conversation yeah I'm excited too and if anyone listens to my podcast they always say that they like listening to me because my accent I don't have one but you may hear that Allison sounds a little bit like me yeah I don't have an accent either I don't know what they're talking about right yeah I can hear it in you and you can probably hear it in me and it's actually quite nice because I know I'm not going to have to pronounce my words like I have to do on a daily basis yeah exactly I can hear you totally fine love that so I'd love us to get right in and first of all actually first of all can you just share with us a little bit about I know it's always such a hard question when we open a podcast uh what do you do just in your own words yeah look I'm I'm a business coach business coach business strategist I help small business owners flourish and prosper in their business so their business works for them rather than you know there are so many strategies that someone can Implement to have a successful business but often often as a business owner we're very very good at what we do right excellent at what we do there's not very many people that I meet that aren't excellent at what they do well certainly none of my clients anyway they're excellent at what they do just don't necessarily have all the business acum inside in order to be able to then make the business boom in a way where they're not tit or married to their business or they don't get into the massive stages of chaos overwhelm burnout you know all of that because business is quite scientific business is very strategic and scientific but we can definit when we don't necessarily know all the moving parts or deny ourselves of certain parts like I was having a conversation with someone today one of my clients and I'm like well you don't actually see yourself as a salesperson and you are like sales is a service so then If you deny yourself as a salesperson and you haven't learned any of the skills it's not that you know like you don't know how to do it because you've never learned the skills and it's just a skill set to learn there there's just skill sets and when you can upscale into those skill sets your business can become so much easier and but it's knowing what to do next so I love supporting uh you know people particularly service based businesses because that's my background to actually grow businesses that work for them and for their life cuz like I think a lot of people when they hear business coach is like as a business own they're like oh I'm not going to pay that money or why would I need that I'll just keep finding my own way but it's so interesting when you talk to anyone that is very successful and has that balance they've had mentors they've had coaches they've had support and I know myself as a business owner you know I'm still Green in this um we're not very good at asking for help 100% And that's often right like we we suffer in secret yeah most of my clients have been suffering in secret they don't want to tell anyone that they're not coping or they don't know what to do but and so they put on this you know outward yeah everything's great but on the inside like really struggling or just don't know what to do next floundering around that's where mentals and coaches are so good and yeah a lot of people I don't know I don't need that I don't want to spin that I don't want I don't want to I don't want to why make it so hard success is not something that's done on your own success is is built in teams right you you strategically place people around you to see all the blind spots that you can't because you can't possibly see everything if you're are that like if you're really focused on a goal you you have and to achieve that goal you have to have quite a lot of tunnel vision right like you you actually have to you have to be able to block out the distractions which is fabulous you actually need to do that the problem with blocking out all of the distractions is you aren't actually necessarily going to see everything that you need to see in order to get to that goal so having that that outside perspective someone watching over your shoulder and making sure you don't run into a brick wall is really important because you weren't you aren't always going to see everything having someone help you pull your yourself out of that for a moment look at it from different perspectives then go back in okay great back on track these are the next steps speeds up a strategy it speeds up your business process it saves you're making a whole bunch of mistakes as well but it also means you don't have to do it by yourself like why doesn't I achieve this all by myself without any sleep and I'm tired and I'm exhausted is not a bed you have to wear can everyone hear that what she's just said there including myself in in a minute but it like we wear this badge oh my God I did it all on my own it was so hard like and I sacrificed everything yes there are all of those things that you need to do right you have to S make sacrifices and it is hard to build a business but you don't have to like it's not a it's not a badge of we don't have to earn rest we don't have to work what if we rested to earn the go what if we rested to get to the goal faster rather than think oh I've got to do it all so hard in order to get rest what if we just allowed ourselves to ask for help the most sane thing in the world is to ask for help that's very true because I think you know southcare obviously my business is called selfcare Studio but as a therapist too and as a business owner I think how we care for ourselves mentally emotionally physically and it's like almost the way when I talk to my clients at moms the the more you put into yourself the better mother you're going to be and more of a it's but then also it's the role model people don't understand that if I care for myself the little child's going to be looking at them going oh okay that's how I prioritize myself that's how I care for myself so it has a knock on effect so imagine in business so I'm still fairly new but it's interesting it's never what and I'm sure you hear this all the time I come from a family of business owners I've seen my dad run a business you know I'm very comfortable in the space but the switch over is when I was