e e e e e e e e e e e ladies and gentlemen it's time for it's the real Jonathan Smith show on Indie Sports ticket 14:30 a.m. and 995 HD2 what's going on it's the real Jonathan Smith show here on Indies Sports tickets 10 to one o00 today that's right it's three hours three hours of the real Jonathan SM Smith show today Dan do is out so he's not doing a show so I'm gonna I'm GNA run that first hour for you I'm here for a full three hours and I made a mistake yesterday I won't lie and most of you probably thinking are you talking about your your your North Dakota State and Colorado Pick no I'm not I'm still standing by that I still don't think that Colorado's gonna be very good but I forgot that Monday was Labor Day so the final five shows leading up to the starts of the Colt season and the final five shows leading up to the start of the NFL season I had planned to start the new series called final five takes and so I was supposed to start that for the NFL yesterday so I'm going to do two of those today and I'm gonna give you my first final five Colts take right now Anthony Richardson is going to have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of three to one I don't know what it's going to look like I don't but when I say total touchdown I mean rushing and passing touchdowns compared to the total number of interceptions and fumbles that he gives away so I don't know what it's going to look like I going to assume that he's going to have somewhere around 13 rushing touchdowns and somewhere around 25 passing touchdowns so that is 38 total touchdowns on the season okay and when it comes to running the ball I don't know how you deny this I I don't when we saw Anthony Richardson last year he ran the ball incredibly well especially in the Red Zone in the short glimpses the the 12 quarters that really feel non-existent at this point that we saw from Anthony Richardson last year he had four rushing touchdowns that is won a game and he had three passing touchdowns which I I think is going to go up and let's be honest you can say whatever you want about Anthony Richardson you can say he's inaccurate you can say you think he's a bust whatever but we all know based off of the skill set that anthon Richardson has that he's going to be a problem in the Red Zone he's he's just he's just different in the red area he's going to churn out touchdowns for this Indianapolis Colts team if you want to say well Jonathan they aren't going to get in the Red Zone enough to do that then hey maybe you're right but when this team gets in the red area I expect for this Colts offense to be awesome I expect for them to have one of the best Red Zone offenses in the NFL because of the skill set and the problems that Anthony Richardson presents I also think that with the insane amount of speed that the Colts have on the outside at receiver they're going to get some cheap touchdowns I really think so like I I think that figuring out that Anthony Richardson is going to have success running the football like let's be honest that's not much of a take the dude 6'4 you know 250 PBS and he runs a 44 or or whatever he does I think everyone with a set of eyes can see that going to have success when he runs the ball inside you know the the 10 yard line or whatever it winds up being right he's just a big you know bulldozzer that's really what he is when it comes to him running the football so if you you know so I I think the part of the take I really have to defend here is the 25 passing touchdowns and with the speed that the Colts have on the perimeter I think they're going to get some some cheap touchdowns like Josh DS that's a 44 guy ad Mitchell that's a 43 guy Anthony G that's another 4-3 guy or even Jonathan Taylor out of the backfield like all four of those Indianapolis Colts receivers if you want to throw Alec Pearson there as well because he is a deep big play Threat all five of those guys are all candidates to have oneplay 80 yard touchdown receptions okay so I I think that the Colts are going to get some some cheap touchdowns to help kind of bolster the passing touchdowns for Anthony Richardson and I do think that man inside the 10 I don't know how you don't just run QB power right behind you know Quinton Nelson who is who is a Hall of Famer like I don't know how you don't just run that right behind him and walk Anthony Richardson in Into The End Zone once again four four rushing touchdowns and 12 quarters of play last year okay like the guy's going to run the football at a high level the question is the passing stuff so this is where the Playmakers because the Colts do have Playmakers makers on the perimeter come into play Josh DS really good last year I think he's going to be better this year ad Mitchell I'm excited about him people in general in the building seem to be excited about him Anthony G that guy has big play written all over him and you know Jonathan Taylor out of the backfield as well in addition to that in addition to that I also trust Shane styken to create a powerful offense behind Anthony Richardson as the quarterback okay like a lot of my faith in terms of in the idea that Anthony richon is going to throw 25 touchdown passes this year is just it's instilled in the faith that I have in Shane Sten I think that he's consistently going to put Anthony Richardson in a position where the throws are a little bit easier for him okay Shane sten's a guy that helped Justin Herbert have a record setting rookie season Shane styken is the guy that helped you know Jaylen Herz kind of emerg and sign this big contract and I think we're going to see him do the same thing with Anthony Richardson this year so I think that the Colts are going to throw the ball a little bit better than what people expect in addition to that when you look at the Colts last year they were 11th in scoring 11th with Gardner muu as their starting quarterback 11th in scoring with very little Jonathan Taylor because of the contract dispute and the injuries they were still 11th in scoring last year oh and in addition to that they really only had one one legitimate wide receiver in Michael Pitman Jr and now when we look at the Colts offense this year they have gotten better everywhere they've gotten better at every single position not every single position but for the most part like I I think that when we look at this Colts offense as a whole they have improved Anthony Richardson's playing quarterback now who poses way more issues and he's a way bigger threat because of his ability to run than what Gardner mentioned was last year okay like that running ability we didn't see it at all in the preseason but it's going to add a third dimension to this offense that teams are going to have to be worried about and concerned with so Anthony richson I think he's in for a big year in addition to that we're gonna get way more Jonathan Taylor this year way more Jonathan Taylor this year last year he had a career low in in touches because he just he wasn't on the field very much between the injury you know the thumb injury and the contract dispute so we're going to get a lot more Jonathan Taylor I think the Colts are better on the perimeter Josh DS going into year two he was good last year as a rookie ad Mitchell you know second round pick athletic stud supposed to be awesome I really like Anthony Gould I think he's Gonna Shine in some spots for the Colts Alec Pierce apparently had his best Camp ever Michael Pitman Junior back 100 receptions over a th receiving yards last year like that's those are Elite receiver numbers do I think Michael Pitman J's an elite receiver no I don't but he's capable of putting up those types of numbers like this Colts offense is going to be better year two of Shane Sten Anthony Richardson at the helm you know better receivers better weapons okay the offensive line is apparently supposed to be awesome so this Colt offense is going to be better and as a result of that Anthony Richardson is going to have a good year okay 3 to1 touchdowns to turnover ratio between you know um rushing touchdowns and passing touchdowns I'm assuming he's going to end up somewhere around 38 total touchdowns I'm thinking 25 passing 13 rushing we'll see kind of how those numbers kind of end up going and I I think that the highs are going to be really high I I I think that even people that don't like Anthony Richardson that that would label him as a bust I do think that they're going to have moments where they're like geez man that throw that he made right there is just incredible jeez that that really long touchdown run that he just scrambled for telling you the highs are going to be high and the lows are going to be low because that's part of a three to one touchdown to turnover ratio there's going to be turnovers and as high as the highs are going to be there are going to be some mistakes some of them are going to be ugly some of them are going to be unfortunate you know tip tip pass winds up in the hands of a linebacker that's very possible or that's not possible that's going to happen like he's going to throw interceptions he's probably going to Fumble the ball a couple of times that's okay right like this is something that happens to Young quarterbacks as high as the highs are going to be Anthony Richardson is going to make some mistake so I'm assuming he's going to throw somewhere around 10 interceptions and he's going to Fumble the ball around three times this year we just have to hope that those mistakes don't come at bad times okay that is you know that is my first final five Colts take Anthony Richardson is going to have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of three to one now I'm also doing final five takes for the NFL season and because there's no show on Monday I should have started doing this yesterday so I'm going to give you two today and we're going to stay in the AFC South the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to win the AFC South they are they I'm telling you they're going to be the best team in this division okay and I know a lot of people are hot on the Texans that's my second take that I'm I'm going to throw to throw to you here at like 1020 but I quickly want to hit on my Jacksonville Jaguars take everybody is okay the Colts have been labeled as the team that everybody's sleeping on that's not true because everyone has said that everyone else is sleeping on the Colts okay at some point like how many people had to be sleeping on you for it to no longer be considered that you're being slept on right meanwhile no one is talking about Jacksonville that is legitimately the team that people are sleeping on their schedule's easy they've got four tough out of Divi out of the division games that's really it they get Miami on the road which going that's that's who they open with and usually that is a huge advantage to Miami because it's you know a team not in Florida having to go to South Florida and deal with the heat Jacksonville is going to be accustomed to that that is winnable game as far as I'm concerned they get Buffalo on the road that game will be tough Philadelphia on the road Philadelphia is wildly talented that'll be tough and they have Detroit on the road every other game is incredibly winnable every other game is and Trevor Lawrence is an elite quarterback Trevor Lawrence is one of the 10 best quarterbacks in the NFL he was considered bad last year but you know I had some I had some time last night went decided to sit down hop on good old football reference all those things Trevor Lawrence was considered to be bad last year but he completed 66% of his passes threw for over 4,000 yards threw for 21 touchdowns now he did turn the football over too much with 14 interceptions but that's not a terrible season like why are we making it out to make it sound like Trevor Lawrence was like the worst quarterback in the NFL last year and when you consider that he did all that 4,000 yards passing completed two-thirds of his passes 21 touchdowns when you consider all that with the fact that he was injured all year last year it becomes even more impressive he sprained his AC joint which is the thing that you know Anthony Richardson tore that put him out for the rest of the year so he sprained his AC joint in his throwing shoulder he had a high ankle sprain he had a concussion okay like those are three not small injuries not small injuries at all and he still played 16 games like the is incredibly tough to play through all of those injuries and I'm willing to bet that he's going to be more healthy this year than he was last year and just because of that Trevor Lawrence is going to be better the other thing that we have to keep in mind is last year they played a first place schedule because they won the division the year prior that's not the case this year they finished third in the division so their schedule is going to be easier so which means they're probably going to play defenses that aren't as good Trevor Lawrence is going to have a good year this year and it's like oh well Jonathan Calvin Ridley's not in Jacksonville anymore Calvin Ridley's fine okay is Calvin Ridley is a good receiver I think he's a little overhyped with that being said I wouldn't have minded to see him in a Colts uniform but all signs based off of everything I've read all the reports coming out of Jacksonville are that Thomas Bryant Jr their first round selection a wide receiver out of LSU all signs point to him being amazing everything I've read everything I've heard every segment that I've seen points to Thomas Bryant Jr having an impact for this Jacksonville team this year they also bring in Gabe Davis who's you know who's fine so all signs point to Thomas Bryant Jr being a legitimate good football player Doug Peterson is a proven head coach this dude won a Super Bowl with Carson Wentz and Nick Foles as his quarterbacks Carson Wentz was going to be the MVP that year like that is how good of a head coach Doug Peterson is he made Carson Wentz looked like an MVP candidate until he got hurt okay and look I'm telling you right now Trevor Lawrence is better than Carson went and and Nick FES and he's playing under Doug Peterson they're going to be good this year again they don't have a first place schedule like they had last year they have a third place schedule okay it's going to be hard for Trevor Lawrence to be more banged up than what he was and I trust Doug Peterson to do a good job as a head football coach because he did a good job in Philadelphia he was good two years ago they started off really hot last year and then Trevor Lawrence got banged up and they started losing games their defense wasn't very good last year they got better Josh Allen The Edge rusher for for the for the Jags guess what he was like fourth in sacks last year was 17 and now they bring in interior defensive lineman Eric Armstead a guy who's had a great career in San Francisco Jacksonville is going to win the AFC South book it write it down everybody is off on Jacksonville everybody's off everyone loves Houston they're singing Houston's Praises oh CJ strad he's so good oh man demo Ryan like he's he's amazing like people love Houston people absolutely adore them but I'm telling you Jacksonville is going to win the AFC South and the Houston Texans are going to have a losing record this year I'll tell you why when we come back in four minutes e e e e e e e e e e unadulterated Sports talk with unfiltered takes it's the real Jonathan Smith show on Indie Sports ticket 14:30 a.m. and 995 HD2 the real Jonathan Smith show here on Indie Sports ticket continuing with the final five NFL takes five final takes on the NFL before the NFL season starts we have Today's Show and four more before we get to September 5th uh Chiefs Ravens Thursday Night Football it's going to be great okay so here's my so before we went to break I said that the Jacksonville Jaguars were going to win the AFC South and so people have to then ask well what about Houston right because everyone loves Houston and people love to talk about him oh it's CJ Stroud you're too and they added Stefon dicks that's that's what people love to say oh man they added Stefon Diggs well here's the thing that Stefon digs Edition is overrated it's overrated and in fact Stefon Diggs is going to make CJ strad worse the trend that's been going on in the NFL these past few years is to get young quarterbacks great already established wide receivers to help young quarterbacks you know play a little bit better and that is what the Houston Texans decided to do this offseason when they went out and they got Stefon dicks okay in their minds this is the equivalence of the dolphins getting Tyreek Hill to help Tua this is the equivalent of getting Jaylen Herz AJ Brown to help you know Jaylen Herz improve and look this is something that teams have been doing and most of the time it works but there is one example that sticks out in my mind where our team did this and it didn't work out and I think