[Music] [Applause] [Applause] the teams are out in Portland Oregon from pin's Park a good one and a West Coast rivalry is Portland Thorns FC host Bay FC great to be with you Matt Peterson alongside Carmen boen both teams look a little bit different as the summer transfer window closes this weekend and second weekend back from the Olympic break and at the end of the day this is um you know coming to the point where you start adding and Counting every single number um coming into the last nine matches this one included is 20 27 points um to be played and you need to get it if you want to be in those playoff position uh bay was there not anymore and now they need to start winning and if they can do it away it's going to be interesting for them and we'll see if Portland can keep having this St Stadium as one of the places where they get the most points they have throughout both teams coming off a loss last weekend for Portland it was against Gotham and for Bay FC on the road at Utah Bay hosted FC Barcelona on Tuesday short turnaround for this road game in the Pacific Northwest yeah when when you talk about having such a long period without games you know due to the Olympics and and the break in general even though they compet in the um WSL Lei summer cup you're coming back you know and you want to win immediately and they didn't in that last match so now it's the point where Portland is back at home they're going to try to keep doing what they have throughout the season with uh eight games play here five wins only um two losses one draw so you know it it's important to get those points of Home mainly when you're just counting with two end you know the games that you still have to play to make it to playoffs [Music] Niger [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all of our [Applause] [Music] oans United States performed tonight by [Music] [Applause] inter room head coach Rob go with a very interesting lineup following that loss against Gotham he's made five changes to the team that lost two nothing most notably a new goalkeeper the Australian number one McKenzie Arnold and Isabella oay replaces longtime stalwart in the back Becky SAU BR at Center back yes I think that is one of the most impressive changes so far and if think about it with oase and pain it's three changes in that uh back line for the Defenders then in the Midfield of course s cfei and in front uh Sophia Smith both coming back from the Olympics uh the gold medalist by the way so uh it's going to be their welcome back so those are the five changes made today by Rob Gil to see if they you know maybe make a difference throughout coming the next matches in that back line and how can they um score uh receive less goals because it's been 20 22 so far this season very excited about Arnold's distribution and for Bay FC a busy week for albertine Montoya he's made three changes from the team that lost 2 to one at Utah last week aisat oshaa returns to the starting 11 she scored against Barcelona on Tuesday Abby doller makes her debut she grew up in the aisco bit area acquired in a trade from San Diego last week and Alyssa meanon takes the place of Savvy King who is down in Colombia at the u20 World Cup for the US and adding to King that of course is not um in the bench you do have Dana Castellanos a Venezuelan player um she's been in the starting lineup for a few now she's bench we'll see if she ends up getting a few minutes after and then Bey which is not even on the bench and those are the three substitutions you know one is made because of Savi Kim being out so you could say that two were made the attackers all season have been coed Ani and oshaa they start again tonight as oshaa came off the bench last Friday at Utah Friday Night Lights for the second straight week for Bay FC they will try and do it a little bit better this time around third game in eight days for Bay FC and maybe a little bit of a Changing of the Guard in Portland it's an interm head coach Rob Gale but he brings in McKenzie Arnold most expected this to happen although Shelby Hogan had started every game this season she's much less experienced from Mackenzie Arnold who came over from West Ham she started every game at the Olympics this year the World Cup last year but as you mentioned three changes in the back so the back five has four newcomers in this lineup for Portland at least keeping Raina Reyes I think the Mexican player she's really good from that Left Flank uh being able to position herself whereas in defense or just building up to the front she's a lot free in in some instances of the match and then you can play with those three in the back and then you have uh Kelly Hubley she's another staple I think from this uh um Portland lineup she's been playing in so many games uh this is her 13th start um I'm sorry 14th 13th start yes um and it it's clear she's becoming that you know good player as a central Defender you saw the sign for Emily Mangus 10 years in Portland 186 appearances here we go from Portland shant tahini is the referee and Thorns are in red BFC in the dark gray uniforms Harman boen what are you watching for early on in this one um you know when we talk about the difference between those two teams I think it's mainly creating attack like players with in t with it right so goals many goals and then Mangus wins it here that attack was thwarted can finish your thought what you're expecting from this one Carmen so from Portland um you know the the attack that they create they have 27 goals so far yes they have receiv received uh which is 22 not bad comparison with Bay FC that they cannot secure games and that's a big difference clip to the back post it's just Pas o shaal who lets it run she keeps it alive in the box and now she's just possessed that was a good chance for base FC and asisan oala osala and kangi are two of the players that I like the most throughout the nwsl they both came into this season to Bay FC and I think having them play together more it's going to be important for their com uh you know the communication between each and and how they can you know give back and forth they have three goals each and one assist each so you know it's they need to start getting more minutes together here's meus facing her former team that's Smith applying pressure in the channel throw in coming for Portland Thorns it's been an up and down season for Portland Rob Gil in his first season as the interim head coach there is his rival tonight albertine Montoya a busy time for Montoya he brings in a center back back to the Bay Area and Abby do Jer trying to figure out the rest of the squad Sai King is away in Columbia at the under 20 World Cup so mananan who's been pushing King all year starts with diasco but the bigger talking point in my opinion is on the other back line the two players that had pushed one another All Season Carmen at the right back position they both start today for the first time Nicole Payne and Raina Reyes Reyes is a Mexico National Team starter she moves from right back to left back as they play together on the outside back positions and I guess that's the reason why he left pay um in the right position because Raina is more used to switching back and forth but we'll see if Bane does the same thing clipped in and picked up well there Caitlyn Roland it's a UCL UCLA Brewing heavy back line now Roland doer and cabis Basco each played together UCLA they won the 2013 National Title together here's Smith back for coffee both Smith and coffee rested last week against Gotham in the road game a two- nothing loss they start tonight here's Reyes we will see this shift into a back three at times we talked with Rob Gail this week part of the broadcast call and he talked to about playing a back three on paper it's a back four but the back three is set up by the distribution of McKenzie Arnold they expect her to be a big weapon the Australian number one yeah she knows how to play and and put the ball coming forward so whenever you feel that you can attack more and leave one player whether is Raina Rees or Nico pay to get into the Midfield or into the attack you still have her so you can have that three in the back and and we'll see throughout the match how fast the rain and and pay can Trail back and form that for in the back there's Sam cofy third year with Portland Hur her foot right before the Olympics but recovered in time to play and have a starting role as the US One gold here's Rachel Hill had the overlap from daco [Applause] Hill back for daco another throw in here for Bay FC taken quickly shaala applying pressure now these teams met back in May in San Jose a 3-2 win for Portland crazy game right it started with linam scoring the first one then Smith at minute seven so it was was early for that 2-0 for Portland then kangi Castellano score and it was Smith putting the last one for the Portland [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this is TNT Sports time to put me on now put me [Applause] on Arenal are you ready oh we're ready James only sport can do this yeah put me on the work nobody put me on antiques Steelers Henry and Ed vaugh are rumaging their way across France I see old dirty things this is more sort of thing on Route they uncover Hidden Treasures just dig deep go in the dark areas get it bought enjoy brotherly banter everything works really well as long as I'm in charge and find Forgotten French fancies so this could have been in a Napoleonic War it's like it has been in a war to sell for profit back in the UK when the B's good you just got to grab brand new the Antiques Brothers starts Wednesday at 9:00 on Quest from inside the area from outside the box where Bay has only been two so you know they keep getting those shots from a distance but still not being able to score that much more good stretch to the leg from oshaa corner kick and it's cleared away backf for atasco Milan Dorian Bailey to the back post it's in maybe Bailey's goal if not it's for Rachel Hill unmarked at the back post it clipped in over McKenzie Arnold and Abby dollers celebrating with their new teammates Bay FC has a lead in Portland well you know this could be exactly what bay have imagined last time they fac each other at minute 7 they were already losing two nil and now they get the opportunity to score that one it was you know literally the back line and she just races really well against Hubley and it's abidal camper