Fand, the official sports betting partner of major league baseball and the ultimate Cleveland sports show. We'll spend five minutes real quick to put a cap on the Packers preseason game, but we saw the debuts of some talented rookies for the Browns, Michael Hall, Junior, Zach center and Ri Thrash. Uh, in specific here. Gee what do you like from the rookies in their unofficial but official NFL debuts on Saturday against Green Bay? Well, listen, the, the big, another one that we talked about the camp battles and another one and another one and, or in DJ Khaled another one. Jamari Thrash. Ok, I see what you're doing out here. I see what you're doing. Uh David Bell. Um You better start looking for a job. You might, you might want to get healthy and quickly, quickly because Jamari thrash looked like he was out there like he was like he was a veteran. It's like what I said about Jalen Tyson. I said, look, he just looked apart, he looked like he ain't nothing overwhelming him. It looked like he's ready to go and I thought he caught the ball. Well, I thought he ran, you know, good routes, crisp routes. This guy gonna get some, some minutes. This guy gonna play him and Cedric Tubman. Cedric Tubman is moving up the depth chart as well and I'm gonna tell you like this too. Elijah Moore number eight is in trouble. Elijah Moore. I'm telling you, bro. Do not. You better be, you better be in that training room ready to go. When, when you get ready, your people is calling you like, hey, bro, you good today. I'm just making sure you got your ankles taped. You good. Is you good because you're gonna need to come with something today. That's an under the radar. Terrible trade by the Browns last year. I don't even think it's under the radar. I think it's blinking bad trade, bad trade dropping. Like we talking about dropping from the sixth to seventh round. Who cares? But dropping from the second to third round. Get Elijah Moore. That's was really not good. They uh they got, wouldn't got Jerry Judy this year because it was because he was, he was supposed to get that. He was supposed to get the money that Jerry got. I do it. I agree with you. By the way, I think real quick. Do you know what a real deal projections are by Mike Clay? We didn't ask him about it. I'd be curious to see them 300 yards, 28 catches 367 middling. That's nothing that's mows. That is, that's, that's not even miles sauce. That's, that's the fourth wide receiver. No, we were on Friday. I know you weren't here, but we were, I was really praising Andrew Barry for the work that he's done. And this was all around the conversation that Michael Hall as you know, Zadar Smith said, gosh, a little bit of a Aaron Donald in him. I wish you wouldn't have done that. But, you know, so it got us talking and, and we said, look, you know, he does look good if he hits. I think Andrew Barry has kept this franchise in the position that it's in because he he gave up the three first rounds, but he's really hit on some of these later picks. Jok Jones. Uh, I think that Michael Hall, it's early on him, but I think he's gonna be a guy that, so I think he's done a great job with some of these picks. But the Achilles Heel for this team continues to be wide receiver and how we assess t and that goes to show you and we'll talk about this, maybe thrash breaks that when those, when, when that trade came out and they talked about what it was the Browns offered for, for, uh Brandon. That's a lot. I said I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I would have, but because it goes to his point, they got a problem with receivers and they were so thirsty to get him locked up. So you've got to go back to the, unlike the other guys they have acquired besides Amari Cooper brand that is coming off a pro bowl caliber seat beyond that in all pro pro. You know what scares me though about that. B I know that the age difference is why you would do it because when you look at the numbers from last year, they're identical, they're literally identical. I mean, Auk is a little better but he played one more game than Cooper. But that's if you do the per game averages, they're essentially the same guy. Auk is younger. But, but, but where I'm going with, this is all they have done since Amari Cooper put up the best season he's had in Cleveland is tell them they don't want him anymore. Yeah. I think in the end it'll be fine. I know we're gonna get to that. But, but, um, what I'll say, Jay started the show and take everything on the preseason with a grain of salt and that's true. I can't get excited about Jamari thrash because what I'll say is like before you said, is there a check mark? Would I rather Deshaun Watson play or rather I'm not you if, if my checkmark is, did you like what Jamari thrash did or you didn't like it? I would check the, I like that's what we're doing here. We're not proclaiming him the next, but three catches from DTR against third string corners. I can't, I can't get carried away. But, but you, what like a lot of times in baseball, you forget the result and you look at the at bat like I know you watch it that way. I watch it that way I can watch an at bat. A guy can fly out to left field but you know, he saw pitches, he followed the pitches off his discipline at the plate was good. I'll say that's a, that's a plus at bat. But, and I think for thrash, if you watch his, his, I watch the routes more than anything. Everything looked crisp and to your point. He looks like he belongs, he passes the look test and, and so, well, I'm not, I'm not gonna do back flips but did I like what I, I like what