working for myself 100% it's like this little voice in my head that's like um holy [ __ ] this is full on like it goes from zero to 100 that uh it doesn't switch off I'm always thinking about it I love what I do it's my it is literally U my purpose um so I'm so grateful but I I can and I know I'm sure there's other business owners listening to this or people that want to start this isn't to scare you I just want to normalize that there's this feeling of [ __ ] it's all me or nothing 100% And it is all you or nothing and and that will scare some people but hopefully it'll also make you think it realize what you're jumping into business is not like a lot of people start businesses to get away from something Freedom well the the driving reason might be their ultimate reason when they stop trying to get away from something is they want freedom but they might be trying to move away from a boss they didn't like or a negative situation right or but when you know I don't I want to get out of my job so I'm going to go and start a business because I don't want to work for someone else I want to work for myself and yes 100% you want more freedom now in a business you get all the freedom in the world right that's a also a curse though right it's a child it's a double-edged sword because then now you can work as much as you like and laughing so much right most business owners do they work a lot to achieve the success but that but now you Cho you're choosing that that's the freedom right like you're choosing that and if you can scale your business to be successful and actually make it a a actual business and make it extremely successful that it pays you super well well now you have real Freedom CU now you can scale that thing right and and that's and now you can make your money work for you but it often if we if we're just trying to move away from something like I don't want to work for a boss anymore then we don't always make that transition to be an actual business owner we still stay in that employee mindset of of trying to move away from something and not taking all the responsibilities and and then often when we grow a team and put staff on we then manag the staff how we didn't want to be managed but as an employee most employees want to know what to do give me the game I need to play give me the boundaries tell me what on Earth I'm supposed to be doing so you know we have to evolve and we need to grow our skill sets in order to be able to maintain our s sanity whil we're growing our business yeah for sure for sure what's one tip that you could give anyone listening that's actually currently in a business uh along the lines of you know the more you take care of yourself the more you're going to have a sustainable like long-term success like what's one thing that you could share with someone listening to this right now so difficult to just pick one thing that's mean right I didn't want to give I would say look let's start with one main thing um get it it falls into what I would say the Bas of Life get enough sleep drink enough water eat good food because if the machine you live in isn't operating well how are you going to help anyone else and run your business well move and move your body right because when you are sleep deprived you're not eating enough um or you're running off adrenaline and you know your fourth cup of coffee for the day and have still an e in yet the monkey ch in your mind you know the wolf it will start eating you alive because when you haven't looked after just those basic things it's so hard to to hold off the monkey chatter because the basics aren't in like but when you're wellfed and you have enough rest and you drink enough it is somewhat easier to reason with your Mony monkey mind and tell it to shush right so so you can maintain some semblance of control because that doubt the impostor syndrome we call it so many different things it will kick in every time you stretch to a new goal guess what fear is going to kick in imposter syndrome is going to kick in you'll have you'll feel some level of overwhelm like that's a normal reaction to stretching yeah doesn't matter what you do it's though then how long do you choose to stay in it and indulge in those emotions and those feelings now I think just look after yourself you know I hear I'm so exhausted yes you are what are you going to do about that I get that I get you're exhausted so let's put some boundaries in somewhere so that we can you can have a schedule that actually works for you that doesn't mean you you know like some people want to work a whole bucket load great knock yourself about whatever success is to you whatever you want to Define that is it's not a problem often we I think too bar we're fighting to have this semblance of success that someone else's like not a lot of people stop and Define what does success mean to you what does it mean to me I think that's another thing for a business owner know what you actually want one of the hardest things questions for people ask is what's your actual goal what do you want and they're like like no like what do you want and they like um I don't really know like and particularly woman particularly woman find that incredibly difficult question to answer so then what are you building towards if you don't know what you want you are just running a race yeah somewhere right and to get off the running the race somewhere then need to know what you actually want and if that is some of what you want that's okay too but but own it but if you don't know how if you don't have an answer to that question what do I want which a lot of people and particularly women I find don't know how to answer that question keep asking stay in the question and it might start off particularly if you're not used to answering that question or you haven't for a long time it might start off in the most simplistic way I want a nap good have one I want a cup of coffee great have one of those I want to uh go outside today good I want diamond shoes good I want a car I want a this like it evolves right it's just like a muscle you just have not used it much for a long long time so it might start off small and in my book I talk about breadcrumbs often we set a goal and then we have these little inklings of ideas is that just popping