gifted so many yards right and you a disadvantage and they're exhausted after the being in the red zone so I wouldn't overreact and I don't expect coach a to do that all right em Kenny now to kick it off for Stanford from right to left back deep for the horn fugs major everheart along with Trey Sanders for TCU here's your line drop kick from right to left going to be taken everheart's going to let his sell through the back of the end zone we'll see the Frog offense for the first time yeah you heard Elvis mention the tablets in now communication a big story in college football this year because they do have the tablets they can see the video they can comment on those obviously on the field with the players in addition to that you've got communication in the headset between coaches and quarterback coaches and linebacker meaning like right now Josh Hoover in his headset has Kendall br's talking to you see a whole lot of uh backup quarterbacks waving their arms like madid on the sidelines maybe crisper longer play calls uh we' like to think that'll help the game and help the offense and defensive play callers first down to 10 right now and see at the 15 second Mark is when the helmet communication cuts off so the horn frogs break the Huddle at the 14 second Mark first down to 10 in motion into backfield Hoover takes a snap flips it right hand side saon 30 35 Williams Punch Out of Bounds at the 36 that's a first down to open the season for this frog offense they're going to Mark him at the 37 to 12 yd gain and you may see some Tempo now on the frogs it's a lovely play call to get sa on the ball in his hands a quick easy completion for Josh U and here we go off to the races first down and 10 one back in it's cam cook now for TCU the sophomore out of Round Rock played at Stony Point High School snap comes back Hoover gives to cook running to his left tries to turn it up field and maybe for a yard and that is all at the 38 yd line that offensive line for the hor frogs bless Harris at left tackle Colton Deary is the left guard he's a junor out of Glen Mills Pennsylvania the transferred from Maryland James brocky new edition transferred from Alabama played at for worth All Saints Carson Bruno out of ltech transferred and Mike Nichols from Justin Northwest at right tackle 65310 he's a senior second down to nine right now Hoover over the middle fires it in traffic caught Savon Midfield on his feet down to the 46 yd line of Stanford goes SE on Williams before Mitch lever brings him down and again already SE on two touches that one goes for 17 yds Qui completions easy completion for Josh Hoover quick touch it for Savon yep Hoover out of the shotgun again two receivers right one on the left hand side it's Williams in the slot left is the tight end Dabney they look that side throw it underneath catch made by Drake Dabney punched out of bounds to the 40 yd line it's a 5yd gain on that throw and catch Scotty Edwards on the tackle that time Dabney out of Cyprus transfer from Baylor big Target 65 255 high expectations for both he and Chase Curtis tight end this year for the frogs I am a tight end fan uh we used Jared Wy last year looking for the same for for Drake DAV he's a big body big Target for Josh Huber yes Kendall Bry loves the tight end wide right hand side now will come Jack bash in the slot right is JP Richardson wide left goes Blake now is Hoover under Center this time turn toss left running with the football is Cam cook cook will step out of bounds with a first down at the 34 four yard line he breaks out a one tackle actually they could to spot him backwards here say he stepped out at the 37 and it may have been with the left foot and it was that's a good spot nice job there by the ACC official we saw the right foot go out of bounds the left one hit the edge first and so frogs face a third down for the first time third down and two here at the 37 yd line of the Cardinal B to the left hash Bunch set left now will shift to the right hand side with B Richardson and now to that hand side they'll hand it off this time stf for a little run prits broken through by cill sidestep a Defender and take it inside the 30 to the 29 yd line that's a seveny gain of Elvis that is all cam cook Stanford had the perfect call on but he used his athleticism and quickness to avoid the defender yeah he can make paper Miss fellas there's you see that little jump cut but he also a little bit patience too I like it I like the way he kind of even set up that Defender fcks up the first first down you normally want to see running backs you get to one safety one corner and you have to beat him cam cook beat two guys in the hole gets the first down conversion first down at 10 now at the 30 yd line frogs this time out of the shotgun Hoover's got Savon in motion will throw the screen to him catches made he didn't get the block that he needed from JP JP Richardson was out there that's going to be no gain on that one and a nice job in the open field on that play by the corner that's Colin Wright here's a guy that you singled out Elvis he's a Tex out of Missouri City you said this guy is special I like him a lot he's really physical he's worked a lot on this game he said he watched a ton of film to get better and you look good there on that play making that tackle three receivers to the right hand side one to the left out of the shotgun Works Hoover one back in standing to the right of Josh is Cam cook ball to the left hash snap back Hoover looks left fired it out Savon three Defenders finally bring him down as he takes it inside the 25 to the 24 yd line that's a gain of five of the play so now you're facing third down and kin wri finally makes a tackle here at the 24 yd line of the Stanford Cardinal third down five what do you like here Marshall well I like that we took the opportunity to get half of that and make this IM man on third down sometimes it's third long to get out of hand bash comes wide right Richardson slot right Hoover pressured steps up into pocket needs a block on the edge and we'll get the first down inside the 19 or right at the 19 again he doesn't get a great spot here but I think it's enough for a first down just enough to the 19 yd line they cleared it out cam cook with a block on the edge for it absolutely and wuber not a guy you see with his legs and you think of using his legs but he escapes there feels the pressure knows where the first down marker is and saves his body by getting out of bounds I think some of that was because last year he was injured he played hurt all year and so they didn't want to run him and Hoover shows some ability there has started five of five throwing the football in this ball game Trey Sanders is in at running back now for camp three receivers come to the right hand side on first down and 10 and Josh to throw the football four down lineman over the middle catch is made Jack B leads down to the one yard line The Bash is going to set him up now first down and goal at the one Mitchell lber oh The Tackle that's a gain of 18 of the frogs work quickly now first and goal at the one three receivers to the right handed off to Sanders Sanders gets to the one and that is all line of scrimmage of that and that's where that big Pack's got to get in for you but a great job by Stanford defensively but you have that opportunity with Trey Sanders that's where you gotta count on it right after those explosive plays sometimes you do want to hurry up you catch the defense off guard that time the stford defensive front was ready they got a little penetration Stonewall the offensive line and the running back didn't have a whole lot of room to move I love that seed of a post right before that to get down in on the goal line to go let's see if they convert here yeah they do it with a guy in Jack bash Elvis who you think is going to have a breakout here he's a dog fellas mentally tough physically he's got everything you want in a guy like him cam cook is in the backfield now for the two yd line handed off to cam bounces out right trying to get to the edge Stanford in Pursuit they're going to race him down loss on the play here out of bounds all the way back to the see where they spot him down to the 6yd line that's where the forward front well I guess that's where the backward progress is at the 5 yd line so that's a loss of three on the play now you're looking at third down and goal from the five for the h frog you really want to see cam cook put his head down there and go get the touchdown he bounces a little too soon that's when this spe can catch up Scotty Edwards on the tackle there coming up from safety the junior out of Holiday Utah third down third and goal at the five for the horn frogs Hoover as cam cook in the backfield standing to his left two receivers to the left one right frogs trying to an of the early score for Stanford snap back for Hoover pressure for the edge throws it in the corner and he catches made touchdown Savon Williams able to haul it in his first one of the Year fifth catch of the drive for saon that connection's going to be big hit the horn here early on as the frogs answer the Stanford score it's now 76 feed Savon sounds like a 224 motto so far yes great throw by the way kind of a almost a back shoulder throw that time by the quarterback Hoover he knew he had to throw him open he did Savon out physical the quarter able to come up with that catch Kyle liberman out for the point after to tie this ball game up and he does so with a minute 16 to play in this opening quarter we're tied at seven TCU and Stanford here in Palo Alto more to come after this timeout and a word from the Moritz auto dealerships Moritz already you seeing Josh Hoover getting it done with his arm here leaves a fraud a scor D JP Richardson told us this guy's a complete package complete leader on the field for him he has guts we we love him I mean we we listen to him like when he's talking when he when he speaks up it's out of emotion it's out of passion he's a guy that everybody can rally to and so I think that's really important to have as you know quarterback yeah 13 plays 75 yards on that drive took 641 off the clock Josh Hoover was seven of seven for 62 yards on that drive and we talked about adversity these first games you just never know what you're going to get but how you respond to that long drawn out drive F the penalties can easily go three and out forcing things no he's taking little stick rout to Savon he's running with the ball converting uh first downs uh feeding the ball to cam cook that's a great drive that you'd like to see in answer to an opening touchdown drive by Stanford a DWI from drugs alcohol or edibles could cost you up to $177,000 drive sober or it's game over visit driveaware tx.org to learn how to improve driver behavior in north Texas that's driveaware nx. Elvis gagos is along the sidelines here for DNM leasing Elish these defensive coaches had some time to spend with that group after that opening drive that stford scored on what' you hear out of yeah I spent majority of the time of the lbs the linebackers and the safeties and again no Panic I think just going through like I said talking the tablets of just staying in your lanes being smart stay in disciplined I think they're okay I don't think anybody overreacted after that first drive leverman to kick it off now for the frogs fair catch signal for and made by Bryce frell and we'll see the Stanford offense now for the second time here in this quarter quarter that has flown by both teams with fairly extensive drives as far as time of possession 703 for Stanford and 641 for the horn frogs first touches now you get to see what those iPads maybe do or don't do you some adjustments to the first drive y I'm going to change you on one thing they went with the Microsoft surf excuse me brand history last meeting was back on December 28th of 2017 that was in the Alamo Dome the Alamo Bowl frogs win that one 3937 all right was the final now who kicked the game winning field goal in that you remember Mar I was jogging through my memory of course a very slow jog right and I could not for the I couldn't even come up with the first letter yeah how about Cole bunts 33 yd field goal with three minutes left to win it for the horn frog stations L balls 10 seconds for station identification here on the hor frog Sports network from learfield Lone Star 925 this is TCU football on kzps Dallas Fort Worth lonar 925 by the way it's the third alltime meeting between these a fourth alltime meeting frogs won the previous two that was a home and home set back when Jim harball was a head coach in Stanford frogs one here in Palo Alto 3836 and 07 then 314 and Fort Worth the following year first down and 10 now for the Cardinal tied at seven ball to the near hash they'll start this drive at their own 25 yd line with Michel Ford and at running back the Freshman out of Tom's River New Jersey play for the Mariners there right outside of the side here for Daniels to throw the football looks left dumps it underneath caught by the tight end turns it up field at the 30 out of bounds there after the 5 yard game that's Sam Rousch the junior out of Nashville and it's now getting him six officially we'll call it second down [Music] [Applause] four second down at four here from the 31 yd line two receivers to the right one to the left hand side one back in now that's Micah Ford remains out there for the Cardinal snap comes back handed off to Ford running left and nice job defensively horn frog snuff that one out Cooper McDonald there defensive end Cooper's an interesting story transfer from San Diego State started his career at Washington McDonald's a kid out of hassl you know that the frogs didn't get early but again you're going to see this for the transfer portal guys coming back home and you benefit from it here with mcon frock fans get used to that number 44 he's all with the defense foros thirdd down down third and three Standford two of two on third down both teams have been good on third down here early on Daniels this time rides it keeps it turns it up field and gets to right at the marker at the 35 I think he's going to be just shy that's Johnny Hodges with a Sho string tackle to Force fourth down now fourth and about a foot and decision time now for Troy Taylor and we're going to get a stoppage in play and see if they're going to view this or is that going to be the end of the quarter they're going to let it run out yeah they're going to talk it through during the quarter tied at seven a piece TCU and Stanford big fourth down play coming up here for this pros as we take a look at TCU players from around the NFL and with the NFL season set to open up next weekend seven players from last year's TCU team were in NFL Training Camps this summer joining 25 other former frogs who were buying for spots on NFL rosters among those seven newbies three of them made it past the final cutdowns and that includes former tight end Jared Wy who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs as well as quarterback Josh Newton who landed in Cincinnati with the Bengals the big prize from the TCU draft class this year though that's going to be big man Brandon Coleman who was selected in the third round of the draft by the Washington commanders the 6'6 320 pounder has been receiving rave reviews for his practice and preseason performances even taking the majority of the Reps as the team's starting left tackle meaning that he's going to be tasked with watching The Blind Side of the rookie quarterback and last year's Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU Jaden Daniels now we send it back out to Palo Alto California and the voice of the horn frogs Brian estrich thank you much Dave you you should see Marshall's face lining up you're talking about Brandon colan how about that there's a guy that we didn't know you didn't know if I mean he had the body to play in the NFL but the light has come on it sounds like in the uh in the camp for the Washington command just a great story of if you can do it that will find you yeah and I think he's even a value pick he might have he might have gone higher with what he's going to output for Washington so I think they got a great lineman he's versatile already Tough Enough you can tell first quarter numbers look like this Rog with 75 total yards of offense 62 through the air 13 on the ground five first downs Stanford through that first quarter had five first downs also 42 yards on the ground 18 through the year for 60 yards total offense fairly even here early on between these two teams with a tied at seven and it's fourth down now what do Stanford will like to do fourth down and about a foot and the Cardinal looks like they're going to go for it they bring in that running quarterback Justin Lamson Troy Taylor the play caller out of Sacramento State yep m a Ford in the backfield Lamson a real threat at quarterback look for the zone right here he takes the snaps going to keep it himself runs left and we'll get the first down across the 35 to the 36 it's a Kane of two Lambs Junior on alado Hills California's a transfer from Syracuse his dad played at a Washington state and in the NFL where the seahawks' mother was a 49 cheerleader his brother played at UCA Davis in the Canadian football leag just goty gr around football he was in for one play there to get the first down first down and goal now at the 36 for the Cardinal as Ashton Daniels excuse me first down in 10 I should say not go as Daniels this time pressured for the backside he'll go down inside the 30 at the 28 yard line guess who there he is Elvis gagos That's Cooper McDonald that defensive V out of hand I'm telling you he was my favorite player at fall Camp I mean the kid just plays hard he's got a great motor he's smart he's physical I think we're going to see a lot of great stuff out of 44 this year yeah second down at 17 after that loss on the play Donald a guy who had a great year at San Diego State as we talked about nice little rip move by McDonald there on the left tackle gets around the edge and finishes the sack finishes it yeah at three and a half sacks last year for the Aztecs second down down from the 29 yd line pressure up the middle again this time in Chase of Daniels rolls to his right avoids it throws it up field in traffic and it's caught at the 40 yd line nice grab there that's Jackson Harris who had the touchdown in the first quarter that goes for 11 yards and positive effort that time for the Cardinal Daniel does a nice job avoiding the pressure four wides back at five now as the tight end releases rolling right pressure again this time he just simply has to throw this one away first incompletion for either quarterback since first throw of the game here two plays ago when Ashton Daniels scrambles to the right if you're Marcus deal you've got to keep contained you brought pressure we got to him you cannot let him leak out to the right fourth and six now and this time Stanford will punt the defense does their job JP Richards is going to drop back deep to receive this one is Aiden flintoff will put it away that was a seven-play 15yd drive for Stanford Flint off sophomore out of Pacific Palisades to punt this one but a penalty marker first and I think Stanford may have moved ball start offense number 31 5 yard penalty fourth down it's funny how many times Sunny dy's talked about false starts in the fall and how much they drive you crazy early in the season and I don't want to see any false starts I don't want to see any false starts and we get our first one here from Stanford I mean it really is just a focus thing Co special team coach Mark tomall a little Bella chick in there with some shifting to elicit the false start by Sanford is that a word now is that officially I'm making it one stamp it I like it fourth down now fourth and 11 of course flintoff to punt it this time flintoff gets rid of it it's a good one high spiraling turns over Richardson 16 bobbl Picks It Up return left 20 25 JP takes a hit as he gets it to the 27 yd line penalty marker comes in during the return 4.37 on the hang time for f off that's a 50yd punt a 13 yd return let's see if it stands here with a penalty B throwing a return holding receiving team number 21 10yd penalty first down TCU timeout time out of the field here penalty against the horn frogs that's on bud Clark to keep up with live college sports be sure to download the free Varsity Network app available for both Apple and Android listen to college sports live Varsity Network app all right we talked to Elvis earlier about this defense listening in all out H Elvis give me some sense of the offense to get that scoring drive after possession of the football for the first time what were the offensive coaches stressing there when the defense was on the fiet you know Marshall may like this one I mean everybody was with the tablets but not coach Ricker he was calm and cool they talked through it no tablet needed it feel good so it's pretty good uh I like what I see from that group so far in this first half that offensive line has been one obviously has been reworked in the off season Marshall did you like what you saw I did they they've had good hands Good Feet so far a lot of the balls are getting out quick which is a help let them settle in a little bit we'll see if they lean on them in the Run game a little bit more moving forward or take some deeper shots down the field with Josh Marshall new house of course play the league did you get did you get 10 years in how many 11 11 don't sort me no 11 years in the NFL with us tonight lry Bine with a night off son playing his senior year of high school football they debut tonight against D guy first down of 10 for the horn frog offense at the 12 yd line BR for the football working right to left Jos who the quarterback that opening drive seven of seven 62 yards in a touchdown we have Cam cook back out there and running back hook touched it four times on that open drive for the [Applause] frogs the game the frogs utilizing the new system where they're not going to break out of the Huddle until less than 15 seconds remain on the play clock because at that point defensive coordinator can't talk to the players on the field for Stanford they don't see the formation yet snap comes back back Hoover going to hand it off this time right up the middle cook not much doing there interesting little counteraction with Drake Dabney there on the run a lot of