we're gonna see the same thing with CJ strout and Stefon Diggs this year Stefon Diggs is going to make CJ Stroud's life harder not easier and 2018 Baker Mayfield was taken first overall in the NFL draft he started 13 games that year and he appeared in 14 he had a good season everyone thought that the Cleveland Browns had found their guy in 13 games he threw for 3700 yards 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions and he completed 64% of his passes the Browns went six and sevens in the games that he started all in all considering who that Browns team was at the time when he showed up he had a decent decently good rookie year right it was to a point where everyone thought the Browns had their guy then in the off season the Cleveland Browns called the New York Giants and they're like hey we will trade you whatever they gave up for Odell Beckham Jr and every Browns fan every Baker Mayfield fan went nuts oh man we got we got Odell Beckham Jr like Baker Mayfield with Odell Beckham oh man they're they're going to be awesome Browns to the Super Bowl baby here's the thing though while everyone thought including me at the time that Odell Beckham was going to make Baker Mayfield better he in fact made him worse this is we're gonna see the exact same thing this year with CJ strad and Stefon dicks Baker Mayfield got worse in his second year when they brought in Elite receiver Odell Beckham junor 2019 Baker Mayfield started all 16 games for the Browns they went 6 and 10 they they didn't improve on their win total even though they added Odell Beckham Jr Baker threw for 3,800 yards only 100 yards more than he did the previous year despite playing an extra two games he threw 22 touchdowns and 22 n and 2019 five less than the previous year even though he played two more games he threw 21 interceptions seven more in an extra two games and instead of completing 64% of his passes like he did in 2018 2019 he only completed 59% and Odo Beckham Jr played in every game that year shouldn't his numbers have gotten better with an elite receiver like Odell Beckham Jr here's what I think happened because his numbers obviously got worse here's what I think happened a Young quarterback had to keep a successful Diva wide receiver happy this led to Baker Mayfield for in the ball to obj because when Odo Beckham doesn't get the ball Odell Beckham goes to the media and he complains oldo Beckham goes to the media and says we need to get Eli Manning out of here because he can't throw the ball deep okay Odell Beckham his you know the fact that he's a diva created a lot of issues for the Browns offense which in turn created a lot of issues for Baker Mayfield trying to force the ball to him okay and that made Baker Baker May Mayfield's numbers worse and if you don't believe me the following year 2020 Odell Beckham Jr got hurt and all of a sudden Baker Mayfield returned to his former self the Browns went 11 and five Baker completed 63% of his passes through for 3500 yards 26 touchdowns to only eight interceptions because he was no longer trying to force the ball to Odo Beckham Jr and he couldn't because he wasn't in the lineup he didn't have a diva wide receiver breathing down his neck demanding the football every play like CJ strout is going to have this year with Stefon Diggs Stefan Diggs has been the number one wide receiver his entire career from when he was in Minnesota to his time in Buffalo and now he's walking into Houston and he expects the exact same thing part of why he's not in Buffalo anymore is because the bills changed offensive coordinators at the end of last year and when that happened they ran the ball more they threw the ball to Stefon Diggs less a lot less in fact Stefon Diggs wasn't the leading receiver for the Buffalo Bills toward like in in the in their final five games like when you look at their last four games and their playoff game against Kansas City Stefon Diggs only had 215 receiving yards khil Shakir had he was more productive in those final five games than Stefon Diggs was he had 267 receiving yards in the last five games compared to diggs's 215 khil Shakir had two receiving touchdowns in those final five games compared to Stefon diggs's zero they went away from Stefon Diggs at the end of last year and I believe that that's part of why Stefon Diggs wanted out of Buffalo if Stefon Diggs doesn't get his targets he gets fussy he turns into a toddler that throws a temper tantrum and he's going to be unhappy about it and voice his opinion and young quarterbacks like CJ strad aren't always equipped to handle that and to make matters worse Stefon Diggs is likely walking into Houston with the idea that he's going to be the number one wide receiver well guess what he's not going to be the number one wide receiver there's a real world where Stefon Diggs is the third wide receiver on that Houston Texans team Nico Collins is going to be the number one wide receiver in Houston this year because he was awesome last year he was and it's like well okay if he's going to be the one then wouldn't digs be the two no let me take you to a quote that CJ strad had this off season CJ strad was asked hey CJ if you could have any three receivers in the history of the NFL on your team who would you choose and he said Calvin Johnson good pick Jerry Rice great pick and tank Dell and you're like tank Dell yeah the rookie receiver that they dra gred from Houston last year that got hurt so CJ strad clearly likes tank Dell he was highly successful with Nico Collins last year you really think that they're just going to bring Stefon Diggs in and push those other two young emerging receivers down I don't think that they are and you really want to sit here and tell me that that's not GNA bother Stefon Diggs a guy who's been highly successful I'm telling you it's going to bother him it's going to push all the wrong buttons for Stefon Diggs and he's going to become a problem in that locker room and it's going to impact the Houston Texans in that offense CJ shroud will be worse this year in addition to that something else that has a pretty dramatic change this year for the Houston Texans is the schedule that they're going to play the Texans are going to be worse this year in part because of their schedule and because they brought in a guy and stuff on digs that isn't going to help him the Texans went 10 and seven last year with only two wins against playoff teams their other eight wins came against teams that did not make the playoffs and now last year they had a last place schedule because they finished the last in the AFC South they had a last place schedule and so last year the schedule pretty easy right that's why they played all those teams that didn't make the playoffs but since they won the division last year they now have a first place division schedule so instead of playing you know the Jets and the Cardinals and all these really crappy teams you now get much tougher competition you get teams that were actually good last year so best of luck to Houston I think they're going to regress and finish with a losing record I think they finish somewhere around eight- n eight- n maybe they go nine and eight but I'm telling you the Houston Texans are going to regress and because of that you got to pick someone to win the division that's why I have the Jackson Jaguars winning the AFC South coming up tonight 7:30 we've got Cinema on ION we've got the Indiana Fever taking on the Chicago sky tonight at 7:30 ion Caitlyn Clark Angel ree it's always Cinema there's going to be drama the claws are going to be out it's going to be great it's going to be fun I can't wait before I forget Kevin Potts I'm going to say this at the start of the segment Kevin pots joining me at the top of the hour to talk football I'm going to run those takes by him that'll be fun he watched the the Colorado game last night so I'm sure we'll get into that a little bit as well he's a big NFL draft guy so I I'll get his opinion on Shar Sanders and Travis Hunter Stephanie OD she's gonna join me at noon to talk more college football just the Big 10 as a whole little IU maybe some Purdue as well so Stephanie OD she's joining me at noon Kevin pots top of the hour 11:00 to talk NFL tonight though 7:30 on ION Caitlyn Clark Angel ree can't wait these matchups always deliver the tickets are expensive they're like $330 something dollars it's going to be great right it's going to be Cinema both teams are in the process of jostling for position in the playoffs okay the Indiana Fever if they win tonight they hold the tiebreaker over the Chicago Sky uh if they lose I don't know what the next tiebreaker is I just know that they'll be two and two against each other on the season that game is on the road tonight in Chicago but yeah I'm look we know that K Caitlin Clark's going to play well because she always plays well whenever they play against Angel Ree and Caitlin Clark can say that she's got respect for Angel Ree and all those things they don't like each other I think that's pretty evident just in the way that they play the intensity level just goes up a n I can't wait to sit back and watch K Caitlyn Clark knock in 30f Footers while on the other end I watch Angel ree Miss layups from three feet away I think it's gonna be I think it's gonna be entertaining oh man one of it will be one of them will be and by one of them I obviously obviously mean Caitlyn Clark I hope people watch tonight I'm I'm excited because I think that after tonight because I I think Caitlin Clark's going to play well and Angel ree is going to continue to be Angel Reese layups and all those things I think by the end of tonight Caitlyn Clark is really going to put an end to this Rookie of the Year conversation not that there's one anyway but there's those people out there like oh Angel Reese rebounds well oh Angel Reese has all these double doubles with rebounds even though she's only shooting you know 28% from the floor you know whatever it is it's low I know that as a power forward it's honestly embarrassing but I think tonight Clark plays well ree continues to struggle and in the scoring department and I really think that it kind of puts an end to the very loud minority of Angel Reese fans because anyone with a set of eyes can tell that Caitlyn Clark is a much better player than Angel Ree and I expect for that reality to be on full display tonight when the Indiana Fever take on the Chicago sky so once again that game on tonight 7:30 on I on top of the hour 11 o'clock Kevin pots joins me at 11 Stephanie OD joins me at noon to talk a little college football Kevin and I we're going to talk a little NFL maybe some draft prospect stuff I'm assuming he watched the Colorado game last night and if you didn't you missed a good one it was a great fun entertaining game I've got my thoughts on on the Colorado buffalos when we come back here in four minutes e e e e e e e more winners more often it's the real Jonathan Smith show on Indie Sports ticket 14:30 a.m. and 9 95 HD2 the real Jonathan Smith show here on Indie Sports ticket thanks for tuning in I'm on today from 10 to 1 no Dan doet show so I'm covering the first hour of his show today Stephanie OD set to join me at noon we're gonna talk little college football Kevin Potts top of the hour 11 o'clock he's joining the show we're going to talk NFL probably little Colorado North Dakota North Dakota State last night because Kevin is an NFL draft guy he's got a lot of thoughts and a lot of opinions on a a lot of the different players that were playing in college football so I do want to kind of get his thoughts on Shader Sanders and Travis Hunter um he's also a 49ers fan so I have to ask him about the iuk Saga finally ending but Colorado North Dakota State last night I had a big opinion on that game yesterday and look I was wrong on the outcome of the game I was but I still don't think I'm wrong about Colorado I still don't think they're very good I sat back and I watched that game last night and my takeaway was defensively on the front I thought they were good I thought they did a good job of stuffing the North Dakota State run and look the the biggest thing about college football is the games are won in the trenches okay having a great quarterback is awesome and it's nice and it's important but it's not the NFL okay in the NFL if you don't have a great quarterback you're not winning games I don't care how great the other 21 guys on your roster are it is incredibly difficult to win NFL games without a great quarterback college football though like I said nice to have a good quarterback but it's about the trenches do you have a dominant offensive line do you have a dominant defensive line Chris Ballard would be a great general manager for a college football team given his philosophies because it's all about the trenches and as I was watching North Dakota State last night in Colorado look North Dakota state ran the ball decently well there are definitely some plays here and there where they were kept to you know three yards but offensively they couldn't run the ball they couldn't run the ball against an FCS school and look that is no disrespect to North Dakota State I think I made it clear yesterday that I have a profound amount of respect for that program and for that team I thought they played well yesterday but the skill positions at Colorado just overwhelmed them when when North Dakota state was playing defense like Sher Sanders hit a couple of incredible throws down the field and I'm I'm going to talk about him here in a second but I thought that the difference last night was something that won't be a difference when Colorado plays against other actual FBS power four conference schools they were just faster and better at the skill positions than North Dakota state was on offense on defense I thought Colorado's defense wasn't very good I thought North Dakota state made a mistake in I thought they should have thrown the ball more I thought their quarterback was I thought he was really good I thought they should have thrown it more but hey that's neither here nor there because Colorado won but I'm telling you they're not very good they're going to go five- seven they might get to six and six they they got a win next week against Nebraska who's a pretty tough out I think in order to make that happen so look I just I don't like a lot of things about Colorado that's not a secret I don't like how hyped up they are I don't like how much they talk despite going 4 and eight last year and I don't like the undeserved hype that they're getting just because Deion Sanders is their coach but I do like shter Sanders as an NFL prospect he's going to be a I think he's going to be a good NFL quarterback I don't know if he's going to be great but look he's big the dude's like 6'2 63 they said on the broadcast last night he's put on like 20 pounds he's got a good arm and the most important thing about him the thing that every good NFL quarterback has to be able to do is you have to be able to stand in the pocket with big 300 lb men bearing down on you and you have to stand in there and throw it even though you know you're going to get hit and I saw shooter Sanders do it all year last year right he got sacked 52 times more than any other quarterback in college football you would think at some point that they would have just play calling to run some more like shorter routes that way he's not getting crushed but you know hey whatever they went 4 and8 they clearly know what they're doing and last night we saw more of it we saw him stand in the pocket pressure bearing down on him and we saw him Step Up and deliver it while he's getting hit it was incredible it's hard not to like that that shows an incredible amount of physical toughness it shows off the arm strength like I mean he is incredible as a college quarterback and I think he's going to be highly successful when he reaches the NFL because of this trait that he has this willingness to stand in the pocket get crushed and keep on and still make a throw man like he made a couple last night where he's just getting absolutely toasted but you know he's still putting the ball like right on the money it was impressive and while he's awesome while he was awesome Travis Hunter the dude was amazing as well oh my gosh on both sides of the ball he's going to be a top 10 pick and you know as either you know a corner or receiver whichever one he winds up deciding to do I can tell you right now if I was him I I would play receiver how many look s Gardner you know arguably the best cornerback in the league probably the one with the most publicity because he plays for the Jets how many commercials have you seen him in not very many meanwhile when I look at the receivers like Devonte Adams has a commercial with Taco Bell I've seen Justin Jefferson in commercials I've seen Jamar Chase in a commercial like receivers are just more marketable so if I was Travis Hunter I would play receiver in the NFL