[Music] meet Texas Wesley head coach Brad shro in a short time his energy and dedication of inspired players and F alike he's quickly making his mark on the program focusing on student support both on and off the field coach Rod's great with the new coaching staff there's going to be changes and there's going to be different things that come with it but I feel like as a group we're right on track so we're ready to go coming from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he helped the road runners with several successful seasons shro is now stepping into his first head coaching role with the Rams It's been a true family experience and and uh We've enjoyed it this uh job has taken us to a lot of different places and seen a lot of different things and met a lot of different people so it's been an experience for my family and expose my kids to some things which is good as a former player yourself what do you think is going through the mind of your student athletes right now well I bet a lot of it's just like playing football right now and uh it's our job to make sure they stay focused on being student athletes my coaches had a real influence on me and uh along my mom and dad had they were my my mentors you know my role models and along with my brother and uh I just felt like I could do the same thing in that fashion as a coach you know I did work outside of football a year before I started coaching and I just felt uh I can give more to young people and help them navigate some things in life and and kind of be that Mentor for them to some people for me um I still hear from some of my former players today and um a lot of them say thank you at the time I was like coach I just didn't realize it at the time but thank you and that makes you feel like you at least have some part of their life and and did something right for them and but I'm proud of them too because they've gone off and done some successful things all right Brad this is where we make or break your time here at Texas Westland so no pressure hard-hitting stuff okay what's your favorite food my favorite food wow that's a good question I eat a lot of different things I love a variety of stuff uh always love a good Stak especially in the state of Texas you know coming from San Antonio I love having a great Mexican meal and uh but I just like variety of different things what's your favorite football player of all time oh wow that's you know I'm a Raiders fan you know North Carolina when I grew up we we won't hold that against no I'm a Raiders fan nobody's probably ever heard of him but like jum planket it's my like my my quarterback like my guy people going to have to Google that and see who he is I know who it is so that's a good choice okay [Music] if you weren't coaching what do you think you'd be doing uh probably teaching probably teaching my dad was a teacher my mom was a teacher at one time uh I think that was just kind of in our deal to to be mentors I mean you've been at some pretty important places where you played and where you've coached what do you see for Texas westling football well my goal is to build a program that lasts year in and year out so it's about recruiting the right guys doing the right things and just doing the right way and not trying to take shortcuts we want to build a program that develop young men to be servants in the community I believe if we do it the right way we'll build a program that wins year in and year out and that's really my goal at end the long-term goal for this program