creativity from brow so far in the Run game Alfredo iar on the tackle that time he's made a linebacker along with gan beridale gan I should say and Tristan Sinclair their best linebacker wears number eight second down of nine right now two receivers to the right one to the left hand side play action Hoover rolling right on the Run fires it out catches made first down and more JP slips out of a tackle ball popped out though stford has picked it up Cardinal with the football J Green's got it inside the 20 yd line and green is going to take it simply spot it down at the 20 it looks like so first and 10 for the Cardinal the first mistake of the Night comes with a fumble here JP Richardson fighting for extra yardage and the ball backed away just an unforced error from JB richond a guy you can count on be sure-handed when he's running the ball gets a little loose tries as you alluded to make a second move Stanford pops it loose and that's a big turnover in an enemy territory Mitch lever I think knocked it Loose from JP Richardson that's a guy Elis you and I talk about it all the time we we don't see him drop a ball in practice yeah you really don't I mean that's rare to see him make a mistake like that especially with three Defenders around him he's smarter than that I know he's going to be beating himself up for that first down to 10 to the 20 now for the Cardinal will opportunity here at the Frog Red Zone two receivers to the right one on the left hand side Cedric Irvin into backfield little reverse here pitch it back frog hav it bottled up they'll get him down nice job there defensively ishma CeCe all the reverse loses one it'll bring up second down to 11 as the Frog defense stays home and that's Chapman on the tack along with namb Oba obor on the tackle here's a snap back this time Daniels again rolling to his right bounces that one to his intended Target short to Harris and now Stanford looking at third down already You' love to see the TCU defense staying home that's the second end round reverse if you will that they stayed home on and got a tackle for loss great discipline there early in this game third down down third and 11 substitution so the frogs had a couple of linebackers in and now Johnny Hodes returns Stanford two of four on third down facing third down and 11 now the frogs 21 yd line two receivers right one to the left hand side Cedric Irving to The Back Field out of a shotgun Anders takes the snap gives it off Irvin Irv brings it 15 10 first down as he takes it inside the 10 of the8 Y nice play call there and a great run for Cedric Irving before Jam Johnson the safet able to make a tackle to gain of 13 first and goal now for the guard third long and unexpected Run play right there catches TC off guard you cannot allow that to happen and frog defense was expecting pass the whole way got sucked in a little delay handoff that time to Irving first down and goal at the eight out of the shotgun Works Daniels backst to either side of wi outs go to either side as well this time they're going to hand it off to Ford Ford trying to get to the edge and a nice open field tackle that time that's a pickup of one on the play but diving through there was Jamal Johnson again the safety we've called his name several times already tonight quick to recognize and get downhill he makes a a almost a touchdown saving tackle running back gets the edge there it might be in second and goal now at the eight for St for 1055 to play in the second quarter tied at seven three receivers to the right one back end now under Center is Daniels turn handed off right up the middle goes Irving and this time the frogs are able to bottle him up at the line of scrimmage at the 5 yd line and we third down now third down and goal at the five for the Cardinal working left to right here a little urgency on the defensive back field getting communicated and lined up those are the things in the new defense that you got to iron out his first games put the pressure on Third and goal at the five they bring in CC and wide receiver break the huddle with 18 all the play clock that gives Andy alelos some time to talk to his linebackers in the headset two receivers right one to the left hand side one back it's Irving standing to the right of the quarterback here Daniels out of the shotgun play clock winding down at three receiver in motion snap comes back Daniels hands it off Irving Irvin inside the three to the two that is all frogs had him stacked up just a gain of two and it's Fourth and goal now at the three and what a Stanford elect to do here Troy Taylor going to send out the field goal it looks like no they're going to bring out the other quarterback Justin Lamson we mentioned earlier SCH Taylor is the play caller he ran that play expecting to go out on fourth down is my my guess Cedric Irvin five yds deep in the back field fourth and goal at the two snap back lams him to throw it with time looks in the corner of the game Z fired it out catch is made touchdown stf ish CeCe hauls it in connection from lansom to Cece that's Lam first touchdown pass as a cardinal feels like a throwback to Old Stanford days they get in a big tight end set here on the goal line they run a play action pass with a deep cross complete touchdown by Lance the backup he can throw chanon Canada was in coverage CCE beating to the spot and a nice throw by Lamson Ken's out for the point actor to make this a seven-point lead now for staner 919 to play in the second quarter wesselman will hold it Warford to snap it back but snap this time holds down the kick is up and it is good Cardinal with the lead 14-7 Stanford over TCU 9919 left second this word barbasol a smooth close barbasol shave in the morning lifts your confidence that rich creamy leather will catapult you to Greatness nothing can stop you today well set off the clock CCE with the reception from lambon they took advantage of a turnover JP Richardson turned it over had the ball knocked loose after alling in a pass from Josh Hoover interestingly enough though on that drive they they work it down get third whatever it was goal at the five Marshall new has and they run the football on third down and then throw it on fourth down what do they think of that you see that with a lot of coordinators on offense and play callers is that in certain areas in the positive of field position they have it in their head hey if I get within this uh distance on third down I'm going to call it four down territory I'm going to use the third down as an extra down where I can run anything I want typically you see a pass on third down that allows him the flexibility to run they get a little bit but then fourth down is a down they were already considering Troy Taylor executing that so far yes Stanford's last two drives they run 14 plays they only have 30 yards to show for it took 615 off the clock which works right into their game plan they have a touchdown as part of it though great field position after the turnover em and Kenny now to kick it off for the Cardinal major everheart back deep for the horn frogs along with Trey Sanders for TCU you're the frog on offense you haven't they haven't done anything to stop you you turned the ball over you committed penalties offense you have a lot to look forward [Music] to Kenny to kick it from left to right now by the way it's a beautiful night here alter high end over end kick and it's going to be taken by Everhart at the three return to his left and not much there will not get to the 15 yd line the 13 and that is all slow developing turn that time first and 10 for the horn FS now at the 13 Elvis is along the side lines here at poo Alto all right Elvis your tcu's defense shanon Canada was in coverage on that last flow yeah you had a couple of injuries to Corners during fall practice should that be an area of concern for us quarterback SP I think so I mean you lose ay hel beron Glover was having good a lot of good spring good offseason workouts a lot of people were talking about him Channing just gets beat inside I don't think he's really as physical as I we were hoping for him to be he's got a lot of skill set but hey you got to give Troy Taylor the play calling has been really good this first half yes Cam cook in at running back play action to him ho over the middle fired and out behind as attended Target saon Williams he was hit as he let go of it that's the first incompletion of the nights for Josh Hoover he started eight for eight throwing the football and now it's second and 10 for the Frog at the 13 yd line play action a little pressure his face and he missfires behind saon he's got to dial it back in Hoover one back standing to his right two receivers to the left Hoover throws it in space left catch or right I should say catch made by Jack bash does a nice job turning it up F to getting a first down that was all bash there able to take it across the 25 to the 28 yd line it's a gain of 15 and now the frogs work with some Tempo Scotty Edwards on that last tack first and 10 for the 28 yd line Chains Get Set two receivers left one of the right hand side Hoover to throw it again over the middle of the fields get Space catches made this time by JP Richardson hauls it in at Midfield went up and brought it down in front of Mitch lever that's a gain of 22 and the FR for the move now up in the tempo here TC on offense trying to catch Stanford off guard and the the defense they like and the slot left is Richardson Savon goes wide to the left hand side bashes wide right first down and 10 snap comes back Hoover toay hand off cook coming back to the right at Midfield and up pended as he takes it inside the 45 and down to the 43 yd line Manley all the tackle and I think he's injured here Z Ron Manley a Claremont California up ended the runner now he's going to try to walk it off here he'll have to leave at least for one play he's a good player too at corner Zaron Manley training staff comes out to help him it's a second down now second and three unless we go to break and I think we are yes time out on the field 809 to go here in this second quarter 14-7 Stanford leads it back after this for the rail hit life too short to live important so we could just as easily be Starry lime lemon soda no that doesn't sound right oh I like it so you saying hip hop could be hop here works for me star lemon lime soda e that was one way to sort of alleviate the speed that they were going to see from GC high powered offense obviously they've done just that they're using multiple quarterbacks they're going for it on fourth down multiple times trying to keep the hands keep the ball in the hands of their offense out of TC yeah they're doing that to the tune of 13 minutes and 18 seconds in time of possession compared to just 833 for the horn frogs have the football now second down of three at the 43 yd line of the C after that misfire by Josh Hoover early in the drive he's been pinpoint offense has been moving prior to that injury clay Patterson has checked in along the defensive line Elvis for the Stanford Cardinal this is another Texan on this Stanford roster he's pretty good he's a transfer kid from y if I'm not mistaken two time all ivy league team I mean he I think he had 22 plus sacks there just another guy with just a high motor plays the game really hard so you know they don't get a whole lot of transfers here at Stanford they've had a couple and I think he's going to be a pretty good one yeah it's kind of hard to transfer in academically to Stanford but I guess from y it's possible yes playay Patterson played at 3y High School for the Lions two receivers to the left up in first goope here's cam cook in at running back STS to the right of Hoover snap comes back Hoover out of the gun hands it off C does a nice job reading his blocks finding a hole getting a first down takes it inside the 40 to the 37 yd line that's a pickup of six before Amari Porter makes a tackle not one but two tight ends on the field for the frogs right [Applause] now frogs with 50 yards on this drive on five plays Hoover they bring pressure at the middle sees it fires it man coverage right pass intented for Jack bash just a little too much on it at the 10 yd line Amari Porter was in coverage that time and Hoover a little high on that Thro as I mentioned tit end DJ Rogers and Drake Dabney on the field for two plays in a row uh offensive coordinator Kendall BRS loves loves to mix it up to get the big bodies on the that last play you think about it Elvis Jack bash kind of turned that one inside if he rides that sideline might have a better ankle yeah I was I was hugging that sideline just saying stay wide stay wide I think that's what Hoover was thinking he bent it in a little bit they were just off second down to 10 now at the 37 yd line two receivers left one right cam cook in the backfield out of the shotgun Works Josh Hoover pressure comes on the edge he fires to that spot it's incomplete just a little outside that time looking for major everheart are they going to give him the catch they gave him the catch but that looked like it bounced to everard but they call it as a completion and now the frogs have to work quickly here third down down third down at six after the four yd game got to go fast if you're TCU or if not they get a chance to look at this replay Hoover out of the gun third down and six Hoover over the middle TS it off to the tight end or make that now who makes a grab but it's not enough for a first down now goes down immedi imately just a 2yd gain and now Tristan Sinclair finally showing his wayers up linebacker out of Alo California makes that tackle it's fourth down at four Brocks are going to keep the offense out there that almost felt like a two down throw because you didn't throw it to the marker there you're in this great area called No Man's Land be the range kick here they go on fourth down fourth and four now le the offense out there bring everheart in motion across the formation Savon wide left Hoover out of the gun Play Clocks at seven snap comes back four down lineman they release one catch is made by cook at the edge Dives out it's going to be close I don't think he got there they're going to spot him down at the 28 pretty good effort for C cam cook but it's a yard short short of the line the game first down Stanford Stanford defense holds here and the offense takes over with a seven-point lead for the Cardinal that was a quasi screen one of the the 56 number B B Taylor Whitfield gets up on the screen in front of the running back they had receivers blocking downfield just can't convert on fourth down now the defense hasn't come right back out there after giving up that score on the last possession by Stanford trailing 14-7 is [Music] TCU the runner was short of the line gain the previous play is under further review yeah this review brought To Us by our Francis barbasol this close shave instant replay brought to you by barbacha barbasa shaving cream feeling great starts with a great shave and a great shave starts with barbas saw thick and Rich moisturizing La start your day off right with barbasol I I I don't know that this one was close enough to Warrant another [Music] look we got a chance to look at it here on replay Elvis might take all those last two throws you're at third down and you're at Fourth Down is I I I like to see you throw it to the marker neither neither one of those throws were there you know I was with y'all on third down wondering Hoover got rid of it a little too soon I thought he had a little bit more time I think if he gives it more time he may even have mallister for the first down but then you see that second play I'm not crazy about that play call too fellas zero coverage I I trust my skill wide receivers especially with the safety that was playing seven eight yards off I think major everard might have had a quick out for a first down well nonetheless the defense for Stanford holds here the horn frog offense walks away empty-handed it's first intent now for the Cardinal they took over their on 28 yd line with 542 to play here in the second and the football out of the shotgun Works Daniels with time throws it hit the back of the helmet of Johnny hoders picked off by time Mitchell Mitchell turning it up field Ty takes it down to the 21 of the hor get it right back Ty Mitchell the senior out of Nashville a transfer from Geor comes up with a pick and a 6yd return of thefrog offense we'll get right back out there Rumble big man Rumble Ty Mitchell with the hands and the return little move timely turnover by T and that ball just simply hit the back of the helmet of Johnny Hodes he got knocked down in coverage ball popped straight up Sam Rous was the intended target the tight end that was some little giant stuff right there yes it was but a nice job by tman Mitchell who has had a great fall by the way and now the frogs with great field position here this drive will start in the 22 the Cardinal best starting field position by some 53 yards here for TCU first down to 10 at the 22 yd line of Stanford offense right back out there cam cook stands to the left of ho the quarterback two receivers right one to the left hand side comes Savon out of the shotgun this time Hoover to throw the football one on one Savon up the middle catch is made at the 12 yd line alen right in coverage giveing him 11 on the reception and a penalty comes in here late helmet ripped off by a Stanford Cardinal yeah there's a frog rolling around out there without a helmet on and that's davney the tight end there's a penalty marker here Sunny dyes is out on the field want to talk to this ACC officiating crew let's get the explanation what went down after after the play on Sportsman L conduct Stanford number 23 his first of the game after distance and a goal penalty first down number nine TCU does not have to leave the game since the foul was why his helmet came off there you go that's David Bailey the guilty party that seems like just a penalty but Brian let me tell you why I like that that's Feist that's finished by Drake dney and not only that Right Guard Carson Bruno came to his defense these guys seem to be playing for each other right now and how about the throw and catch to Sav On boy I would have loved to have seen that on the last driv absolutely when you're facing third and fourth down get it to the big fell Savon let him find the marker first down and goal now for TCU at the 5 yd line TCU will take their time with the play clock wind it out under 15 now all right so the communication has stopped between the d-coordinator and the defensive play caller so now you've got an opportunity here show him a look offensively first and call for the five Hoover takes the snap play action throws in the corner of the end zone too much through that one away and that time it's going to fall incomplete and bring up second down that was a little run pass option was it not Elvis I mean that was an opportunity for Hoover to yep he was he was reading 32 he's reading the Deep safety and I thought it looked the safety did a great job by the way of coming inside and then getting out of there and double team sa on and that's why that quick slant wasn't there second down now second and six two receivers to the left one to the right right hand side really second and five I should say second down and goal at the five one back in for C play action again Hoover this time slant Savon spins down to the four he bobbled it on the reception Colin right on the tackle that's a pick up of one so now third down and goal of four for the frogs down 14-7 here with 437 to play in the second these last two pass plays have felt rushed by Josh Hoover not really giv saon a chance to get open see what they do on third down [Applause] Hoover that's an extra tight end to the left along with jab is Chase Curtis slide Chase and motion across the formation Hoover rolls to that side pressure throws it up too high for Curtis Chase was open at the goal line Hoover on the run though had to throw that one off balance and the Frog are going to have to settle for three here with 411 to play in the second this Kindle brows offense doesn't get under Center much when they do you know something interesting is coming they do a little roll out play action he's open late Josh Hoover just overthrows [Music] him Josh needed a Little Help from Dominique Johnson the running back blocking on that PL didn't get it 22 yard effort now for Kyle liberman his first field goal attempt as a college kicker is good just inside the left ight barely okay that's over with Kyle that's your first one you know he made it that's what matters right it was being held by the way by Ethan crawl that's the first time he's held one in a college game the Australian punter for the horn frogs L of first yes and it's over with so now it gets better 409 to play frogs within four now 14- 10 Stanford leads it [Music] here Stanford of course the Cardinal headed to the ACCC it sounds odd we're here on the Pacific coast now part of the Atlantic Coast Conference they will travel over 21,000 miles this year for Road football games they get points for that yeah exactly all of a sudden they're Platinum members right all of them yeah 21,000 miles they will travel compare that same number of Road Games Horn frogs will travel 7600 miles Oklahoma State traveling to the same amount of road games will travel for 4,380 Miles Stanford 2120 seven and if you're thinking to yourself well who has to travel the most in the Big 12 is West Virginia 11,137 yards of travel this year BRS to kick it off now from right to left Li end over endend kick that will sell into the end zone Bryce farell watches it roll out of the back and now Stanford's offense trots back out there 409 to go frog scoring drive that sees them get within four five plays 18 yards 122 off the clock after that first quarter creeping away this game has slowed down a little bit four minutes left in the half this defense from TCU needs to stop here get the ball in their offens hands one more time before the half would your child get sick you'll do everything you can to get the care they need to cook children they've got locations across North Texas to make findy care as easy as possible find an Octor near you at cookchildrens.org Daniels back out there quarterback he let him on an 89 yd scoring drive to open this ball game since then they've had three drives and just 30 yds pressured this time throws it over the middle of the field and