scoring her first one in her debut talk about that how about that do Kemper not Rachel Hill good for her the debut goal in her first competitive game the video assistant tonight aday Monroy is double checking that she was on side I like that that b is always you know checking making sure everything's right Abby hold it for just a little bit more and it's going to be what could have they said maybe a the goal is confirmed y her second on the season one with San Diego her fifth regular season goal and really some lack defending in two parts well you know if uh Rob Gale made those changes for it to happen he has to be you know Wise about it that it's happening coming into the last nine matches so it's not a nice moment to be uh creating those uh how do you say like friendly rivalry between the goalkeepers but as of now it's happening and we'll see how that makes sense for him coming into the last games Abby do CER born and raised in the Bay Area that cross comes from the right she grew up in Meno Park down the road from St Jose she went to Sacred Heart prep a soccer Powerhouse in the Bay Area before UCLA most of her success in the nwsl came on the East Coast with Western New York a North Carolina courage she won three nwsl titles there a few Shields she won her fourth shield with San Diego last year two years with San Diego and now her first competitive game with BFC she scores inside 10 minutes talk about scoring those goals from inside the box he was literally under the the goal Alexa spanu second game since her trade from Kansas City current it's coffee from dis s into the hands of Caitlyn Roland we've talked about you know Caitlyn Roland another great player another great goalkeeper 12 times you know defending the Portland goal and she's going to be proven to see what she can do in this one for Bay completely unmarked hard to track a center back in that part of the game Winer kind of a broken down set piece but she scored in her last game with San Diego she scores in her debut for Bay FC five in her career two consecutive games to the goal how about that the last game the weekend her last appearance with San Diego she scored in the regular season wow Milan up the fields with Rachel kadangi good turn of pace from kundi she stays on her feet with the little forearm shiver there for Nicole pay yeah and she's saying yes I did it was a little bit of a contact over there you know at the speed that she's racing you can always see that she receives the ball and she just goes with it completely it's hand in hand and then the little push in there what I like about kangi is she so always laughing you know she's always she always seems she's having the best time of her life in a game and you always want to see that here is doll keer the goal score she scored 90 plus 7 last week a set piece header against Angel City couldn't cancel the bracer Melissa Thompson so that was her final action for San Diego wave in the return from the Olympic break and then after the trade she gets back to the Bay Area and now in the Pacific Northwest she scores her first goal for Bay FC there's Olivia mtry coach Gale was asked by the Amazon crew Mike Watts Lance serson about the expectation from multra coming off injury he was very emphatic she should dominate she will dominate huge expectations for Olivia molt she had the most touches in the opposition box and the most shots on goal last week against Gotham yeah I think Olivia moldy ever since she came into the scene she's she's been big even though her age is not and and you still can see a lot coming from her Rachel Hill pulls inside Here Comes Tess B bod pulls it back and is pushed aside there by Reyes good tenacity and physicality here from Bay on the road and Portland breaks the pressure Smith let it run former national team rivals there do kerer Center back Smith a forward Smith recovers away to mtry mtry and on goal clearance from Mangus against her former teammate it's out to Jesse Fleming and bansan goes back to Caitlyn Roland and that's what we were talking about exactly about mold how capable she is of just putting herself you know coming from the from the Midfield and just going forward in a good position in that attacking third and and creating something you know she became the youngest nwsl player to reach 50 games that's a big milestone she's only 18 she's going to turn 19 so you know when you talk about her you feel like we've been talking about Olivia molter for a while and she's only starting so she has such a bright career in front of her good win from hin sugita back for Fleming Portland down a goal at home it's clipped in and handled by Roland it came from Kelly Hubley Kelly Hubley the only Defender that kept her place from last week's game against Gotham this could have been all planned going into that game you know change things up for game two but I think it's a response to the performance away from home coming off a big six we break well it has to be you know you you need some something that makes a difference they want to be in the first positions not only number five you know and they were there early on the the regular season after the substitution and and Rob Gale coming in here Cena so early ball she expected the run from Smith it's won by Mingus and space here for Alysa malanson from Spring Texas she played at Auburn aot oala is Central kunda nji is crossing it was deflected and it's kept in play there by McKenzie Arnolds this is again the the contact the hand no this was the second chance that they've been clear just playing that way throughout just a big part of the season um coach alberty Montoya mentioned a lot that he wanted his team to come playing from the back and and moving forward but lately they do play a lot of Counterattack and they have created good Chances with that you know you have two fast players like gualla and Ki take advantage of that well he talked before the game against Utah right up to the Olympic break about their season now six and 11 he wants to play attacking football he wants to play attractive football but he goes we're in the thick of the playoff race the end of The Season's about results we don't need to win pretty we can win ugly if need be have to be a little more pragmatic good pressure it's on for Smith she's in on goal good clearance Mangus against her former teammate Sophia Smith wow that was a big save for Mingus 33 years old she's just a player that knows how to exactly take the ball from a good attacking player like Sophia Miz without any problem Joel CER out of the Backus one of the faces of Portland during her 10 seasons she was best 11 in 2016 three time second 11 she's one two and WSL titles both with Portland she won two shields in the Rose City 186 appearances 179 it's a starter for Portland nine playoff games with the [Applause] thorns and this is the first time coming back after leaving for this season has to be memorable right we said our former college coach from Georgetown said you need a new challenge you're comfortable sometimes too comfortable and at this point in her career it felt like the right move yeah trying to launch an expansion team under albertine Montoya with the big expectations from [Applause] ownership and she'd always been surrounded by big names Internationals players like Christine Sinclair like Sophia Smith like Becky sabr next to her now she is kind of the leader of this backline with BFC and what a start it's been they look completely different than last week at Utah on the road here in Portland I I know and it's their second match away so kund denji to the back post it's a second this time it is Rachel Hill unmarked off a great delivery from Rachel kund dangi Bay FC have two goals inside 18 minutes in Portland well def definitely this may be not the scenario that Rob Gil proposed for him coming into this match but yes the one that albertin Montoya wanted you know they they haven't had the ball that much but still whenever they do kangi put herself in a great position to assist Rachel Hill coming from that um Left Flank just being able to squiz in against Hubley and Raina Rees they couldn't do anything there and then McKenzie Arnold you know it's her debut you know at the end of the day it happens apparently they could be something the is checking it we'll see if the goal is allowed or not if it stands it's her first of the Season it will be her 16th of her nwsl career again a new look back four for Portland two right backs typically pushing for the same spot both starting Nicole pay and Raina Rees plus a new center back Isabella o just her seventh start of the season and Rachel H she hasn't been starting that much you know this is only her six start and the goal will be confirmed soon right we'll see she didn't start much in the regular season but she got a vote of confidence albertine Montoya started her in all three summer Cup games yes and and that's where exactly that he started to see what this team could do with her on the field cuz um they played three games they lost against San Diego and then they lost against Angel City and then they win the last one against GL America with Moro and Bailey's Smith's cross into the hands of Roland what a dream start for Bay FC a shortened week maybe extra motivation playing against what most consider the best team in the world in FC Barcelona they won the quadruple in Spain last year and Jonathan heraldez a friendly at home you cannot go to that game lightly so they had to treat it almost like a regular season game in terms of output and then after losing 5 to2 that game was 22 at halftime they have to travel up the coast it's a tough 8 days for Alber te Montoya in Bay FC but they have a two-goal lead in the first half away from home and and you know they did their merits against Utah they and kangi scored one they they couldn't do much more it was such an even game it could have gone for either side the different was the goalkeepers um but maybe Portland it's not about lacking because they if you review a lot of their Portland games they create a lot they have a lot of shots but maybe not scoring always and this is what's been happening throughout these first 20 minutes they've only had one shot and one shot on target so it's not much whereas B have had four and two On Target and the two On Target went to goals cuz clearly uh McKenzie Arn Arnold as for now she hasn't been at her best AFC known for its late dram