without a doubt and also receivers are getting paid CD lamb and Justin Jefferson are the two highest players they're the two highest paid players in the history of the NFL that don't play quarterback okay like like receivers getting paid defensive backs you know they still get paid but not like receivers do if I was Travis Hunter I I would play receiver and I think he's a better receiver like he's got great ball skills he's explosive he is incredibly fast like he kind of looks like Garrett Wilson whenever he runs okay like oneon-one he can't really be guarded I mean he like he was on the short side of the field last night and North Dakota state was like rolling coverage over because they were so scared of him like he's just a truly great athlete He he'll be successful in the NFL no matter what position he plays whether whether it's receiver or corner but if I was him I would play receiver there's more money at the position more endorsements at the position and he's just he's an incredible receiver so I know they won last night I know I was wrong on that individual game but I'm I'm doubling down Colorado's not very good they might go six and six I think they're going to go five and seven so I don't think that they're going to make a bowl game they are going to continue to be the epitome of all Flash no substance great skill players you know Nike deal for shadur Sanders all those things but at the end of the day you got to be good in the trenches if you want to win college football games and Colorado just isn't they aren't good enough in the trenches and when they play the Utah and the Kansas States and the Kansas and the Oklahoma states of the Big 12 they're gonna get crushed because they just aren't they simply are not good enough up front so doubling down Colorado is not good Colorado is not good they are not a good college football team and I'm going to stand by that moving on on to the NFL Brandon iuk the saga's over seriously like the Brandon IU hold in because you know he's still showing up in practice even though he wasn't practicing the Brandon IU hold in was like it was just forever it's about time and I love reading Adam scher's Twitter It's the funniest thing I I I love it so much because it happens shefer sends out the tweet and you know it's pretty obvious what he it's pretty obvious who texted him it was clearly John Lynch the 49ers GM because when Adam schfer sends out the Tweet he's like this is the same deal that's been in front of Brandon iuk for the for the entire time and he finally signed it it's like oh I wonder who leaked that information to Adam schfer undoubtedly someone in the 49ers front office and look it's about time and Brandon iuk made the right decision he made the right decision it's like hey do you want to sit here be coached by Kyle Shanahan one of the best play callers in the NFL a guy who is going to get the ball into your hands do you want to play with a quarterback in Brock pie who is never going to be the best quarterback in the NFL who I personally think is kind of limited but like this is a quarterback that you've had success with do you want to play with that guy or do you want to go to Pittsburgh and play with Russell Wilson or Justin Fields I would personally opt to play in San Francisco would you rather go play in Cleveland where deshun Watson hasn't been good since he came back from all of his off the field issues I personally would rather stay in San Francisco but that's just me and clearly that's Brandon iuk as well and the biggest thing though and the reason why I I like the decision that Brandon iuk made is that he's going to be relevant in January look every player wants to make money and if an NFL player came to me they're like look man like my my career might be 10 years long I feel like in these 10 years I need to make as much money as possible and because of that like I am instead going to take the money and I'm gonna sacrifice winning I would understand it but as someone who is highly competitive and wants to win like if you can make you know I think his deal is like $120 million over four years I can make $30 million a year and win versus go somewhere else make $35 million a year and lose I think I would stay where I was at and win a whole bunch of games because being relevant in January like that shouldn't matter like winning playoff games should matter to these guys and look if you don't believe me Tyreek Hill used to be a bigger deal than what he was because he was playing for the Chiefs and they were winning playoff games he was playing in Super Bowls and Patrick Mahomes was his quarterback and Travis Kelce man this Dynamic Trio of quarterback tight end receiver tearing up the league Tyreek hill was a big deal in Kansas City and then he said you know what I won my Super Bowl I would like to be paid please trade me away so so they send him to Miami where he's making a ton of money and that's great for him but his reputation and his popularity has changed he's not as popular as he was he went from Dynamic deep threat that can help the Chiefs win a Super Bowl to awesome stats guy when the weather's nice that's what he is now and he puts up numbers and sure that's fun I'm sure that he enjoys that but he's no longer relevant when you want to be relevant okay like Legends and Hall of Famers they aren't made in September they aren't and when we look at Tyreek Hill that's what he does now he's relevant in September right and it's like oh he had 190 receiving yards the other day against you know who who cares Meanwhile we're going to look at Brandon iuk in January and be like 49ers they're in another NFC title game and a large part of it is because Brandon iuk decided to stay I think that that's worth something okay I I I love the decision on his part because he's going to continue to be relevant late in the season and that is what all of these guys should want like there should be this desire to win games and to win playoff games and because of that I'm glad that Brandon iuk stayed I'm glad that he took a step back looked at his options of going going and playing on bad teams and losing and making a little extra money versus staying where he was at making a little less but still being successful I appreciate that he put winning over making an extra you know $5 million or whatever it would have been now there guys there is football going on this weekend big slate and I'm gonna do this every Friday from this Friday on through the end of the football season unwatchable watchable and must watch games usually the NFL games would be included in this but obviously there's no NFL games this week first NFL game is six days away Chiefs Ravens Thursday Night Football Amazon Prime I quite frankly can't wait I think that game's going to be absolutely electric rematch of an awesome playoff game from last year in which you know the Chiefs obviously won and they went on to win a Super Bowl but the game should be fun and wildly entertaining but we got college football going on this weekend and there's mult mple good games so let's start with the watchable games this weekend games that I think everyone should at least sit down turn on check it out the game could be great maybe the game's terrible start with those first one Penn State going on the road to take on West Virginia you know West Virginia's an interesting team okay they've got a quarterback that that people seem to really like got to be honest I don't Penn State though is ranked eighth you know this is where game day is going the atmosphere should be electric because West Virginia like they kind of expect to be good at football even though they haven't been so that game should be interesting I want to see how Penn State looks because they could potentially be a disruptor in the Big 10 I don't think they're gonna I I don't think they're going to be but you never know next watchable game South Dakota state they're the new FCS Powerhouse okay like they I believe that they won the FCS National Title last year they're playing 17th ranked Oklahoma state that game should be fun and entertaining South Dakota state has a quarterback who could potentially get drafted this year mustat games there are four of them Georgia Clemson at noon kicks us off number one against number 14 Davos Sweeney Kirby Smart I don't really think I have to say much more next game at 3:30 Miami on the road against Florida it's an you know it's an interstate battle that's a rivalry game should be fun I think Miami is going to win the ACC this year uh Florida though people have told me that they're going to be better I'll believe it when I see it next Notre Dame Texas A&M that is the night cap Saturday night I Texas A&M is loaded with Talent the fact that they're only ranked number 20 is kind of surprising that game is on the road in at Kyle Field like that is going to be an electric environment night game Mike Elco first game coaching first game back at Texas A&M he was the defensive coordinator now he's back as the head coach I like I like Texas A&M in that game taking on Seventh ranked Notre Dame that'll be Notre Dame's only loss of the year and then we got Sunday night football college football Edition USC LSU Clashing of styles LSU tough defense all those things Brian Kelly take it on 23rd ranked USC offense offense offense Lincoln Riley high powerered should be a lot of fun to watch and then the unwatchable games are every single other one there were way way too many way too many coming up five minutes Kevin pots writer of the Kevin spots NFL and NFL Draft breakdown substack he joins me talk a little NFL I had some takes that I got off earlier in the show we're going to go over those I'm gonna get his thoughts may talk a little bit about Colorado I know he watched that game last night I know he's everyone's interested in shadur and Travis shur Sanders and Travis Hunter so we'll probably get into that a little bit as well all that coming your way with Kevin Potts in about four and a half minutes e e e e e e e e e ladies and gentlemen it's time for it's the real Jonathan Smith show on Indie Sports ticket 1430 a.m. and 995 HD2 what's going on it's the real Jonathan Smith show here on Indie Sports tickets Came Out Swinging today big takes big guests today as well Kevin pots writer of the Kevin pots NFL and NFL who what just happened something bad just happened Kevin call back in buddy uh I think I just hung up on him on accident whoopsie um Kevin's supposed to join me here here in a second um great guy good dude um covers you know the NFL covers NFL draft all of those great things Kevin is that you yeah got you here sorry about nope you're good I that's on me I hit the wrong button um I'm willing to you know to take ownership of the things that I do wrong unlike Deion Sanders in in Colorado so all good all good thanks for coming on I I I know that you watched last night Colorado and in North Dakota State Kevin Potts does a lot of NFL draft stuff so I have to ask I love Sher Sanders I I don't like Colorado but I think shur is awesome I love the way that he stands in the pocket even when he's under pressure and delivers the ball accurately I like he looks like a first round guy to Me Maybe I'm overreacting to one game what are kind of your thoughts on shadur Sanders so I have a second round on them like a mid to late which is generally enough to get you into the first round as a quarterback accounting for that B I also really like him I good athlete I think he has a good arm I think he's very accurate runs that quick game super super well like you said he is willing to stand in there and take hits he is incredibly tough we saw that last night he was willing to take some big time shots to make big time plays the biggest question for him since he's not an amazing toolsy guy is improving that pocket presence he took a lot of sacks last year he took a lot last night some of it's because that offensive line is one of the worst in football but some of it is also his fault I think he needs to get just a little bit quicker at getting that ball out and know at the NFL level you're not going out athlete and make these plays all the time so I did think he looked good last night I think had some really nice FS with pressure in space that were improvement from last year but as the year goes on and the competition improves as they play these big 12 ranked teams I got to see less sacks out of him and getting the ball out time a little bit more how much of the sacks could be on play calling because I I felt like every pass play like Colorado didn't run a drag or a slant everything was like a deep over here's a post route like how much of that could be on on the play calling though I think it's on everyone play call in quarterback and offensive line I don't think there's one person to blame when you generate that many sacks it's usually a group effort but when I went back and watched his games over the course of the summer there was just a lot of times where yes it may have been a deep Ball but you had to check down to get you and he chose not to access it I think he's a good athlete I would actually like him to tuck and run more he had some great plays last night resetting his feet and finding guys over the middle and that's awesome to see from a future NFL quarterback but sometimes mik dude you're good just tuck the ball run and just get some yards I think that will alleviate some of it and some of it comes with experience at this level as things get faster getting more comfortable but I do think a lot of it him quarterback sometime and it's a pretty big stat to look at in terms of pressure the sack ratio for incoming prospects and how they're going to fair at the second level and he's just not very good at it right now okay fair enough joined by Kevin Potts writer of the Kevin pots NFL and NFL draft breakdowns substack what about Travis Hunter he's an incredible athlete obviously plays both sides of the ball what are kind of your thoughts on him as a corner and as a a wide receiver I mean what what can't this kid do I he he's special I don't think there's really any other way to put it just in terms of the conditioning and the mental willpower to prepare for two positions alone is spectacular I had him graded as a receiver and a cornerback as both first-rounders they by 13th and 14th overall player in this class at each position I have him slightly head at Wide Receiver right now I prefer to see him play a corner I think the instincts and the ball skills at corner are just so much rare but we saw last night how good he can be as a wide receiver and the instincts at the catch Point are getting better and better which is something we didn't see as much last year at both sides ball he needs polish which is to be understanded he is a two-way player you are doing a lot right now and you're winning with a lot of athleticism but I think he's legit first round Prospect at both positions and he's going to probably have to pick at the next level but I think he can do both at a very very high level so look I I don't know enough about scouting and how to figure out which one he should do I I think that if I was Travis Hunter the way that I would approach it is like you don't see s Gardner in as many commercials as you do like Devonte Adams or uh Justin Jefferson so I think there's a little more popularity that comes with that and also CD lamb and Justin Jefferson just got paid I haven't seen a quarterback get paid like those guys so that is what I would do and watching him last night as a receiver man like the last touchdown reception that he made like that to me like that's enough to be like yeah you should play receiver you know what I mean yeah that poor number 17 from North Dakota State really got thrown to the Wolves last night but but I agree I me we have about A10 million doll difference between the top receiver and the top Corner if I was Hunter and I think I can play both at a high level which he rightfully thinks he should I choose wide receivers that's the money is it seems like all summer most of the NFL on the scouts would prefer to see him at corner I would as well but I would totally understand for financial reasons and popularity reasons why he'd choose wide receiver I do think if there's any way he does a two-way Gambit in the NFL it would be as a full-time corner and as a gadget wide receiver three or four I don't think you can do the reverse where you start at wide receiver and Moonlight at corner so that is something to consider if he ever does want to give two a just like Dion did at the next level it would probably be as a corner primary wide receiver secondary that is a great Point once again joined by Kevin Potts writer of the Kevin pots NFL and NFL draft breakdowns substack if you go to his Twitter at Kevin pot6 you can go to his link tree and you can find all of his stuff there so speaking of wide receivers getting paid a bunch of money for my listeners who are not familiar with Kevin