for grecki and [Applause] [Applause] J I think we're missing someone actually did you guys bring is Nathan back oh he was with us but Rosco wasn't finished with him so once r finish with Nathan or Montgomery we'll be back Nathan's on a for Sal yes sees his love but we have two extra special guests in place we have Sarah who plays [Applause] [Music] egg get her come on Sarah the infamous Team Ed by Jason Jason here he comes hi guys thank here thank you for having us I see like we're just here we were just here like 6 months ago I know and you had pins and there was a whole crowd yes many people here hardcore Trilogy fans well actually I wanted to ask about that how many people here have already seen the film nowhere never seen no for tree how many people have seen nowhere um on a big screen theater or at the Academy Museum or theater theater theater and you're back already we love it anyway I was just um we're so fortunate to be able to show this restored version um of no because both nowhere and doom you know they lived on for was 26 years old and he was 28 years old and they lived on um on the basis of the shiest copies imaginable literally cringe to think about people watching them um Noah was never even released on DVD in the US because it was line just Vision one Brothers don't get [ __ ] like weird in the art movies and so um people have been asking me for literally decades every time I do a q& when coming out whenn coming out one day one day and then finally finally um the rights reverted from new brothers and we were able to um get the rights back and me and my friend Marcus he was so generous and kind enough to arrange for us to do this restoration which um Noah was kind of censored in 1997 by the NPA there's a few scenes in it um that had been restored in this version and it makes me very happy because um there's no real like sex J B A few times but it was cursing yeah they never the characters never say sh or F I had this thing I remember telling Andrew spon producer after d generation D generation was supposed to be like xrated and like super out there and super kind of crazy but um no make a pg3 14y old 15 olds and so I purposely wrote the script and I had this this kind you'll see the kids talking this kind of weird slang or they never it seems like they're saying [ __ ] [ __ ] but they never say [ __ ] [ __ ] and go but so we had this whole plan and then the mpa um I was actually I remember being in Spain at a film festival and I got an urgent fact from [ __ ] this guy fin line you have to cut all these scenes like we just got an xrated from the I'm xrated this is supposed to be p13 so to get our R rating they made to cut a bunch of stuff out and it was really um no whole scenes but stuff got really kind of toned down and especially um for people who seen the movie before the Shad character and the Lively character played by Ron and hea gr they absolute hottest they um they they're kind of just sexually charged kind of crazy characters and um a lot of their scenes kind of got were just too hot to handle I think for the so anyway that's all been restored was really so Overjoyed about that and we were also able to recolor time home from the camera negative we remixed everything so um there's like 50 songs in nowhere and some of the best bands of that period and you literally could not hear at least half the music in the original Mi I don't know why and so it's been remixed you can hear all the music you can hear all the crazy dialogue and it's just yeah it's also just like whole mie so I'm so thrilled that there's a version of nowhere now so after I'm like you dead and gone like new generation and nowhere can live on for generations and a good verion yeah that was a long introduction is that the answer to a question the easiest time I've ever had up here stay away no I mean you have an incredible incredible cast in this film of whom even some that you just mentioned like went on to have these just insane careers in their house end doing Bo nights right after this yeah exactly and and so I'm curious sort of a question for all of you how much of those characters came from your casting process and meeting the people and going oh you can do this versus what was on the page it was a pretty extensive it was really everybody not mat Hoy player and I mean we had this thing where I just met like every like every young act that out the time and um the first meeting was actually there was no lines or anything it was literally just like kind ofing people and just g a sense of what just what they're like and kind of just you know sort of just feeling like if there was chemistry there and if they sort of going to fit in sort of because I had a kind of specific idea for all the characters and it was at a long for a long time it's kind of a mix match you know who's going to be who and who's related to who like like now and zero brother sister so that affected that so there was a lot and and so it wasn't until like the second or third I think second call back I started to think okay this person could be maybe a ducky or maybe you know like you sort of were thinking of the characters they could play and um people sometimes came in and like multiple Parts but it was many Dash came after she was R toel but um yeah so this it was a long process but um but yeah obviously super fantas cast about for you Sarah and Jason I mean what was it I imagine different for both of you but coming into your roles and taking on these sort of archetypes caricatures whatever you want to call them what was that process like for