goals first time in club history just this one season for Bay FC they've scored two goals in the first half so not a team known for its fast starts here in week 17 they scor twice in the first half for the very first time Albert Tona must be pleased he has a happy smile there the team known for its late goals from the 7 th minutes on Abby do Kemper in her first 130 League appearances scored three total goals she now has two goals in her last two for two different teams the setpiece goal last week 97th minute for San Diego Her Last Action for that team and then her debut goal inside of seven minutes here OSHA Wala into the middle it's left here t b and that one is saved unmarked Runners once again Bay FC is overrunning Portland at Providence Park and the thing is how fast they can get two three touches and they're there and then you leave a player that comes by herself bod just being comfortable coming from the back facing uh the goal getting that ball really fast and then getting that shot for can we add it as first Mackenzie Arnold save indeed she's had a busy first half she was unmarked completely Hy no I'm sorry Raina she does what she can like to see if she can intersect the ball but at the end well she actually deflects it a little bit maybe she ended up helping a little bit of McKenzie Arnold with the and Carmen fair to say five changes haven't worked so far for Rob Gil I mean this is a lot of changes from team with gold medalists coming back players coming back from the Olympics and defensively the tracking has been all out of sorts in that moment it was Tess bod closest to her was Alexa spancer another newcomer she was 10 yards trailing Bo yeah it wouldn't surprise me if Rob Gil makes a change in this first half uh but you know considering here's Sophia Smith and she is by Roland just eased into the box without much contest from Bay FC and a nice save with the near post here from Roland cuz if you think about it uh it's been a long time since you last played a match you know it's been at least what 20 days the final was playing in the 11th right August 11th yeah that was the final game or the 10th now my head is 10th two weeks ago Sunday on Sunday it'll be three weeks I think it was Saturday now let's not talk about my head I think it was uh Saturday 10 that they played that final game and you know tomorrow is going to be three weeks so it's a long time a free kick is one here how can Portland fix this throughout the first half a lot of in this 25 minutes we've seen a lot of effort from Sophia SM Smith trailing back to get those balls I think they need more players in the Midfield recovering balls and putting them on up for either ESP panra mol Tre or Sophia to be able to get them faster and we were talking about five changes but fastra she's she only has two games it's not like she's part of the team for like forever also so we could say that six changes that's a good point basically six and if you think about where the changes are oay has only started seven times including tonight yeah you have another player playing in a different position position in Raina Rees and Nicole Payne starting for the seventh time if you think about the regular Portland Thorns for this season that are in it is Fleming it is Smith it is sug and it is coffee and hubly so you would say five regular starters are on the field tonight for Portland one of those is playing a nice through ball here mol tree trying to unlock span straight i' askco will watch it out an unfamiliar scene for Portland down two at home inside a half hour yeah and this doesn't happen that much you know coming from the back uh you know from when conceding first any who uh Portland they have still been able to no they haven't win when they concede first they have lost six games and draw one they haven't win after conceding first so and when scoring first for Bay they have one three four lost three and draw none how will BFC hold this lead leading two they're pushing for a third they're they're the owners of the ball and that drives Portland you know a little bit not so so and you can see how how they have to find so much more trailing behind the ball offside flag is upasi Shala seventh minute goal from Abby doer under Bay FC competitive debut assisted by Dorian Bailey the first assist of the season and then Rachel Hill her first goal for Bay FC at all competitions and that was set up by Rachel kangi her second assist seventh minute goal for doll keer 18th minute goal for Rachel Hill [Applause] Sophia Smith does well it's 3v4 here for Portland Thorns Smith in in the feet of spanta she passes it through too far in front of mtry kept in by sugita wellan clears Alexa spaner made her debut last week against Gotham was traded from Kansas City current Here Comes mol Tre coffee too heavy on the ball for [Applause] sugita Sam coffee her 16th start of the Season her first since the [Applause] Olympics Rob Gil was asked about the summer break and how they worked on things he said it was tough at times sometimes nine players out six at the Olympics including McKenzie Arnold who is down in her debut not a good look for Arnold just 29 minutes into her debut for the 30-year-old from Gold Coast Australia o That's crat started all three games for Australia at the Olympics was up for FIFA best goalkeeper last year unbelievable run on her home soil to the semifinals they beat France in the quarterfinals made four saves and a penalty shootout against France and had four clean sheets last year Australia and McKenzie Arnold kept clean sheets against Ireland Canada Denmark and then France this is the Tactical board come out I love Rob for Rob Gale you know a lot of coaches come with the you know the the electronic devices but he just uses that and it's always so reassuring for us cuz we can clearly see what he's showing also and I think he was mentioning something about going up in those those flanks cuz he was moving just those players which I'm guessing is giving a little bit more of opportunity to to Rees and maybe switching something in the back I think we're going to see something different when they go back to their positions all those positional magnets looks like carman's home refrigerator with all the prek assignments and letters from school hey my refrigerator looks like that nothing wrong with that you got to keep all that paper from school organized somehow some way pictures and drawings and everything she's back on her feet that's weird that she didn't go maybe she doesn't know that she can do it like you know they take this minute and everybody goes there but she stay there Portland debut last year the player of the Season at West Ham team captain as well woman's Hammer of the year three time W League goalkeeper of the Year back in Australia 53 caps for her home country but the thing we heard most from Rob Gil about her ability is what she can do with her feet she's a great shot stoer we saw it against France four penalty saves at last year's World Cup she's done it at every level but I think more than the shot stopping the Way Portland wants to play Under robil she ignites that with her distribution skills but at the end of the day you know it's a position that it's really always you know more questioned cuz your debut you can like not touch a ball or not get any shots or not do good but if you're a goalkeeper and you receive two goals in 20 minutes you're going to be pointed you know the fingers are going to be pointed at you and she's coming from that pedigree that you just mentioned so I guess it's not the best feeling for her maybe that's why her face and you know her mood and maybe that's why she didn't even go to see what Rob Gil was saying bonan back for Mingus Roland unmarked in midfields Dorian Bailey really from the first minute Carmen this has been a dominant first half from Bay FC they're so good at having the ball and albertine was clear that giveaway from Roland right to Smith Smith's around Roland and has scored a huge mistake from Caitlyn Roland Sophia Smith has her 11th on the season and that is just what Portland needed this is clearly a goal from another game cuz uh if wouldn't if it wouldn't been this way and Roland making this can I say quote unquote weird mistake cuz I don't even know how it happened but when you have a player like Sophia's Smith you have to be so careful with your balls and and where where you know how many times have we seen this throughout she's clear she wants to um give the ball to um AB camper oh yeah Abal camper I think it was more of a loosing in between the communication between both of them and you know again she's a player that just coming maybe she didn't hear the voice or whatever she said oh and she did as much as she could to disallowed Sophia Smith to make a difference how Roland went from like a hero hero to a villain in this one still they up one goal right a huge mistake from Caitlyn Roland building familiarity with her former college teammate in Abby doller but as we're singing the Praises of AFC in a dominant first half really a gold truly given [Applause] away 11 on the season now for Sophia Smith two behind Tempa chinga of Kansas City Barbara Banda in second in the golden Bruce rate with 12 Here Comes Milan to the end line and her cross is handled there by McKenzie Arnolds she's not that sad anymore [Applause] Here Comes Smith Central Fleming goes down free kick she's fouled by Dorian Bailey and Bailey will be booked here and that's the other thing about a player like um Fleming you know she's capable of just putting herself in that situation when I I think she kind of forced the fall it's still there but it's such it's so lightly but that's when a player with her experience and knows how to sell it cuz you could have keep going there but she went for [Applause] [Music] it she didn't even end up falling she just went back up Bailey in the book free kick coming for Portland Thorns in front of the Rose City riveters fluming a regular with Canada at the Olympics in Paris Smith wants it it's about 21 yards from goal against Caitlyn Roland who might just be rattled a bit after that [Applause] mistake Smith looking for a second in as many minutes there's Smith through the wall and this one is handled nicely by Caitlyn Roland it wasn't bad by Sophia's me trying to get a free kick and score a goal and this is only starting you know we have so much time still for it was deflected