I saw of him. Like, what I'll say is, and I'll use the base, your baseball analogy here. Like I, I might have a young player and in spring training he hit four home runs and let's say he hit those four home runs off. Veteran good pitchers, well, maybe those pitchers were only throwing curveballs with two strikes, just working on one thing, you know, who knows? I don't know what the, what the Packers secondary was doing at that point. The route running. Yeah, that's something you can see, it doesn't matter who he's playing against. Now, I will say Zach Zenner. Now look for me when I was looking at his offensive lineman got to get a little stronger, but that's when you get a little stronger, a little stronger. He was downfield on a couple of plays, working on driving and finishing blocks a little bit. But when you play guard or center in the NFL them is grown men in there. That's not uncommon. That is that to get stronger. You know what I'm saying? That is not, that, that is not something you come in and just, I'm gonna be, he's not playing Northwestern anymore. Same with, same with Mike Hall, right. Mike Hall was utilizing his quickness and he was able to get in on a couple of plays. But if you had to play Mike Hall Junior, every single down, you'd be in trouble a little bit because they, they're gonna, they're gonna double team him, they're gonna block him, they're gonna, you know, scheme him up a little bit, but I like his quickness. You'll see, you'll start to pay dividends. Mike Hall Junior will look awesome on third down when you got Miles Garret out there now, it's makeup now. It's Thomas now. It's like, oh, I don't got to worry about the rest of the guys. I got a one on one. I'm just worried about trying to get off the ball and they're going to have a lot of exotic, different stunts and twists. Jim Shortz looked like he just came out and was like, yeah, we're going to run high school stuff like these dudes out there getting blocked up. I said, but that's to be expected, right? So, you know, they showed me something. But for me, I thought, I thought Thrash looked, looked the most the part but that is also to be in college. They're running a 707. These kids come in ready. These guys have been running these plays forever. Those guys are going to be more advanced than guys up front. It's a nice year last year too. I mean, I know it doesn't always translate, but he's a proven commodity at that, at the college level. And to me, I thought, like you said, he, he didn't look out of place. There's times when I watch David Bell where I'm like, wow, this dude was the big 10 receiver. It's hard to believe. Sometimes he'd be like, he's a quicksand. I'm like, you got it. I think it was just like it, it, it's no, it's no quick twitch. Like he's not making the team. I don't think, I don't think he is. I think he's the new Anthony s All right. So let's say, uh obviously you got Cooper, obviously you got uh Jerry Judy, we know Jamari Thrash is making the team. We know Cedric Tillman is making the team. So it's between Bell and so how many more spots you got? Two more? Elijah Moore. Elijah Moore is he definitely making the team, Elijah Moore? I, I don't know that he's definitely making, I think probably, but ok, let's say he's definite. Most teams go with six receivers. Is that fair? Mike 66 is pretty ok. So who's battling David Bell for the large woods, Mike Woods? And I thought he, he will get to see Mike Woods made a couple of grabs. Um, but Stanski loves David Bell. He likes him like he doesn't do anything flashy and coaches get guys that they just, I just like you, by the way, one last thing of the preseason game. Um We know that every year there is, we don't have that this year. Wait, wait, there's a white, there's a random white dude, uh battling for a roster spot or whatever the fans get excited, but normally it's a wide receiver. Yes, this case, what's I can't even think of his name. He's a safety. He's a DB, he's a safety who breeze. He had 11 tackles and he had a sack, didn't he have a sack? Bree. Bree, it for loss. I thought he had a sack and he got a cool name check that for me, Mike. I think Bree had a sack. A white corner named Bree. That's safe. Let's not get crazy. Not Fox was the last like corner. Last of a dime breeze. A sack. You were correct. He had a sack. Brady Breeze. He's not a rookie 26. He was a 2021 6th round pick out of Oregon by the Tennessee Titans. He's probably down with five teams. The kid from Iowa just got picked. Cooper did that. He's gonna be a player and he returns punts. That was all state in baseball, football and basketball, basketball. I saw his basketball. I'm like this kid is a baller. I know he's like a brother to me. So I'm a little biased, but I didn't know him at the time, Dustin would have had a be he, he ended up on the wrong team. He got drafted by the wrong team to, he was, he had a couple of shots too though. He got injured his first year in those days. You went on, IR you were out for the season. He was ready to play by the first week but they, he got hurt in the beginning of camp and it's, I mean, it was a third round pick and, and, uh, had he been drafted by a different team? He, I think he would have had a longer career, but that's the way to go in the NFL. It's a lot of guys like that. You got to be the right to be in the right spot coaches after his rookie year. And it was oftentimes too when they change general managers, you're like, he's not your guy drafted in the third round. He never played a game for the team to draft him. Third round pick. That's rare. Very rare. So.