it's caught the 40 yd line across the 45 the 46 nice job there that's iio Manor a terrific wide receiver the sophomore out of Canada for 21 yards desperation throw it converts for him first down of 10 forward in the backfield gets a hand off this time Mel Ford running left and will take it across Midfield and across the 45 on his feet and down to the 42 that's a 12 yd gain so 21 on first down 12 on second and all of a sudden the [Music] Cardinal the Cardinal are down to the 42 yd line of the fron Obi eor has to come into the lineup Max Carol in that linebacker first down and 10 handed off again Micah Ford this time running right there's Johnny Dodgers two yd gain the 40 those first two explosives you see Troy Taylor seeing some miscommunication some late communication on this tcq defense stressing their communication skills in the back end second down now second and eight for Stanford 318 to play in the half they lead it 14 to 10 Obi eyesore lost his helmet got a bloody nose as well on the sideline we're being told Jam Johnson with six tackles along with Johnny Hodes who made that last one who's got six as well second down at eight now Urban in the backfield snap comes back Daniels to keep finds the scene 3530 on his feet outside of the 2520 down to the 19 Y Line of the hor front Ashton Daniels finally brought down by lamarian Jon James I should say that's a 20 yard gain down to the 20 this is a guy now if you think about it we were told Justin lamson's the runner Justin lamson's the runner well Ash Danger's done a pretty good job running himself at quarterback nothing fancy about that it's just the lead draw QB draw D us his legs again making TCU pay on the edges eight carries 59 yards now for ash Daniels quarterback first down to 10 of the 20 Cedric Irving back in at running back stands to the left two receivers right one on the left hand side now man a motion across the formation penalty marker here before this play gets off see if Stanford left early number 76 5yd penalty first down that's Jack lay who is in at left guard for Jake Micha that's the second FSE start of this game for the Cardinal first down now and 15 to the 25 and I think Stanford is going to let this thing roll down to the new two-minute warning in college football and they will down to 205 it's loock runs a little extra time to visit here to the two-minute warning of the first half we go Stanford leads at 14 to 10 on the horn frogs and threatening again they'll have it first and 15 at the Frog 25 we get back after this local timeout of the horn frog Sports network from learfield look at your cup holder it's empty and you're feeling thirsty head to a nearby convenience store and fill it with a Pepsi Z brought you in part by Texas h they're here to help every fan be their healthy as self no matter their stage of Life learn more at texashealth.org TCU first and 15 up coming up now for Stanford at the Frog 25 they lead it right now to the Cardinal 14-1 on the horn frogs we got to go back to October of 2022 the last time stford on a home game that's quite a long time it is frogs have run the football nine times thr it for 19 Stanford has run it for 22 times and thrown it 10 times I tell you little bit difference of philosophy here offensively now part of that is ashon Daniels in his feet he's been flushed out of the pocket a few times runs QB runs have killed they've been third down conversions they've been explosive gains he's got 59 of their 92 rushing yards does Ashton Dan by the way school's not in session here at St that does not happen until like the 28th of September they're only the quarter system where Al and apparently are still celebrating the 39 medals they won in the Paris Olympics that's right they won 39 medals as a school would have been like seventh best in the country C more than Canada Sovereign Nation of Stanford [Music] exactly good for them though first and 15 now here at the two-minute warning Cardinal will have the football fairly uh long two-minute war that will teach us what we can do in the future I'll just be honest with you we can we can do some other stuff here this is this is an interesting space for Coach Troy Taylor and play caller Troy Taylor you got two minutes you don't want to give TCU too much time but you want to score in some kind of way uh you might be aggressive again it's worked for you so far on fourth down uh you've got a lot of options here and now you've got a second quarterback that scored you a touchdown already a quarterback a starting quarterback who's beat TCU defense with his legs a lot of options working for t St car yeah and he's said two minutes left as you mentioned he doesn't want to score too quickly here he want want to leave TC any anything left to a degree yes yeah he also got two timeouts remaining right out to either side tied into the right in this formation two backst to either side of Daniels out of the shotgun he works on first down at 15 snap comes back to throw it fade right Looking In The End Zone throw is incomplete pretty good coverage there for the horn frogs pass intended for CeCe oh Jackson Harris excuse me I thought that was 83 or 84 was 83 Jackson Harris the intended target that's just tra BR with a good coverage there to Second down now second 15 so much for not trying to score too quickly throws that one in the endone first down another good rep by Travis Broughton he's right there up in the jersey of 83 legal tough physical cornerback play here the boirs here the few that have made it out to the far today not like that call second down now 15 from the 25 handed off four reverses out takes it to the left hand side across the 18 to the 17 yd line laran James on the tackle and a timeout taken here by TCU with a minute 45 to go it's an eight yd gain frogs had three timeouts use their first one there [Music] timeout third down now third and eight up coming for the Cardinal at the 17 yd line I like this timeout though taken by Sunny dkes saves you a little bit middle of the back end minute 46 to play in the hand right on the flip side of Troy Taylor trying to take time and score uh TCU is trying to save as much time now with the two-minute warning gone you're out of you're out of an an extra timeout right time tonight's game brought to you at Park like Progressive Insurance looking for a career path with flexibility and great pay and benefits go to progressive.com SLC careers and apply online offense back out there Cedric Irvin will be in at running back two receivers to the right hand side I maner comes wide right keep an eye on him two receivers left as well out of the shotgun Works Daniels frog show pressure for the edge Daniels pumps with his shoulders fires it back shoulder and it's incomplete pass intended again for Jackson Harris that was James again in coverage at its fourth down now we talked about Corners before this game both to Travis Bron and L Marian James with very tight coverage and critical Mo moments in this game yeah those two have been good it's when chanon Canada was out there the frogs have struggled a bit and EV Kenny now for the field goal attempt here this one will be a 35 yd effort to get the lead back to seven for Stanford for the left hash wesselman gets it down after the snap the kick is long enough and it is good H and Kenny knocks it home for 35 yds out Stanford back up now 17 tanel the horron who will have the football with a minute 37 remaining and two timeouts in their back pocket yeah almost Elvis I think count that as a win for this defense what do you think I think so the way things have gone this first half but you kept them out of the end zone and I think give your offense what a minute 37 left to put some points on the board just hasn't been the best first half we talked about keys of the game right fellas being disciplined I think you know Red Zone they turn the ball over they just can't they're struggling to get go going as a unit as a group as a team and so hopefully the offense can get some do something here to get momentum back I mean you got to think right just down one possession yep as bad as you played in the first half you're going to be all right yeah you're defense had a few penalties that kept drives alive but it resulted in scores for Stanford you turn it over you mentioned all the JP Richardson fumble but then defense was able to come up with a you know recovery of their own on an interception emit Kenny now to kick it off frogs get the football to start the second half too remember as everheart goes to a knee here after this one two yards deep so the offense out there with a minute 37 and two timeouts to see what Josh Hoover can do as kend Browns offense kind of made for these [Music] situations Hoover 15 of 19 throwing the football 138 and a touchdown Savon was his number one target early on seven catches already 51 yards and a score for Williams he'll come wide on the left hand side dby the tight end will be in the slot right along with Richardson and Bash cam Cooks the running back stands to the right of Hoover first and 10 now they work right to left B the left hand snaap back Hoover quickly gets rid of it Dabney makes the catch turns it up field and gets to the 33 yd line that's actually DJ Rogers not damy my bad that is Rogers and at tight end he makes that reception for eight Hoover is hooked up with eight different receivers this time hands it off cook trying to get the first down and he's not going to stays in bounds too knocked down to the 32 yd line Tristan Sinclair great tackle there for that terrific linebacker now you're facing third down and two with a minute five to play and the clock [Applause] runs third and two at the 33 Stanford rushes three Hoover throws it Savon makes the grab turns it up field for more across the Midfield strike that's a 17 yd reception as Savon comes up with another big catch of first down stops the clock for a second here Colin rle The Tackle first and 10 now at Midfield clock starts with 43 seconds to play five wide three to the right two to the left hand side snap back Hoover three down linan come Hoover with time deep ball middle of the Field's got a man Breaking Free Inside the Fire to the four Jack B with a 36 yd reception 46 I should say Jay green was in coverage first and goal at the four now with 29 seconds to work with you get two timeouts in your pocket as well still cury you got to get set the clock restarts when the chains move 23 seconds to play two receivers right one to the left hand side Boer one back in snap back this time Josh fumbled it loose on the ground picked up by Stanford The Exchange on the mesh between Hoover and cook was bad for the beginning it ends up on the ground and the Cardinal come up with a loose ball here frog had two timeouts in their pocket Elvis and I am shocked that they didn't take one there yeah me too I was wondering I'm looking at the sideline Wonder with two when were they going to take it take their time and get the play out there Hoover was trying to give it to cook but cook just I guess never felt it in his belly he never took it so a lot of disappointment right there it's a big let down you you want those meshes to defer to the quarterback either giving it or taking it it looks like Ken Cook wasn't in in step and mesh with Josh Hoover a fumble in a crucial crucial situation Stanford gets it now at their own six yd line they can run out this first half clock with a seven-point lead 17-1 13 seconds left in this half they'll get that Victory formation and Angel will take the snap and go to a knee so Sunny D's team will go to the locker room to seven they'll get the football though to start this second half Elvis skagos is going to catch up with the head man here shortly in a visit that's brought To Us by our friends at DNM leing as the frogs make their way to the locker room Elvis trying to run down coach right now and here he is for the coach right now coach your thoughts on this first half well kind of everything that could go wrong has gone wrong um but like the way we're playing we just gota you know not bail him out on third down we had him stop three times on third down at first drive and let him off the hook and penalties and then obviously two turnovers have heard this thing got down inside the Red Zone twice hadn't scored so it's got to improve that obviously thank you coach at Sunny Dykes with Elvis gyos brought to by brought To Us by break in favor of the Cardinal at after the horn frogs committ a couple of key turnovers and some untimely penalties allowing Stanford to get off to a good start in this one and take that seven-point Advantage into the locker room Dave shook with you here inside the Merit Studios as we welcome you into the Frost Bank halftime report Frost Bank a proud sponsor of TCU athletics where Frost believes that you don't have to bank with us to matter to us Bankers available 247 to answer your financial questions it was an ominous start as we mentioned in this one for the frogs the Stanford elected to receive after winning the coin toss and despite putting the card well behind the sticks on multiple occasions the Frog defense committed three penalties for 45 yards that allowed the Cardinal to March down the field for a 13pl 89 yd drive then ended with a short three- yard touchdown pass from Ashton Daniels to go up Seven to nothing about Midway through that opening quarter frogs though would answer right back as Josh Hoover on his first series of the Season found all reliable Savon Williams five times on a 13pl 75 yd drive that ended in the first touchdown of the season on a key third and goal third down third and goal five the hor Tu as cook the backfield standing to his left two receivers to the left one right trying to answer the early score for Stanford snap back for ho pressure for the edge throws it in the corner and he catches made touchdown Savon Williams able to haul it in his first one of the Year fifth catch of the drive for Savon that connection's going to be big hit the horn here early on as surpr answer the Stanford scores now 76 game with States tied at seven as we entered the second quarter but that's where the frogs offense would make its first critical mistake as JP Richardson would cough up the football fighting for extra yardage after a completion from Josh Hoover that set the Cardinal up inside the TCU 25 and then facing a fourth and goal from the two yard line backup quarterback Justin Lamson found ishmail cisa streaking across the back of the end zone giving Stanford a 14-7 lead with nine minutes to play in the opening half insing drive for the frogs with sputter on a fourth and short inside the Stanford 35 but the Frog defense would come up with their first big play of the night as big man tman Mitchell would come up with an interception off a deflected pass that allowed the frogs to creep closer after a short field goal from Kyle lemmerman to make it 14-10 gner would answer with a field goal of their own moments later make it 17-10 and then the frogs look to be on the verge of tying the game at the end of the half following a 46-yard pass from Josh Hoover to Jack bash put the frogs on the doorstep of the end zone but a miscommunication on the ensuing snap led to the second turnover of the half for TCU keeping the game at 17-10 as we reach the end of the opening 30 minutes so that's our halftime rewind from here inside the Merit Studios against 17 to10 is the score at the break between the frogs and the Cardinal we'll take a time out here on the Frost Bank halftime report when we come back we'll take a one as we welcome you back inside the Marin Studios taking a look at all the first half numbers starting first with TCU on the team side 233 total yards including 209 in the air coming from quarterback Josh Huber who completed 18 of 22 passes for those 209 yards including one touchdown rushing has been an issue though in this one as the frogs have really struggle to run the football just 24 yards averaging 2.2 yards per carry thus far in the football game third Down's been good though four for six over one on fourth down though that was a critical one inside Stanford territory and another big number to look at is the penalties where the horn frogs have committed four of them for 55 yards three of those coming on the opening drive that allowed the Cardinal to get that opening touchdown of the football game also turned the ball over twice leading to seven points for Stanford while possessing the ball just 13 minutes and 40 seconds in that opening half on the other side for Stanford only 152 total yards in the ball game including 52 through the air 100 on the ground where they're doing a nice job of moving the football right now averaging 4.3 yards per carry just three of seven on third down but two for two on fourth down in the game are the Cardinals have only committed four penalties for six yards in the ball game while turning the ball over just once leading to three points for TCU and again possess the ball for the majority of that first half 16 minutes and 20 seconds to 1340 for TCU individual numbers to look at in this one mention Josh Hoover 209 yards in the air including a touchdown cam cook the leading rusher has 22 of the 24 yards on the ground for TCU in this one saon Williams doing the majority of the work through the air for TCU eight catches 68 yards and a score while Johnny Hodes continues to grind out things defensively for TCU with six tackles including one behind the line of scrimmage in that opening half on the other side for the Cardinal Ashton Daniels doing a little bit bit of everything in this one five of 11 throwing the football for 50 yards and a touchdown including an interception as well and then also the leading rusher in the ball game eight carries for 59 yards so that's a look at some of the numbers in this first half here inside the Merit Studios we'll take another timeout and when we come back we'll go Sooners threw for four touchdowns in the win for U couple of interesting games in the Big 10 today though as Wisconsin had to Rally past Western Michigan 28-4 was the final score in that one after lead on with impact second half kickoff is minutes away but first a preview of the halftime adjustments made by coach Sunny Dyson staff with our exclusive locker room report Elvis is back in the building all right guys a little bit of what maybe we would expect in that locker room from the offens side really calm cool nobody overreacting the message was hey calm down let's set in and let's clean it up a little bit not a whole lot of chatter on the defensive side yeah a little bit more amped up there coach oo's getting after the boys a little bit high intensity talking about opportunities opportunities also a group that need to settle down he really focused on pre-nap communication that was one key thing that he talked about the second piece especially with the guys up front you're called to go on any Blitz don't hesitate let's get after it so it was a little bit different vibes from each side of the ball fellas back to y'all all right here at halftime the HFS find themselves down at 17 to 10 they will get the football to start the second half Marshall if you want to look for positives in that first half obviously one of those is the fact that you didn't have any penalties offensively you didn't have to punt offensively but you got to make up for two turnovers offensively and that can be difficult to do yeah and and when they got the ball in Savon Williams hands it seemed like good things happened and then when they went away from him I couldn't figure out the the thought process there and then yeah they killed themselves with just ball handling which is stuff you don't see from JP Richardson and Josh Huber if they clean that up they were moving the ball all quarter when they got a chance to get the ball in their hands Stanford doing a really good job with time of possession but TCU has the opportunity right in front of them to put a stamp on this season yeah this is Stanford's first halftime lead by the way since a 10 to7 advantage over Arizona back on September the 23rd of 2023 in the last eight games of last season Stanford was outscored in first half's 16 6- 51 now part of that is an improved offensive line that they focused on you know and and you got the feet of Daniels the quarterback with some weapons but to me it's all about that offensive line for them right now yeah they've got Jack lar who's taking over at left tackle for Luke mlinko Y and they're protecting Ashton Daniels as best he can he's making the rest happen with his legs 233 total offense in that first half for TCU 151 for Stanford time of possession Cardinal have it for nearly three minutes longer than the horn frog Hoover was 18 of 22 for 209 and a score Savon with eight catches 68 yards he caught that touchdown let's see if those two can connect here early on to start this second half R will have the football they'll return from left to right to start the second EMT Kenny will kick it off for the Cardinal wearing all red for the first time since 2011 major everheart is back deep for the horn frogs along with Trey Sanders everheart this time's going to bring it out at the five at the 10 splits two guys at the 15 yard line bounces it out left and then falls down to the 20 and I'm not so sure if everheart might have taken a finger to the eye or something I mean fell down at the 20 very awkward and he is down at the 20 yard line he he had broken through two Defenders and you can see him slow down and then fall down at the 20 really before he was tackled are we looking at edber Burton groin shot or is that a hand thing that's a great question he's down at the 20 being helped off by David Gable in staff now it's like they hit a button he shut down he's okay I think he already may have taken a shot to the mid section there so the spot him down to the 19 yd line that's where the Frog offense will open up this second half down 17-10 here to open up the second the offensive line of bless Harris at left tackle Colton der at left guard James brocka Meer at Center Carson Bruno at Right Guard Mike Nichols at right tackle I thought did okay in the first half yeah Mike Nichols got knocked back a couple times but overall he held his own uh again we talked about establishing the run I think we need to see more of that from this offensive line all right Hoover breaks him out now and'll have one back into the right that's Cam cook standing to