right yeah off Tasco backas the game has gotten very interesting now Smith has now equaled her Golden Boot winning total from last season 11 goals the only thing is there's band now and tea chinga and tea chinga chinga on 13 Banda on 12 Smith on 11 three at the top of the Golden Boot race in the nwsl dco watches it run Rowan Portland 55 caps Now 23 goals for Sophia Smith so he has 43 goals now in her Portland career Alexis spanst scored a great goal against meloi Sundowns mid August in the women's Cup hosted by Kansas City and you know another thing with this goal is 399 goals for Portland one more and it's going to be the goal number 400 and they would become the first nwsl Club to score 400 goals in a regular season Smith had three goals two assists at the Olympics playing alongside Sam coffee hubly out of the back with Nicole Payne Here Comes Payne slips it through too heavy for [Applause] Fleming go pay from Birmingham Alabama played at USC we've heard from Rob Gila times this season Pain's brought on for her Pace Raina more defensive minded free kick is one here in Midfield by ois shaala so one more defensive minded and Reyes pain more offensive minded but Rob Gale starts both in this home game Following last week's two nothing defeat to Gotham Fleming had a goal two assists at the Olympics [Applause] fling's first year with Portland after four years at Chelsea doall keer with the restart it's another piece that she brings to this BFC side Mangus is good in delivery but doll keer on those awesome North Carolina teams years ago she would often take Corner kicks and set pieces so we know her distribution is very good yeah she's she's going to take advantage of that situation and and and impose herself in the team by doing so cuz she's done it for so many for so long with uh on other teams like San Diego so G with the big switch Mangus runs it down huge praise for H sug n gaale described her as the best player this season I think it's probably an addition to Sophia Smith if there would be at this day week 17 T slips it through a nice position there if at week 17 I can build a starting lineup for WSL this season I would buing us of each other without a doubt diasco steps [Applause] forward pain pushing forward think about the pedigree now for BFC with the addition of do keer so you have Mingus on the ball there she's been best 11 before and you have two previous defender of the years in the league do Kemper won the award in 2017 cabri stasco as a right back won it in 2021 so experience-wise it's one of the most accomplished bat fours in the league and maybe that's what they have been lacking you know not only that not scoring but receiving it's 30 goals that's a lot uh but still still you know aside from the matches where they receive a lot of goals we watch M on the early start now they've been better doing that in the back line T Kipper goes direct off the chest of ois Shala oby nearly caught a possession seventh start for Isabella oby's Nigerian descent from cing Denmark first year with Portland last year with Rosengard in Sweden and eight caps for Denmark there she is on the ball going back to the debutant McKenzie Arnolds [Applause] Reyes good Vision picks out Alexa spaner spaner tried the early ball and again that's the familiarity these players are new again rolling goes across the face of goal in front of H to find Aller inita has been playing a little bit more like up front than in the middle since you know that conversation that they had with uh Rob and they're trying to just populate as much as they can that meat field and see how they can recover and get those balls faster to put themsel into a good position in attack McKenzie Arnolds I always feel like Providence Park has such a great crowd here's Sophia Smith she's in Smith centers it for span dra so unselfish from Sophia Smith but the offside flag is up the gting what would have been span's first Portland goal and it would have been such a great goal and like you mention so unselfish from Sophia to just share that ball with span would have been important for her to get that first one uh we're going to see maybe just you know I don't oh coming from here of course yeah but you have the other player that's that fa that's so yeah certainly spaner does not look offside no maybe Smith on the initial ball play through but it's not so because she wants to the other player player falls down what what are you going to do see behind you that the other player is down sh tahini the referee that's the gray area right of the V Let's watch when it leaves the feet of huy where is Smith I don't think it's this one Smith or Mangus is Mangus keeping Smith on side after video review the call stands offside no goal outter Ray Monroy is the video assistant communicating there with Shan tahini yeah well now the only thing for Portland open is to see how they can get the possession and try to create good chances like that one you know putting themselves faster into the area and see how they can get that second goal that they won maybe before halftime nid ASCO [Applause] crosses coffee finds Fleming softball picked up there by Rachel kundin nji SE it's been goal on her competitive debut for the newcomer Abby doller assisted by Doran Bailey and then the 18th P goal oh here's another look and that looks like the right call you see the upper torso of Smith in offside position great camber angle there high above Providence Park well done definitely because the other it was a little bit more difficult to see but in that one that one was was perfect thorough J oh shaala pulls it back it's diasco back in the middle here comes malons on malons on to the end line harassed by Olivia mtry a little nutmeg there from alansan and mtry recovered well Fleming [Applause] all the way back to Arnolds pain Milan commits the foul against wtry they've been going on it all nights that time it's won by Olivia mtry had a slight knee injury before the Olympic break came back in the summer cup she's back to full health and huge expectations from interim head coach Rob G for mry as we see a minimum of 8 minutes will be added on here at the end of this first half incredible by the way I love Olivia mol tre's hair D today so cool [Applause] Rachel kund denji did well to win the brace two goals against Australia and against McKenzie Arnolds in the group stage of the Olympics a 52 lead for Zambia Australia came back for a 65 win here's Dorian Bailey to take this corner kick Tess B is near McKenzie Arnolds [Applause] here it is from Bailey strong headed clearance there from Bay back for Bailey alansan in the channel challenged by Fleming and a goal kick to Portland won by Jesse [Applause] Fleming Fleming made her candid senior national team debut age 15 11 years [Applause] ago here's Mangus back for Roland all keer is the constant outlet for Roland but they're not making that mistake again even though they have Ina suita just there trying to see if she can put any extra pressure here's Smith draws the foul foul by Kiki picket Smith wants to play [Applause] quickly and Carmen boen your thought so far on the first 48 minutes as pay pushes forward so cross comes in knee down by DOL keer she'll play out of the back with daco it's given to Reyes Reyes handled by picket Raina Reyes wide for pay and that's a good win from kund denji up to oshaa and a throw in for Portland um so you know maybe the reaction that bay needs you know coming into these last matches away seeing if they can get that point that they need to get back into the playoff position and then the reaction from Portland knowing that the thing that was hurting them was not being able to get the ball trailing behind it for at least 35 minutes was way too complicated and they stepped up and they score that first goal that came just a little bit from another game had the second round and probably opportunities for more like this here Smith onto her right cutting inside Again dispossessed by Capri Tasco Fleming shot is blocked by Emily meus and it falls here Rachel kundi over the top for oshaa foot race with Hubley ois o shaala has kundi o shaala great block from Kelly hubly how does ganji got from where she was to there in like a split of a second oh my God she she's just in another look at her where she gets the ball and then just puts it to asala and while asala hasn't even gotten there she's already in the penalty area waiting for the ball she's just so fast a two person fast break there from Rachel kundin anji and asisat oshaa but you know what osala took her time you know she like she knew she needed to wait a little bit to get clani to the position that she needed but then she decides to go on goal Emily Mangus runs it down back with [Applause] Roland rolling with doll keer sug applying pressure they push in the back that time from Baye Rachel Hill earns the free kick hills goal in the 18th minute is the difference a talking two there from Chon tahini the referee Isabella Bay eat appearance seven start for Isabella oay oay slowed down by a lower leg injury in June do keer restarts and it's Central Hubley leaves it her McKenzie Arnolds Arnold will roll it out a good build there from BFC they gave Arnold no options now BFC will take its time with Capri diasco she overcame three different ACL tears she won the League's Defensive Player of the Year three seasons ago remarkable for an outside back to win that award hard to not give the award to dco in 2021 the year she had here she is defending Smith Smith running at [Applause] dco good defending from Hill good first touch from oshaa excellent route that time Isabella oy who just play sour Brun for the start tonight big shoes to fill for Isabella oay former US National Team starter and Becky SAU BR Smith slows it down with Randa [Applause] Rees mtry expected the run and never came yeah you know when you do those type of plays that you know exactly how to do it and where you do it you always get situations like this one but it's understandable and mol she's allowed to do a few Roland white from Mangus this is going to be a goal that Roland doesn't want to see ever in her life those are the goals that you as a goalkeeper never back for Roland tall keer into the feet of Hill and there's halftime off sides she came from an offside position good High Line there from Portland as Rachel Hill came from an offside position as she received that ball from doll keer seven minute