Kevin is a 49ers fan how relieved are you now that that Brandon auk Saga is finally over it feels really good I think I can speak for all NFL fans we're happy to not have to hear about an update about nothing every single day for the past few months but yeah it's great to get done uh it's a deal that the exact the they should have done back in May after omaron Brown got paid not sure why it took this long but it's good to get him back on the field get a contract done and for a team that's trying to win a Super Bowl uh that's pretty important it it really is I'm I'm glad that stayed like I I think that if it was me I think I would rather make CU look like if he'd gone to Pittsburgh or New England he probably would have made like 35 million a year whereas now he's gonna make 30 million like I don't know I'd rather take five million less and win a whole bunch of games and play with Kyle Shanahan but maybe that's just me um but I'm excited like the 49ers there a real team now I guess I don't have them making the playoffs I I think I think they're going to struggle this year but we we will see on on that are there any cuts that happened this year you know because cut day was you know on Tuesday were there any Cuts this year that really kind of surprised you I don't know if they end up surprising me but two good players I thought got moved were both Broncos San Pan the runningback and Tim Patrick the wide receiver they basically became victim of a team that is kind of retooling and has young players at both those positions and Patrick and peryan cost some money so they get moved on for I still think their quality players P Chiefs it would not Shock me if he us their third down back the entirety of the year and Tim Patrick ends up with the lion which is perfect they need a true outside xwide receiver he's probably not the player who was pre-injury but he's big he's tough he blocks super well and just fits that mentality so those are two guys I think are going to make an impact that end up getting cut from the original team okay once again joined by Kevin Potts riter of the Kevin Potts NFL and NFL draft breakdowns substack what about are there any I'm assuming that the waiver pickups that stuck out to you were were for p Ryan and and and and uh Tim Patrick that's what I'm going to assume because those are the the cuts that that that kind of not surprised you but you thought were kind of a bigger deal yeah and I mean there's always a couple other two uh maybe like less known name KJ Henry got cut by the commanders he was a third uh day three pick a few years ago new jeene comes in don't really like him let him go I still think he's a quality Edge he got uh picked up on waiver by the Bengals it would not Shock me if you see him as a quality rotation piece for that team if you want a name that's maybe a little bit less familiar okay fair enough so I am doing this series that that I started today I'm calling it final five takes so the five day or the five shows leading up to the start of the NFL season I'm given five takes and my final five shows leading up to the start of the Colt season I'm given five kind of big swing takes so for the NFL I I had to do two today because I'm off on Monday I kind of forgot about that for the NFL I said that I think that the Jags are going to win the AFC South and that I think let's start with that one what do you think the chances are of the Jaguars kind of bouncing back after a rough finish to from last year to to win the AFC South this year I think it's entirely possible uh they were a team I was super high on last year I thought they have a top 10 offense that obviously did not go super well I think the moves they made in their skill position groups creates a better offense I love the moves on defense bringing R to defensive coordinator the only the reason I see that doesn't happen outside obviously that division looks pretty tough this year it's how does that offensive line play it was one of the worst in all of football last year Trevor Lawrence got hit a lot if they can figure out to get those five playing at just an average level it would not Shock me if this comes together because I think they have a very good quarterback and they have some really good Playmakers on offensive side the ball yeah I'm I'm excited about them just General and I I think that Trevor Lawrence has taken a bunch of crap even though I thought he was really good last year completed 66% of his passes still threw for 4,000 yards and and 21 touchdowns like you said the offensive line wasn't very good he was hurt a lot last year spraining the AC joint the shoulder a high ankle sprain a concussion he still played 16 games in spite of that which is in incredible and my thing is if he's just healthier this year then he'll be better and in turn the Jaguar should also be better because of that yeah I agree I think if you look at their season last year too is they got off to a pretty decent start and about when he hurt that ankle is when the team started to fall apart and he was still very good like you mentioned but he wasn't as good as he was to the start of the year and I do think if you can keep him healthy and upright that is a top 10 quarterback in football and he can cover up a lot of your mistakes and issues you might have on that side of the ball yeah I think I think he's awesome I I I I think he's still one of the best 10 quarterbacks in the NFL he was just banged up last year uh once again joined by Kevin pots writer of the Kevin pots NFL and NFL draft breakdowns substack head over to his Twitter Kevin pots 06 and uh you can see his his link tree there and you can get a link to to all of his stuff so if I've got the Jaguars winning the division that means that obviously I don't have Houston and everyone loves Houston so Kevin we got a guy who who calls into the the sh after mine his name is the SackMan he wins most of his bets because he just Fades the public and so that's kind of what I'm doing here I'm fading the idea that Jacksonville is not going to be very good and I'm fading the idea that the Texans are going to be awesome and I I think that people love this Stefon Diggs Edition for Houston I think it's gonna provide more problems than answers like he's 30 like the bills threw the ball more to khil Shakir at the end of last year then they did Stefon Diggs I like I think when the trade first came through I was really excited about it but as as The more I've thought about it I think Diggs is gonna provide some issues what do you kind of expect for him in Houston I don't think you're super far off on I'm very curious to see how this works because I do think on paper it was a very good addition they needed a wide receiver three I think he pairs very well with the two they have there but like you mentioned there's a little bit of this course between him and Allen and the bills before he left about targets and all that stuff so getting a guy in who might be best served to your second or third target behind Nico Collins as the one might make some issues I would guess he gets a lot of targets very early to make him comfortable in this offense and as we get closer and closer to the postseason maybe it starts tailing off a little bit as they figure out what's the best uh version of this team I still think they' be very good I have them winning the division but it would not Shock me if the Diggs Edition does not go swimmingly as everyone expects because of the name value of the receiver because he's not we all remember him being based on that name yeah he's 30 I didn't I I kind of forgot that he was not old but like kind of old um and you know like I I was thinking about the Browns last night when I was when I was thinking about this and I don't know if I don't know if you remember but 2018 Baker shows up people think he's the savior they go they they get Odell Beckham and he was bad Odell Beckham and then 2020 Odell Beckham gets hurt and Baker Mayfield kind of returns to not prominence but you know the Browns went 11 and five and they were a lot better with with Odo beckhams Jr out and I just think that when you pair young quarterbacks like CJ strad with you know Diva receivers like Stefan Diggs who expect to get a bunch of targets I I think that Stroud may feel some pressure to throw the ball to Diggs and that could lead to more picks and a lower kind of com completion percentage if that all makes sense yeah I think that's a fair worry because ideally you have all three receivers basically splitting targets equally and it this perfect functioning offense but like you said that's not always the reality that we live in and shroud may feel some of that pressure and if it does go that way it would not Shock me if you see some gain slip upups over the course of the year because they're trying to do a Stefon dig Centric game plan and it's not the best thing that bills had some of those issues last year ear they were trying to force it their offense got a lot better in the second half year like you mentioned when it was a lot more secure because it created a better offensive game plan than just forcing a little bit of an over theill wide receiver I think they should be fine I really like the leadership and that coaching staff and stad seems to be a lot more put together as a quarterback in terms of a Young quarterback but I do think it's a very fair concern and thing to bring up because we don't really know how this is going to work and dig not exactly had the friend in both of his last two spots two more questions for you Kevin and I will let you go so I made a mistake I skipped over one of my questions from earlier once again joined by Kevin pots Ryder of the Kevin Potts NFL an NFL draft breakdowns substack FCS football I I find fascinating I I like North Dakota State what did you think about their quarterback last night um C cam Miller I I thought North Dakota State should have thrown the ball more cuz like it seemed like the kid could really throw it from a potential NFL quarterback kind of standpoint what do you think about cam Miller I'm interested is probably how I would say it I don't think he's anything close to like a legit Prospect but he's clearly a good athlete there's a bunch of good stuff running around I thought there was some good instances of him trying to work through reads it's always tough with broadcast Coffey but I also really like his toughness he's willing to stand in there and take some shots he me good plays he does crazy out of the pocket and takes too many sacks and hits but he's a young FCS quarterback I get that that happened my issue with them I don't understand why they were rotating quarterbacks it did not make sense to me when you were down 11 points at the end of the game on a key fourth down and you're bringing in the backup you're getting false starts you're not you're wasting time I didn't understand it if the starter wasn't playing well that's one thing but like you said Miller looked really good for large portion of the game had some huge third down conversions over the course of the game I didn't understand the way they handled that quarterback situation because I thought Miller had a really nice game yeah I I thought he was I thought he was so good like and you know they they kind of talked about him beforehand and my concern was the way that they had at least discuss him was like is he gonna be able to throw the ball and he like he was really efficient in in in passing the football and I wanted to use that to lead into South Dakota State because they play Oklahoma State on Saturday and I cannot remember the name of the starting quarterback for South Dakota state but he's supposed to be really good as well have you looked in into him at all I'm just kind of curious I have not watched any of him but I did watch a few games of him last year because they had um a really good running back who came out and I think South Dakota from what I've seen South Dakota state is what we remember North Dakota State being they're the FCS Powerhouse that is supposed to be really really good so I'm very excited for this this game against Oklahoma State because Oklahoma state is a very good team I think this is the upset watch for this weekend if you're looking to tune into an FCS team it would A&M would Texas A&M over Notre Dame count as an upset because that's that's the one that I that I kind of like Ian I believe betting wise that it would be considered an upset but I would not be super shocked ifm did that I have a big fan of both their quarterback Ander the're two top 30 players for me so if they went out there um and put up a big performance against a very good Notre Dame team in my opinion it would not Shock Me in the slightest but it counts as an upset if they are underdogs on the book in my opinion okay sounds good Kevin thanks for your time man you were you're great as always thanks man appreciate it always fun coming on y see you that is Kevin pots follow him on Twitter Kevin pots Z6 you can find a link in his bio to all of his stuff good Rider does really good NFL draft breakdowns if you're curious about who the Colts could wind up drafting next year even though it's probably a little bit earlier for that conversation when we come back here in about four minutes we continue Colts conversation final five takes Colts Edition I've got a big cold Ste for you coming your way here in about four minutes e e e e e e e e often imitated never duplicated it's the real Jonathan Smith show on Indie Sports tickets 1430 a.m. and 995 HD2 the real Jonathan Smith show here on Indie Sports ticket we started Dan and I did that bet 365 seg M yesterday and uh we both missed Dan took Colorado minus 9 and a half that didn't happen I took University of Arkansas Pine Bluff to cover a 15 and a half point spread that didn't happen either so uh yeah there you go but something that is going to happen this year Anthony Richardson is going to have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of 3 to one that is good going to happen this is final five Colts takes F on the five final shows leading up to the start of the Colts season so today and every show next week off on Monday I'm gonna give you a take and this is my first one Anthony richson is going to have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of 3 to one I don't know what this is going to look like I don't know what the total number of rushing touchdowns is going to be I don't know what the total number of passing touchdowns to be but if I had to guess I would say that Anthony Richardson is going to finish the season and be around 13 rushing touchdowns and 25 passing touchdowns so somewhere around 38 total touchdowns on the season and I don't think that I have to defend his ability to run the football but I will he ran the ball highly effectively in the Red Zone last year in the short Glimpse is that we saw him in 12 quarters of play so four games essentially he had four rushing touchdowns pacing for 16 or 17 excuse me if plays the full season so maybe I'm even being a little conservative on the 13 rushing touchdowns not really I I I do think that he's going to run the ball in into the Pay Dirt quite a bit this year so look big strong fast dude we know that Shane Sten wants to run him right compared his running ability to Steph Curry's ability to shoot threes pretty crazy okay so inside the Red Zone I think we're going to see the Colts churn out a lot of touchdowns on the ground this year from Anthony Richardson and in addition to those 13 rushing touchdowns that Anthony Richardson's gonna have he's gonna have 25ish passing touchdowns okay look I I think the Colts are going to have one of the if not the best red zone offense in the NFL this year Anthony Richardson obviously dual threat guy gotta worry about him running it gotta worry about him throwing it Jonathan Taylor great running back people keep telling us how great this offensive line is supposed to be this year and look if you have a dominant offensive line a running quarterback who can also kind of throw it you should score a lot of touchdowns when you get into the Red Zone okay so if everything everybody's telling us is true and Anthony richon can stay healthy because that is obviously a concern then this Colts team is going to put up a lot of touchdowns when they get into the Red Zone but you know 25 passing touchdowns that's that's a that's a decent number okay I think that because of the Improvement on the edges for the Colts out on the perimeter at wide receiver I I think that Anthony richon is gonna be pretty successful in throwing the football this year I think we're going to see him get a couple cheap touchdowns because the Colts actually have speed outside at receiver okay like it's not just Michael Pitman Jr anymore on the outside like Josh Downs it's a guy with four4 speed like he could take a slant route to the house ad Mitchell that's a guy with 43 speed that's another guy who can take you know a slant