his right three receivers to that side of the field they hand it off to cook cook turns it up field across the 21 to the 22 yd line give him two on that first down carry it'll bring up second down and eight now for the horn frogs and wide receiver we've seen Jack bash we've seen JP Richardson and seon Williams those three are out there right now bash comes wide right Richardson in the slot left wide left goes Savon one tight end blocking as Hoover brings it down at fir left- hand side catch made by Savon at the 26 trying to turn it up field they're going to give great spot here to the 28 yd line it's going to be a pickup of seven before toiti wraps them up and it'll bring up third down now and short that front for Stanford Tobin Phillips Braden marsu ala Ina Anthony Franklin and David Bailey across the front hos in right now at quarterback so a quick change here on third down and one they've got a package for hos a true freshman out of Alo he's a terrific Runner frog will Sprint to the line of scrimmage with 11 on the play clock frogs four of six on third down snap comes give to the fullback right up the middle and he got it to the 30 yd line that's Dominique Johnson the transfer from Arkansas in at fullback got the hand off from Haiti and he'll get the first down to the 30 yd line ay not coming off the field is going to be on for a second play in a row how about that the Freshman out of Alo is dad of course Jesse play along the defensive front here for TC's mother Jim Anne was a women's basketball player as well first and 10 Haiti flushed out rolls to his right he's going to tuck it under makes one man miss turns it across the 35 and on his feet to the 38 ydd line nice run there for hos Haney as that play broke down he finds a way to get eight and it'll bring up now second down and short for the horn frogs at the 38 yd line and hay stays out there at quarterback give Stanford a little taste their own medicine a change of pace Maybe give this TCU offense a little spark and this was planned folks we talked to Coach knes about that he he's got a package for hos really a set of plays for hos Haney he wants to see him Master those and let's see if he can have some success second and two now at the 38 yd line snap comes back Haney rips it away keeps it himself turns it up field trying to fight to the line of scrimmage on that song may have lost a yard on the play going to bring up third down now bernadel on the tackle with a linebacker out of Miami transfer from Florida International third H out third and three frogs have not faced third and long fact third six might have been the longest one they faced Tonight third down at three Here and Now Hoover checks in late as hosy checks out I like this third down at three Richardson comes in as well Dominic Johnson goes out so they get away from the bigger package spread the field frogs have Beed 27 yds on eight third down attempts pretty good number third down to three here snap Hoover looks sets over the middle catch made Richardson first down takes it into Stanford territory down to the 46 yd line late flag at the end Jay green finally makes a tackle that's a 17 yd gain but let's check the flag back at the 30 and this Elvis might be on the center James brockmire let's see here's the official after the play personal foul unnecessary roughness offense number 52 that's a 15yd penalty the line of game was made it will be first and 10 first penalty charge on the offense I just watched the replay guys I hate that call okay why James brockmire has a double under on the nose he's getting bull rushed he just finishes the play he finishes the pass protection but you know one of the things you that happens here Elvis is that defensive lineman knows what the officials seeing and he was able to sell it there yeah I mean Marshall's right I don't like the call either but that defensive linan threw his hands up throws himself down sold it well and got the call all right so it's still the first down so they walk it all first down now at the 39 so it was after the play The Line to gain was made first and 10 of the 39 yd line for the horn FR so doesn't just Crush you two receivers to the left one on the right hand side bash is wide right one back stands to the left of Hoover now play Clocks at seven out of the shotgun Works Josh Hoover snap comes back Hoover looks left now over the middle sex fires behind Savon and Sam and find a little found a little hole in that zone at about the 43 yd line and the strike from Hoover just a little behind him it'll bring up second out of 10 you mentioned him a couple plays ago Mike Nicholls with a little more push back than you're wanting you need his weight to sit down on the end of these rushes on the bull rush Nicholls starting at tackle here at right tackle that breaks a string of five straight completion hand off this time to cook cook working his way in traffic across the 45 to the 47 yd line that's a pick up of eight again a manageable third down of two up coming for the horn frogs here did they just need hos ha to get in there and just let him get behind their pads y him what time it was third down of two now at the 47 official two receivers to the left Richardson out of the back field screen to him left needs a block from Curtis gets it and gets a first down across Midfield breaking tackles inside the 45 and down to the 43 yd line he just needed Chase to rub that guy he got enough from Curtis to cut an off off of his inside shoulder for the first half Chas Cur gets a little push back but JP makes him right protects the ball after this first half turn over that's a 10 yd gain of the first down now for the hor frogs down to the 43 yd line of Stanford opening drive of the second half Stanford leads it 17 to 10 brought to the football here in the second and all the move like now goes wide to the left hand side Trey Sanders into the backfield now stands to the left of the quarterback Tre Sanders gets a carry Trey Stutter Steps working it inside the 40 35 fumble the football been picked up by Jack bash bash has it now for TCU inside the 25 and down to the 24 yd line what a lucky bounce there as Sanders loses the handle on it and it bounced right up to Jack bash so Sanders gain 12 bash picks up seven it ends up being a 19 yd gain to the 24 yd line first and 10 for the Frog explosive game but the ball security is becoming an issue this keep happening but you got to be living right the frogs have done that now first down of 10 with a lucky bounce there to B first and 10 of the 24 yd line two receivers to the left hand side cam cook in backfield Eric mallister is in for the first time wide right to throw the football as Hoover sidearms it incomplete underneath that pass was intended for the tight end Drake Dabney and Elvis I'm going to be honest with you that looked like that was supposed to go to Dabney the whole time because the re receivers were blocking down field yeah I think that's all Hoover I don't know if he just kind of hesitated there cuz he saw the defender didn't want to throw it couldn't make up his mind but defense was all over that play second down now second and 10 to the 24 yd line now what comes wide rank B in the slot right Hoover out of the shotgun looks and flips behind his Target at the 20 yd line he was looking for p in backto back incompletions for the first time here in this game for Josh Hoover now you're third down and 10 here that's a free three yard just an unforced misfire that makes those third and shorts we've been experiencing all night a third and long Hoover was top 10 in the Metroplex as a High School pitcher at rock wall Heath in strikeouts he needs a strike here Sanders stands to the right of Josh U great receivers to the left frogs maybe changing the play Clocks at eight Hoover in the pocket slides up sets fires left drop that pass ATT tender for seon of the 18 yd line he was wanting to go over the middle of the field I think Elvis where JP Richardson was working but he checked back down to Savon that play I think it was the right check down Savon was just trying to run you know before he caught the ball this terrible way to end this drive hope at least they get three here lemmerman back out the Freshman 42 yd effort Easton Black will hold it now High snap hold is down here's liberman from 42 yards out and liberman Nails it the Freshman two for two in his young career gets the frogs on the board here with 911 to play in this third quarter TCU needed that the horr with a core now stford 1713 Brian es Marshall new house Elvis gagos along the sidelines our spotter today is Wayne gos statistician Brian SP producer engineer is Kyle cross da Shooks back in the Studios Sarge has the con for this one Lord fronks strike here in this second half on the opening drive of the second on a 14 play drive that took 549 off the clock 57 yd drive that ends with a 42 yd field goal from the Freshman Kyle liberman is second of the game and now it's 17713 Stanford I tell you what and and we said earlier in the first half on the Frog defense held Stanford the three okay that's a win that felt like a win there that one doesn't feel like a win for tcu's offense it felt like they had some Rhythm some momentum move of the football and it kind of stalled out there once he got it the stord and again it's the TCU on errors stubbing their own token in the way Stanford's just content letting them do what they need to do saon Williams drops the ball Hoover missfires these are TCU uh mistakes that are cing them points yeah those are siws too self inflicted wounds yeah but by the way this is an experienced Stanford team they returned 19 of 22 starters from last year 85% of their production from last year returns 90% of it on offense 81% on defense so this is a group that's been there done that they haven't had a ton of success the last two years but they have a lot of snaps liberman to kick it off does so from left to right now back deep stands frell and he'll go to a knee in the end zone five yds deep and we'll see Stanford's offense for the first time here in this second half after posting 144 yards in that first half led by the feet of Ashton Daniels really the quarterback eight carries for 63 yards also threw for another 50 and a score in the first half for the [Music] Cardinal they leaded 17713 you guys are bragging on the play call in here and that first first half from Troy Taylor there's a history of that at Stanford we'll talk about that as the uh night goes on three receivers to the right two to the left hand side now Ashton Daniels a junior out of Buford Georgia operating out of the shotgun Levi Rogers will snap it back to him his fifth year senior at center for the 25 yd line this drive starts with a Daniels Run tries to bounce it out right avoids one tackler in the second into the second level he goes 40 and then across Midfield before he's upended up near the 46 yd line by Jamal Johnson a 25 yd carry 29 yd carry to start the second hand contained contained contained they had him bottled in on the QB draw we get washed down and he bounces outside for an explosive first and 10 now at the 46 yd line Cedric Irving in at running back stands to the left of the quarterback Daniels four WIS two to either side now for the quarterback Daniels taking his time checking the play at the sideline out of the gun he works snap comes back keeps it same play this time though the result much better for the Frog defense wrapped up in the line of scrimmage Cooper McDonald the defensive end there to make the stop for TCU to bring up second down and 10 we talked about play calling Troy Taylor the offensive coordinator and head coach here pretty good Legacy at Stanford names like oh I don't know Bill Walsh not bad huh Jim harball not bad got him jack Elway of these guys yeah pretty good uh run here even Denny green back of the day second down and 10 from the 46 yd line of TCU pump fake Daniels hit as he lets go of it fires it deep left good coverage there for the horn frogs no penalty that's just man on man and a Travis Bron there to step in front of Jackson haris knock it away it'll bring up third down now third and 10 to Travis Bron again he's in the hit pocket of these receivers he's being patient waiting till the ball's in the air until the receiver locates the ball with his eyes he's fighting through the balls but are taught and you know Elvis Elvis I'm thinking you know Sunny dyes we asked him this week hey are you worried about Corner because he lost the two guys to injury and he and he to he said I'm not worried about the two starters and I see why now I think it's just more concern on the depth side but yeah you look at these two guys I mean I've been very impressed with L Maran James as well yeah third and 10 Daniel sets and fires left at the 40 short of the line to gain and again there's Bron wrapping up the receiver immediately that's I am Manor and that's a gain of six and now fourth and four what a Stanford do here at the 40 yd line of the frogs this is that no man's land but Troy Taylor has got a really good feel for this game he's right there on the sideline with his play sheet Stanford looks like they're going to go for it yeah and one this team won three games last year set the tone early right Cedric Irving into backfield trying to draw off for the hard count is Ashton Daniels for fourth down and four here snap comes back Daniels looks right pressured now flushed out rolling to his right time and Mitchell and Chase sets his feet throws across his body in traffic and it's knocked away incomplete por frogs let that one hit TCU will take over now at the 40 yd line defense gets the stop they needed the thing we talked about in the first half was lack of discipline TCU stays they call it plastered when the quarterback scrambles like this the DB stay plastered on their man they cover him through the end of the play a nice stop for Chu on fourth down they get the ball back here they go yeah play got busted a little bit there were three receivers kind of bunched together and that brought about five Defenders with him and he just threw it up saying okay somebody grab it here and why not at that point the old arm punt right there yeah exactly that's exactly what it was Timeout on the field 658 left here in the third quarter of the horn frogs down 1713 with the football we get back to Stanford state to after this time a way right now for Baylor Scott White let's check in with Elvis guyos Elvis yeah guys just to what we saw last series in hos Haney out there at quarterback unfortunately he's gone in the tent came out crutches in a boot I believe it's foot almost if I'm not mistaken I think it was an ankle or something but we will not see him the rest of this all right good de by the way Elvis any update on major everard injured on that kick return have you seen him back out yeah I have he went into the 10 as well I think you guys were right just took a shot in the midsection but uh he kind of came out and started moving around a little bit sounds good first down of 10 now at the 40 frog offense out there 658 to play in the third down 17713 right now as TCU and Hoover the quarterback as the frogs offense starts for just the second time beyond their own 25 yd line this one at the 40 after taking over on Downs here Hoover going to hand it off running right hand side cam Cook gets to the edge and turns it up at the 45 where he's knocked out of B gain of five there Scotty Edwards on the tackle cam cook the sophomore out of Round Rock played at Stony Point High School we'll hear more about him second down at five now at the 45 two receivers left play action this time fired it out left and Savon dropped another tried to run with it before he caught it now you're looking at third down of five same thing that happened the last Drive y trying to do too much before the ball's in his hands got to catch it read it tuck but guess what we go right back to him he's your guy oh yeah catch it read it tuck it third [Applause] over this time is going to have Richardson in the slot left B comes wide right wide left go saving on cam cook leaves the backfield to throw it again it's U look right pressure comes let go of it it's oh almost picked off Aaron Morris had a hand on it and dropped it that's five straight incompletions for Josh Hoover who did not have back-to-back completions before this stretch and now fourth and five and let's see if Sunny dyes putts it away for the first time of the night and he will that was an odd miscommunication there JP richon gets pelted in the back with the ball yeah I think he was strictly blocking for a wide receiver screen there right that was a play that was on but it was that was a check down out to put it away here is Ethan crawl the Junior from Australia left footed this one spins down to the 16 yd line the catch is made by farell 39 yard effort in the first punt of the career from Ethan craw out of Tasmania Australia another product of the pro kick Academy that H for 4.1 in the year and now Stanford right back with it it's a 16 with 621 to play here in this third quarter you were talking in the first half Marshall about how the pace was fairly quick in this one it has slow down yeah both teams you can call it settling if you want are feeling each other out uh this game is kind of naturalized normalized if you will but a lot of opportunities out there frogs had the football for 37 seconds on that last possession micel forward in at running back shifts from left to right now for the quarterback Ashton Daniels who operates out of the shotgun has his tied into the right side with two receivers there as well powered up hill KES a snap roll to that side just try to run behind his guard tackle and the frogs do a nice job there bottling him up a Kamar was there for the horn frogs among others and now it's second down second down at nine Kamar is a guy that expecting to have a big year kind of that nickel back the senior out of Alpharetta Georgia two receivers to the right one of the left- hand side now for the quarterback Daniels Ashton one back with it brings a Man in Motion across the formation play action this time deep ball left side man coverage fraer there and it's incomplete again pretty good job by J Travis Brock you know we didn't see that last year Elvis I mean you didn't see Corners able to ride run step for step with a guy make a play with their hands and not get a flag absolutely playing the ball in the air finishing the play is so important for these DBS and yeah you're right we didn't see that I mean I I've heard a lot about Brighton and I'm just really impressed he does a great job job off the line he stays on that hip and he just locates the ball and plays it well in the air Harris had to leave a little injured on that last play now the snap on third down and nine Daniels flushed out of the pocket rolling to his left Pro Pursuit he sling it down inside the 5 yd line that's Marcel Brooks who got there how about that that's what he can do that's the package they have from Marcel third down and long let's stick him in there you go chase down the quarterback and got it done an incredible athlete and you wonder why he's lower on the depth chart but he's got so much ability he can do that right there chase the quarterback down out of the pocket throw him down for a sack a big change of downs for TCU and Elvis we've been waiting on that from Marcel for a couple of years yeah he's a great athlete I mean that you're right that's exactly what he wants to do but Ashley Daniels better be careful you're not going to be able to turn the corner on an athlete like that Flint to putt it away here that was 14 yds on the loss there Richardson underneath it signals for the fair catch mix it at the 41 yd line 38- yd punt 4.1 on the Hang Time frogs get it back good field position now 41 yard line frogs will have the football when we come back down 17713 to Stanford with 443 to play in this third quarter back we come after this timeout and a word from barbasol looking for top talent TCU is a magnet for the nation's brightest nights after graduation half of our students he's like what I got all this stuff on me how how do you co football all of a sudden you look like you're a lineman for the telephone company you know got a little CB radio on there exactly whatever it took but so far communication seem to be working for both teams here in this uh first game of the 2024 season stations let's pause uh 10 seconds for station identification here at the hor frog the 402 and A2 of the Cardinal with 443 to play in this third quarter listen we talked about how rough that first half was but you're doing more of the right things than you think you're doing yeah you're down a score at of halftime now you're down by four you got the ball ready to drive down things are in front of you just adapt and figure stuff out the see if Josh Hoover can lead this team to a touchdown yes first and 10 now pretty good contention by the way horn frog faithful have made the trip here a lot of obviously alums in the California area this Stadium not nearly full seats just over 50,000 5424 post remodel that took place of [Music] course and prior to that this was a big state in fact the 85 Super Bowls here that was a 49ers win over the Dolphins I think that was Marino's rookie year was it not SP I think that was Dan Marino's only appearance in the Super Bowl cam cook stands to the left of the quarterback Hoover two receivers left one to the right hand side Brian Spar statistician looking at up as we speak here's cam cook running through the middle of this Stanford defense getting it down to the 30 yd line that's going to be a gain of 12 on that one for camp coook now the frogs to work quickly and have it first and 10 of the Standford 30 out of the shotgun Works Hoover sends a Man in Motion that's Richardson pumped to him throw it downfield got a man open inside the 20 the tight end inside the 10 down to the 5 yd line goes DJ Rogers there is a penalty marker down and cam cook is holding his head and that does not look good at least from a penalty perspective personal foul illegal block L the way offense number four 15yd penalty first down boy cook barely touched him on the edge I I'm wondering what that is cuz I know what a high low is but there was no other lineman engaged are they not allowed to cut in the Box not in the box and that's Scotty Edwards who was coming on the outside rning yes Running Back Time takes him