right left a field usually at the most unoe times and they seem crazy like they seem unrelated not it's like what but follow the breadcrumbs because those little ideas you've asked for the goal the universe or God or whatever you want to call it has delivered delivered the the answer follow the answer right even though a lot of you will come up with reasons not to and deny it and go e that seems stupid how's that related just do it anyway because that is you actually finding the answer to lead you towards the actual goal I've gone on a tangent but hopefully that's helpful no and because it's all connected again to anyone listen to my podcast it's all about mindset and it's all about um it's interes because what I was hearing when you're talking about the breadcrumbs was I relate that to what I do with intuition as well like there's that voice inside you or that knowing that so many of us will ignore or or will hear it and be like oh what do I know like that's stupid and so we discount it straight away but and again that people pleasing mentality oh what will other people think of me or oh no I've got to do this CU it's expected of me and again especially with social media now people are looking at people people to like oh that success I loved how you said that like that success or or they've got this or they've got a jet or or they've got this handbag or they're going on this trip but we don't know what that person is doing to achieve that we don't know if the uncle gave them tickets to the private jet we don't know um and that's what I mean I think if you worry more about yourself what you want where you want to go because what I can bring to this conversation people are in front of me so if they're single I'll say to them great what would you like in a partner tell me some qualities and they go um I don't know so it's like well how do you know what you want if you don't know what you want and it's the same with career goals it's the same so very similar in life it's all again like how we do one thing is how we do everything so it's you've given us some really great helpful tips I'd love to ask you with the mindset you work with a lot of successful people and I think people from do work with obviously really large big successful business owners but also like startups like do you have yeah yep absolutely across the board from startups through to multi-million dollar businesses well is there an example that you can think of that you could share how important mindset is and from a client they've had that's you've seen them that mindset grow and it's kind of reflected in their business yeah absolutely so um one of my clients successful business owner two businesses um multi-million dollar businesses that she that she owns and um you know when we started working together I would say she and she would own this she was a hot mess right very successful but no time stressed out you know like and just lots of ideas though like a machine with ideas yeah that's like superpower I think yeah and um so we really just worked on around her mindset of her belief in herself and Clarity of what she was actually building for um and then worked with her team so some some simple basic things and you know able to add another 10% on their revenue now for that business is huge yeah right and then you know other businesses that are startup um more startup phase you know I've got another client and she's had her biggest months ever just by again taking out the perfectionism for her moving her into rather than her trying to over complicate her Services we stri them back to be really simple very good always they were very good but but because she was trying to function on this perfectionism thing she was making her product and services over over complicated for the client right which her ideal client when we identified that they they're too busy for that so we changed the the model of delivery a little bit and simplified it one she's in much more control doesn't take her anywhere near as much time and she's getting better results she's also now then gone on to have her best results in her business as well without it being as much work because before she was like oh my God you know takes me five hours of preparation for a client and wow Etc right this is this whole perfectionism thing like well you know what you're doing so the shift to believe in yourself and drop for perfectionism be okay in the messiness of things because her level of delivery is so high anyway yeah and that's such a beautiful example because I know a lot of people can relate to uh a lot of people I hear just fling oh I'm OCD I'm perfectionist and that stops a lot of people from even starting a business I think a lot of people I've had numerous friends and family over the years go I couldn't do what you do Barbara how do you do oh I've always wanted to start a podcast do you how many times I've heard people say to me oh I'd love to start a podcast but I'm like do it oh no oh no I'll do it one day or I've got got the idea or I need to have everything in a row and I just say no no no just start it absolutely but I think interestingly enough I think perfectionism these days is like the socially acceptable way to progras inate okay okay yeah because it's the same it ends up in the same result right you don't get it done to the degree you don't you don't get a completion so perfectionism though isn't it like I I see where it's coming from but in in an ideal word if you're perfe if you're a perfectionist ideally you'd do it to get it done because you were a perfectionist I don't know if that makes sense yeah absolutely right like you would but you don't yeah so then both of those two character things don't get the job finished we they just call us because we're perfectionists perfectionist or um procrastinating same in result don't finish it right so you know when we look for rather than labeling ourselves like we're so often are caught up in the labels but that keeps you stuck so if you shake off that stop labeling things right you are you great you have energy good use it some way right you direct it how you want to direct it before you go labeling it it's this it's that because then you're boxed in and then it's it is that and you can't change it whereas you know and also