route to the house or or he can go buy somebody one-on-one catch it and be gone okay same thing with Anthony Gould that's another 43 guy who's got big play written all over him that's why he's returning kicks or even Jonathan Taylor out of the backfield on screen passes can can grab it and just be gone so I think because of the speed that the Colts have we're going to see some big plays that result in passing touchdowns for Anthony Richardson and ultimately this idea of Anthony Richardson being three to one touchdowns to to turnovers comes from my faith in Shane Sten okay Shane Sten is going to create a powerful offense with Anthony Richardson as the quarterback the Colts were the Colts had a good offense last year they were 11th in scoring last year with Gardner muu as their starting quarterback come on that guy Gardner men is a backup seriously sure Vegas paid him he's their starter but he's a placeholder the Raiders are going to be bad this year and they're going to draft a quarterback with you know one of the first few picks in the NFL draft next year okay with that guy at as his starting quarterback Shane styken put out the 11th best scoring offense in the NFL with very little Jonathan Taylor due to the contract dispute and and the thumb injury that happened and due to and with only one legitimate receiver in Michael Pitman Jr Josh DS was good last year but he only had what 68 receptions if I remember correctly okay now Shane Sten is he's got some upgrades on the offensive side of the ball the offensive line is supposed to be awesome this year that's what everyone keeps telling us okay Jonathan Taylor is not caught up in a contract dispute not playing games okay they're bringing in a lot of speed ad Mitchell second round receiver that people keep raving about he should help enhance the offense Josh DS he should be better in year two and he was good in year one Michael Pitman Jr obviously back after 100 reception thousand yard receiving year last year like this Colts offense is going to be better and Shane styken is a good offensive coach clearly had success with Jaylen Herz in Philadelphia had success with Justin Herbert in Los Angeles and he had success last year with Gardner muu I'm willing to bet that he's gonna figure out some sort of way to put points on the board with Anthony Richardson as his starting quarterback the Colts are going to be better offensively this year they're going to be one of the better teams in the NFL when it comes to scoring touchdowns in the red zone and because of that Anthony Richardson's touchdown numbers are going to flourish now as high as the highs are going to be because I think that we expect for the highs to be pretty high okay Anthony richardon is going to make mistakes it's going to happen it's going to happen so I'm going to put him around 10 interceptions and three fumbles on the year that's kind of what I'm expecting and I think part of what makes Shane styken a good head coach is I think he's just going to make a lot of the throws especially early in the year as easy on Anthony Richardson as possible I don't think that he's going to be asking Anthony Richardson to to throw the ball in Solo cup-sized Windows okay I think there's going to be a lot of like easy short completions maybe some screen passes here and there maybe they stay away from the option routes after what happened against the Bengal okay I think they're going to make things easy on him especially early in terms of his ability to throw the football now look the interception thing it's a weird number I kind of want for my quarterbacks to throw interceptions which sounds a little backwards but you know scary money don't make money right that's that's the saying guys who throw interceptions usually throw them because they're trying to fit the ball into Tight Windows and and they miss off off by a little bit right they're usually further down the field so honestly don't mind it if Anthony Richardson throws around 10 picks I will mind every fumble that he commits because he's going to Fumble the football this year and the other team is going to jump on it a few times those I will mind because that's a really like high and tight right like that's that's what they teach you like I feel like that should be kind of an easy thing to manage but you know like I said the Lowe's like they're going to come he's going to turn the ball over it's going to happen you just have to hope that those mistakes don't come at the wrong time like that's the biggest thing like don't turn the ball over when you're on your own 20 and like I said like this comes back to Shane Sten I I think that that interception that he threw against the Bengals kind of sits in all of our heads right where like he throw like Colts have the ball and like their own 10 and they're throwing the ball like that's not a decision that I think that the Colts are going to make early in the year right when he's still pretty raw because he is raw he hasn't played a ton like that's not a decision that this coaching staff is going to make so I think that the coaching for the Colts they're going to put Anthony Richardson in the right positions and because of that he's going to play well because there is a decent amount of talent around him on the offensive side of the ball giving my Indianapolis Colts record prediction a week from today I've already got it but I'm gonna make you wait for it because you never know like maybe they show up at practice tomorrow and Nick cross decides to tackle Anthony Richardson and he gives him a concussion I don't know wouldn't put anything by the Colts at this point but when we come back here in four minutes or so got a couple more takes a couple big final five NFL takes before that season starts I'm giving you two because I should have started it yesterday forgot I was off on Monday thanks for tuning into to the real Jonathan Smith show I'll be back here in four minutes to tell you why Stefon digs to the Texans is an issue top of the hour noon Stephan OD joins me to talk a little big 10 college football but Stefon digs to the Texans why it's overrated in 4 minutes e e when you ask on indies's Sports tickets this is not my last segment of the day I got a third hour coming your way from noon to one filling in for you know the first hour of the Dan docket show where I get to continue doing this thing that I I really love doing um it's great I love it I've got to take for you Stefon D to the Texans is overrated and it's going to make the Houston Texans worse simple as that the trend for these past few years has been to get these young good talented quarterbacks great receivers to help the Young quarterback improve right we saw the Dolphins do it they would they go out they get Tyreek Hill they bring him into the building and all of a sudden what a surprise Tua looks like one of the looks like a legitimate franchise quarterback the Eagles do the same thing they go out they add AJ Brown and you know it's great it's fun it's awesome and Jaylen Herz benefits from it and you know there's multiple other examples of this including the bills going out and getting stuff on dicks to help Josh Allen but there is an example of this where it did not work out and I think we're going to see something similar transpire with CJ strout and Stefon digs in 2018 this is my my example when it didn't work out 2018 Baker Mayfield was taken first overall in the NFL draft started 13 games that year appeared in 14 he had a really good Year everyone thought that the Cleveland Browns had finally found their guy they'd finally found a quarterback that was going to keep guys from putting Brown Bags over their heads okay those 13 games he threw for 3,700 yards 27 touchdowns 14 interceptions and he completed 64% of his passes Browns went six and seven but people didn't care they didn't care all in all everyone who watched that Browns team a lot of people who watched Baker were very pleased with the way that he performed everyone thought that Cleveland had their guy so in the off season Cleveland's like let's get this guy some more weapons if we give him more weapons he'll be even better right wrong they call the New York Giants and they traded for Odell Beckham Jr and every Browns fan and every Baker Mayfield fan went crazy everyone thought that Odell Beckham's arrival in Cleveland would only make Baker Mayfield better but that's not what happened he got worse Baker Mayfield got worse when Odell Beckham Jr showed up in 2019 the year after his rookie year his first year playing with Odell Beckham Baker Mayfield started all 16 games OD Beckham Jr started all 16 games over the course of those 16 games Baker Mayfield for 3,800 yards only a 100 yard increase despite playing an extra two games in 2019 he threw 22 touchdowns five less than he did his rookie season even though he played two extra games he threw 21 interceptions in 2019 seven more than he did the previous year and he completed 59% of his passes as opposed to 64% the previous year he got worse but when you bring in an elite receiver like Odell Beckham Jr was at the time only 28 years old still in his prime he got worse why that that doesn't make sense it's like oh well they just needed time to mesh that's funny the following year Odell Beckham Jr gets hurt Baker Mayfield then returned to his former self the Browns went 11 and five made the playoffs Baker completed 63% of his passes up from 59% the year prior he thre for 3500 yards 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions with Odell Beckham Jr out of the lineup Baker Mayfield was better and I believe that it's because Odo Beckham Jr is notorious when he was younger he's not this way anymore notorious for being a diva wide receiver that expected to have the ball thrown his way every time that he went out in the pattern and at that point notto Beckham Jr's career he had earned the right to feel that way and so when Baker Mayfield's on the field with Odell Beckham like there was this pressure to throw the football his way to make sure he got his targets to keep this Diva receiver happy and it didn't pan out well for the Browns and for Baker Mayfield and then when oldo Beckham Jr got hurt Baker Mayfield went back to being a solid quarterback and I think we're going to see something similar with CJ strad and Stefon Diggs this year Stefon digs has been the number one receiver his whole career entire career and that changed at the end of last year when the Buffalo Bills fired their offensive coordinator and they elevated Joe Brady to being their offensive coordinator they ran the ball a lot more they threw it to Stefon digs less and when they did decide to throw the ball they didn't throw it to Stefon digs in fact if you go back and you look at the Buffalo Bills is final four regular regular season games and their playoff game against the Chiefs just their last five games if you look at their last five games Stefon Diggs was not the leading receiver for the bills it was khil Shakir who had 267 receiving yards in the Bills final five games Stefon Diggs final five games Stefon digs big or supposed to be this big amazing wide receiver only had 215 yards receiving in their final five games Khalil Shakir had two receiving touchdowns in their final five games meanwhile Stefon Diggs had zero zero the Bills win away from Stefon Diggs at the end of last year and that's part of why he wanted out he was upset he wasn't getting the targets that he thought that he should get so he ends up unhappy he starts to voice his opinion and the bills are like okay we'll see you Houston do you guys want this problem they Houston's like yeah we're we're great with problems we have that one saying you know Houston we have a problem and they do now if Stefon Diggs doesn't get his targets then he's going to be unhappy about it and he's not just gonna sit there and be mad and go do his job he's gonna sit there be mad and tell everybody why he's upset and young quarterbacks aren't always equipped to handle that they aren't C CJ stra might be I could be wrong I don't think I am okay I I think they're really going to struggle to deal with Stefon Diggs and just his personality in the room and if Stefon Diggs was the number one receiver for this Houston team I wouldn't feel that way but he's at best going to be their second best receiver because Nico Collins is the best receiver on that Houston Texans football team and that's going to bother Stefon Diggs because that's the less targets for him and that's going to cause some Ruffles and guess what there's a real world where Stefon Diggs is their third receiver CJ strad was asked when he was doing his podcast tour this offseason he was asked you know if you could have any three receivers in the NFL in in the history of the NFL on his team who would he pick and he said Calvin Johnson good pick Jerry Rice great pick the should have been his first pick and tank Dell the second wide receiver in Houston last year who got hurt okay so he's had success with Nico Collins he clearly likes tank Dell based off of that comment and he don't know anything about Stefon Diggs there's a decent chance that Stefon digs is the third receiver on this team he's not going to be okay with that and that's going to cause some Ruffles the Houston Texans are going to regress this year Stefon Diggs isn't going to help them okay like the Texans went 10 and seven last year only two of those wins came against teams that made the playoffs okay it wasn't like they were beating you know the Chiefs and the Ravens in those teams they were beating the Jets who cares about that they're going to regress the Texans are going to finish with a losing record eight- n that is my prediction and because the Texans are going to finish with a losing record they obviously aren't going to win the division so I'm taking the Jacksonville Jaguars to rebound and win the AFC South simple as that their schedule's easy they only have four tough out ofc conference games Miami on the road buffalo on the road Philly Philly on the road and Detroit on the road every other game is incredibly winnable for them incredibly winnable and we also need to keep in mind that Trevor Lawrence is an elite quarterback he's one of the best 10 quarterbacks in the NFL he was you know said to have had a bad year last year and people are off the Trevor Lawrence bandwagon but in a quote unquote bad year he completed two-thirds of his passes 66% he threw for 4,000 yards 21 touchdowns he did turn it over a little bit too much with 14 interceptions but that's not a bad season especially when you weigh in the fact that he had a ton of injuries he sprained the AC joint in his throwing shoulder okay for reference Anthony Richardson tore his AC joint last year and was out for the rest of the year okay that's not a fun injury to deal with he had a high ankle sprain and a concussion and he still played 16 games it is incredibly difficult to be as productive as Trevor Lawrence was while being that banged up and also playing behind an offensive line that was not very good telling you guys the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to win the division this year okay because I think it's going to be hard for Trevor Lawrence to be less healthy than he was last year so if he's healthier he will be better and in turn the rest of the Jacksonville Jaguars will be better their first round pick Thomas Bryant Jr wide receiver out of LSU big fast can just absolutely fly everything I've read everything I've heard points to Thomas Bryant Jr being amazing in their camp now look it's Camp it's preseason okay like it it doesn't really mean much but it's better than hearing that he sucks so Thomas Bryan Jr a guy who could potentially have a big impact for the Jags they also bring in Gabe Davis okay like the offense is going to be better this year Doug Peterson is a proven head football coach he won a Super Bowl with Carson Wentz and Nick BS as his quarterbacks I'm willing to bet he can win with Trevor Lawrence okay they also have a third place schedule which was beneficial last year they had a first place schedule and look it's just it's going to be hard for Trevor Lawrence to be more banged up than he was and I just I trust Doug Peterson to do a good job as a head coach I trust Doug Peterson to do a good job of getting their Playmakers the football in space and putting up a lot of points in their defense this year is going to be better their defense for the Jacksonville Jaguars this year is going to be better Josh Allen The Edge rusher not the quarterback for the bills he had 17 sacks last year one of the best pass rushers in football and he's not alone anymore because they went out in free agency something Chris Ballard's never even thought about doing they went out in free agency and they brought in Eric Armstead a guy who's had a pretty good career in San Francisco in terms of his ability to get after the quarterback they'll be better defensively because