out there cam cook knew it immediately Sunny dyes questioning the call talking to the ACC officiated crew moves it backwards now to the 45 yd line now the frogs first and 20 five that's tough cuz that's a natural football play From the Past y just a different rule they C barely glazed first down now two receivers to the right one on the left hand side Hoover out of the gun one back in it's cook again they'll fake it to cook to throw it ho Over The Middle's got a in Jack bash 30 25 breaks the tackle at the 20 at the 10 bash to the five back down to the one reaches out as they get there he got close to the two yd line Jack bash gets close it'll bring up first down and goal at the two great run after catch for the LSU transfer three receivers to the left hand side now here's your quarterback Hoover out of the shotgun 43 yards on that reception give it a cook up the middle a cam cook finds his way inside the one waiting for the signal here Camp Cooks lay it across the gold and there it is they gave it to him touchdown here now with a minute you got one saying touchdown and another one saying no second down wow Elvis that happened right in front of you you had opposite signals right I mean the ball crossed but I just it's hard to tell where the knee was I mean from my angle obviously I'm going to say he was a touchdown the ball did cross but it was hard to tell if his knee hit you got to believe they would take a look at this and they will now the official step in Sunny DS is living rolling on the field the runner was short on the goal line the previous play is under further review Sunny Dykes not happy they're going to take a look at this one this review going to be brought to us by our friends at barbasol and see here's the issue I think cam cook Elvis is on top of a Stanford player I don't think his knee is on the ground yeah I saw I saw that same Replay that you saw early on I was thinking the same thing but yeah it's hard to see right now they're not showing it we're in that land of indust utable evidence boys cuz the play the play is called on field is no touchdown I'm not sure that camera angle is going to quit that well here's the issue you had you you're right and the official stepped in and said the ruling has been any short of there but you had another official with his arms on touchdown we get another angle cam cook reaches out that's a touchdown fellas he's on top of a Defender to me that's if if I'm looking at the replay that we're seeing here in the booth that to me is indisputable evidence in the scores I'm with what am I missing I'm with you the only thing they they'll say is he the Stanford Defender is hiding his knees so they can't say for sure that his knee is not down it's this weird evidence or lack of evidence here's another angle I mean he's on top of his hi is on the Stanford Defender no of course not I'm SED I'm swaye yes I think this is going to be a touchdown for TCU and should give him the lead here ACC officiating crew checking it out can we run for just a second to the Jack Bes oh yes catch and run yes great job so fysical second time tonight where he's got the ball Yak does a stiff [Applause] arm separates yep four catches for 122 yards for Jack bash Elvis you told us last night in our production meeting you said this guy is going to have a great year I I believe it and we're seeing it tonight I mean I think I think just again you look at what he did at LSU as a freshman right he led that team in receptions and yeah coming over here maybe it took him a while to get going but you watch him in practice the guy works so hard he's super versal he can block can run he can line up in different formations Outside Inside you look at physical he plays but also is just he runs great routes he knows when to break his route down he notices the depths of of the DBS and he's just constantly open and it's almost like he knows how to create separation he at the right place stand oh good grief oh they watching oh well second a gold now at the one hey the other thing about Jack B I love you ever hear him talk about his three favorite things Marshall speak football is the thing I love most in this world behind my mama and my dad uh and Jesus so you know it's great to be able to be back out there playing ball with all the guys um but no I've been very excited to get back on the field um showcase what I can do and how I'll be able to this offense out Jack [Applause] Bish second down now second and goal at the one foot line for the horn [Applause] frogs at a 238 to play here in the third Hoover's going to climb under s got Chase Curtis in at fullback Dominic Johnson the transfer and Hoover's going to keep it and and that should be decisive still no signal there it is finally touchdown TCU hit the horn frogs retake the lead now 1917 as Hoover scores for a yard out got to come up with a new name is that the Toad Road the I like that to push yes they're in 13 personnel which means three tight ends all three in there and they get a push from behind from Curtis and he crossed the plane liman out for the point now to make this a 20-7 game as we work late in this third quarter Easton Black will hold it for the horn frogs Brit madis will snap it back mk's brother of course in the NFL with the Jaguars good snap here's the kick from liver and the lead at three now for the frogs 20- 17 frogs go out in front waited long enough for it to TCU but with 222 to go able to cash in and I think you're right you go back to the Jack bash catch and the yards after the catch set it up obviously at the two yd line you see you're able to punch it in but when you need big plays you got to go to the guys like that you got to go to Savon you said keep throwing it to him you got to go to Jack bash JP Richardson these guys got a lot of snaps U's going to find here we are with 222 left in the third quarter TCF TCU has over 130 yards on offense to Standford 15 yeah how about that just in this quarter alone that drive by the way four plays 42 yards took 222 off the clock before the Hoover Oney plunge gives him the 20-7 lead [Music] now liberman out to kick it off from the 35 of course has a teed up high end over end kick Pell's going to let it hit in the end zone roll out of the back and so Stanford's offense comes back out there get a little chippy out there on the kick re turn for Stanford couple of guys drawing back and forth I need more yeah you you like that yes all right first down and 10 to the 25 now for Stanford Bronx with a 20 to 17 lead if you're had of town and you want to keep up with live college sports be sure to download the free Varsity network available for both Apple and Android listen to college sports live with Varsity Network app downloaded at the App Store it's actually a great Tool It's a Wonderful app compatible with car play in your car you catch all the games all around the Country micel Ford in at running back now stands to the left of Daniels a quarterback out of the shotgun he works four down linan come for TCU with time pretty good protection now he's going to dump it off to Ford out of the backfield across the 2025 turns it up to the 27 yd line Johnny Hodges finally brings him down good job there good pace Pati by Ashton Daniels and able to find the late release on the running back by Mah Ford now that was a positive play by Ashton Daniels but what you're noticing from the TCU defense is what we call Vice it's how the two Defenders slowly close in and pinch a ball carrier and TCU is keeping contained better and they're tackling in the open field better because of that second down now second and nine two receivers still left two to the right Daniels out of the shot gun one back in that is Micah Ford to the right this time they'll hand it off to Ford red perfectly and down he goes de deal able to wrap him up immediately that's a loss of two on the play deal with a big time play let's learn more about this newcomer for the horn frogs linebacker Devin deal a transfer from two lane where he played in 30 Games over three years for the Green Wave deal LED them with 12 tackles for loss last year while finishing fourth on the team with 43 tackles that was good enough to earn recognition as an honorable mention for the All-American Athletic Conference Team the El Paso native actually played High School ball in the Metroplex at Garland's D Forest High School where he garnered a three star rating listed at 6'4 250 lb it's linebacker Deon deal third down and 11 now for Stanford out of the shotgun Daniels Works throws it over the middle it is caught here this is I man but a great open field Tackle by J Travis Bron will bring him down and the horn frog defense has forced a fourth and long now and Stanford's going to be forced to putt it away nice job there defensively there's that open field tackle you talked about Marshall BR making a name for himself tonight Flint off to punt it they race him out there he punts it away quickly on the run to the right Richardson grabs it at the 35 return right turns it up field to the 40 45 and Dives forward to the 47 yd line good return by JP 3.1 on the hang time as a sprinted flintoff out there a 38 yd punt 10 yd return to the offense back out there now for TCU up 20- 17 you feel the momentum starting to shift a little bit now into the horn FR favor I was just about to mention I didn't know if we believed and and sacrificed at the Temple of momentum in this booth but yes it feels that way things are shifting and see if this offense can capitalize on a nice defensive stand first down of 10 now at the 45 yd line what we'll talk about the difference between these halves as far as the defense are concerned with Elvis after this play cam cook stands to the left of the quarterback Hoover here on first down gets the carry running to his right cam bottled up down he'll go line of scrimmage and that is all and that should be the end of this first quarter before we do that badell on the tackle Elvis the difference between first half and second half for this TCU defense you know what I see fellas the units are playing together I mean they're hunting together first half you saw a couple guys make some good plays but there was some breakdown lack of communication coach ao's talked about that pre- snap communication and if you call the blitz don't hesitate go and it's looking like these guys are just they're smelling the blood in the water all right that's going to bring us to the end of the third quarter can that defense continue can this offense punch another one in to expand this lead frogs up by three on Stanford right now 20-7 in Palo Alto third quarter action comes to an end fourth quarter starts next after this timeout and a word from our local stations on the horn frog Sports network from learfield your morning shave with barbas is a time for self-reflection look in that mirror and ask yourself can I make a here on S for 20- 17 of the 2024 season opener for both ball clubs we welcome you back in here as frog start the season time for the earliest start ever in TCU history here tonight August 30 roog started uh the 2022 season against Colorado in August 32 right another early start there it's Colorado now a member of the Big 12 got a win last night over was it last North capota State yeah we were watching that was last night all right through three quarters here are your numbers right now TC with 30 uh 367 yards of total offense 286 through the air 81 on the ground 18 first downs and the third I'm going I'm going to give you the overall numbers and then I'm going to give you just the quarter numbers okay so Frog's 367 and 18 first got Stanford 168 total yards uh 106 on the ground 62 through the air they got 11 first down all right in that quarter third quarter frogs 134 yards offense six first downs Stanford 24 and one so as much as the first half there were you know that first quarter was really the second quarter too that Stanford kind of control things control it here in the third sorry about that we talked about keys of the game just being consistent yes and adjustments things are not going to be perfect you adjust that after each drive at the quarter and at the half and the half adjustments seem to be playing out right now in tcu's favor yeah you think about what these coaches talked about you mentioned that Elvis at halftime there wasn't a lot of yelling and screaming offensively from Kendall BRS he just said hey let's kind of go back to business right here yeah just calm down keep it clean and they've done that right that first half just so many mistakes and you know one thing to also note guys the coverage right is really good I know we've talked a lot Bron and but James these Corners done really good job in the second yeah second down now second and 10 here at the 45 yd Line Jordan Bailey is in for the horn frogs snap comes back to Hoover he's flushed got a r throw it away can't move he's going to go down to the 33 yd line they'll get the sack Tristan Sinclair that terrific run they haven't brought pressure a ton tonight but they get there with that linebacker Tristan Sinclair able to knock Hoover down back at the 34 Dr pressure and the right side line broke down a little bit uer had no choice but to roll left to take take a sa now it's third down and 21 three receivers right two to the left hand side now for Hoover out of the shotgun four down lineman comes slides up into pocket now rolls right airs it out and it's through the hands of his intended target Drake dney Dabney the tight end was sort of the safety Val along the sideline there standing there all a long Hoover a little high on it but catchable ball there dabing not able to bring it in my old coach used to say ain't no play for third and 21 that's hard isn't it now it's Fourth and 21 and the frogs will punt it away for the second time of the day they do it with Ethan crawl the Tasmanian devil I just named him if anybody else calls Bryce frell stands back at the 23 yd line Lefty angling it left frell runs underneath it and grabs it at the 31 yd line 35 yd effort for craw four flat on the Hang Time a a little disappointing there yeah you cuz I think Ethan Carl is going to be a really good pter I mean he's got all the tools but here again a guy who's never played college football walks out there for the first time tonight and I'm sure there's some nerves but I think the guy's going to be really special I'm with you on that and also just that offensive possession as well oh yes we talked about momentum feeling like it was shifting and maybe we're just a little too early yeah first first down of 10 now at the 30 ydd line here micel Ford is in at running back I do spend a little too much time on pter I'm sorry about that first down of 10 to the 30 here's the Daniels out of the shock of pressure for the edge got rid of it it's caught at the 35 yd line and it's going to be a pick up of five here on the reception of Sam rousi tied end as the frogs brought the heat from the edge that time OB eyesore just a little bit late second and five Daniels out of the shotgun deep ball left side man again and it's incomplete got the defender turned around that time CE was the intended target Austin Jordan in coverage Jordan out of Denton R third down and five now Daniels huddles up the Cardinal they break it out before the 15 second Mark so the frogs get an opportunity to see this was able to talk to his linebacker get him lined up three receivers to the left one to the right Cooper McDonald is SL he just slid back to linebacker now he's going to come sprinting on the rush up the middle Daniels off his back foot airs it out back shoulder throw catch was way but he was out of pounds that's a great catch made by I Manor good coverage by the horn FRX that was J Travis Bron again and now it's fourth down for Stanford at the 35 he is enjoying hearing his name tonight he is all up in these Stanford receivers again patience at the last minute going for the ball making that a difficult catch to finish now it's Fourth and five at the 35 and is Stanford going to go for it here Troy Taylor leaves his offense out there plenty of time left in this game fourth and five the 35 out of the shotgun Daniels again pressure up the middle Daniels flushed out rolling to his right McDonald and Trace turns it up field frogs getting bottled up and down out of Bounds at the 38 yd line and the frogs will take over here and you've got to question that a little bit do you not going for it with 1338 to go we we talked about earlier Troy Taylor having the pulse of the game first down TCU Troy Taylor is the is the play caller for for Stanford having the pulse of the game that one you just I'm not sure you need to do that felt un forced they're on their own side of the field that's that end up being a big one that's that's a field position flip for this team yeah and that's also more than field position Elvis that can really kind of flip the psyche of a game can it not well yeah especially the defense right now if I'm the defense I'm going these guys are panicking yeah they feel the pressure they feel the heat they don't want it I love the coverage that we're seeing the pass rush is getting there I don't think Daniels is as comfortable as he was the first half if you notice a lot what I've seen this second half he's patting the ball lot Pat patting that's somebody who's just really not comfortable back there yeah back uh back foot throw earlier too on that drive 1338 to play here in this fourth quarter the defense back excuse me the offense back out there for TCU the Stanford defense after just a 36 second break we'll be back out on the field here facing that frog offense they lead at 20 to 17 to TCU 1338 left in the fourth back we come after this local timeout of the horn frock Sports network from Dallas Fort Worth lonar 925 1338 left in this ball game hor up right now 20 17 on Stanford back to out to California we had a chance for the day here not only Standford Camp beautiful place great school by the way terrific tradition here at Stanford both athletically and academically obviously we've had 69 all-americans in football 26 College Football Hall of Famers a couple of national championships some of the great names in football I was telling sper before the game I said it's iconic names that you know but you don't really know what they did coached here Pop Warner coached in Stanford Walter Camp coached at stand for those are big names calling fundamental of football exactly yeah not to mention the what happened happens academically here obviously they don't study too much no no no no we mentioned earlier the 39 medals the Paris Olympics they've won a national championship in a sport in the NCAA each of the last 48 years 48 years in a row they won a national championship in sub here at Stanfield pretty amazing first and 10 now for the h frogs they'll take over at the 37 yd line 1338 to play B goes wide to the right hand side Savon comes wide left Hoover's got two backs in one to either side now Hoover leaves the backfield snap directly will come to Savon Williams it's a good package snap to Savon fake the reverse Savon turns the corner at the 35 takes on a tackler and steps out of bounds on the 30 yard line that's seven hey that was cute but I love it because what happens you get the direct snap to Savon he gets a chance to just run and make something happen with the ball in his hands yep when cute works it's okay sure when it's not too not too many moving pieces yeah second down to three now the 30 two receivers to the left now for the quarterback Hoover Hoover with backs to either side out of the shotgun this time this time he's going to give it to cook cook keeps running right dances his way in traffic for a first down to the 25 yd line that's a five yard pickup there for cam cook cam cook we've seen a lot of runs tonight all three four five yards what does that do that gets you in second and medium second and short third and short I feel like C's patient he does a nice job kind of setting up his lineman there absolutely first and 10 now the 25 for the horn front savon's going to come wide left wide right was JP Richardson snap back to throw the football this time back shoulder throw in and out of the hands tended for bash B was there covered up this time by Zaron Manley Manley knocked it away B almost jumped early it felt like he was on the way down he M Ed that yes he definitely did pretty good throw from Hoover that's a back shoulder throw that's I think they practic that that's on purpose uh and I I imagine that's not going to be the last we see of Jack bash getting those yeah and it felt like and Elvis you had a better angle it looked as if uh Manley may have pulled the Jersey bash a little bit Sunny D saw that Sunny definitely saw that I think it could have been cold but I do think Jack probably jumped a little too soon second down to 10 now Blitz comes Hoover avoids it rolls to his right looking needs some help tries to get a block takes it forward to about the 20 yd line picked up a five making third down and manageable here third down and five for the horn frogs we're going to get later in the season hopefully the prags are Marching on plays like that keeping in drives and in games he makes something out of nothing now it's third and five instead of third and 10 that stuff wins you football Richardson goes wide right along with B now comes left frog s of 12 on third down they' missed on their last three though Richardson in motion across the formation cook in the back field Hoover flips it out left Richardson can't hang off thre it a little in front of him he had a Blocker in cam cook well s's play there on third five yeah I know I know what you're thinking there you get you get a oneon-one matchup only Edge Richardson makes a g i i just like throwing it to the marker I agree with you but that play was executed it richon catch the ball hits his hands they they have numbers the whole point of these jet motions is to get numbers quickly that's a first down and then some if he catches it and that's supposed to be a long hand off I know you know should be anyway liberman now from 39 yds out he's made two already tonight High snap they get it down liberman Powers it up but it is no good missed it left bad snap from Madison tough hold that time for the new holder in Ethan brawl or excuse me for in East black and liberman's first Miss of his career there comes with 1143 to play in this ball game and the frogs