if we focus on completing Cycles how many cycles can I complete today how many things can I finish today not perfectionism or procrastination like let's just Ed it all that out go okay how many things can I complete today because completions make you feel good completions also give you space back in your life because you're not having to carry it all around in your head trying to remember that you haven't finished it and you got more work and then you got more work and you got less space so and if you don't complete it and like let's say you work in a team like from a business perspective if you're on your own and you haven't completed it document what you're up to if you've got a team we talk in the team and make sure that that task gets handed to the next person with all the information of where it's up to it works in a family too there's no different in a family oh can you make dinner yeah now when most people ask like if I ask can you make dinner I mean like right now but I haven't asked that yeah right so so well I can't get annoyed I do sometimes I can't get annoyed though if I don't ask clearly enough with parameters and time frames and all of that sort of thing so that's the same with ourselves it's the same in business Clarity of communication with your yourself first yeah I think that helps with when we talking about the proc the procrastination or um everything you've just shared overwhelm comes part of that too doesn't it so people so fear holds people back I think that's a really big thing in business but I I think also just the fair sh fair thing of being so overwhelmed no matter how big your business is I think that um what would you recommend for anyone that does feel overwhelmed overwhelmed and overwhelm is really quite normal in business I must say is pick a task and finish it doesn't matter which one yeah fastest quickest win you can find pick pick a thing off the list of a million things you've got to do and get that cycle finished as fast as you can yeah interesting it stabilizes things yeah I think when a lot of people get overwhelmed they get into shutdown mode and it's like if anyone can relate when they get out of the shower and they got their towel around them and they sit on the end of their bed and stare at the wall I mean I've been guilty of that sometimes and then I just go oh yeah what am I doing like it's kind of like I feel like when PE business owners get overwhelmed especially with the the minuscule tasks or the really operational parts of the business I think people can just sit if anyone can relate please comment and let me know you're sitting at your computer or your desktop and you just probably 10 minutes will go by and you go oh yep what am I doing yeah you can St the steer into space because you just you've kind of gone into uh which which one what do I do how do I do it what am I doing again yeah that's Co that's where coaching is great and mentoring is great because you can have that convers okay this is next let's do this okay do this next um or just pick a thing like rather than get coing up and picking the perfect thing just pick a thing on the list that's going to be the easiest to complete because once you start it's a bit like if you do one pushup you end up doing more because you kind of just can't stop at one thing but the first one is the hardest one yeah and it's the same to get our V around that like getting out like to get out of the whirling of things you have to stabilize one of them and it you just look at one of them pick one of them finish one of them and ideally whatever the first one is that comes to your mind or the easiest or sometimes depending on the individual if you are well disciplined in it and you can get control fast enough you might pick the most difficult thing first eat the Frog but it depends on you as a person and how um a climatized to overwhelm you are like if you're not well ACC climatized to overwhelm then I would say just pick one thing off the list anything and generally the easiest get a quick one to make yourself feel better yeah I'm curious to know in your scope of work and I know that with your business the t is it if I pronounce that right the tenx TX business coach yeah that's what under Grant isn't it yeah Grant C yep you want to just talk a little bit about that because I'm G to ask you the next question about something to do with that but um how did you get into that yeah look so during covid I was was going through a massive iteration of my last business um a lot of well a lot of what we could do we couldn't do we couldn't run events all sorts of things so it's like okay now what am I going to do um so I was listening to a lot of gr through that time um and my husband would say to me he's like you've been listening to Grant haven't you I'm like yeah and he's like you're just different when you are listening because it just has like his it wasn't really what he said it's the intentionality behind what he was saying you know like the vibrational level so um I'm like okay and then when I sort of got to the point where I'm like all right well I need to really change from what I was doing um I circled back to 10x I'm like okay let me relook at this let me really look at it properly um and it just made sense to me it made sense to align with a brand that I believe from an ethical level is very high that that has all the sales and marketing and and to get certified as a tenx coach you do like 170 hours of study to it's not no me feet no um yeah yeah right like you don't just get a piece of paper um so for me I thought well it's going to take me way longer to develop all that stuff I don't I don't need to reinv the wheel with everything so I like that it align with my belief system anyway um and so it just made sense I like that when when you said oh the belief system um let me that's my next question so the reason why I asked you about the 10x thing is because in your scope of work I imagine you've worked with all sorts of characters all sorts of people that have money that don't have money would like to have money uh all sorts I'm trying to keep this eye um but in your opinion as a business coach do you think a business owner is for everyone or do you do you see some really strong St um traits when people have a first session