goal for do keer 18th minute goal for Rachel Hill Sophia Smith scored her 11th at the season intercepting a short pass from the goalkeeper Roland intended for do keer oay wins it but before that a foul against Olivia [Applause] mtry and there is halftime Bay FC first time in its club's history they've scored two goals in the first half and despite the mistake at the back a 2-1 lead at halftime Carmen Bing it's been such an interesting first half you know about coming back from what you were doing and trying to make it better and I'm just hoping that maybe in the second half a few substitution can change something for Portland and we'll see if B capable of of just keeping what they did in this first half Abby doll keer scores on her debut first BFC goal for Rachel Hill 11th of the season for Sophia Smith it's 2-1 Bay FC at halftime in [Applause] Portland halim in Portland Bay FC leading Portland Thorns FC 21 Matt Peterson with Carmen bokee we look at the stats after the first 45 minutes second meeting of the Season between these two sides and Carmen what do you make of these well The Possession we always know it's going to go to albertine side bay FC uh but there were good chances and spots throughout where Portland uh dominated just a little bit in terms of shots six and three for Bay FC they scored those two goals and they hyped up after that conversation around the minute 25 with Rob Gale with five shots and four of them on goal um we'll end up seeing if Morland is allowed to score just another one only six touches in the opposition box for Portland which makes the mistake so tough for Bay FC as they completely dominated that first half more coming up at halftime from Portland Bay FC leading 2 to One Night in Portland Oregon from Providence Park Matt Peterson with Carmen boen as we look at highlights from the first 45 minutes second meeting of the Season portly won the first 3 to2 in the Bay Area talk about crazy games with a lot of goals this happened really early on in the match uh you know that one was 7 nil a minute seven sorry was 2-0 for Portland this one was a bit different for BFC with this big opportunity for Abid do camper in her deut just getting that great ball coming in um a good opportunity the ball was from Dorian Bailey impossible there for Arnold another player that was only starting having her The View today you know the two sides of the coin right the happy and the sad and that was the first goal of the night for BFC and a pretty good delivery from Dorian Bailey on that review it's a hard bouncing ball away from her and then in the 19th minute will be Rachel Hill her first of the season but it was all set up by Rachel kunda nanji wow from one Rachel to the other kundan nii just being great of course in that right flank great ball so it was aalla there but at the end it was Rachel um Rachel Hill sorry unmarked impossible there for Raina Rees to do something and this allowed her that was Perfection with her cross what a ball I mean some assists should just be worth more than one if so that would have been it from kund den nji and then it's asisat oala breaking FR yeah she had another good chance in this one uh kangi lets the ball by and and it's ch B coming completely unmarked nobody was there a little bit of a deflection in that one from Raina Reyes maybe sending the ball with not that much force and Arnold pushing it out for her first save with uh Portland just a few minutes later big mistake here I want to see it again Caitlyn Roland trying to play doll CER it's picked up by Sophia Smith and the Gold Medal winner has her 11th of the season this this is going to sound complicated but I'm you know I always say it I I'm not such a big fan of goalkeepers playing with their legs and trying to come because this happens and we've seen it on and on and on and on and it's you know a Dem Merit for the goalkeeper and a big Mar for uh the player in offense just being able to put the enough pressure to win that ball and be clever and score so unfortunately for Roland and great for Sophia me with that goal we'll be back with this second half from Portland Bay FC has a 2-1 lead in Portland Oregon halim at Providence Park in Portland and BFC leads 2 to one two goals inside 18 minutes Abby do keer on her competitive debut played in The Friendly against Barcelona on Tuesday to get used to her teammates and then she scored just seven minutes in before for Rachel Hill got her first goal with BFC that came in the 18th minute and Sophia Smith back from the Olympics first game in about 3 weeks now 11 on the season fascinating game Carmen a day of first for Bay of course um not so for Sophia Smith like you said you know 11 goals great da by hair um and then we're going to see what what substitutions are being made and if Rob Gil decides that he wants to bring out the players that are more used to uh mainly that back line and see if that reinforces it two first makes 11 a little prek math there what was it one and one 11 doll keer and Hills first 11 for sopia Smith here we go in the second half Portland's in red FFC in the dark ray uniforms it took me a little bit to understand but it's not you it's me okay just so you know I'm sure everybody listening understood it immediately Carmen what are you watching for tactically from either side here as we start the second half I want to see nasita be more free be able to just put those B balls have a little bit more of communication like she do through the summer cup she was so good in that um in those three games and then Bay FC see them succeed of having the lead and not losing points again mol tree back for Sam coffee so back with Kelly Hubley no changes for either side at halftime Portland five changes from the team that lost to Gotham last week two nothing in New Jersey AFC made three te changes from the team that lost two to one at Utah Royals last Friday night pay played with Nigeria at the Olympics this summer comes mtry and so did O SW early ball it's headed away and the offside flag was up that was doll keer in good position at the back post it's incredible you know at at the end she's just coming from playing with bayf um sorry with San Diego so she's the perfect health and and and and rhythm of flee so much experience for doll keer a three-time nwsl champion plus four time Shield winner good pressure from mtry right to Smith and now it's Mangus caught in possession here's Fleming pushed off the ball by Kiki picket I think she got confused a year ago she was playing with the Reds and now she's in Gray maybe she got just a little bit disorientated there here's mtry from distance off the back of her teammate Emily Mangus well that would have been disastrous for Bay FC would have been the second self-inflicted goal conceded here's pay's cross that's a dangerous ball off the inside of the post and cleared by Mangus I think it went in Payne certainly thinks it went in video assistant ater monre will be looking at that did it cross the line oh my God what a game it's only starting in this four minutes and now we have this it seemed like it was in we'll see if that pain which Maybe she was going directly on goal cross completely that did not cross the line hit the post and stayed out watch that yeah it stays inside the line but never crosses completely that the line for MZ that's like a big round of applause I think there's not such another great shot where you can see but no no it didn't win it graay the hand of Roland and then cleared by Mingus yeah it has to let remind her that it has to CL cross the the the end line completely coffee up the line fluming with [Applause] sug good win from picket OD stays down behind the play kangi in a foot race with Hubley kundi levels hubly referee says play off now Hubble's back to her feet and huy did not like that Challenge from Rachel kundi yeah she you know hubly stays there and kji just does the extra push and of leaving hoby falling down and then she eagerly goes to the referee just asking you're not going to show anything I think that's what I've read you know I'm a lip reader in my spare time one of your manyin skills yeah yeah that's such a good capacity you know you can get a lot of in your life by reading lips I I practice that on Tik Tok wide ride here for pain I just tried some I just tried some mock speaking to Carmen but she couldn't read my lips so I don't know if I believe you Carmen I said I don't know that I didn't know that but I didn't really verbalize it well yeah so maybe you're not a very I said that I was an avid lipit now that I was good [Music] [Laughter] aty a thrown in here to kadangi picket cleans up the mess in front of Fleming spaner back for coffee Rees pushes forward Alexis sanra working on daco coffee Fleming o better from Portland since halftime in The Possession Department that's a scoop pass here never comes off goal kick to Roland and Bay FC Roland now asking for the training staff she is clutching her right [Applause] hamstring Caitlyn Rolland working on that hamstring Emmy Allen is the backup goalkeeper made her first pro start July 20th against San Diego in the summer cup forced to make seven saves she's the backup Roland Now talks with the referee Shan tahini as albertine Montoya and his coaching staff takes a moment for a team meeting [Applause] here Isabella obeys from cing Denmark for seven start of the Season tonight sug ni spaner wide left [Music] still hin suita away from Rachel Hill spaner crosses good touch from Dorian Bailey she helps it out to kund denji won't she trying to scrap in there good sportsmanship Reyes helping up Kiki pick it after Reyes foul pick it yeah it was a good thing to do you know it happened that that's the part of soccer you know it's part of contact it was a little bit on both but it ended up being a picket R Rees P at Alabama Kiki picket at Stanford comes Nicole Payne plays it back to behind mol an Olympian with Nigeria team Montoya looks on his team leading 2-1 ala malonson will throw it in played for Seattle rain acquired in the expansion drafts two years with Seattle before that nin in Denmark last draft and we didn't know it new CBA eliminating the drafts 2024 will be the last drafts the clubs have to recruit the players at every level my favorite part is about the people helping the players being up to 10 um in terms of Physicians and and mental health and everything just to secure you know the taking care of the