of that as well they had a quietly good off season the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to win the division get on them right now because everyone's off of them okay you know everyone loved them going in to last year because they did what the Texans did last year right they you know won the division late won a crazy playoff game and going into last year everyone loved Jacksonville and now everyone's off of them okay they're they're on to the new shiny toy the Houston Texans who are about to really struggle because they have to deal with Stefon Diggs okay I'm telling you guys the Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence are going to win the division they're going to go somewhere around 11- six M maybe 10 and seven wins the Division this year I don't I don't think it does I I think 11 is the number that you have to get to Jacksonville Jaguars win the AFC South with a record of 11 and six and other news thing happening tonight Angel ree Caitlyn Clark playing basketball baby right the most expensive WNBA ticket ever at least on record okay it's it's gonna be Cinema because it's always Cinema when Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese square off and they play basketball against one another I'm locked in I'm ready for it 7:30 ion Caitlyn Clark Angel Reese drama claw coming out it's going to be Fant fantastic and I just can't wait can't wait to watch Caitlyn Clark knock down 20 28 foot three-pointers and then on the other end watch Angel ree grab four of her own misses and then miss again can't wait to watch it all unfold I I just I think the thing that I'm most looking forward to tonight is that the uh the loud minority of Angel re supporters out there that somehow someway think that she's better than cait Clark they're going to get to see them both on the floor tonight it's going to be so incredibly evident how much better Caitlyn Clark is than Angel ree the shooting the passing the handle Caitlin Clark not a bad rebounder either and I I love it when she gets rebounds when she gets rebounds man get the ball push it up the floor just the way that The Fever play in general I love it man like rebound find Caitlyn we're running I I think every basketball team at every age should do that because you know when you push the ball you get mismatches and then you can you know attack the mismatch and you know if they don't stop the ball then you get a layup if they do you back it out and you exploit wherever the mismatch is so cannot wait to watch that game going on tonight joining me top of the hour noon that's right I'm staying on it noon the one and only Stephanie OD covers you know mainly Ohio State but she talks just a lot of college football in general she's going to join me we're going to talk about the college football games coming up this weekend a lot of big 10 stuff going to talk a little bit about IU they're going to be fun to watch look they're playing FIU like we're not really going to learn much of anything about Indiana but either way I'm excited to watch him I'm excited to see Kurt cetti on the sideline okay like they're they're going to be I think a lot of fun to watch they're set to play at 3:30 on the Big 10 Network against Florida International the game shouldn't be close shouldn't be doesn't mean that it it it won't be because you know week one can be a little weird sometimes um so I'm super just excited to watch Kurt Kurt zetti and and the rest of that team my thing just went crazy I believe that Purdue played last night I'm honestly not sure I'll be honest with you because let's be honest everyone knows that Purdue is gonna be terrible hard to get excited about that but I do feel like there's a decent amount of positive momentum Sur rounding IU I think people are legitimately excited for what Kurt Signet is bringing I'm ex excited to talk to to Stephanie about it uh at the top of the hour noon coming up here in about five minutes so we'll talk IU we'll talk big 10 gonna be good Stephanie OD joining me here in about five minutes on the real Jonathan Smith show on IND Sports ticket uh Dan ngage here for Just Add Water Boats I e e e e e e e e e I'd like to take this chance to apologize to absolutely nobody you must think I'm dumb you probably beat up in the bus startop most of the usually this is the Dan D doet show it is the D doet show but producer Jonathan filling in today Dan taking advantage of the long weekend he is going to be he's out today so I'm in for the first hour then then we'll flip over to Jim Rome big announcement before we get to Stephanie OD to talk Ohio State and a little bit of big 10 football cumulus broadcasting the company that owns this station we're putting on a big event Saturday October 26 from noon to 3 it is bourbon or Bourbon and birdies so it's going to happen at back nine golf where you know it's basically Top Golf it's a great time show up rent out of bay drink some awesome Bourbon and just have a good time joining me now Stephanie OD the lady that you go to for all things Ohio State Stephanie how are you I'm doing so great now that I'm back in Columbus with week one we have football tomorrow am doing great Jonathan I I'm so glad like last night was just so nice like I got home I read my book and then I sat down and I watched some col football for a few hours it's great Saturday the the Slate is loaded and I'm with you I'm just I'm so glad that it's back so obviously like we we have to talk IU I think there's a lot of momentum around Kurt Signet and just there's just a lot of excitement for the first time around IU football in a long time what do you think would be a good first year for for cetti in this IU team yeah I mean I think that was a great hire he's got a great track record and everyone loves the trash talk but this still is an Indiana hooers team that's coming off of a three- win season and they're banking on transfers potentially 15 starters at uh from transfers but I think it could be an uphill battle for them uh the schedule is not unbearable for them uh but the benefit to them is that they no longer have that big 10 Eastern Division uh there's a 12 game playoff I I don't see that and the works for them this season but uh in a few years uh it should be able to get there but you know it's an uphill battle for them right now but there are some scheduling things working in their favor there there are and that is I I think that's one of the it's one of the bad things I would say about the the conference expansion because like we've got some really great games like Ohio State and Oregon that game's going to be in Eugene it's going to be just absolutely awesome but then you've got some teams like IU and Penn State that have these really kind of soft schedules how do you kind of view pin State this year given how soft their schedule is compared to teams like like Ohio State yeah well you know thinking of that Eastern Division going away I think out of any team in all of college football pen state benefits the most from this ex extended playoff six years they would have been in the playoff if they had that 12 game uh playoff earlier but now there's no divisions and best of any schedule situation in the Big 10 for them they have an experienced quarterback uh but you know there's there's a lot of expectations with James Franklin they're eighth ranked right now uh but you know looking at them they have a good defense returning they still have some big names on the schedule but they should absolutely be in the playoffs they should be like they're yeah like like you said like they benefit more than anyone else their schedule is a huge break this year they play Ohio State I know later in the year but outside of that they have a tough game against USC that's that's really it joined by Stephanie OD who covers the the Buckey of Ohio State and all things Big 10 college football so I I think that the national consensus around the Big 10 is that Ohio State and Oregon are just a step above everyone else in the Big 10 how big of a gap do you think there is between those two teams and kind of that second tier of like Michigan and Penn State yeah see this is where I definitely have to put my emotions aside and not just go out with Ohio State because I was looking at those Futures and Oregon is a real threat um you see some rebuilding with some teams Michigan uh you know they should still have a top rank defense they lose out on a lot of offense that they lose from you know they lose Jim Harbaugh they lose J.J McCarthy but it's still Michigan we're talking about so I think when you're looking at the jump from some of these teams like Oregon Ohio State you know then there's a little bit of Penn State Michigan's still up there but Michigan State there is a drop off I mean these are National contenders the talk about the SEC and how some of these teams compete with those it's a drop off when you look at the national caliber uh I mean just looking at the talent returning for a lot of these teams you're competing against the the top receiving in Oregon and Ohio State it's a big jump off and that game in particular could be the national championship National Championship I mean likely they'll see each other again in the Big 10 Championship because there again there's no divisions so they those two teams could face up three times this season it'll be interesting it it will be I I'm so intrigued by both of them I like Oregon to win the regular season Big 10 just because when Ohio State and organ play like it is in Eugene and that's not an easy place to play what about Washington though like I think that there's so much attention on Oregon joining the Big 10 that like like they're not the only team like obviously there's USC there's Washington as well how do you kind of view the other three teams joining the the conference yeah I mean I think the biggest shock to them will be in defense right like a lot of betters when their when their slate doesn't go right at the beginning of the Saturday they do the hail Mar and embed on a Pack 12 game uh that conference has changed a lot there it was a old always high scoring so I think the biggest shock to them is how defense has played in in the Big 10 uh I look at Lincoln Riley at UC and and and what they could bring um they have an opportunity to impress the committee against LSU which could leave a big impression but they need a lot of improvement on defense they now enter the Big 10 it could be a shock for them after those high-scoring games but Lincoln Riley has made it to the playoffs uh with the nation's top offense can he do that without a top defense and he'll be facing those here and historically those teams are a top 10 defense and offense so you can't come in one-sided you got to have it on both ends that's that's a great Point once again joined by Stephanie OD talking a little big 10 college football USC I I find fascinating I think it'll be hard for them to be worse defensively this year than they were last year I think they just have to walk onto the field and they'll be a lot better the offense thing is is interesting just because like it's it's Lincoln Riley I don't think it matters who his quarterback is I'm excited for that game I believe that's the the Sunday night game when they take on LSU that that should be pretty interesting and I think that when we we look at the big 10 like the top four teams feel really easy to pick you know um Ohio State Oregon Penn State Michigan but if there was a team to finish in the top four that isn't one of those four who who would you kind of pick for that kind of sleeper team to be yeah you know I think I think there's a lot to talk around Nebraska that RS first season they finished five- seven overall three and six in conference but in five of those games they lost by a combination of 19 points including four by just a field goal they ranked 13 and team defense uh struggled on offense but in year two uh you know they get a a top 2024 quarterback prospect he's a legacy at Nebraska he was committed to Ohio State and Georgia but you know ended up sticking with the family ties and and went with Nebraska their defense returned seven starters they're expected to be big again so there's a lot of potential on this Nebraska team and with an 18 an 18 team Big 10 scheduling plays you know a larger part we said that before but they don't face Michigan Oregon or Penn State so the Corn Huskers take care of business with those lesser teams they could be fighting for a playoff spot so that's a dark horse I do like that could sneak into the top 25 I'm I'm with you whenever I I think about dark horses like you have to think about like who is the head coach and Matt rule was obviously very successful at Baylor before he was bad in the NFL and then obviously now now he's at Nebraska Wisconsin I find intriguing as well because Luke Luke uh fickles there who obviously won a lot of games at Cincinnati you know only group of five team to make the 14 playoff was coached by uh by by coach fickle what do you kind of think of Wisconsin this year as he continues to try to kind of turn that that program around yeah I still think it's gonna be a working up I mean we've seen how much they love to run at Wisconsin but you've seen Luke vickle who can recruit like no other at Cincinnati you mentioned he had nine Prospect to go into the NFL draft tied with Georgia for the most uh so it's going to be I think it's going to be some years to come till they're big Contender but I totally can picture it um because just the way he develops he can recruit against those big teams Michigan and Ohio State and bring him to Cincinnati develop them so I think we're GNA see big things from Wisconsin down the road but we we've seen him get some big wide receiver recruits and I think we could we could see this offense transform a bit under Luke fickle joined by Stephanie OD you're your lady for all things Buckeyes and just the the Big 10 in general when it comes to to football two two more questions for you Stephanie and I I'll let you go so I'm sure you get this question all the time whenever you go on radio stations but I I have to ask if Ryan Day loses to Michigan this year what what what happens ah you know I talked to him about this and I and I I said I think any job in all of college football I think Ohio State head coach has got to be the hardest and he took it in stride he fully Embraces this I mean when you go into that Michigan game it's not even winning that you're going for you just can't lose and every player on this team they don't have any gold pants they have not beaten Michigan and so for Ryan day I look at his track record he he is 56 and8 overall 39 and3 in conference play that is spectacular in terms of college football coaching but the fact is he's coaching at Ohio State and you cannot lose to Michigan where he's one and three and he's two and four in bowl games in the in Oregon he played Oregon under CJ strout he had top receivers at home and he took a loss so it is those big games that stick out to the fans of the bakas and this this could be a big one all we're hearing with this whole team is Natty or bus the number of veterans and experience we get you hear L kippen talking about how they bought all these players it really is a lot of pressure on Coach J something that he fully Embraces but it is real this year and if we if there is another loss to Michigan or to Oregon or if they're not you know making it to the at least the national championship I think it's more than that I think they have to win at all so do you think that there'd be less pressure on him even with the Michigan losses if he had previously won a title or or or is the Michigan record like that big of a deal that even if you know he if he had you know a national championship ring you know in his office that that like it wouldn't be a big deal if that makes sense I don't think I worded that very well no yeah I know I understand so I mean and that there's so many ways you can look at it like there's some players who they won a national championship Argie Griffin for example who's being honored uh at the game tomorrow he's the only player in all of college football history to have two hman trophies but he says he would trade one of those for a national championship and that he winning beating Michigan so it you kind of you when you layer it all up you know what awards mean the most Michigan is really up there these players don't know what it's like to beat their Rivals and it's St it's standing out I mean you have players young kids who don't really know how much this rivalry is because Ohio State dominated for so long but now it's a four-year drought for the Buckeyes and so it's something that they're not used to and so at Big 10 media days yeah it was Nat or bust but you hear Mecca Iuka Denzel Burke Michigan's on there I mean they want to beat that team and quite frankly Oregon's a a deeper threat this year not the reigning champions in