with you start working with you you look at them and you go yep you're a great business owner you've got what it takes or you are going to be great or n mate go get another job I don't think business is for everyone okay no 100% not it takes some serious wherewith all right it is not for it doesn't mean that everyone couldn't do it possibly could but it's not for everyone because it's hard but I don't also think there's this my other side a job is not the devil nothing wrong with having a job either you can be an what is called an entrepreneur so an entrepreneur within an organization having a job there are people making millions of dollars who have jobs it's not the devil it's just a choice of what like know yourself for me having the working under the bounds of someone else it's just not really me because I I I like to be able to iterate and create and evolve and grow and grow and grow and grow so for me from my job perspective I outgrow them too quickly yeah right so it's like if I have my own business I I have control of over the level of growth that I want and growth is one of my most important values so you know what your values are right and you know you or you're getting to know you um then I think you can make that choice but sometimes also you know you have to be as a business owner you have to be willing to fail because you're going to fail a lot right you fail forward yeah yeah more times than I think that's a really common thing is yeah you fail more times than but you the failings help you move towards your success 100% that's where you learn things right like I think you know we were speaking before we got on the podcast um like I'm an athlete I've been an athlete my whole life and I think one of the advantages of that is you lose you learn to lose and you learn to lose a lot right you learn to do hard things a lot that are very uncomfortable but you learn to lose and I think as a business owner you need to know how to lose and bounce back from that because if we get fixated on a loss then you know our self-esteem goes down our confidence goes down like all like it's dwindling spiral downwards so when someone learns how to lose well you don't dwell in it for so long like I remember in my last business trying to think which one yeah my last business I sucked when I started like I really did do sales call someone to be mean I'd cry and that was my like you know and I'd quit I never quit my husband like didn't you just quit and I said yep I quit and I'm like back doing it you know five minutes later he said but you just quit and I said yeah but I quit on myself in my shitty thinking I fired myself and now I've reemployed myself as the new version of me cuz that version of me sucked and it wasn't going to get me the result so I'm like had to quit I had to quit that version but I can choose to be the new version 5 minutes later because who I was 5 minutes ago isn't who I am now so yes I did quit but he didn't quit on the goal right and I think that the other biggest lesson I've learned through business and through coaching with a lot of people is tether yourself to the goal do not do not put your self-identity into the business itself put your self identity into the go and the mission and the why because if you need to change the vehicle and you're all tied up in the vehicle it will be very Soul destroying when you have to walk away from it but if you're focused on the goal and the mission and the why and that's part of who you are you can then move your business and iterate your business along the way and shape it however it needs to be and you might have to change the vehicle five times 10 times who knows right until you work it out and you get there and you find the thing that works for you and your goals and your mission and your why and helping the people that you want to and delivering to the people that you want to and actually making a difference that's a huge take-home piece there because a lot of people I mean it's an like for me I know any business I would do would naturally always be an extension of me because that's who I am it's naturally for some people but I think also it can be learned so but it depends on where you put your identity and obviously when you build a business it's so much about yourself like so much of you as you pour into it but you've always but your identity keep it focused on keep it tethered to the goal because it allows you enough flexibility to change and iterate and and and evolve the the actual business itself and if the you suddenly discover like for example with in the pandemic like a lot of people didn't couldn't pivot their businesses fast enough um and even now right like we are going through a very large economic transition whether people are awake to that or not let's see but we are whether people want to realize it or not now again you know what I see out there is a lot of business owners aren't moving fast enough and not going to be aggressive enough to stay to to survive through it like people will have to go back to their old school methods they're actually going to have to get out there again a market they're going to need to get out there and do old school you know referring and all of that kind of stuff we're going to be pedling back to some of that we can we're not going to be able to sit there and go oh customers are just going to walk to my door and everything will be fine it's not going to be like that because people start choosing how they spend their time and money in these time in these times doesn't mean they don't spend it just means that they're driven by different things so you need to be the noisy one attracting all the attention so that the people are coming to to you but if they don't know you exist how can they do that that's right yeah how do they know exist uh so in this time where a lot of business owners can be really pushing our limits to try and get more money through the door get more clients through the door how do we achieve success in our business but also avoiding burnout I think honestly I think one of the biggest things with burnout is a misalignment of values make sure that your actions are in alignment with your values and I think let's let's strip away this whole work life balance thing because I just think we're