both you um I don't know how to answer that um I just remember I had to cry a lot and and the lighting was taking a really long time and I Grand tears and I came to you I don't have tears I almost but I had and I found tears but but it was a long day I remember after we saw the so moved by that we can't give any spoilers away people haven't seen there's a scene in the end of the movie where something bad happen I was just very very um always just so excited that I got cast in this amazing film and thank you so much Greg and the fact that you know people still care about it um all these years later is just so amazing so even at the time it felt like it was such a huge cast and it just felt like oh I'm part of like the cool club for a minute like it was it was fun it was a big crew of us so that we get to relive it now what so proud about the movie is that it's kind of people my you see an ens movie and everybody kind of looks the same and feel the same you can't I mean honestly that's what my P about before I remember I can't tell one and like this this cast all of them so parts of so characters but they all pop and they all stand out and all meable it's it's really a testament Fant and we had some interesting people for coming for the ti with Jason seemed to stand out well I didn't come in I just I just cup yeah remember that meeting are you sure everybody all the cast when Jason came in when he came was just like the characters the movie like oh my God that like we couldn't believe you feeling you were the biggest show in the world at the time it was insane yeah and like you graced us with your pres so he's so shy I don't want to give any spoilers away for the people seen the movie yet but um I had a question for Jason and sah you guys have so many um did you guys rehearse it all together or was it just allason to I just there for n months afterwards yeah it's interesting they're good friends now but it's like their seeds together you'll see they're quite intense and um sometimes I have actors kind of break off and you know they kind work together I thought you guys had so many long no no he wouldn't talk to me what you saw is what we did works so well for the movie because you guys are so fresh with each other you know that Dynamic we had lunch the day before hi Jason I'm Sarah remember like that last scene and sometimes that works great and sometimes it's really more fun to like fresh on the and just like here we are passion like [ __ ] here we go so yeah thank you [Music] um I'm watching know El but so Craig and James you were here last for the Doom generation and I ask you a question then I'm going to ask again to all of you because I think it's a fun game to play with your films okay and I would love if each of you can remember do you have a favorite oneliner or or quote from nowhere El um one that GRE I quite I don't want to steal it from I'm sure I really love the scene when Nathan is talking TOA talking after talking about how the whole world's going to end like you want today Thursday she tells the whole like I better get back to [Music] class but that I better get back to class and well I guess two another one I really love is when well I can't say anymore because I'm going to spoil it but I'll just say I better get back to class all right all right you'll see it when you watch the movie oh I just like it when um hug bunny I used that a lot but I thought it was I didn't realize when we watched the Academy I thought it was um munari's character that said that line and then when I saw it Oh my God it's um Elvis and the way he says it CU he's soan and then he says I should not saying my lbody no spoilers like I can't I like when Jason says it's so hard to be a celebrity so interesting that 199 celebrity culture has done so much worse since then but literally he's talking about being celebr well an an actor sometimes you get these lines it's such a joy when you get a line that you fall in love with and I know one of my lines that I love most i' rather mys burned off with my armpit I would do about you [Music] I all right well I want to open it up to this amazing crowd here does anyone out here have a question for this pan especially people haven't seen movie yet it doesn't have to be about nowhere just just anything just about life right um people in always wi the contest and they always get question for Greg what um in term more recently what can we uh look to in terms of your wonderful work what's what's next that question what's next or even what's what's sort of recent years um well I'm I'm working on a couple things right now I'm working on a and also a TV thing um so uh hopefully something soon now that the writer strike is finally over and hopefully the actor strike will be over soon and go back to but um yeah I hope to be something within the next year so I mean both doom and nowhere I was talking to somebody about today interview like um I've loved doing Restorations but it's been a lot of work it's been really been being post and then like being you know marketing and doing a bunch of interviews and going out and doing personal appearances in New York San Francis um it's should been a lot so I'm looking forward to some new so fingers [Music] cross and any of you what's a movie that you've seen recently that with you Barbie I was just in New York don't say alimer the the last literally last movie I saw I loved it had a great effect me I was very fortunate to be New York we catch and he got it he got in on my ticket you guys have answer the last one I saw was [Music] nowhere did you