players throughout the whole season good work from kund denji she's on her right foot kund Deni slips it through OSHA Wala is just possessed good step from Isabella [Applause] obeys a change coming shortly for Portland it looks like raand Turner preparing for her home debut drop pick out of racing Louisville UCLA is traded two weeks ago from racing Louisville to Portland part of the Janine Becky deal Becky sent from Portland to Louisville Turner comes to Portland from [Applause] Louisville certainly feels like Portland's trying to draw Bay FC out this time Tess B wins it wide for Rachel Hill back for bod good touch t b shot block Kelly hubly it falls to kund denji laid back for Dorian Bailey what a good break that was from Bay FC and an excellent block from Kelly Hubley yeah the big effort defensively by Hy was Perfection her second Big Time block tonight she had one early in the first half and and and see where she's positioned and how she just knows how to follow the ball anticipating a little bit what she has to do and then just stretching her leg to be able to disallow that ball to keep moving forward there perfect beautiful first touch from Tess B to set herself up one by do keer with kiky pickets here's tasbo alanson steps forward Alyssa milans on so G slows her down now it's milans again long range hit oh what a save hill Second Chance Off the Mark kund Deni forcing an excellent save for McKenzie Arnolds and this is the first Standing Ovation and the big celebration for the new goalkeeper or at least Ela AAS now she was oh my God Rachel Hill putting that ball great for knowing exactly how to elevate yourself and then stretching your arm which is the opposite from the where the shot is coming it it's just great here's rayin Turner number six overall pick out of UCLA by racing Louisville traded from Louisville to Portland two weeks ago for Janine beckish here replaces Sophia Smith bit of a minute restriction for Smith as they ease her back from the Olympics where she logged a lot of time for Emma hay raan Turner had some bright moments for UCLA helped to win a National Championship two years ago Al tournament team most outstanding offensive player [Applause] there's Sophia Smith 11 on the season now she's equal last year's goal total when she won the Golden Boot with 11 goals in 17 appearances she has 11 and 15 after her goal tonight [Applause] [Music] look at that pressure good composure there from McKenzie Arnolds oh Shala made it very difficult for the Australian [Applause] do keer fifth player in league history in the regular season to score and back-to-back appearances for different clubs she scored her last goal for San Diego last weekend he scores in our debut tonight the previous players who did that Carly ly Jody Taylor Sam cerr and laru Sophia Smith three goals two assists at the Olympics as the United States won Gold beating Brazil on the gold medal match by the well Rachel Hill her first regular season goal since May of 2022 that also came against Portland idco applying pressure mol tree with coffee here's Olivia mtry slips it through too heavy that time for raand Turner well done also but but but at the end it's just turner you know she was a little bit of misplace for that play because maybe you know she's just starting but the next one that she gets up all through be Olivia mold or any who she's going to be more capable of just connecting it fast good touch that time from Payne for Alexis man stra back for pay top of the box it's pay it was last Touch by doll keer no it was and no deflection it's a goal kick yeah and I'm sorry for for painting this one you know it's more of that exra touch it can be a little bit unnecessary sometimes you could just hit it in the first one and go you know with surprise and speed that extra touch was the thing that got her into not being able to just get a good shot directly on target cuz she I think she was in the good [Applause] path Portland trying to accomplish something they have not done in 10 years conceding Mol multiple goals in the first half and winning the game and a home game the last time they conceded more than one at home in one was July 20th of 2014 conceded three to Boston in the first half won that game 6 to3 yeah and I gave you the numbers when they were conceding first they haven't won in this season so not something that's easy to overcome but still you know 28 minutes ahead you can get it and they'll have to do it without Sophia Smith Carmen Sophia Smith on the bench she has scored 11 28 goals this season so on the field right now goal scorers you have Ina with one cluffy with two mtry with two three that's it and I I don't have the number of many Turner scored with um Turner scored once with racing Louisville yeah so scored a goal against Seattle back in June so that means you only have six goals throughout the field for forland as of now Sam coffee and a free kick is given we'll see this again hard challenge shoulder toosh shoulder from from AIS shiala and Sam coffee as the two Olympians went after it and you see a former Thorn there Angela Salem she was a best 11 selection now she's an assistant coach in the Bay Area with Bay FC but she was a fan favorite here right in the center of the screen Angela SA good work again defensively Rachel kund denji now she's in a foot race she will get there in front of Rob Gale kund denji has oshaa Central she looks for her and a nice step and a free kick is given frustration now for Rashi shaala that's the second consecutive foul called upon her this time she gets Isabella oys and and at the end they they want to see himself be able to score a multiple you know scorer number three and in this one obase just again being clever and stepping in front of the player and the opponent and just getting that ball [Music] away ra shanii scored against Utah to pull a goal back at a two and L she scored against Barcelona on Tuesday here is the change for albertine Monto he brings on Joel and Anderson she replaces Dorian Bailey who is on a yellow card and gave the assist for the first one for Abby Anderson's 16th appearance two goals two assists she played for Houston last year acquired a trade with Houston last December she's back in her hometown she grew up in sose before playing at Pepperdine University first change of the night te Montoya BFC continues to be a pretty good road team Carmen if they hold on here it'll be their fourth Road win they have three wins at home they'd have more Road wins than home wins on the season if they hang on here yeah and let's be reminded that it's the only team in the NL that after um 17 well this is the 18 game for them they haven't had a draw so they only win or lose and it's uh three wins on the road and five losses good turn here from Payne pay Crossing touched by Turner headed out by DOL keer and finally cleared Rachel Hill tracking back to Hell pay has been excellent in the second half but now a break here Hill took too long on the ball didn't sense the danger commits the foul that was a chance on the break with kadangi and oshaa in front yeah this was just you know a little bit of a fall there's no doubt in that one by Rachel Hill against the rain mol tree wide for Fleming Anderson's first time con to throw in expected goals tonight Bay FC at 2.24 Portland just 1.01 does that sound accurate to you well not great far either right 97 of engine shots for Bay FC Here Comes span that strike is tipped over the bar by Roland as span is known for those long range hits this was a good effort in her debut and I was talking about those goals coming from outside the box and just taking the advantage of positioning yourself in that attacking third and not getting into the box just trying from outside what a hand from Roland that was going to untarget that was going to be such a great goal that is allowed it to be the two two of the match spaner scored once in 10 games with Kansas City current she played the University of Virginia mol Tre from the corner Mangus heads away soza runs it down for Portland Tre runs into [Applause] tesb all the way back for pay Portland The Possession Advantage 52% on the night [Applause] ball goes out it's a throw in albertine Montoya mol tree doesn't agree with the call kangi does very well there to throw in [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Kaji can't escape the double team mry wants to throw it in [Music] quickly just one change made so far by Rob Gale the permanent head coach he was upgraded from interim to permanent July 19th here's Anderson what a goal right off the bench Joelle Anderson has pulled a goal back for Bay FC and The Californians now have a 31 lead in the Pacific Northwest and thank you for responding to what we were pointing about where the goals were conceded from and Bay only only had two from outside the box and now they get their third one you know when you get a ball like that one don't take your chance just position yourself in a good way and she knew it you know she had the space she had the opportunity and she just goes directly to that far post between the far post and the goalkeeper and just puts it in the little space that she had she sent that ball there what a great definition from Joel Anderson Sublime technique with the left foot bending it past the Center back and a around the goalkeeper McKenzie Arnolds wow what a night for McKenzie right cuz in this one I do think she could have done more I disagree I think that's a really good goal I don't think many goalkeepers in the world save that yeah well it's SK it's skipping off the turn how easy am I you just sold it to me McKenzie no I think that's a great goal personally it's a third on the season maybe the the the bounce could you know if it wouldn't have bounce maybe it was more for her and the high height that that she was going that could have done something but once it bounced it just went went over her I will say it is self inflicted though from Portland because Kelly Hubley plays that ball into the middle needlessly it's turned over they find Anderson two touches later it's a goal so maybe Arnold's not as set up as she wants to be but you play out of the back you play in the middle you take a risk that was needless there from Portland well it like it was needless for you know Roland to do what she did and allow Sophia to score her goal so that's the necessity that soccer nowadays sorry I'm not complaining about Styles