we've been saying it here on Steelers talk ever since the team traded for Justin Fields couple months back but Russell Wilson has now officially been named the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers week one versus the Atlanta Falcons uh I think Mike Tomlin pretty much knew this all along he named him in Pole Position uh you know a while back here and he's been in that position for a long time now and you know a lot of people throughout training camp especially with Justin getting the first team reps because of Russell Wilson's injury uh of a potential competition was definitely ramping up but I mean the fact that they were being so uh so conscious about the way they were handling Russ's inj injury plus he came back got all the first team reps when he was good to go it just all this all the warning signs were there that Russell Wilson was always going to be the starting quarterback at least to start the 2024 season now that the regular season is here though Russell Wilson's going to have to prove it every single day Justin Fields is still a very talented quarterback and Russell is going to have to earn this job every single week