Michigan but they want to beat Michigan that's their rival so the talk is the pressure to beat Michigan but realistically Oregon's the bigger threat they really are like Oregon you I I haven't made any any Futures bets yet but Oregon is definitely on the short list of teams I would consider to to put some money down on on them to win the title they're really good last year I want to hedge it do you really yeah I would I so I took a few this is where I gotta put my heart to the side but I mean you look at this team and you you go into practice and they are the real deal I mean you just see the way that they're coming together I mean we had they had I think they baptized 50 players um or 50 people earlier in the week and that was national news and just you hear Ryan day talk about things like that about how much this team is so invested in each other will Howard comes in and completely just Embraces the offense and takes command there King Sean junkins another big name you get so many transfers that just completely Embrace his Brotherhood so they really are playing for each other so it feels different but I can't help that get past these big games that Ryan Day hasn't won I mean there is questions for me around TJ Stout even playing in big games and then you see him just completely ball out in the NFL so I'm like so what is it what is it that we can't get past some of these big games and so yeah the question could be around coach day but what has he done to adjust that he hands over his offense to chip Kel and we hear how much he trusts him and so that I mean this could be a big year and I think a key factor in that is the amount of experience we have the amount of transfers that you know that you can say they bought those players but they're completely bought in and I think the X Factor is at Chip Kelly calling the offense last question for you Stephanie and I I'll let you go what is the biggest difference you've seen now that Chip Kelly has taken over the offense like like does the offense look different or is it still pretty much the same there are just some some slight tweaks like what's the difference from a Ryan Day coached offense to now a Chip Kelly coached offense yeah I mean so there's been questions around the offensive line that was a weaker point that we saw in the coton Bowl against Missouri so he's he's addressed that uh you get trevan Henderson healthy and then you get that one two punch MC kingan junan transfer from W Miss so you I think it's in the passing game I mean will Howard we've seen him play in the Big 12 but he did not have the receiving Corp that is at Ohio State and he and he's really good uh we see we saw chip Telly really love to run it down the or throw it down the middle and that's where some of the receiver options that he has here can Excel you we always hear about how much he loves to run the ball I think having a dual threat quarterback is a big part of that as well but we hear from Urban Meer even uh acknowledge it that you know it's not just about the run you want both sides playing into it and with the receiving core that Ohio state has that'll be a difference for will Howard and quite frankly I think he was the perfect quarterback for Chip Kelly's offense so we're going to be able to see both of those being utilized but I think addressing that that ailles heel in the offensive line is what can turn this offense around okay I hope you're right because the Big 10 I I find it fascinating this year Ohio State and Oregon they're going to be awesome Stephanie thanks for your time thank you so much it's been great thank you that is Stephanie Odie you can follow her on Twitter at Stef OD OT y she all things Buckey all things Big 10 she does a great job joining me in four minutes calling a little audible here Dan doit the guy who's usually on the air during this hour he's going to join me via phone we're going to talk about our bets from last night we did a we've got a new set every Thursday we're giving you the lock of the weekend and um we both missed our bets last night but that's okay that's okay Dan doic joins me here in about four minutes e e e e e e e back to the Dan docket show presented by Moon drops Distillery on Indie Sports ticket 1430 a.m. 995 H2 and always on the Indie Sports ticket app what's going on it's the Dan doet show filling in today for Dan but since it is the Dan doet show we had to have the man himself on Double D Dan what's going on uh oh Dan you there yeah I'm here I all of a sudden I lost you hey uh 50 wasn't enough Big Boy Hey 50 points Arkansas rolling last night over Pine Bluff I was keeping my eye on it and uh and never let off the gas or Pine Bluff was just that bad huh that's that's pretty much what happened so I had the game up last night because I I was tracking your bet which you also missed Colorado minus minus n and a half I had it split screen and this is why I think that the gambling is the best is because you know it just gives you something extra to watch and I was sitting there and I was like I watched the first two drives from Pine Bluff and I was like these guys suck I'm I'm in trouble here man you know it's funny when you bet enough on on college football you kind of can tell and then in our game what were we up like 11 I think and you could just tell and shout out to the Cashman because he said take cam Miller the quarterback to score I did he actually took him to score twice which he did so uh I did win that bit but you know you know Jonathan you just know it's coming like I'm watching they're driving I'm doing the M I'm like yeah a little bit of a prevent defense here the guy runs it in for a touchdown and no you know you just ah God game like but I hey what' you think of uh what' you think of Colorado I don't think they're very good still I'm I'm I'm doubling down on on my take from yesterday like North cot State's good I just watching just the line of scrimmage I like Colorado's defensive line but I just like they didn't get much of a push if they can't protect shur Sanders against North Dakota State who is clearly you know at least a good football team I just don't know how they do against the rest of the Big 12 which should be a step up in competition I thought Travis Hunter was really good like I thought he was good I thought Sanders was good and I I did think the defense got better I will give them like you know when you watch the team or if you're coaching you say okay we want our team to improve well how do you do that well you do it in practice but you can also do it in a game kind of what I'm looking for with IU I don't know whether IU or FL Florida International is any good but you hope by the end of the game you say all right well early the team didn't look good or whatever and then it got better so I thought I thought Colorado got better uh defensively but I I I don't know those two guys are good though Sanders's kid is good and that Travis Hunter man that dude is really good holy cow is he if you were him would you play receiver or Corner in in the NFL boy I you know what I would do I would uh do two things one I would listen to really smart people and see where my best shot at two things one making the most money and two getting into Hall of Fame uh would be and the second thing I would look at was where I would make the most money I I don't know does a wide receiver seems like to make about as much as anybody in the league if not more other than the quarterback so be hard to tell me hey look um you know don't play don't play wide receiver and I'm looking at guys making 30 35 and that's only going up I don't know what about you yeah that that's what I said once again joined by Dan doit on the QC kinetics hotline F 559 pain uh if you have any any joint issues yeah I'm I'm with you like and the the other thing is like when I watch just general TV I never see like s Garder in a commercial I see Devonte Adams and Justin Jefferson and there's like you know I think you're more likely to sign some deals if you play receiver as well and you know I I had a guy on earlier he said that the average gap between a receiver and a quarterback contract is like10 million that's tough to turn that down I did see s gner and I actually had to ask who it was he did a a BW3 commercial and I asked on Twitter okay who's that guy I'm supposed to know him you know I didn't know him uh but you're right wide receiver 10 million's a lot and frankly you know guess maybe it comes down to also do I want to hit people or do I want to get hit by people I don't know but uh I do can go hey let me ask you a question fever Sun tonight uh who you got uh I like the fever no doubt I mean it's a sky right it's it's Angel Reese that's what I say the sun yeah it's it's it's Barbie night in Chicago big boy it's it's an expensive Barbie night it's like 330 bucks for a ticket dude it's more than that I I just read they we did a thing on out kick yesterday where there's some going for as much as 2 2500 some the lowest we saw uh lower level was going for uh 890 um maybe it's less than now I don't know but it's not a big arena winers where they play maybe they're moving it to the United Center I don't know but I got the fever tonight I just saw ESPN put Angel ree as the number one rookie in the league that's absurd and uh it's know it is what it is but I'm looking forward actually I'm gonna figure out how to watch that game I do have I I just couldn't find it again yesterday there it is you found it let's go yeah that game's at 7:30 but the thing I'm I'm most excited for is I'm just excited for people to see caylin Clark and Angel ree on the same court together so they can realize that caylin Clark is clearly the better player yeah I mean I think Caitlin Clark has been so good that again I'm going to go with this she she is not going to win the most valuable player and I have not looked at the betting markets of late but last time I looked she was third I think that's Sabrina girl and then number one was Asia Wilson she she she gonna be the Rookie of the Year by anybody that has half a grain but she's also I think and maybe I'm wrong I don't know but I think she's going to be in the conversation if she isn't already uh for MVP now there's no chance zero zip none that the media the ogs the you know the angries of the WNBA are going to allow it but if you look at what she's done where her team's going and if they continue you know however many games they got left winning the vast majority I'm you can make the argument and I and I've said this before coach sides uh is the coach of the year I think she is the coach of the year I think it's a runaway and I think she's done a great job yeah I completely agree with that once again joined by the one and only Dan dockage on the QC kinetics hotline 559 paying if you have any joint issues yeah so I I pulled up my my FanDuel account and uh you can bet Clark she she has the third best odds for MVP at plus 7500 and she's such how much plus 7500 yeah that's that's where it was uh a few weeks ago last time I looked maybe it was early last week that's exactly where it was plus 7500 who's second uh oh we Lisa Collier plays for the links she just had a big game against angel or against uh uh Caitlin Clark so how about us football season here and we're talking about MVP odds for a fever player go you go fever there you go man let's go right yeah well you can't even bet Rookie of the Year anymore that's how big of a favorite Caitlyn Clark is is that amazing and and but you know you got these Publications that just you know because of one reason or another who knows what the actual reason is who knows maybe they're just trying to get shows to talk about and get some clicks like ESPN's trying to do and she not even the favorite according to them but you can't bet him on the BET always go with the damn betting markets seriously that's what you always do go with the betting markets they'll tell you because they figure it out better than anybody obviously they they really do it's it's pretty uh incredible so are you gonna have a chance to watch some some college any of the the college football tomorrow because there's several good games yeah I told my wife and the couple that we're going to Piner with and you know the guy is a good friend of mine he's saying the same thing look there's gonna be a phone in the cart with games on and he and I are gonna ride together he'll have one game on I'll have the other game on uh there absolutely no doubt uh we're gonna BET our faces off we're gonna bet all day North Carolina has DraftKings which I found out uh earlier today which is exceptionally good because can you imagine being you know first weekend college football and you're in a town that or you're in a state that doesn't have uh DraftKings or the ability to online sports but that would be tortured we would have to move our act somewhere else but no man yeah we're gonna watch everyone I'm looking forward to Indiana I want to see if you know if they just look different I've been watching Indiana since 73 I want to see if they look different yeah I'm really intrigued to have the I'm I'm intrigued to watch them they've got like a ton of new transfers that that that are going to be playing and I I just I I think that the goal is look if you're watching FIU in Indiana in the fourth quarter it's probably going to be a bad year right right right right yeah yeah I mean you're hoping that okay they the only reason you're watching is you don't want a back door cover with 22 is the line I think and you don't want you know you're up 30 and God forbid they score get go for two and next thing you know that'd be the only reason the other game I I want to watch is is Georgia and Clemson everybody you know you and I talked about it yesterday we played a bunch of audio from people getting all over dbos Sweeney but you know like always all you got to do is win this game which is a lot easier said than done obviously but you know you win that game and all of a sudden people are hot on Clemson and they're questioning what Georg is all about because all the off field stupidity that George's been through over the last couple years you know I I'm anxious to see that I always love you know whether it's Florida Florida State or Florida State Miami or Florida Miami I think those games are always tough man guys know each other I always think those are a little bit personal uh so yeah man you know who's Purdue open with Indiana State yeah I I think they played last night I was looking for that score earlier oh um yeah that's that tells you how irrelevant they are when it comes to football wait a second you're telling me Purdue played last night I I thought I saw them on my uh my my TV screening maybe I was wrong I'm not seeing it here if you went through the guide the Big 10 one of those big 10 channels on YouTube TV had for the last three days Purdue Indi indana state next that's yep that's what I saw then they because they play tomorrow at noon against Indiana State yep yeah and and uh Bill mallerie's son I can't remember his name he's the coach I remember him when he was just a little kid and uh now he's done a pretty good job at Indiana State but you know the lineup Purdue is interesting a lot of people with Purdue think they're gonna be pretty good think Harrison card is pretty good quarterback or Hudson card and that line is only four and four and a half we Plus money not not the line excuse me the uh over under for wins is only four and a half with plus money that's I don't know that's a little sexy to me I might take that just for the hell of it just to have something to do and reason to watch Purdue their schedule's just brutal though that's kind of the issue with the four and a half like Ohio State Benn State Oregon Notre Dame like that's four losses right there right yeah there's nothing good there you no and by the way if you are headed east on I70 and you get into the great state of Ohio we are currently stopped totally completely stopped so there you go that's uh Go a different direction I would a little pissed that my uh my maps or ways didn't take us somewhere else but what are you gonna do get on the left shoulder and go by everybody oh that's a great move but in the younger day my brother the great Tom dockin and I would do that almost like it's our job but nowadays I have a wife that would first off she's driving second she's the biggest rule follower in the world she is like if there's a rule I'm following it because that rule was made for a reason which I respect most times not all the time except for the speed limit though right you made it sound like she's a bit of a speed demon no she'll go no no she'll go she asked me today she goes it's 70 how fast what do you think I I said 90 she said now 78 and you know that's in that gray area but serious business I mean there's like a million trucks here on 70 uh we are going 10 so we've sped up a little bit uh so try to avoid if you can okay fair