but um that's what happens when oh shaala to the back po this one's covered up by mckeny Arnolds yeah so so you know that's what happens when you want to play from the back and okay do it but see what's around you you know when you have a kid you tell them see your environment and I guess sometimes since you just want to do it you forget who you have in front of you cuz it's a big mistake at whatever stage or who's playing it just happens all the time Hubbly picks over the shoulder 3-1 Bay FC first time BFC have scored three goals on the road in the regular season what a moment for Joel Anderson he's had a nice season three goals two assists and 16 appearances now it's mtry nearly caught in possession by kund Ani a trade from Houston Dash last off season for Joel Anderson free kick is one here by Alexa span St yellow car there for Rachel kundin [Applause] anji yeah she's just you know you see the game how it's going you want to score yours too which is weird because usually there's been other goal scorers for BFC but today he has been all the ones that haven't much except for yel Anderson now with three um and she ends up receiving that yellow [Music] card Rachel kund denji tried to slip it through for Tess B and it's into the hands McKenzie Arnolds [Applause] Isabella obeys on her back catching her breath in her seventh start of the season and she had really good moments I I I don't know I don't feel like she was uh you know to be blamed in some of the goals but now with Becky going in you're going to have you know another different point with lham also it's a triple change here for permanent head coach Rob Gale Becky sabrun comes on for the Danish national team Center back Isabella o pton linahan comes on for Sam coffee so coffee goes 75 minutes in her first game back from the Paris Olympics and then Marie Mueller the German outside back will come on for Alexis spaner so two of the normal starters SAU Brun and Mueller come back for the final 15 minutes yeah cuz Lam is part of those players that are always you know coming in from the bench throughout the matches as sa Brun had started all but one game this was the only the second time this year she did not start and for Mueller first year in Portland she has played played every game started all but two so again some new looks from Rob Gil again elevated to permanent head coach July 19th the interim tag was lifted after he did such a great job six straight wins following his new assignment replacing Mike Norris who was moved to another roll in the soccer operation the end of the line Sam coffee Mike Norris moved to technical director Rob Gale elevated from assisting coach to head coach coffee gets a big Ovation after her 76 minutes back from Paris [Applause] there are the changes Becky SAU Bron for Isabella [Music] [Applause] o we'll see if they use Mueller in an outside Midfield role she's typically a left back she replaces a Winger here Payne linahan Central clear by [Music] demper pay's cross is blocked by by malanson malanson stays down behind the play kangi runs into SAU [Applause] Bron here's linan and I think Lan is going to bring you know many more possibilities U into the attack and what she can create she has two goals one assist and it's just a player that was drafted this season and she's ready to to do so much more play to Penn State alongside so many of these players on Portland including Sam coffee from Douglas Massachusetts hit linam here she is on the ball here wide for Turner her cross is over hit picked up by Hill on the far side of the Box 3 to one BFC leading toell Anderson The Substitute has the most recent goal the first two from Ali Doper and Rachel Hill Sophia Smith scored her 11th of the season to pull a goal back from Portland in the first half good pressure there from do keer back to Roland and you know when we talked about the wins of albertin Montoya sides that it been six the first one was one nil against Angel City the second one 3-2 against Seattle rain the next one 2-1 against San Diego another 21 against Chicago one nil against Angel City and one nil against racing Louisville so this one could be the one with the biggest Gap so far which is two goals and still 12 minutes to be played in the uh regular time we'll see what how much it's stoppage and maybe they can get another one and be their first Big Goal winner if this score holds they'll pull to 21 points jumping racing Louisville in the process pulling two points back of Chicago red stars so GZA leaves it for Olivia mtry her delivery is clear by Kiki Pickins Becky SAU Brun comes off the bench tonight maybe it's for one game maybe it's a Changing of the Guard a little bit for a younger player and Isabella obeys but Becky sabron over 200 caps the United States a starter on both World Cup winning teams in 2015 and 2019 and if you think about the individual accolades if they're ever going to name an award after defender of the year she would be probably the most likely in the coming years given her success throughout her career in this league previously with Kansas City and now with Portland s runs a four time nwsl Defender Of The Year going three straight years 13 14 and 15 then again a 19 with Portland when when Rob Gale came in you know he won he won all those games it was uh seven wins out of eight games do you think the spell is a little bit gone cuz the last games they they haven't been the best you know the last five games is only one win two draws two losses they could this could be a third loss so it it would be no just one win in last six games I agree I think they were motivated it's a proud group much success they won the league two years ago it's a a lot of experience a lot of success but I think the biggest question right now for Portland is who is going to score goals behind Sophia Smith she has 11 she could win the Golden Boot she starts for the US national team behind her second leading scor is Olivia mtry an 18-year-old with three if you don't get goals from Smith who's going to score for Portland yeah and and we always talk about that right how how good it is for a club to only have one player scoring or just a few that score a lot I I would always choose a few that score a lot than only one here's Anderson's cross at the back post and it's clear Mangus arriving tpod leaves it long touch aanderson good turn from sug they traded Janine Becky they bring in raen Turner perhaps a larger role for players like Nicole PNE Raina Rees maybe this was just a one game experiment maybe Becky SA runs back at Center back well you got to do and and try and if you do it at home well with your crowd maybe you can still P pull something out but today it has been the biggest game for for BA after scoring first and being able to not the other team the opponent to throw behind yellow Fleming Jesse Fleming in the book after a clear foul a jersey Tu on KiKi pickets Alber Montoya is very pleased with Kiki Piet as she has really solidified his team playing out of this defensive Midfield row yeah she does this really fast you know she she's coming from the middle cuz she sometimes does a little bit of a job in in the back line but then she goes quite fast really Center and knows exactly how to deliver the ball to to her um teammates K Deni with a deflected shot into the hands of mckenzi [Applause] Arnolds nanji got her third goal of the season last week against Utah doll keer comes out she fouls railan Turner [Applause] and pick it has a larger rooll getting up the field she scored a great goal at Wrigley Field in Chicago a 2-1 win one of those Road wins for Bay FC before over 35,000 fans first ever baseball or soccer game at a baseball stadium in Wrigley Fields but more moments like that could be coming from py picket as she gets more confident going up field in that defensive Midfield position [Music] of course this is a busy time of year Carmen for Portland as Rob Gil said 12 games in the next 50 days starting tonight that's about a game every four days are play in The conaf W Champions Cup next Wednesday at home against Club America they're in group b alongside San Diego Wave Santa Fe a club from p Anar and Vancouver White Caps Santa Fe Central American Champions mon Toya is still coaching he does not feel comfortable here with a two-goal lead Fleming just picked up that Yellow Guard she subed down after 85 minutes replaced by Megan klingenberg kingberg is another player that knows exactly you know how to take advantage of good balls and just put them in the box we'll see if she can do something different in these last minutes 11th appearance of the season for klingenberg a much smaller role in previous season she was the anchor left back for many years was the starter for the United States in the 2015 World Cup when they lifted the trophy what an impressive performance perhaps the win of the season for Bay FC All Things Considered considering the Tuesday game against FC Barcelona integrating a new center back and abidal keer playing a very motivated Portland team with it's two gold medalists back in Sam Coffey and Sophia Smith this might be the best win of the year if BFC can hold on P Cross of the back post headed out by D keer and you know when you see those those many changes in your opponent you have to take advantage and and not allow them space to to be bigger or better than you even if they're at home and b control that really well throughout and how they keep possession whether if they don't have it they just get it back and and keep attacking and the counters that they created I think that's the balance that Albert needed you know accept that he can play have the ball whatever but then take advantage and go directly straight [Music] forward klingenberg wins it direct ball here for linahan RO off her line to clear in front of Mueller quick throw from Mueller for [Applause] klingenberg 87th minutes here comes Kelly Hubley wide for [Applause] pain corner kick coming to Portland good work from pay as she went up against Rachel [Applause] kundi richel kund nji two goals against Australia in the group stage for Zambia at the World Cup against [Music] Arnold facing McKenzie Arnold the starting goalkeeper for Portland on her debut tonight maybe she wants to bore again that's why she's you know corner kick from mtry headed down by Becky sauerbrun she grabs the loose ball back for Olivia mtry shoulder toosh shoulder kund denji call for the foul