chasing a rabit that doesn't exist honestly can we just not like can we can we realize that it's that rather than necessarily trying to get balanced specifically that we actually allow it to be a blend in our life where we put the things in that are important to us because what balances to everyone's different we're not like I I think balance is interesting because the Seesaw when it's imbalance what's it doing it's not moving so allowing movement as balance do you know what I mean like I what I think when from my perspective when I talk about balance right it's more that I have all of the important things that are high value to me that I make time for them in my life yeah right that because balance defined to everyone is different but if we're wanting the balance of equilibrium where everything stays the same don't know that that's real nothing stays the same there Seasons you know like a tree doesn't stay the same nothing stays the same everything's changing so it's more like fluidity more fluidity is balance like it just that different concept of what balance is yeah rather than me yeah a lot of people are chasing something that's not really real yes yeah exactly they're chasing a rabbit that doesn't really exist because i' I've never seen anyone achieve that my entire life but I have seen people achieve and ensure that they put time into all of the areas that are important because they Define what they are they know what they are and then they keep an extremely tight schedule and actually put time into those things and that when you're talking about time and schedules I imagine um that goes back to our beliefs and our values 100% yeah like you know I think a schedule for examp I don't think that I don't know how someone survives without a schedule just in my world because how are you controlling your time you're not time's controlling you and I think you know from a schedule perspective work out when you're going to wake up every morning then you know okay I need 7 to 8 hours sleep now you know when you need to go to bed great then you have all the time in between and schedule it but if you don't put things into if you don't actually put it into your schedule it's a it's how important is to to you really like really you might say it's important but if I look at your actions and I look at your schedule is it really that important maybe it's not so much and that's okay too m so when you look at a schedule I think I'm hearing it's almost like a routine so how important is a routine for a business owner wholeheartedly essential because that's where your you know habits are created right so that routine that schedule that those boundaries the efficiency of your time priorities all of that is how you work out your schedule going you know I'm going to put in family's important to me right like it's it's a highly important value if I do not schedule it in I don't put the time in and then my family are really annoyed with me but even worse I'm annoyed with me because they didn't make any time for them and then I feel guilty and because I'm really gold driven and I can just go put the blinkers on and forget about everything else right so if I don't have a schedule and I don't put in the important things because I say that's important to me so if it is then I need to keep my word and I need to put it in my schedule cuz it's really easy to just be super gold driven forget about everything else other people might not be able to relate to that but I'm sure gold driven people know exactly what I'm talking about and also to be flexible because obviously with schedules things can happen 100% you like that scheduling is not um it's not a rigidity at all it makes you more fluid because right imagine this so like if you think about games think we can talk rugby think about rugby right so on a rugby field if there were no lines no goals no ref then it would just be a whole bunch of men or women jumping all over each other yeah like it really would and people like what on Earth is this thing but then because there's lines on the field there's a ball there's goals and there's a riff We Now call it rugby and it's a game because people have positions they know where they need to go so there's actually the game then works right there's a there's a there's a reason for each part of that game and it works really well now someone else might look at that and think it it makes no sense right if they don't understand the rules but it's you know life is no different we need need the boundaries of our game in order to know how to operate but as a business owner you get the choice to put that in yay that's the freedom you can put in whatever game you want I think a lot of business owners I can't you know word maybe not have a schedule do you find that that's quite common oh heaps don't and they I have no time and I'm like all right let's sit down and the workout let's do a Time audit yeah okay for the next 24 hours I want you to document every everything you do with your time what do you find I don't want to do it yeah what when they when they send that to you what what's the most common thing that you see a lot of Netflix time a lot of like what do you see just a lot of inefficiency a lot of wasted time right and I'm like or a lot of time doing tasks that aren't moving the do towards their goal it's like do you really need to be doing that are we are we just filling up the time to be busy busy or effective which one so we're trying to cut out all the busy and look at what are the activities that really need to be in there to move the dial but you also feel far more successful when you're doing that you just not busy to stay busy yeah bus is a weird word I don't like it no because it's it's just it's fuzzy right like it's like what is that what is it's busy I'm like and that's where a lot of people like oh I'm just so busy I'm like oh good on you like yeah busy doing what though like running around filling up your time with things but but is it is it effective and efficient so so always look for um just the busy to try and edit out the busy um edit out the things that they're distracting themselves with to add the efficiencies back in right and the boundaries and the structure because everyone operates B when they have a structure because then