up 20- 17 so if you're if you're Troy Taylor the head coach of Stanford you're thinking to yourself see that fourth and five didn't I knew what I was doing there you know store of the game for TCU unforced errors all the things they've been doing have been self-inflicted tonight yes time out P the field 11:43 to go 20 to 17 frogs by three back will come after this from this commercial isn't about us it's about you it's about you and your the football first 10 at the 21 yd line bring you back to Palo Alto beautiful place here in Northern California this produced great athletes over the years but also great leaders in fact I got a list here name see if you guys know these Elvis get in on this conversation okay Ted CLE see I'm going to check you guys age here you know who that is yeah yeah it's t CLE 202u man yeah yeah Nightline that's yeah that's right Phil Knight yeah yeah for n the Stanford Grant Charles Schwab how about that fairly got some my money yeah uh Ted Dan there you cheers cheers yes re Rees Witherspoon all right sigy Weaver aliens yeah president ho Herbert ho he's a St for Sally Ry nope yeah the astronaut and then uh plucket and Elway probably the two best quarterbacks don't you think to come out of here luck man no luck no luck I don't have I got luck through you know what do you say about your mom man plunk it yeah plunk it one a highway was Elway all right all right uh first out of 10 now for Stanford they start from the 20 yd line back Meer in motion they'll think it to him roll to his right M Daniels look down field fired it out and it is called on the comeback route hanging on for the first down of the 32 yard line there's I maner and enough for a first down here at the 32 gain of 11 officially stford with the football down for Reed to the H rocks with 1122 to go four WIS two to either the side now out of the shotgun will work Daniels Micah Ford stands to the right Daniels looks right fired it out caught again by oam miner we we saw him kind of take control of the Colorado game last year had 294 yards in the second half wow second down now second and six by the way that previous throw for the first down just a second first down of the second half for Stanford down to 1047 to play in the fourth two receivers left one to the right now leaving the back fields Michel Ford he'll establish right as well so four wides for Daniels changing the play on second down and second and five officially here's Daniels looks left firing at slant catch made here up near the 45 there's tiger bachmeier the sophomore out of Lake Elenor California played at Murietta Valley for The Nighthawks that's a pick up of eight and a first down there that's his first catch of the night get 36 catches last year hand off this time comes forward for knocked down behind the line of scrimmage back to the 38 yd line that's AB Kamar blowing that play up for a loss of seven Stanford trying to speed things up but that little Jet Sweep uh running back to the flat Veer gets caught by AB kamaro second and 17 now two receivers left one on the right hand side for the quarterback Daniels out of the shotgun one back standing to the left that's the quarterback Ford frogs bring the pressure they pick it up nicely Daniels throws it catch is made at the 40 but a nice open field tackle there and now a penalty marker comes in late after BM was thrown down by AB Kamar I mean that's a that looks like a football play doesn't that I don't know how to describe it other than sensitive play on Sports mle conduct number one defense his first of the game 15 penalty automatic first down the Stanford receiver grabbed his arm on the way to the ground he was trying to rip his arm out and I don't know what the ref sees there I don't know why you just don't keep letting him play keep the game going yeah that just looks like a football play Elvis that was right in front of you yeah I don't get it either fellas looked like I mean they just got tangled up and he ripped his hand out and that ball popped up it's almost like the ref overreacted just threw the flag I thought a reacted a little late too I thought he could have come up with a pick there almost first down now first and 10 in TCU territory at the 44 Daniels again flushed out of the pocket rolling to his right frogs in Pursuit he's inside the 40 steps Out of Bounds at about the 37 yd line of TCU nice job there Aston danels with his streets going to pick up eight on that one second and short up coming got a 910 left in this ball game before that play this half TCU had done a really good job of keeping Ashton Daniels contained Johnny Hodes gets engaged on the edge but lets him get outside the only reason he gets the yards yeah that Vice you were talking about right mhm here in second and two now four wides two to out of the side Irving back in the back field Cedric stands to the right of the quarterback looks right fired it underneath incomplete and then bumped out of bounds here was IO manner to bring up now third down J Johnson by the way was in coverage hit him and see the official kind of thinking about it sub ution as Cooper McDonald comes back in for Deon deal here is that gray area the Troy Taylor might be already in his head looking at Fourth Down calls yeah third down at two here at the 36 yd line two receivers right one to the left hand side now bring a Man in Motion bachmeyer out of the shotgun Daniels looks right firing it out down Field's got a man and this time it is H inside the 10yd line down to about the eight and now starting to heat it up is ell I maner that one for 29 yds sets up first down and goal with a seven to Travis Bron who's been great was in coverage this time they'll turn and hand it off they work quickly Cedric Irvin Irvin's going to take it down to the two and inside the two to the one yd line on the first down carry so second and goal now at the one yd line a pickup of six Elis on the previous play that was pretty good coverage by J Travis brought but a great throw by ders well it was a good throw I'm actually going to give Eli a lot of credit there you know one of the things that they talk about is how well he plays the ball in the air in his adjustments and that's why some people think he could be a first round draft that a really good throw out of Medicine Hat Alberta Canada outs go to either side quarterback keeper this time for Daniels frogs come over the top to try to get him down play continues but they're going to whistle this one dead shy of the goal line it'll bring up third down a goal at the one now I do believe that was a little window dressing but to still to get to a QB sneak by by Ashton Daniels he's on the wing he motions to under Center get stuffed by the Frog defense let's see if they can do it again now they bring in Justin lamsam in at quarterback the better Runner although I don't know how you get better than Ashton Daniels 15 carries for 89 yards tonight lansom comes in one back stands to his left is Cedric Irving Stanford trying to retake the lead they Trail 20 to 17 right now one receiver to the right snap back to lansom lansom Kei running left up ended reaches out did he get in touchdown touchdown Stanford with 657 to play here in the fourth and the Cardinal retake the lead here to go up 2320 on TCU Those qbb runs are so difficult because you get the extra blocker at the running back position and it makes the numbers not match up for the defense it's tough now the point after with this lead currently at three pick one here for EMT Kenny Conor wesselman will hold it Payton Warford to snap it [Applause] back taking another look at this one as they do on all scoring plays just to make sure ACC officiated crew double checking that he was in fact over the line before that knee went [Music] down that's some with a touchdown run here he had five scores last year and now they say yes the touchdown was successful 23-20 now the point after here to make this a four Point Stanford lead and the kick is good 24 to 20 Stanford leads it by four on the H drop 657 left to the fourth back after this word from Albert Tom Thumb is making shopping and saving easier than ever check out Tom the financial services you need for the people you know anytime every time Frost exactly what you expected 11 plays 79 yds 446 off the clock one yd plunge from Justin Lamson the difference of this ball game right now Stanford regains the lead 24-20 they leaded here on the horn Frost work in this fourth [Music] quarter this fourth quarter these are moments when you learn how to win TCU is up 20 to 17 with the ball going and trying to score again self-inflicted wounds you might go up by two scores instead the game flips you give up a long drive and now you're fighting for your life again uh senior Le teams experienced teams know when they moments are to put teams away you got to put them away Che able to help us along the sidelines for D le and give us some idea of the spirit of this group here late in this fourth quarter was yeah I think you're see a little bit of the frustration of the coaches uh the defens side of just coach Gonzalez talking through talking to AAR said you can't do that can't afford that penalty late in the game like that got to be smarter and then also too you know Marshall tucks on this is just Johnny he's got to keep contained you know you see you know the athlete that Ashton is you got to you know he's going to try to FL out of there make a play you got to keep contend now the Frog offense will get another opportunity here 657 to work with both teams with three timeouts left everheart back out there to return is that or is that Bailey I think that might be Bailey back out there yeah Jordan Bailey out to return this kick major everheart left earlier in the game EMT kenning will kick it off now for Stanford so biley stands at the one yd line see if he gets an opportunity here he's a Speedster if he can touch it [Music] [Applause] Ken's kick angled toward Bailey at the goal line here he comes return up the middle 15 20 outside he goes at the 25 and down to the 26 yd Line Jordan Bailey decent return frogs have it first and 10 of the 26 I like how quickly he hit that though now the offense back out there down four see what Hoover and Company could do little taste of Bailey speed right there [Applause] yes frog offense trots out Mo's going to operate saon Williams wide to the left hand side cam cook is and at running back stands to his right Bunch set to the right with Richardson and Bash both there now Richardson leaves it Hoover quickly throws it underneath catch made by Jack bash turns it up field and gets to the 39 yd line it's 13 on first down Jay green on the tackle for the Cardinal FR will work quickly now I just love the physicality the best plays with after the catch first of 10 two receivers right one to the left- hand side stay with that same formation cam out there again same play throw it underneath this time Richardson across me Midfield across the 4540 on his feet 3530 still on his feet look at like his daddy Bucky inside the 30 and down to the 27 yd line JP Richardson 34 yards all the reception last time and it's well first and 10 for the frogs now they work quickly again to the 27 of Stanford out of the shotgun Hoover slows them down now Richardson leaves the punch set they'll look left this time does hoover diving out making a grab his Savon he catches it but it'll be just a three-yard game here three straight rpos there from the frogs taking advantage of the Stanford secondary not be able to keep up with the receivers on the edge yeah all out of the same formation they gave him different looks every time am I right about that Elvis yeah it looks like they're packing it in you guys might get a better look but they just keep packing the formations in defense scooting up and he likes his options you know throwing the ball Richardson Moves In Motion across the formation bash goes wide to the right Hoover or making Richardson in the slot to that side now Hoover out of the shotgun cooking the Back Field delay hand off fake to it throw it underneath Richardson makes the grab and turns it up field close to the first down I think he's going to get it at the 12 yd line Manley upends him Richardson able to to get close to that Mark let's see where they Spot It They'll call it second down at a foot cook in there Stanford thinks it's going to be a run play they give it excuse me third down of one I should say they give it a cook and it'll take it up to the 15 yd line they were late changing the down marker gets to the 15 on the third down and a foot the frogs get the first down you was not waiting around for the the measurement of the spot they were just going yep all right first down now at the 15 frogs are down 4 2420 44 five to play in this one slot left goes Savon wide left goes Richardson wide right goes Jack bash those three have really kind of gone the distance here tonight think the inside give throw it underneath Savon down to the 10 down to the nine close to the eight Stanford ripping at the football trying to pull it out of the arms of big Savon Williams who was going to have none of that Senor from Marshall just crumbles down at the8 yd line with ball in hand [Music] [Applause] frogs have two receivers over a 100 yards in this ball game Richardson's got 107 bash has 135 yet savon's been targeted 15 times excuse me 16 times he's got 11 catches second down now second and three those guys have been good here tonight two receivers right one to the left hand side cam in the back field gets a hand off trying to Sprint it right turns it up field inside the five and down to the four for a first down first and goal at the four now for the horn frogs with 343 to play in this ball game there's a sense of urgency on this drive that you just wonder where it's been all night yes as if I mean they right now they're just knifing through them like they could do anything they want everything's a learning opportunity oh yeah first to go to the four yd line right now Hoover has cook to his right tied into to the right in this formation two receivers left Hoover takes the snap looking airs it out deep ball left side catch in the corner touchdown hit the ho hauled in by Jack bash and the frogs go up 2624 with 313 to play in this ball game wow that was a beautiful drive frogs come out in 12 personnel with two tight ends but they line them up to the short side of the field they run a slant corner with Jack B and Savon Williams and B man on man is wide open in the corner yeah and not an easy throw to make Elvis I mean those guys practice it day in and day out but the touch there from Hoover was perfect is that a little bit of his former baseball experience there Brian what a touch on that ball yep here's the point after now from liberman knocks that one through hor frogs back out in front now by three 2724 with 313 to play in this ball game can we do that every Drive yeah how about that Stanford's going to have three timeouts and the two-minute warning all right so plenty of time in this ball game with 313 to go terrific drive by the horn frogs eight plays 74 yards took 337 Josh Hoover was great on that drive six of six throwing the football for 67 yards and that score obviously on the night he's thrown for 353 and two scores and these three musketeers at wide receiver have been terrific JP Richardson Jack fash Savon Williams really kind of gone the distance that was as crisp as the offense has looked for a sustained drive all night maybe two years hey hey about that they used no huddle a little bit of hurry up a little bit of muddle huddle all different tempos they took what was there excellent drive by the frogs offense L to kick it off now to Stanford from right to left high endover end kick in this one fair catch made let's see should be yet Bryce frell 25 yd line Stanford will have the football tonight's game brought to you by Progressive Insurance they offer Auto Home and Commercial Auto Insurance Plus a variety of business options visit progressive.com today and reminder that a DWI from drugs alcohol or edibles could cost cost you up to $177,000 drive sober or it's game over visit Drive aware nx. org to learn how to improve driver behavior in north Texas first down now first and 10 at the 25 yd line Micah Ford in at running back for the quarterback here Ashton Daniels frog defense has to hold up by three is TCU with 313 to go Daniels out of the shotgun five wides three down line come frogs will play coverage Daniels deep ball left side over the top got a man Breaking Free incomplete and that was close wow the wide receiver had beaten Bud Clark well bud Clark came over the top helping out and I think that was J Travis BR was it not Jackson Harris the intended target that was actually lamary and James in coverage frogs were in a two deep Zone Bud Clark is the half safety he's in charge of that entire half he's got to get over there quicker second of 10 recovered late as they say right three receivers left one to the right hand side out of the shotgun Daniels looks left again sets fires another deep ball this time it's over the head of his intended target that was intended for BM and it's third down now they see something over there obviously to their liking again it's that was Bud Clark over the top well as we talked about this off air it feels like last year teams have kind of been been seeing Bud Clark as someone they can pick on I don't know if Stanford found that lateer this is coincidence think about this too fellas these first two looks Avalos has thrown two different looks up front that time allowed the the pocket to collapse a little bit so he didn't have a great place great way to go third down now third and 10 at the 25 three receivers make it four to the left one to the right four down lineman come Daniel slides up in the Pocket Frogs will get here and get it there back of the 19y line aalos Dows it up Marcel Brooks and Devin deal able to get there that's the Andy aalos is known for bringing what they call simulated pressure which they show more guys on the line scrimmage than they'll bring they had two linebackers in the AAP but they only Rush four frogs get there with four rushers they wrap Ashton Daniels up it's fourth down and they get it with Devon deal and Marcel Brooks Elvis two guys that have to be big right yeah their athletic say was really going up in this score comes down to this now folks fourth down now fourth and 16 from the 19 yd line Daniels out of their shotgun over the middle fired it out in traffic it's dipped up in the air and incomplete yeah unable to haul it in was IO Manor now the horn frog defense holds lamarian James was in coverage and tcu's offense takes over now at the 19 yd line of the Cardinal we are watching maturation in real time that's another fourman rush they keep their contained Rush Lanes make Ashton Daniels beat him with their AR with his arm they make a play on the ball excellent job of this frogs defense in a timely time yeah and that was Devon deal again El was providing pressure on Ashton Daniels forced him to throw that one early what a night man he's he's looked really good and like I'm loving what aalo sent in the second half this late in the game too you guys are talking about it up there I'm seeing Five Guys up front then he's dropping two bringing three the next play he bringing four this is just what we've been talking about all fall he's had just this aggressive approach getting after the quarterback first down of 10 now for the horn frogs down to 214 to play in this ball game against Stanford three timeouts and the two-minute warning Hoover got to hand it off to cam cook cam tried to bounce it out to the right burning some time here gets it to the 18 yd line time not going to be taken by Troy Taylor 207 to go wise timeout there then you're going to get the two-minute timeout of the next one it is bizarre seeing a two-minute warning in C it is y got to get used to it I kind of like it I'll be honest with you I know we've only had it for this one game but I've always kind of like the two-minute point it's it makes the end of games and end of half that a little more interesting yes yes yeah I often thought you know why does the NFL have in the college game not I know it was for TV obviously for commercials but it just felt good felt like it you're right it did give you an extra chance but if you're the offense trying to Salt the game away you've got to do one more thing another first down another set of yards to finish games off and you know the other thing is coaches some coaches can handle the two-minute you know warning timeout easier than others I mean because there is a art to okay how am I get to work this by maximizing my timeouts another variable strategy that go in there second down now second and eight here at the 18 yd line of Stanford U's got cook standing to his right two receivers right one to the left hand side savon's wide left tight end to the left bring a Man in Motion give it off to cook trying to bounce it out to the left turns The Edge at the 1510 and Out of Bounds at the nine yd line that's enough for a first down it was going to stop the clock anyway love for him stay in bounds but going to bring you to the two-minute warning nonetheless so there you have it the two-minute warning we'll take the timeout with them the horn frogs leading at 2724 here on the Stanford Cardinal looking for win number one on the Year back we come after this timeout and a word from Pepsi today we have two very special guests on our right FR here trying to hang on with two minutes left of this ball game first and goal at the eight for TCU with a three-point lead right now 2724 frogs for the advantage and the football I don't mean to nitpick on your words cuz you're you have a away with words I don't want to hang on yeah I want a touchdown right I think you're right now a touchdown you feel like seals it here you know put you up by 10 yeah you put pressure on Ashton Daniels to go score with his arm which he has not been able to do consistently yeah first down a goal at the seven yd line U taking his time he's going to have his group in this muddle huddle right now check it to the sidelines with Kendall Bry play clock's going to start let's see they're going to go and break out of it two receivers to the right two backs into either side now tied in to the left that's an extra blocker to the left hand side this time boo threw that one in space no one really