Port wants to play quickly she already has a yellow card she's goinging immediately the assistance I think she ends up getting the worst part actually that's knee against knee [Applause] M Tre a long chat here with Shan tahini the referee before this restart not as much energy as we've seen on some nights from Providence Park in Portland they're used to seeing their team winning not trailing by two goals in the 89th minute [Applause] [Music] Portland five2 and one at home this season the change was just made Maddie Morrow just came on for Rachel kund Den kji on a yellow card coach Montoya not taking any risks matd Morrow played at West Virginia after time at LSU and she was one of the stars of the summer cup Montoya said she was our best player in the summer cup scor her first pro goal against San Diego scored again against Club America she a multiple positions Carmen forward Winger and outside back Olivia mol Tre to deliver this in the 90th minutes driven to the back post thean Rises to head away linahan will pull it back with klingenberg that's clipp in sug near it touched by diasco corner kick coming for Portland entering first half stoppage time and we were talking about how many goals ba received prior to this game it was 30 um you know now it's 31 but still defensively I think they did such a great job driven by mtry headed out by Mangus Lan battling here against Rachel Hill that's to the near post it's off of the feet of Hubley off the outside of the goal frame and out for another Portland Thorns corner [Applause] kick off the corner of the goal frame off the hands and outs it squeezes between her arms her hands does it even touch St corner kick Roland covers up in front of Hubley that was the third corner kick of the knights Roland's been busy her team has a two-goal lead here in Portland in The 91st minutes there's no Ros Roland you know it's it's N9 minutes of probably eight now you never know but I definitely don't see Portland being able to score two or three now last out oshaa peeling for a hand ball shantin had a good view it's a direct ball for linam Turner coming to her right cross is deflected and out for a corner and then I think lham did she hurt herself there in the fall and she's telling her do you are there calling you for the hand you see I read that one pretty good that's the lip reader Carmen V G multi-talented Turner took a shot as she tried to get on the end of that cross yes it really did seem like a hand I would love to see that shot again and do keer had a really good night not only the goal but she's just stabilized things back there a World Cup champion a former defender of the year in this league she's just been in a lot of good spots as here we see the appeals for a handball off the hip then off the elbow what do you think yeah no no it's not going to be anything but one thing the arms are extended so maybe [Applause] could it could actually they're looking back at that potential penalty shout nope no nothing on the other end before this corner kick Shan tahini communicating with out right Monroy the video assistant corner kick coming for Portland mry ner is close to Rolland towards the middle nice catch from Caitlyn Roland and Roland a few words from Muer after the fact take your time are you okay go back you know that's the best thing they can do coming into these last minutes and not allow another good opportunity like the one uh Roland LED Sophia's meet for the first and only goal for Portland of the match I think the challenge for Portland is just the attack is not what it used to be years ago in a home game chasing the game Portland has nine total Shots tonight and and you still have some GL bench right uh but but who else like you mentioned at the end of the day uh as forwards you have Sophia with the 11 goals now goals now you have linam she's already in with two goals um is Dila but she's not even benched today um Maria cheva Mara cheva she's not even bench today and then you have Gabi proano which is also out I don't know maybe Olivia waya could do something different she has three goals two assists but still no I don't think well no he can make any more substitutions s he already made the five which was correcting the changes that he made for this match I would say it's a work in progress going two goal because they trade Janine Becky they bring in a rookie see replacing a World Cup veteran and Olympian and Janine Becky for an unproven player with high upside side in Rin Turner you have Smith you have a young player that Rob Gil expects to dominate that's the word he used describing Olivia mtry this week how can they support Sophia Smith she has 11 next leading score is molt Tre with three goals and Sophia scores a lot a lot but because she gets a lot of shots it's not that she's like um you know you know what I mean it's like like there's player that have shot five shots five goals um Sophia has yeah she creates a lot of her shots Sophia has let let me give you the exact number I don't want to he has 43 seven 47 shots 23 On Target Prior the start of this match and she has 11 goals so she just misses a lot of the ones that she sends On Target you know that's to the back post and a good clar some do Kemper before raan Turner got there doer stretched out by her former college teammate Caitlyn Rowan and capris tid askco what a team that was deserving national champions multiple future Pros three of them right there on the fields Roland dco and Over the [Applause] Bar Megan kingberg hopeful with that long range hit yeah just taking advantage again from outside the box goes uh wide over the goal nothing there to do maybe hubly was close something different could have worked also foot race here oala will get there before Becky SAU BR AI [Music] Shala good patience and game management here from Bay FC down to the final few minutes Hill State on side she'll keep it in the corner with mat Morrow pick it Morrow gets a good cross away it's all the way in front of McKenzie Arnold and finally clear we're getting into the final two minutes we'll see if it's enough for Portland to try to score another one or maybe ba gets her fourth pton linan on her left her shot blocked by doll keer corner kick coming Mueller wants to take it quickly I think with the addition of do temper in this back line ba is going to be more secure throughout the last eight matches of the regular season yeah the early returns are very good for albertine montoy on the pickup of ABI doll keer wide left for Mueller defended by picket arim Mueller the German Crossing touched Away by Mangus back for molri and good reading claim from Caitlyn Roland Caitlyn Roland held off lizam PR for the starting position I think many sto that PR would be that starting goalkeeper it's now Roland year one for albertine montoy and Bay FC lenan thought she was fouled after she won it Tess B all sorts of space for one of the goal scorers Joel Anderson her third on the season made it 3-1 for Bay FC and she wisely Sprints towards the corner Morrow will keep it there against Nicole [Applause] Payne and now oshaa is down a change coming here Caroline Conti will replace Tess B Cody K's from Greenville South Carolina she played at Clemson sixth appearance of the season for kti and a big hug for albertine Montoya as bod comes off they have to be trilled with this just another win away three can we start seeing gold points coming into the last nine matches CU it definitely fle feels like coming from Bay was a few weeks ago now this will move them 21 points a two back of Chicago four back of North Carolina six back of Portland racing Louisville two points behind them Angel City three points back at BC if this result holds Louisville plays Seattle at home tomorrow Angel City host Chicago on [Music] Sunday good run by Reyes Mueller [Applause] [Music] fulltime from Providence Park Abby doll Kemper all smiles she scores on her debut she hugs her former college teammate and then another goal from Rachel Hill her first with Bay FC the exhaustin har asisat oshoala and then a third goal the season from Joel Anderson a fourth Road win of the season for Bay FC they win it in Providence Park we will wrap it up after this a 3-1 Bay FC win in Portland from Providence Park Portland loses for the third time at home this season Matt Peters in with Carmen boen Bay FC trying to bounce back after a tough result at Utah last week and early on the second phase of this corner kick would lead to the opening goal yeah it was just that good opportunity that you get whenever you have a set piece like that one putting the ball back again inside the field and it was uh Inside the Box sorry and it was Dorian Bailey just being able to trace Becky saburn uh abidal cper sorry in her uh debut with the club just being able to head that ball into the back of the net and score the one against McKenzie Arnold second in St game with the goal her last was with San Diego the reaction says it all for her debut with her hometown club and then in the 19th minute look at this Sublime delivery from the Zambian Rachel kundi you know the more I see the play how she just leaves the two Portland players behind and she's able to you know that little touch and put the ball high enough for her that nobody else could do anything two players couldn't allow her to stop then the other one couldn't reach her and then she put a good assist for the second goal huge mistake here Caitlyn rowand playing with do keer poor pass picked up by Sophia Smith back from the Olympic she has 11 on the season after this goal yeah and and you know this was a goal from another game cuz definitely um it was not the Portland that we're used to seeing truly mainly in attack or creation or or capability of just scoring goals and then this one which was the Joel Anderson finish beautifully Off the Bench one of her first touches truly Hill applied the pressure she won it Hill gets the assist off to this beautiful Bender from Joel Anderson cuz now that I see it again uh Rachel Hill dragged the whole Mark everybody was covering her so Joel Anderson had enough time to be able to know exactly where she wanted to go uh without you know losing the good touch and then just scoring that Perfection of a goal for our entire production crew including my partner Carmen boen our producer James Barker Matt Peterson saying so long a statement win away from home full-time score Bay FC 3 Portland Thorns FC 1