enough once again joined by the one and only Dan dockage this is his show he's just on vacation which is which is pretty great he's joining the the QC kinetics hotline which is why he's able to play golf right yeah man QC connetics you said it 31 7 559 pain that's 317 559 pain um hey before before you let me go uh give me a give me a prediction tonight if I were gonna say to you all right I got three games I got would this pay off moneyline fever moneyline IU moneyline Purdue and then moneyline Notre Dame against Texas A&M you want to Parlay that yeah would you take all four of those in a parl I I think that Texas A&M is going to beat Notre Dame so no I wouldn't would you take all the three and and put Texas A&M in yes be interesting I don't even know if you can get a line on the Purdue game a lot of times you can't when it's not a you know all right man appreciate you appreciate all you're doing thanks for having me on uh I'm gonna go yell at somebody tell him get the hell out of the left Lan sounds good thanks Dan all right see you brother bye bye that's Dan doit usually on the air right now but he's clearly out on vacation love Dan uh yeah we both we both missed our bets last night starting off the year on one that's okay we'll bounce back next week giving out those locks of the days on Thursdays and we come back here in about four minutes I've got a Colts take and I've got a little unwatchable watchable and must watch games for the weekend you don't want to miss it that's all coming your way here in four minutes e e e e e e e back to the Dan docket show presented by Moon drops Distillery on Indies Sports ticket 1430 a.m. 995 HD2 and always on the Indie Sports ticket app what's going on it's the Dan dockage show usually Dan dockage is the one hosting it but it's the producer Jonathan Smith fil in today just carrying over the momentum we had from the real Jonathan Smith show it started at 10 o'clock last segment I'm out of here we're gonna throw it to Jim Rome so I have to talk about the Colts I have to so leading up to the NFL and CT Seasons I'm doing this thing calling it final five takes so the final five shows which you know today is five until the start of the Colt season I'm going to give you a take or a prediction on something that I think is going to happen doing the same thing with the NFL so as a whole so for the Colts give me Anthony Richardson to have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of three to one give it to me write it down put it in pin it's going to happen now look if he only plays one game and he has three touchdowns and one pick then hey man that's that's three to one and I'm right but seriously I I I do think that he's going to be a bit healthier this year that's the hope at least and I really do believe that he's going to be three to one from touchdowns to to turnovers I don't know what that's going to look like like I don't know what the split's going to be but I'm assuming he's going to score around 13 rushing touchdowns and he's going to score around 25 passing touchdowns so that is a total of 38 touchdowns I think he's going to hover around and kind of be in that area and look the The Rush stuff shouldn't have to be explained but I'm going to do it anyway he ran the ball effectively in the Red Zone last year like we didn't get to see much of Anthony Richardson we only got him in these short glimpses okay in the 12 quarters that he played last year he had four rushing touchdowns so in essence he he basically played four games and he had a rushing touchdown in all four like the dude can run the football okay like this is where the overemphasis of his ability of his you know size and speed like like this is where this comes into play this is where we see it when he's running quarterback power behind Hall of Fame offensive guard Quinton Nelson okay like that's where we see these incredible physical traits that he has and we're going to see that a lot during this NFL season because Shane styken has made it abundantly clear that he's going to run Anthony Richardson like that's what he's going to do and I believe that when they're in the Red Zone man they're just going to churn touchdowns out because of this r r rushing ability that Anthony Richardson has I think we're going to see a lot of success from him on the ground and I can't wait cannot wait to see how it turns out because I do think that the Colts are GNA have one of the better Red Zone offenses in the NFL because of the problems that Anthony Richardson presents in terms of not only his ability to run but also his ability to throw I can't wait to see you know like a play action quarterback power and then he he throws like a little float pass or whoever to or whatever to you know any one of the receivers like the Colts have a real advantage in the Red Zone because of Anthony Bron's ability to run and when it comes to him throwing the football because I I think that people would agree that there's no really concern outside of obviously the injury stuff when it comes to Anthony Richardson running the ball I think everyone knows that Anthony Richardson is talented when it comes to his ability to run the football most of the questions around whether or not he's going to be able to last in the NFL come around his ability to throw the football accurately and this is where Shane Steen comes into play and this is where the speed of the Colts receivers comes into play the Colts are better on the perimeter this year I don't think that anyone can really deny that okay they've got you know Michael Pitman J's back 100 reception guy last year over a thousand receiving yards like that is a great season and then from there you bring in ad Mitchell who's got legit 43 speed like a guy who can you know catch a wide receiver screen and just be gone you got a guy in Josh D who had a good rookie year last year I'm willing to bet that he's gotten better even if he hasn't he was still a good player last year Anthony Gould another guy who can absolutely fly with 43 speed like there's a lot of talent and speed on the perimeter of this Colt offense that Shane Sten gets to kind of toy with and hopefully leverage to the advantage of Anthony Richardson that leads to a bunch of touchdown passes and I think we're going to see it I think we're going to see some cheap touchdowns this year from these Colts receivers where you know Anthony Richardson throws a slant ad Mitchell catches it because he runs a 4-3 you blink and he's in the end zone I I I think we're going to see a fairly decent amount of that and I'm excited for what Shane styken is bringing to the table I trust Shane styken to create a powerful offense with Anthony Richardson as the quarterback the Colts were 11th in scoring last year they averaged the 11th most amount of points per game last year with Gardner freaking menu as their quarterback okay Gardner muu was the quarterback Jonathan Taylor didn't play very much he had a career low in touches last year because of the contract hold out and then the thumb the thumb injury that still doesn't make a ton of sense to me because he hurt the thumb and then he finished the game and then he didn't play again it was really weird but you know that's not gonna that hopefully doesn't happen this year there definitely won't be a contract dispute on Jonathan Taylor's part and so like like there's I think a lot of I think the co just gotten better on offense like the offensive Line's supposed to be awesome ad Mitchell Josh DS they bring a little bit more explosiveness so does Anthony Gould Alec Pierce apparently had the best training camp of his career so the offense that's going to surround Anthony Richardson is better and look man I got all the faith in the world in Shane Sten that's no secret okay he helped Justin Herbert give your have the best rookie season we've ever seen a quarterback have he helped Jaylen Herz kind of take the next step got Jaylen Herz paid telling you man the Colts in this offense with Anthony richon at the hell are going to be better this year in part because Anthony richardon is there but also because Shane Sten is there and I know that he's going to put Anthony Richardson in positions to succeed and I know that he's going to do a good job of making things easy on Anthony Richardson okay I know that you know people are pushing back on the whole Anthony Richardson thing it's fine I got someone here in my YouTube chat like Garner muu was a pro bowler last year yeah he was like the seventh alternates because other guys didn't want to play in it gez come on now have some common sense Gardner MCH is not that good he's going to end up in Las Vegas the Raiders are going to win like three games this year and they're going to draft a quarterback that's what's going to happen because the gner mitsu isn't very good simple as that okay and so I think that the highs with Anthony Richardson are going to be high I think that the Colts are going to score a lot of points but with that being said Anthony Richardson is going to make mistakes he's going to okay I think he's gonna throw somewhere around 10 interceptions fumble the ball probably around three times that's kind of my assumption that puts him at 38 total touchdowns to around 133 turnovers that's not quite 3 to one but hey we we'll call it 3 to one we just have to hope that those mistakes whether it's a fumble or or an interception like they just can't come at bad times like if he's throwing an interception and you know on on his own 30 that's that's an issue if he's throwing an interception when there's you know two minutes left and the Colts are trying to put together an awesome drive to win the game then that's obviously not ideal if the Colts are winning they're trying to run out the clock and he fumbles the football away not ideal like like that I think is really what's going to make and break this Colt season because I do think they're they're going to find success on offense the question is when do those Anthony richson mistakes that we know we're going to see because he's the youngest starting quarterback in the NFL now that Drake May is not gonna start New England when do those mistakes happen that is going to have a that's going to dictate how this Colt season goes and whether or not they're a 10 and seven team that that that makes the wild card or or their uh seven and 10 team that is you know picking pretty high again so we'll see how that goes I'm excited to see what Anthony Richardson brings he's going to be good okay he's going to produce points but there are undoubtedly going to be some mistakes made along the way what in the world John M what are you talking about you never answered the question will your fantasy football quarterback make the Pro Bowl as a all alternate I don't know I don't really care about the Pro Bowl the the Pro Bowl is the most overrated thing ever because no one wants to play in it it's not real football okay and Tyler Huntley made the Pro Bowl last year like who cares about the Pro Bowl be be all pro okay like the the Pro Bowl is equivalent to being voted into the All-Star Game in the NBA the fans vote on it okay it's legitimately a popularity contest if you want to impress me be all pro Gardner muu wasn't all pro last year he didn't even sniff it okay so no I'm not anyway moving on 7:30 tonight the Indiana Fever gets set to take on Angel Ree and the Chicago Sky look it's gonna be it's going to be Cinema there's going to be you know a lot of drama people are going to be invested Twitter's going to be a wonderful wonderful battlefield for the angel Reese lovers and the and the Caitlyn Clark lovers going at it it's going to be fun I'm going to be on Twitter try trying to stir up the pot it's going to be a blast and I cannot wait cannot wait to see Caitlin Clark and Angel ree share the floor together because you know I talked about this with Dan in in the last segment like she's just clearly so much better than Angel ree like she's going to clearly be the best basketball player on the floor tonight because let's be honest Chicago Sky AR very good they're holding on to the eighth seed okay they they may not even make the playoffs as of right now big game for the fever tonight because one if something miraculous happens and the sky and the fever end up tied with the same record obviously the fever want to have the tiebreaker okay like like that's you know what we want to see obviously happen even though I don't think that the sky are gonna all randomly surge late I I don't think that that's much of an issue but in case it is we want for the Indiana Fever to obviously have the three to one head-to-head tiebreaker but more importantly the Indiana Fever are only half a game out of the six seed which you obviously you want to be as high of a seed as possible so big game tonight for the Indiana Fever taking on the sky even Beyond just what this is going to turn into you know Caitlyn Clark versus Angel ree I'm excited for it I'm tuned into it 7:30 tonight on ION cannot wait to watch that game tonight and then we get to follow it up with some awesome college football over the weekend I'm going to do the segment every Friday to close my show unwatchable watchable and must watch games coming up this weekend in the world of football in the world of obviously no NFLs up this week NFL gam start on Thursday must watch games this Saturday for college football gotta watch Georgia and Clemson I am bullish on Clemson this year they're bringing a lot of guys back bringing back the quarterback George is going to be awesome that game should be wildly entertaining 19th ranked Miami takes on Florida all those games are fun anytime you get two Florida teams matched up I think Miami has a real shot I I pick them to win the ACC Mario chryst ball that guy can coach so Miami Florida that game should be interesting my boss keeps telling me that Florida's gonna be good this year I'll believe it when I see it but obviously the night cap tomorrow night Notre Dame Texas A&M gotta tune into that KY look Kyle Field at night is always electric Texas A&M fans are crazy that game is going to be an absolute blast to tune into Sunday Night Football USC LSU that game's going to be fun can't wait to watch that watchable games Penn State West Virginia it's where college game day is going to be excited to see how Drew Aller and that Pinn State offense looks West Virginia we'll see I'm I'm really more interested in that game because of Drew Aller and that Penn State offense really just that Penn State team in general because they're probably gonna make the playoff and then South Dakota State plays Oklahoma State tomorrow interested in that one too because South Dakota State's like like you know Kevin Potts was on my show earlier today at 11 o'clock he was he was great you can listen to that interview at whenever the podcast drops just go to Spotify apple look search for the real Jonathan Smith podcast and it'll it'll pop up there for you um but he was talking about South South Dakota State like they are kind of the new FCS Powerhouse South Dakota State they can really play so watch them then take on Oklahoma State like that's going to be fun and interesting I I I really cannot wait to watch that game obviously IU FIU tomorrow got to watch that one see what this new Kurt Signet regime in I at IU looks like I'm fascinated this you know feels like really the first time in my life that there's actually like some positive momentum around IU football I know that's not entirely true I know they were good when Michael pinnick was here and all those things but for the first time in a while like there's real positive momentum around Indiana football and that's exciting for me because I I love college football can't wait to watch that or do Indiana state that game is tomorrow at noon I went to that game last year and um not going to it again this year it just it wasn't very fun Purdue just scored a whole bunch of of touchdowns and uh yeah it's it wasn't very fun so Purdue should roll there which they'll need it man if if Purdue wants to make a bowl they better win every cupcake game that they have oh man can't wait oh it's going to be good so yeah once again Big Five takes that I'm you know work as we work our way towards the start of the NFL season my first big final five Colts take Anthony Richardson gonna have a total touchdown to turnover ratio of three to one I've got to give you two final five NFL takes because obviously their season starts Thursday I thought I had a show on Monday but I don't Stefon Diggs to the Texans is overrated and the Texans are going to finish with a losing record and the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to win the AFC South I got more takes coming for you on Tuesday from 10: to noon cannot wait cannot wait for that show it's going to be an absolute blast have a good weekend have a safe weekend have a good Labor Day the Jim bro show it's coming your way here in about five minutes