there Savon and Jack bash were both into a c in the end zone through that Mis communication there and Elvis toward the end of that timeout Josh was talking to the sideline right he was signaling to the sideline I'm not sure everyone else got what he I think they changed that did they not it's possible because they definitely weren't on the same page even Savon threw his hands up like he wouldn't expected that he was just going to run this guy off yeah two receivers right two backs in they're going to hand it off this time here's cam looking for something five 4 3 two hurdles a Defender into the end zone touchdown TCU hit the H cam cook scores this one from seven yards out and the frogs go up by nine now 3324 wow he cooked on that one he got some air baby [Applause] great job setting it up too he let his blockers do their thing tiptoed through that offensive line and around the Defenders Elvis That's a mature move by him back but here he is just a young fell making that happen yeah and you know what stood out to me is he gets wide he gets lateral really fast and then sticks his foot in the ground and it gets vertical as soon as he sees that crease it's just really hard because as a defense it really stretches you lemmerman out for the point after now to make this a 10-point lead for the horn frogs here is is the Freshman Kyle liberman makes that one and it's 3424 TCU as the frogs go up by 10 thanks to the feet of the youngster at running back here making it happen cam cook cam cook the running back from Round Rock the Stony Point tiger where he played for the legendary Craig chestler comes to Fort Worth after a stellar High School career with nearly 3,000 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns in his career the 511 95 pounder was an all district football player in addition to being all district in track winning the long jump District title cook also lettered in baseball in high school and last year at TCU Cooks saw action in eight games averaging six yards per carry on his 16 touches running back cam cook cam cook having a night here 20 carries 81 yards and a touchdown that one puts the horn frogs up by 10 thanks to the point after frogs making a half and four plays 19 yards took 23 seconds off the clock on that one more importantly got the score though to make that lead 10 now 3424 working towards ceiling this one as liberman kicks it off for the frogs and Fel will go to a knee in the end zone so Stanford with two timeouts remaining minute 51 to work with and down here by 10 now 3424 FR of the advantage Ashton Daniels will bring his group back out there cam cook has been solid here you know Sunny dyes talked about this run game this running back room thought it was being overlooked a wide receiving core that we had talked about the depth of it but really it's been three guys here tonight that have made it happen for TCU Savon Williams with 11 catches for 85 yards Jack bash has six for 139 in score JP Richardson six catches 107 in this game first and 10 now for Action Daniels the quarterback for the Cardinal sends three receivers to the left make it four now one to the rightand side to throw the football dumps it underneath ball knocked away looseing the ground let's see looks like Stanford oh they're going to rule it incomplete never had possession did mik afford out of the back field and it'll bring up second down to 10 we've talked all night about the the athleticism in tcu's Edge rushers this is the time they get to pin their ears back there's nothing to do here but pass for Stanford now you see Marcel Brooks Deon deal goof McDonald oafa Mena we haven't mentioned tonight right get to pin their ears back let's see what they can do that was Devon deal by the way who knocked that ball out of the arms of Michael Ford second and 10 to the 25 Ford shifts from left to right to throw the football Daniels pressured Over The Middle's got him man wide open that's a good catch by ion Manor who's still on his feet takes it across the 45 to Midfield draggon Defenders to the 48 of the frauds good gracious that's 27 yards on that reception great yard after catch there as he took two Defenders for a ride on that one three receivers right two to the left hand side to throw it again is Daniels looks left underneath catches made of the 42 of the horn FRS that's ishmail CA eight of six on that second and four now clock runs with a minute 10 to go Daniels in the pocket dumps it off again this is Ford out of the Back Field deal makes the tackle as he gets it down to about the 33 yd line enough for a first down and fourward a little slow getting up now may not get up as a matter of fact he stays down at the 33 stops the clock with 103 to go and the training staff here for the Cardinal draw down to take a look at Micah Ford if the frogs are able to hang on here to go to one and0 they'll show up at home next week to take on the sharks of Long Island that's a 7 o'clock kick coming up on Saturday night our air time along the network will be at six Stanford will play host to Cal py here at Stanford [Applause] Stadium Ford able to jog off and so play will continue now with 103 left in this game first and 10 at the 34 the frogs four wides Daniels four down lineman come for TCU Daniels flushed rolls to his right now tucks it at the 30 and punched out of Bounds at about the 28 yd line in Pursuit Caleb elarms or that's a gain of six on the play that's a guy that you think Elvis eventually works his way into more and more playing time here right I do I mean he had a really good year at Cal last year uh you look at him he's very versatile he's probably a guy could play inside play outside loves a p you know get after the quarterback really good pass rusher so I think he's going to find a way to kind of find his spot I think we'll see a lot more of him second down now second and four Junior out of Hayward California getting some action here they throw it under and it passes incomplete it's Bud Clark closing in on ishma cesa that it'll bring up third down now it's two-minute drill you still want to see disciplined pass rush Lanes Ashton Daniels gets out of the pocket last or two plays ago trying to keep him in the pocket this time that's that's what he can do at this late in the game third down now third and four by the way El aror had over 100 family members at this game today yeah which would probably be a complete section that's Sanford Stadium out of Hayward California two receivers to the left one to the right hand side pressure comes up the middle gets rid of it airs it out of this one's going to be over the head of his intended target it'll bring up fourth down now it'll come down to this one final play fourth down and four upcoming they're going to send out the kicker get the three here with 41 seconds to work with this is a good move bows Travis broughten again on AO men and the thing that I say about him all tonight is he is physical he is right there with these receivers making them win everything 45 yd effort here for EMT Kenny close the gap down with 41 seconds to workwood snap hold the kick got plenty on it and it is good all right 36 seconds left Stanford scores again 34-27 for frog for the lead is K able to knock that one through Stanford has two timeouts left but you're assuming there's an onside kick coming here yes got to believe that not over yet here on the farm in Palo Alto frogs will travel home tonight so it'll be an early morning arrival tomorrow for TC good news is you get the extra day with this being a Friday night game to rest and recover for next Saturday night's game against Long Island that's a kicker TCU hes team having to do a little Switcheroo trying to match up man for man with this onside kick attempt about to kick it off here's the kick and is picked up by the horn frogs immediately nice job there by the hands team Chase Curtis very decisive that's what you have to do go after the football he did grabbed it didn't chase the senior out of Pittsburgh Kansas and that should preserve the win for the frogs now with 36 seconds left the frogs although Stanford can stop it twice you just go to a knee a couple of times here get out of Pala Alto with a [Music] win hopefully Hoover climbs under Center here Frog's getting that Victory formation but he's going to be in the shotgun snap to come back from Brock am Myer Hoover slides down there's one timeout taken by Stanford 33 seconds left Troy Taylor in his third year here as the head coach uh pardon me second year I should say spent three years at Sacramento State he was a Big Sky Conference coach of the year every year he was there that's not an easy job either sack State he went 30 and eight there that's uh pretty good Stanford teams can cause some problems they're still building back up they've got a different set of resources than a lot of teams and now they're a new conference I like tro Taylor though no this Stanford team's going to win some games in the a6c you you talked about that last night Hoover takes the snap goes to a knee Again Taylor will take his time out yeah they've got py then they'll travel to Syracuse and to Clemson backto back weeks Virginia Tech at home then at Notre Dame they get SMU and Wake Forest here in back-to-back weeks at NC State then Louisville here and they close out the last two weeks with two California schools Cal and San Jose State third down now Stanford can't stop the clock Josh Hoover takes the snap goes goes to a knee and that's going to do it well the horn frogs here and the opener for 2024 get it done as Sunny dyes heads to Midfield to visit with Troy Tay their Old Friends by the way Troy was a quarterback at Cal and of course Sunny dyes was a head coach at Cal then he became the head coach in fome high school Sunny live there recruiting big hug and a handshake for those two guys with a lot of respect for each other as Sunny gets his first win by the way ever against St for was 0 and four against the Cardinal was sunny dkes frogs with the victory here to go in 1 and0 on the season here in 20124 final score TCU 34 Stanford 27 our wrap-up show starts next after this timeout and a word from frostbank at Frost we believe in Worth Texas now let's go back to the stadium here's Brian Estridge 34-27 the final score the horn frogs get the victory here tonight in the opener in 2024 over the Stanford Cardinal it wasn't always pretty Marshall new house but it was good enough for this first win anytime you go on the road power five team here got to come out to California this is a team that is has much improved over last year in Stanford and you find a way to win in game one you said earlyer on there going to be mistakes you just got to play through them frogs made a few tonight but they did they played through them and get the win you'd always like to wake up tomorrow with a win with a lot to improve on S night's going to have a nice little film session for the boys nice little workout they've got a lot of things to shore up but this was a sloppy game that they still end up winning a lot of nice performances though yeah you think about the wide receiving core especially saon Williams with 11 catches for 85 of a score Jack F had six for 139 in a score JP Richardson six catches for 107 we knew that they were going to be a strength of the team what folks didn't know was a running back situation at cam cook tonight 20 carries 81 yards and a touchdown I think sort of solidified folks okay this you got another running back here at TCU yeah just a workmanlike game again we average about four yards a carry but those four yards a carry put them in second and six third and two and that allows you your opens your playbook up to so many more things you have to take less chances uh you get to get the ball out for Josh Hoover or take a chance on the outside so that's just an under the radar thing that he's a guy who who took care of the ball he was patient as we mentioned he took the yards that were there he protected the ball and got the team the offense to the next down which you know that leads to Jack bash having the day he has that leads to Savon having the day he has all these things work together Josh Hoover finishes the day 28 of 42 353 yards and two scores fun to see him out there operate it he feels comfortable uh is not perfect as we mentioned but he's a guy who this team really wants to Rally behind the guys tend to seem to care about him he seems to care about his guys and you know we we talked about them going into the halftime hey we're going to find out what this team has made of a little bit these are the moments that you start imprinting uh uh yourself on the season uh this frog team seems to be very resilient so far and again they've got a lot to improve on but you love getting these wins all right talk to me about the defense they hold uh Stanford to under 300 yards a total offense in the ball game uh the frogs for Stanford to just five of 15 on third Downs they had four sacks they had 10 stops behind the line of scrimmage I thought yeah you gave up a couple of plays you'd like to get back you didn't pinch down as you talked about on a couple that could have made a made a difference but and and you had some penalties defensively that ended up hurting you but for the most part I think we saw a remarkable Improvement out of this defense over last year You' like to think you sh up the the discipline stuff the the penalties and the weird things the bad calls the bad late hits on Sportsman like conduct but they settled in they adjusted on the Fly I don't know if those Microsoft services are working or not but they adjusted they kept Ashton Daniels contain for the most part in the second half they covered their tails off in the back end uh Broughton brought at this game I'm excited to see his progression as a player uh and you could tell that this is a brand new defense we were we knew there were going to be some things that just didn't look right some slower Communications but you give them time you give them more weeks to prepare this feels like a defense that's going to cause problems for opposing offenses instead of sitting back and letting the offenses dictate everything yeah the horn frogs withn this Victory 34-27 now 4-0 all time against the Stanford Cardinal with this win here uh tonight the two teams will meet in 2027 back in Fort Worth as a matter of fact for that one wonder what league we all be in at that point but uh nonetheless this one goes down as a W for TCU to start the 2024 season we got a lot to get into in the wrap-up show we'll hear from head coach I try to catch a couple of players if we can we'll have some notes from this one plus Dave shook will run down the score fromwhere across the country he's got the numbers from this ball game in a preview of Liu next week that happens when the wrap-up show continues after this timeout at a word from Texas Health who better to care for TCU fans than we'd get an opportunity here to visit with some TCU players Elis sky is going to get us a couple of them we'll visit them here in just a minute as the uh horn frog celebrating in the locker room as you might imagine Marshall these are fun locker rooms to be a part of are they not absolutely yeah especially I walk down there pregame it's a tighter locker room so you might think of that as an inconvenience but after the win you're all sweaty you're all excited uh these are the moments that you'll remember especially after wins I mean I'm sure there's a lot of Joy a lot of appreciation for the moment yeah um and we'll see how work like they are but it's like hey get back on the bus let's go home yeah we talked about the fact that you've been a part of 15 first games between the NFL and college I mean you get a win in that first one it does make a difference for the entire year doesn't it yeah again it's it's called it's about setting the tone it's about getting you know the little bit of that rust from the offseason like man football it's been a while since we were back out here so you get to hit somebody else you've been hitting your own teammates for for weeks and weeks and weeks now you get to hit a Stanford Cardinal and you get a win to boot yeah fun to do that 34-27 the frogs get it done here uh tonight over the Stanford Cal as we mentioned it wasn't perfect uh but it was good enough and you saw some new faces uh as part of this group that we we thought we'd see and Jack bash is not one of those he was a guy who has been big uh last year for the horn frogs comes up big again this year and what a night he had did Jack he along with Savon and JP Richardson Jack Bish finishes with six catches 139 yards and a touchdown and the Three Amigos essentially Jack uh were big here tonight all three of you at wide receiver uh you were able to get open you made some big catches and then the yards after catching this ball game you could tell that you guys had really focused on that in the offseason to improve on it yes sir 100% let me just start this off by saying all glory to God man without him you can't do anything but with them you can do all things you know that's one of the things I've been focusing on my face side on the you know outside of football so I feel like that really helped give us the edge tonight all of us but yeah you know we've been working super hard we had a great fall Camp we've had great practices leading up to this you know our team we can be really good you can't win them all without winning that first one and you know we weren't that disciplined tonight and we still found a way to get a dub so you know once clean up some things we going to be a team to be dealt with Jack walk us through that last touchdown Drive where this thing was really clicking on offense and it it seems like you had Stanford befuddled uh you sort of tightened up the formations you ran different plays out of the same formation that were all successful talk about that last drive and how good it was man the last Drive everybody was clicking who was clicking he was getting the ball to the guys and you know we took over that's what we do um you know we got the best coaches out here in the country and um n like we said coaches call great plays and we were catching the ball we were getting open and we were had a bunch of yak and then that last play of the game he jumped inside I had a corner route and you know like I said just all glory to God man for the opportunity and to be able to come out here and get this first up Jack man Marshall new house here uh he had a great game man talk to me about the mentality you guys have been building after bad things happened JP with the fumble ho with the with the fumble uh down in the red zone and you guys seem to keep bouncing back no one's head dipped on the sideline talk about that a little bit stay levelhead and stay gritty you know it doesn't matter if it's good if it's bad it doesn't matter what's going on the game you got to be you know you got to be steady at one at one emotion the whole game you can't get too high uh too low you just got to come out here play every play good or bad and you know keep going and that's what we did tonight and like I said got the dub and now we get to go home hey by the way a lot of folks you guys knew this but a lot of folks didn't know how good cam cook was going to be I think we found a running back here Jack hey like I said immediate day that that was one of the guys I told to watch to watch out for you I mean he's a dog yeah whenever we can Pound That Rock And we got the receivers we got to be able to get open and who back here slinging The Rock like I said we're going to be dangerous Jack bash a lot of fun tonight congratulations man yes sir thank you have a good night there he goes Jack bash the wide receiver for the horn frogs finishes with six catches 139 yards and a touchdown in this one his yards after catch 54 yards Marshall he got the ball in his hands and it looked like he was trying to inflict pain after that like he was he was seeking out a little contact couple stiff arms but then the speed he was away and he just you could tell he wanted more and more and more he was asking for the ball on the on the on the edges on the sideline uh we got if he's your third receiver if he's your third receiver you like what you see here yeah yeah you think about the the play that he did that the the job that he did and at wide receiver there's a guy Jack B who kind of knew you were going to be able to count on him then there are new faces it's started to arrive for this group and especially on defense obviously Andy aalos the new defensive coordinator has been able to put together uh you know this new plan uh that allows some guys to really Excel we saw that tonight Cooper McDonald was one of those we saw uh J Travis Bron and lamaran James at cornerback but Devin deal as well who joins us right now uh the junior out of El Paso the transfer from tlane Devon it it feels like this defense was made for you and your game pretty good first outing for you yes sir it was a lot of fun getting out there with the boys TCU and everything different colors and there just a few plays I look to the left I see my brother right there so it was it was a fun game we got a lot to fix but I'm glad we got out here with a W it's fun playing for frog Nation yeah and it felt like the second half especially you guys really cranked it up a bit you know you were playing with a lot of energy early on as a defense there were couple of mistake couple of penalties things like that that happened but in the second half you really started to dial it in yes sir I think it I think it was this first game you know we talk about being tough physical and discipline and I feel like we did the first two the whole game but we go to be we got to really emphasize the discipline part A lot of times killed them killed uh killed our own selves with the with the plays that we're making but give them credit for taking advantage of it they got some points early and then I think we really locked in so I'm excited for what come what's to come hey Devon this is Marshall new house man great game um we've been talking a lot about defensive coordinator Andy os's system I explained a lot on the broadcast about simulated pressure tell me how much you enjoy as a pass rusher getting to get these different looks you're standing up you're inside over the guard you're outside over the tackle talk to me a little bit about these different looks that coach Avalos