if you want to break your own rules then you can but at least you know what they are yeah but then also you've got something to measure so you can look back and think oh this is what I did today I can tick this off or um oh this worked like I got x amount of sales or x amount of clients this SW oh this process does work or this does exactly exactly you know me measuring things keep stats keep measurement because then you know you have something to measure you have something to go Oh yay I W today well whoa I was so far off B what happened right either way either way is good feedback is just giving you feedback and sometimes we don't like a lot of business owners don't want to look at their stats they're too afraid I don't know if I want to see that don't want to I'm like well you kind of need like looking at your numbers for a lot of business owners don't want to look numbers I'm like um I can understand that because it's a direct when you're a business owner you feel like that's a direct uh hit on you like if you're good enough or not yeah but it's also very confronting and we have carry so much rubbish around money right yeah so a lot of people won't confront their money because they carry so much stuff around their money or they feel they're bad with money or oh well you know but ultimately if you're not looking at your figures you can't get control over them because you can't can't get control over something can't come fromont and you know by looking at your numbers then you can get enough feedback to go maybe I need to change something and then it's having enough self-belief to know you can actually change it like you can make it go right you've made it go wrong so you can make it go right yep Y and you know there's one one person at there that's that comes to mind you I'm sure you're familiar with Gary ve yeah so I like him because he's just like um you know just just give it a go there's no right or wrong way and just because someone's successful they're exactly the same as you they're just a little bit further in their Journey but just you know we're all the same but different 100% exactly you know we can't compare someone's end story to our beginning yeah you know or or anywhere because you actually don't and and particularly with social media right people up their best stuff yep but we don't know what they did to get there um I was listening to John Maxwell went to the Tennant conference he spoke and he said are you willing you might want the thing right you might want that goal you want the thing but are you willing to do the did to get there that that person did to get there and the did is often all the uncomfortable stuff like are you willing to do the did to get that thing you like right that you're seeing and and it's a great question like are you actually willing to to to do what it takes to get there yeah and I don't want to be Downer like I really believe there are no overnight successes but we all celebrate people as if business is an overnight success yeah oh look absolutely and and it sounds like we're Downing business but like I am all for business right I love business like you love what you do I love business I love helping people in business because I think it is well our country can't survive without small businesses right and it makes an impact on families and successful families are hugely important to me right generational change all of that so you know I just think that we deserve to be successful damn right we do right and but you also from a more spiritual level everyone deserves to be the best expression of themselves live to your full potential and be the best expressed version of yourself I think we're so underexpressed and I think business like sports a way to express that Arts a way to express that business is a way to self-express yeah it's just another vehicle to self-express yeah so don't be afraid like we're all scared we're all fearful um but just push through that and keep going cuz it's so worth it it's 100% worth it the the reward on the other side is so rich because then you you created it how cool that right like you can then go I did that I created that thing and that is so rewarding plus also like from a um biggest perspective too you can help so many people you can reach so many more lives you can touch so many more people by being a business owner and providing value and providing service like how cool is that where else you g to do it really cool it's so cool um if anyone's listening to this uh can you just share a little bit before we go a bit about your book yeah sure so um my book is called living from the inside out how to become a modern day Wonder Woman and it really started speaks a lot about my journey when I hit 40 I looked in the mirror and I'm like I don't like what I see um I want to change this both reflectively from a um physique perspective but from a life like everything I was just like this is rubbish and I also didn't want to pass the my own sing thinking over to my daughter so um I made a lot of made a whole bunch of goals and I just went about getting them done so it's really um very much a personal development book it's very much based around you know strategies that actually work in order for you to create the life that you want as a fully expressed person stop being a superwoman because I think Superwoman is the type of person that tries to do everything and doesn't ask for help Wonder Woman's wise so she's Next Level right like she actually knows that she doesn't isn't going to do it on her own her own she uses wisdom to get there and is way more expressed than I think a superwoman ever was or is plus I think just Wonder Woman's kickass and how she looks um so from from my perspective yeah it's really about helping people find that expression living their true purposeful life um and it it's a it's a journey right like it breaks you breaks it down into nine different superpowers I mean it works you through F finding your super Bells every everyone has them that's beautiful help people just to have strategies and to get results yeah 100% yeah so people want to work with you again I just want to this isn't just for business owners that have been in business for a long time if you have started something or whatever I want you to contact
