Post-Match Thoughts With Elliot Newby: Port Vale (H)

noobs a full goal toplay three points uh you must be Bing in today's win yeah I thought it a fantastic result for us um obviously first half very tight um not a lot in the game and then sometimes as you have to do in this league you have to grind out a bit and then you get the rewards at the end obviously you haven't had a lot of time probably to prepare coming on as a sub uh what's the Gap said to you in you know that short period of time just score and be positive really um which you know all I always try and do um obviously the game opened up a bit second half which was which was really good for me coming out in that kind of position um yeah I enjoyed it yeah obviously for the majority of last season you playing over on the left but did you enjoy over on the right today yeah I've played kind of both sides over my career um I don't kind of mind which side which side I go on um so yeah I enjoy it over there but yeah don't mind our play really it must felt really good as well to made the in impacts with you know you on maybe what three four minutes before you've already racked up an assist yeah no it was good yeah it's a great finish from Jed I was kind of screaming at him to pass me the ball but he probably did the right thing in the end yeah it was a really good finish near post um but yeah it's what I like to do come on making him and to get I mean three over on a game which he played you know not even half in I mean you must be really pleased with that yeah of course yeah yeah look I'm really happy I want to try and help the team in whatever way I can I think you know my my role definitely last season was you know someone who's tried to be creative and and create opportunities for the team so I want to want to build on that this season obviously playing a little bit higher up now in probably a position that's that I enjoy a bit more um you know I want to go and try and do that and you know keep keep doing that really and after last week's disappointment you know was it really big for you guys to have the motivation to come here and you know put on a good show and get as many goals as you did today yeah definitely it it was a very tight game tight game last week I thought it could have gone either way really just as the first game could have could have done really um of course you get lots of games like that in this league but obviously we dis disappointed we came out on the on the wrong side last week I think there was a few things we could have improved on which you know definitely today um we we show what we can do I'll see a lot of tough games to kick off the season so to picked up six points so quickly and to be through to the round two of the caravel cup you know must like a great so yeah I think I think it has been yeah um like I said it's not been playing sailing but we've played some really good teams obviously crew play our finalists car who's come down then P who's come down and then obviously them again in the cup it's you know you can't get really much much more difficult starts than that so I think we should be really pleased with with our side I suppose in you know especially like today's game there's difficult moments where you know it's nil nil chance aren't quite being created it must be really important for you guys to trust the process and trust that you know you're are going to get that opportunity eventually yeah definitely I think it'll give us a big confidence boost to there to to show what we can do in in the final third when when the game kind of presents itself uh to be like that obviously it's not going to be like that all the time sometimes You' got to battl in games sometimes the games aren't you know amazing to watch we we understand that youve kind of got to stick in there and then when the opportunity does come to to go and attack and you know create things and go score then you know we've got to do that and it must feel good to have you know those boards in front of you who just you know today I think six shots on Target and four of them goals yeah that's what that's what we've got to be like obviously this league you know like I said some games you don't get too many chances we've got to be really clinical and we definitely show that today thank you very much