see the Netflix version or you know there movie called nowhere it's like literally like number oh yeah no I saw I saw that yeah no the theater my never seen movie all right someone in the back I see a hand way in the back row you right there I was just curious uh out of like the entire Keen apocalypse trilogy specific moment shooting like sticks out the most to you funny story or just just because we're here for nowhere I mean I'm GNA have to say the last shot of the last day Unforgettable but no spoilers but um yeah there's a there's something that happened to the thing and it was literally the last day shooting it was it was like the 22nd hour hours we had been shooting for so [ __ ] long and literally I remember andw she would just call it and come ask tomorrow I'm noday didn't we do a little kind of vote and everybody goes noera guy fell asleep on the doll we pushed on and I'm glad we did because I don't think we could have come back and done anymore but yeah i' s say that that's a funny funny story but there every is full of funny stories great experiences all right I'm gonna take one more white shirt back there white shirt all right um this is more of a question for make this one a good question pressure on okay we one I saw an interview where you said that all of your films especially your early films really encapsulated like where you were at that time what you were feeling thinking and I guess um my question is how do you like find that Clarity or the objectivity to be able to like articulate that and create these really epic films imbued with that uh feeling it's just kind of always my Approach that um you know I just always approach my movies particularly these the team po the90s it was just very like not autobiographical but it was just really dredging up and expressing so much about how I saw the world and things I felt and and just you know sort of a lot of my angst and a lot of my confusion and um they just kind of It kind of came out through all the characters people always oh the Jimmy character you know I'm actually like I think all the character like they're all kind of a part of me um except for the teen but so it's you it all just kind of came comes out and it's like weird I don't I can't really describe where it comes from because it's like I remember writing the last scene of nowhere in insomnia Cafe like 1:00 in the morning and it literally just came out like I don't know where it came from and the same with the sort of climactic fight in nowhere it just the IM what I I just kind of have a movie playing in my head I'm just kind of wrt and um yeah it just kind amazing before we wrap up one more she's got really important question back there likeing last question how much of the visual aspect of like the worlds you create do you come in you see it in your Noggin already beforehand before you get there how much comes it's about the visual design the movie it's really all in my head like um so much of it is the DPS I work with and production designers and the costume designs they're they're great collaborators and they always give me so much back I remember um for instance eggs Mar she she has this kind of flower Motif that's in my ol saw kind of dainy pretty thing so her dress has import flowers for flowers flowers so you know we s kind of come up with these General ideas but you know the amazing artist that work with new generation and P pesta they really just kind of take the I remember black just wild just made it happen like hand painting like ash trays and like literally doing it all my hands the bar too she yeah I mean and these these are a low widget movie so they have to kind of pull off these small Mir that I don't have it but I it's all very specific in my head just to interject really quick really quickly Greg's script is actually available so you can you can read it and it's entirely exactly the way Greg wrote it after you watch the M I think his scripts are works of art and themselves you'll see a lot of it is in the script theone I think it's on I got I have the hard cop but I was not about to scan I yeah yeah I have the envelope Hees I used to make covers old days paper SCS cover on the skull anyway well we do have to get the show on the road all you are excited to see before do that I just want to I see gifts here unfortunately the people who haven't seen the movie you can't play this game or you can try we have a few I think I made these special collector sets buttons four buttons sign and they all have you ask about quotes they all have a quote from movie this one says it's been a gnarly day it's a line of Jimmy has that's what you said to me would pick you up so um anyway we usually do these little trivia things to give them away the way you win is you have to be super loud the people in the front row always win because they're close super loud and raise your hand and like see get out question um what's the what should we ask um we've already talked about the alien tonight um okay what is the and theem okay yeah you okay Hur up what is what is the name of the slow beginning of movie [Music] Loud okay thank okay this is my favorite question so just asking the academy people can't answer because I think know um did you hear what happened to Marcus butle fell okay I came up with new questions the twins oh okay yeah what are the names of the the twins that M goes home with surf ski she said SE Sur Surf and ski surf I think Surf and ski is actually correct played by the bre okay I think this is the last one okay again what kind of car does Richard [Applause] Drive
