you know one thing I did find interesting was the quarterback depth chart for fall has been setnick being first string Chris F Vino being second string and Trent pman being third um there was you know we talked about it a lot about how the the backup quarterback uh battle was was kind of shaking out and how we felt like that was something that hadn't been decided yet um but it's clear I guess right now that they're they fully plan on Christopher bzen being the number two guy right now um and you know obviously fall still has to happen and and things can change but uh they have a they have a set order right now as far as you know behind K kumnick and that was one thing I wasn't really expecting to hear so what did you think about that because I I thought that was one of the more I thought it was I thought it was interesting pretty surprising to be completely honest um I I much like you did not expect for them to come out and name a depth chart immediately when it came to the quarterback position um just because of how the spring game played out and and you know it seemed like there was some uncertainty with you know maybe how Chris Vena was developing and and with what TR pman put on display for albe it just one practice but the spring game the only practice that the fans get to see so obviously it gets hyped up probably a lot more than it should and dbo made that clear when he was talking about it that you know that's just one practice in you know a a long group of practices right that was just one day um so they take obviously they they temper the the the weight that that is weighted obviously with fans we weigh that that's the only thing we have so everything that we say and we talk about is based off of the spring game we don't get privilege of watching practices uh the coaches do so obviously they weigh it a bit differently than we do um but I really thought it was interesting and and you know maybe that's a good thing um maybe that means that Chris Vena is ready to truly take those second team reps and that's if you're a Clemson fan that is a good thing that is what you want to see he needs to be developing he needs to be progressing he needs to be that number two guy that's what Clemson needs him to be right now he needs to be to the point where he can legitimately be that guy that runs out there should C catastrophe strike and K clubnet go down right so um I think it's a good thing um a little bit surprising like I said but overall hopefully that means that he is developing how we hope that he would when he was originally signed yeah and I mean as you said you know Trent and Trent the thing with Trent pman is is like okay yeah we we talked about the spring game performance and and you know how you know Sharp he looked and and how just kind of in control of the offense he was um but it wasn't like that had come out of nowhere like so like I think that's one thing that you know that was kind of the more surprising thing because I didn't think the spring game was what you know all of a sudden opened the coaching staff or or opened our eyes about Trent p i mean we had been hearing about Trent pman throughout the spring and and in Rumblings you know from last year about you know how much of a you know how much of a gamer he is and and um how pois he is and like he's a I mean he was a good football player in high school a really good football player in high school um so you know we had heard about Trent Perman before and and he had gotten praise from the staff before so it was kind of a so it didn't necessarily come so you you had an idea that okay there there seems to be some legitimate you know competition going on there and I I think there is um so you know if if Trent pman is looking is looking good in practice and they still feel like Christopher Vina is the second that's where that's exactly what you want as you mentioned that's that that means that you know Christopher Zena you know spring game performance notwithstanding that he's taken that step in that that step in year two because the reality is is and they'll never you know the staff will never worded that way but he wasn't playable last year um and so that it it was if you got in trouble and and and Cade got hurt um you were kind of in a interesting predicament uh as far as you know what to do there because he just he was he came in as a raw like he was all tools basically and he had a big learning curve like he's he looks the part of a a starting in future a future NFL quarterback um but he just wasn't ready from there was a lot on his plate and there was a lot that he had to go through to to make that transition from high school to college and so if in year two he's made that jump to where they feel like they have the legitimate option at uh starting quarterback and they and he's ahead of the guy that we've all been talking about that that looks so poised and in command of the offense um you know that's that's where you want it and you I mean obviously you have to trust that the staff is making the correct evaluation there um but you know that's that's where Clemson ideally wants to be not you don't want to have your former walk-on quarterback as as good of a football player as he is and as smart of a football player is that's not really where you want to be I mean you brought in chistopher Rosen to eventually one day be your starting quarterback and so right that's that's where you want to be yeah it's it's it's definitely where you want to be and and we're gonna we're gonna see what kind of growth I mean Davos wiy talked about kad's growth um uh Garrett Riley talked about kad's growth and and what he's done this off season and and you know really the the consensus I got from both of them is the game has slowed down a bit for Kate clubing which is really what you want to see that's that's one of Kate's biggest issues is is the game was probably too fast uh one of the other things that they really talked about that they wanted to see Improvement on was him trying to play Hero ball right trying to do too much trying to um win the game all on his own um got to get away from that right you got to play Within the system you got to let these other guys that are highly recruited that are that are Playmakers themselves help you out um and and don't try to do it all yourself um and a lot of that comes from high school right uh you can get away with a lot more of that in high school ball um when you when you get to this level of college football um not so much so I think it was good to hear sentiments similar sentiments I guess from both DAV Sweeny and Garrett Riley when talking about C kumnick and his development and where he is at right now and where they see him progressing this season absolutely um and that's ultimately what's going to drive the the success of this team this year and and obviously in the coming years so um you know you have to the the the things that you wanted to see based off of what's been what was said in media days are what we are what we've seen so uh but ultimately it's it's what what happens on the field and we've we've heard really good things in in previous offseasons in previous fall camps yeah about where where the team was and and what we got was not that so I I totally understand a Clemson fan being like all right I I'll believe it when I see it I think that's a perfectly valid perspective to take after the last four years so yeah like I said approach it with cautious optimism um yes if if you can still Muster that optimism up I know a lot of a lot of Clemson fans are jaded from the past three seasons um about things that have come out and been said and you know like you mentioned uh did not come to fruition