is dialing up I mean this is awesome like you said it's really manipulating the offense we we get big on big and slides and just they can't they can't just te up the same slideing protection makes them think and then like you said it gives us a chance to showcase our our different attributes on different people guards AR always used to seeing us the tackles aren't used to seeing the Big D tackles either so it gives them different looks and gives them a lot to prepare while we we can just go out there and play Deon it'll be a late night early morning getting back to Fort Worth obviously but this win sure does make that ride home a little e here doesn't he oh yes sir I'm going to enjoy the flight back all right congratulations Deon thank you appreciate you that's Deon deal getting it done uh at defensive ENT along with Cooper McDonald he that combo is going to be pretty special I think all year long Devon deal uh the junior uh transfer from two lane making a difference here early on for the horn frogs all right Sunny Dy still to come highlights from this ball game news and notes as well we'll get into that as the wrap-up this one on the road here tonight TCU gets the victory over the Stanford Cardinal 3 4 27 brogs over Stanford to go to one and0 on the season couple of notes in this ball game Josh Hoover had a great start and a great finish Marshall he began the game with eight straight completions and when you needed him the most we talked about that final drive with Jack bash he ended the game by connecting on six of his final seven passes we talked earlier in the game before about him just taking what was there and yeah he didn't have a lot of touchdowns but he had a lot of yards he got the ball in his playmaker's hands he had the one fun which you you chocked that up to just the first game Jitters a little bit a little miscommunication but all in all he took care of the football he put TCU in a chance to score almost every drive he ends up with over 350 yards passing which didn't feel that way really did it I know 28 of 42 353 and two touchdowns you can win with that yes you can in a sloppy game you'll win with you'll take that every every week yeah and his Trio of Savon Williams Jack bash and JP Richardson they were well they were good tonight 23 of the 28 TCU receptions that's 82% they had 34 of the 42 TCU targets that's 81% they had 331 of the 353 TC receiving yards that's 94% they call both touchdowns The Three Musketeers were big time tonight you're really you're pushing that three muskete thing I got to come up with something better but it's so easy we'll Workshop it yeah we'll get you something yeah exactly tcu's defense got stinged here by the way on Cardinals third down play Stanford by the way if you remember go back they started three of five on third down in this ball game but converted just two of their last last 10 the adjustments made by Andy alelos and this staff are pretty impressive the first game out of the year whether it's college or Pro we call it there's there's this level of UNSC outed looks yes things that you just don't see on film because especially from year to year thing so many things change so you know there's going to be some stuff that you've never seen before and that's why sometimes offense and defense is a little slow to adjust but again the half adjustments the ons side line adjustments the communication all that stuff matters especially in this first game TCU obviously got in this player's ears about keeping Ashton Daniels in the pocket about how they were ratcheting up the coverage on the outside about running and vice tackling as I talked about they were doing things step by step even through mistakes even through you know rough things in the game that happened they were adjusting and getting better and better and better yeah and and when a direct result of that by the way was the frog's average starting field position it got much better as the game went along the first quarter they started at their own 25 in the second quarter they started at their own 32 in the third quarter they started at their own 41 and in the fourth quarter they started at the Stanford 43 that was the average starting field position wow that is called the game within the game if you kind of feel like things are slowing down you punt when you know you should probably punt sometimes you're aggressive but over the course of the time that Arbitrage gets you better starting field position more opportunities to take shots TCU played that long game on top of trying to score and do the things they need to do and they come out on top because they get to start closer to the End Zone it seems obvious yes but over time the team that does that normally gets more scoring opportunities all right the horn frogs win this one 3427 tonight to go to 1 and0 on the season Sunny dkes joins us from the TCU locker room it's player power five team on the road at their place in a night game you walk out of there with a victory it feels good and I thought your team especially in the second half really showed some well showed these fans what this thing's going to be all about it's going to be a lot of fun this year yeah yeah I think so I was man I was really proud of those guys for battling me we we we made so many mistakes we kind of we had opportunities to pull away we just couldn't make enough plays or couldn't not make a mistake and and Stanford did a great job of hanging around and hanging around and hanging around and hanging around and then put a drive together and took the lead and really proud of our guys for answering back with two two touchdowns and you know it's like I told them afterwards look when we had to get stops we got stops on defense um and I mean we played incredible in the third quarter I mean that was an amazing defensive performance in the third quarter uh but when we needed to get stops at the end of the game we got them and we need to score touchdowns we got them and proud of those guys for doing that we got a lot of stuff to clean up a million things we can do better typically as you said when you play against a good team on the road uh and you make the number of mistakes that we made tonight you don't normally win so it says I think it says a lot about this team coach Marshall new house here congratulations nice first win uh we saw a lot more PR simulated pressur from uh defense coordinator Andy os's uh calls what was going into this game did we have an idea of of Ashton Daniels and the things he could do and how we would kind of contain him yeah yeah we did and and you know knew that he was gonna a big part of their offense was going to be him you know making plays with his feet you know running quarterback draw emptying the you know emptying the the the the Back Field out and you know giving him chance to run draw or to try to break the pocket and break contain and either throw the ball or scramble and he had a couple of big runs and you know got us on a couple of quarterback draws but as you said overall when when you know when we had to we got pressure we got sacks we put them in some third and long situations you know the first drive of the game we had them in two third and 15 pluses and we let him out um you know twice because of penalty and that's the kind of stuff that we just can't do we can't we can't you know allow them to to get those first downs and go down to score like we did and then you know when we get the turnovers on their side of the field we got to do a better job of scoring we missed a short field goal um you know we we drove down and um and turned the ball over you know inside the 10 yard line which we can't do so as I said typically when you make those kind of mistakes you get beat but credit our players you got to give stanf for a lot of credit let me say this I mean that was that was a completely different defensive scheme than what we saw last year um they did a really good job of of putting their players in a position and giving them a chance to be successful and win a game and you know hats off to to their coaching staff coach talk to us about your wide receiving core really The Three core guys here tonight you got 11 receptions from Savon both Jack bash and JP go over 100 yards and it was a yards after catch that really made a big difference in this game I thought yeah yeah I did too I mean we you know Jack played outstanding you know he he played a position he doesn't normally play we moved him we moved him to the right outside receiver he's normally been an inside guy for us we had a couple of guys that got banged up right at the end of fall camp and made a move with him and you know the reason we did that is because we when he has opportunities to make plays he always does you know he's just battles he competes he's in the right place at the right time the quarterback trusts him all the things that make a a receiver a great receiver uh he does them you know we dropped too many balls you know you go back and you look there was I bet we dropped five maybe six passes on the day so that's something that we don't normally do that we got to get fixed but thought thought Savon played really outstanding particularly early thought John Paul you know bounced back from the turnover that he had and and made a bunch of plays when he had to and you know I thought Josh did a good job of of taking care of the football and U and giving those guys opportunities to make plays coach there are multiple moments where things just weren't going our way uh talk to us a little bit about the the players and their ability to kind of self- coach self-regulate after mistakes that could Doom a team or you could spiral a team talk about how they respond and resilient yeah I think I think a lot of that Marshall was was just the confidence they had you know I mean they they've had a great we've had a great fall Camp a great week of preparation and I and they were ready to play and I think they knew that and I think there was no sense of panic even though you know we were making some critical mistakes and not executing at the level that we needed to you know they were ready and they believed in each other you know the defense believes in the offense and the offense believes in the defense and special teams were solid and you know all the stuff was was you know what it needed to be um uh and it wasn't like I said wasn't pretty but it gave us a chance and and we were able to hang in there and you know and again I think it just came from those guys the dedication the hard work and everything they put into it there was no sense of panic at all from those players on the sideline even though things seem to go seem to be going sideways at one point yeah you're gonna have to flash back now coach to your the English teaching days at Pi High School uh did I get that right want to make sure this is kind of the perfect teaching thing isn't it because you get a win you go on the road you get a win against a quality power five opponent here yet you get to go back and you get to teach this week a little bit too yeah yeah and I think our guys I mean that the great thing is the Players knew that I mean I think they all walked in the locker room they were saying the same thing is you know hey we're fortunate to win um you know we we did what we had to do to win the game now let's let's play better let's let's fix these mistakes and and play better because if we do you know I think this team has a chance to be a very good football team um you know I think can play with anybody if we'll go out there and play at a high level consistently and not beat ourselves and you know there were times tonight we beat ourselves we had we got them off the field Time After Time After Time or we're going to be in a third and long situation we had an you know a personal foul or something to keep a drive alive and when you do that the other team's going to capitalize and Stanford uh to their credit did and but again our guys our guys kept showing up and making plays all right one and0 congratulations thanks for the time tonight yeah no thank you glad to glad to to be here get a win and appreciate you guys all right 342 yeah there he goes travel safe home 3427 the final score TCU wins it here over the Stanford Cardinal we got a lot to do in the wrap up show still to come Dave sh's got all the highlights from this ball game it'll run down the numbers from this one scores some uh well what has begun to be a pretty exciting weekend of college football final thought from you though Marshall on this ball game it feels like as we talked about kind of the perfect storm here for TCU you get the win you get some teaching moments you get a week to you know against Liu Brooklyn a team or not Brooklyn but just Liu a team you should take care of uh you know it's kind of like okay this is how we sort of plan this thing to come together yeah these first games uh this is a challenging game I mean it's on the road a lot of teams you know they don't they don't look up to this Challenge and TCU took it on head on it wasn't pretty it wasn't perfect but again there's a lot to correct but you go home with the w you want to know you feel relatively healthy yes uh there's a lot to look look forward to I think this we got kind our own uh slot tonight on TV to Showcase things a little bit now the players can go home and get right uh a lot of positives to take from this game yeah I think it's all good right now for the horn frogs who are 1 and0 to start the 2024 season big thank you to our spotter Wayne Gossard our statistician Brian sper uh also thank you to Dave shook who's going to be back in the studio have all the highlights for you coming up next and sge you had the con our producer engineer was Kyle cross here on site Dave shook with be here late night thanks so much for staying up with us is the frogs Come Away with a win tonight 34-27 to open up the season on the road in poo Alo against the Cardinal from Stanford time now for the postgame rewind as we take a look back at all the biggest moments from this one it was a first half marked by mistakes for the horn frog and it started on the opening drive as they committed three personal foul penalties two of them coming on third Downs giving the Cardinal 45 free yards as they got on the board with a touchdown after a 13-play drive they AE up over six minutes of that opening quarter frog offense though one of the best in the country a season ago and brings back a number of weapons from that team they came out firing on their opening drive as well Josh Hoover hooking up with Savon Williams five times in a thiram play Drive of their own to open the game it was that fifth one that got the frogs on the board in this game third down third and goal at the five the horn as C cook in the back field standing to his left two receivers to the left one right Bron trying to answer the early score for stord snap back for H with pressure for the edge throws it in the corner and he catches made touchdown saon Williams able to haul it in his first one of the Year fifth catch of the drive for Savon that connection is going to be big hit the horn here early on as the prags answer the Stanford score it's now 76 game at seven a piece as we came to the end of the first quarter but it was the Cardinal who capitalized on a TCU mistake to retake the lead as JP Richardson committed the first turnover of the night following the football while fighting for extra yardage after a pass from Josh Hoover that put the Stanford offense back on the field deep in plus territory and then facing a fourth and goal from inside the TCU 5 it was back quarterback Lon who his first TD pass stand for a 14-7 lead with just about 9 minutes to play before the half and then after the two teams traded goals to make it 17-10 in favor of the home team TCU had a great opportunity to tie the game before the half but a mishandled exchange between Hoover and cam cook deep in Stanford territory resulted in the second turnover for the frogs kept it a seven-point deficit as we went into the locker room at halftime second half started more promising for TCU as they burrowed deep into Stanford territory but then a drop pass on third down by Savon Williams forced them to settle for a 42 ydd field goal from Kyle lemmerman to cut the defit to four at 17-13 then after the TC defense forced a Stanford punt on the ensuing Drive frog offense came back on the field and it was Jack B that put the frogs into position to grab their first lead first down there two receivers to the right one on the left hand side Hoover out of the gun one back in it's cook F to cook the throw it over the middle got a man Jack bash 30 25s a tackle at the at the to the down the one reaches out and they get there he got close to the two yd line Jack bash gets C it'll bring up first down and goal at the two great after catch for the LSU transfer 43 yards on the catch and run for Jack bash part of a monster second half for him as Josh hoover then to push the pile into the end zone two play as L put the frogs in front at 20- 17 as we reached the end of the third quarter they saw the frogs out gain Stanford 123 to 24 and it looked like the Frog defense was continuing to tighten their screws on the Cardinal in the fourth quarter holding on a fourth and five from the Stanford 40 giving TC great field position and a chance to take full control of the game but after another key drop on third down the frogs came away with no points after a high snap resulted in lman pushing a 39 yd field goal attempt wide to the left that kept the Frog Advantage at just three and the net missed opportunity proved to be a huge turning point in the ball game as Stanford took advantage of that sixth personal foul penalty in the game against the frogs ignited an 11pl 79 yd Drive capping a Oney capped by a one yard touchdown from Justin Lamson as Stanford ret took the lead at 24 to 20 with under 7even minutes left to play in the game and then with the game hanging in the balance at that point and this one possibly getting away from the horn frogs staring at the possibility of a second consecutive opening weekend loss frogs responded with their best Drive of the night as Josh Hoover put the team on his back leads TCU on an eight playay 74 yd drive that ends with Jack B Landing a knockout blow for the frogs tied into to the right in this formation two receivers left ho takes the snap looking airs it out deep ball left side catch in the corner touchdown hit the in by Jack B and the Frog go up 2624 with 33 to play extra point would make it 27- 24 frog defense then would force a quick three and out putting the Cardinal back to the wall with a facing a fourth and long frog defense Stands Tall though gets the ball back with the TCU offense and then cam cook puts a bow on this one two receivers run two backs in they're going to hand it off this time here's cam looking for up at five 432 the defender into the touchdown TCU hit the cook scores this point from Seven yds out and the frogs go up by nine now 3324 wow stord would pull three points back there in the closing moments but ultimately that those two touchdowns in the span of just under two minutes puts the frogs up and they win this one here today 34-27 as they start the season off right out on the west coast with a 34 4 27 win over Stanford to move to 1 and0 on the season that's our postgame rewind before we go to break though we'll take a look at some of the final numbers from this one as well TCU out gaining Stanford 465 yards a total offense to just 281 for the Cardinal 353 of those coming in the air for Josh Hoover and the horn frog offense while Stanford just picking up a measly 165 yards through the air after a miserable start on the ground in this one as the frogs only had about 26 yards of offense uh rushing in the first half and we're averaging less than two and a half yards a carry put up about a 100 yards of offense on the ground in the second half finishing with 112 total yards averaging 3.6 yards per carry and likewise Stanford really struggled on the ground after a good first half finishing with just 116 yards on the ground after 100 in the first half and seeing their yards per carry drop from over four and a half down to just 3.2 for the ball game third Downs TCU really good in that area eight for 14 in the ball game missed on their one4 down attempt Stanford meanwhile after a three for five start on third Downs in the ball game managing just two for their final 10 including two for five on fourth down so five of 15 overall were the Cardinal on third down penalties really hurt the horn frogs in this one we mentioned it six personal foul penalties seven total for the game totaling 100 yards while Stanford played a relatively clean game just four penalties for 19 yards in this one turnovers two of them for the horn frogs both of them coming in critical moments only one of them though resulting in points for the Stanford Cardinal so two turnovers for seven points Stanford just one turn over leading to a field goal for the horn frogs time of possession almost exactly right down the middle 30 minutes 15 seconds for TCU 2945 for the Cardinal and then some of the individual numbers we talked about Josh Hoover 28 of 42 throwing the football 353 yards three total touchdowns two in the air one on the ground cam cook after a slow start in this one really picked it up in the second half 20 carries 81 yards and a score and then Jack bash what an afternoon for him an evening for him I should say six catches 139 yards and a score one of two receivers in the ball game with 100 plus yards in this one for the hornn frogs and then defensively Jamal Johnson led the way with 10 total tackles for TCU and then on the other side for Stanford it was Ashton Daniels who did the majority of the work in this one as the starting quarterback completed 17 of 35 for 163 yards and a touchdown as well as that one interception also was the team's leading rusher carrying the ball 17 times for 89 yards in the loss for the Cardinal here today L like AO Manor finishing the uh game with as the leading receiver for the Cardinals seven catches 102 yards then Gan bardell finishing with 10 tackles including one behind the line of scrimmage on defense for Stanford so let look at the postgame rewind as well as some of the final numbers from this one TC football brought to you by Orange Theory Fitness Orange Theory let's turn it up are you ready for the
