and Graziano and gra it sounds like the Niners are close to getting a deal done with lineman Trent Williams what's the latest yeah the latest is that he's actually there in the San Francisco Bay Area as of last night and the reason he went out there is because they have made enough progress on a reworked contract that he feels confident it will get done and that it's time to get to work after holding out all through training camp Trent Williams has three years left on his contract uh none of the money is guaranteed and he's scheduled to make about 20 million this year about 22 next year 30 plus uh in 2026 so they'll they'll likely adjust it to bring some of the future money forward and give him some guarantees certainly this year and possibly into next year as well uh but the details being worked out but it's close enough that Trent Williams is there and he's planning on trying to be ready for Monday night's game against the Jets okay so that is some good news although he did acrew like $4 million in fines during his hold out so maybe there's some room to make up for that as they restructure this deal now some more good news for the ners offense can you tell us about Christian mcaffrey yeah as our Adam shefer reported earlier this morning Christian mcaffrey who's been out of practice with a calf injury uh was planning to return to practice today so as the 49ers sort of start to get their week one work week going they're getting back to full strength mcaffrey has repeatedly said and so has the team that he could have played if it were if it were in season that they're just being cautious with the calf obviously mcaffry is a player who's had injury issues in the past so they want to be careful with him based on how important he is to them and to their offense uh but him getting back to practice today and then they'll they'll have tomorrow off they'll practice on Thursday because they have the Monday night game that'll be their first sort of official practice of the week but it sounds like mcaffrey and the plan to rest him through Camp may have worked and he should be good to go Okay so Thursday when everyone comes together they'll have Brandon iuk who they just signed to a four-year deal they'll have Christian mcaffrey and hopefully Trent Williams Good News Dan Graziano thank you for the Insight we'll see you in a little bit TR Williams paved the way for the Niners dominant rushing attack last season San Francisco recorded 90 more rush yards than any other team on runs outside the left tackle last season with about seven and a half yards per Rush on those plays NFL analyst Dan orloski is with us right now and Brandon iuk his deal is done with the Niners I'm sure that their fans are happy about that Trent Williams his deal nearing completion how does the presence of Trent Williams impact that Niners offense yeah it's massive I mean Trent Williams is the best player in that conference that's not a quarterback certainly the most important for a team that's gone to the NFC championship game and then the Super Bowl in subsequent years it's a huge deal if you watch this football team and Kyle Shanahan is their head coach and play caller everything starts with Trent Williams can they run the football to the left no matter what the situation the answer is yes and then in the past game you're often thinking well I could just put an x on that guy and so you're trying to find different ways if you're Kyle to get all these different talented players to football and so often it's like how many different ways can you get those guys the ball behind Trent and you really don't have to worry about pass protection cuz you can take Trent Williams we often said this in the NFL like put an X over his side and then you could take all those other parts and help maybe weaker parts of your offensive line with Trent Williams this is a top 10 offensive line in San Francisco without him it's a bottom 10 so for the team that is the defending NFC representative to get him back was basically necessary to be a realistic Contender again in the NFC a lot of people looking at that Trent Williams deal as a priority for the ners more from you in just a bit Dan Shay I mean the deals are getting done left and right but not so much in Cincinnati as Jamar Chase is chasing a new deal that's why we're saying hello to our Bengals reporter Ben baby who's joining us now from where do things stand between Jamar Chase and the Bengals with week one right around the corner on Sunday there's definitely a sense of urgency with that first game just a few days away but I checked in with Jamar yesterday he didn't have anything to offer and I've I've reached out to both sides and it still remains to be seen how close we're getting on this but given the conversations I've had with Chase over the last few months I do know that one of the big things that he's looking for in this contract is the guaranteed money in the deal and he's looking to get paid at the top of the market now what's interesting is the Bengals historically have not been big on giving players a ton of guaranteed money they believe in a big signing bonus and that the fact that they do pay out the majority of their contracts which has been big for the free agents that come in so finding a balance between the two sides that could be the key and seeing who might blink first in this negotiation could help get this deal across the Finish Line in time for week one okay let's stay there week one as we've talked about many times just around the corner the the Bengals are going to play the Patriots what if Chase doesn't sign this contract they can't get over the Finish Line what is the plan yeah talking to folks inside the building there's definitely a sense that this could keep Chase from being on the field and definitely including that week one opener and right now the Bengals have slotted Andre Yos Trenton Irwin and T Higgins and in talking to folks throughout training camp they say that T's had a phenomenal camp and T understands the importance of being out on the field if he is that number one receiver and what it could mean for him as somebody who's looking to cash in on a contract of his own and that's something that's definitely been top of mind for him and he wanted to come in and put the work in to show that he's willing to or deserving of that big deal and I checked in checked in with him yesterday about kind of all the uncertainty and he said that they just have to go in work and beat Pros as they try to figure out what that receiver room is going to look like on Sunday against those Patriots yeah okay so ton of familiarity obviously with tans however I am certain the Bengals would love to have Jamar Chase in place at least for week two when they have to go to Kansas City Ben baby we appreciate the Insight thank you Joe burrow is certainly h Hing his star receiver is ready to go on Sunday burrow and Chase have connected for 27 touchdowns tied for second most among quarterback receiver Duos since 2021 Dan olowski back here with me and the the uh the Bengals they'll be taking on the Patriots and week one so they've kind of got somewhat easy game I say out of trouble but if Chase isn't playing in week one how will that affect that uh that Bengals offense oh a huge deal Jamar Chase is a game changer he's a scheme setter what I mean by that is there's number one receivers across a lot of the NFL there's not a ton of guys that is an offense you sit there and go okay we are going to start with this player Jamar Chase being that one every single time and it's not necessarily what the defense is going to do and there's only a handful of guys like that when Cincinnati sits there and goes okay where's Jamar we're going to start with Jamar and then there's also the reality that defenses sit down New England this week and we'll go well what are we going to do with Jamar Chase that's going to be the number one question and so if there's no Jamar th Higgins has proven to be a number one receiver again their difference scheme changer number one guy they're different and it's not only the butterfly effect of is T Higgins ready to become that scheme changer guy it's is Andre ready is a is a Trent Irwin ready to become that t Higgins that number two option that defenses have to pay so much attention to and it creates a really Advantage advantageous matchup for Cincinnati's offense you got to see if all those subsequent pieces are really ready to take that step forward if no Jamar Chase yeah they will have to step up if Jamar Chase isn't out there on the field for week one Dan olowski with the insight about it moments ago it's new on Sports Center Nobody Does it Like Patrick Mahomes does in terms of I'm not talking about the level of I'm talking about the style of it he is his own guy in terms of the way he plays how quick the ball comes out on the ones down the get it outs and uh and how long he'll take as long as necessary to try to find a completion or scramble run on the ones that aren out fast so that's his skill he's great at it I think their offensive line their passing game everything is built around his skill set that way they've done a great job of that and that's one of the biggest reasons that they're successful as they are our Ravens reporter Jameson Hensley is on the scene Jameson we just heard from John Harbaugh what more can you tell us about how Lamar Jackson is approaching this rematch against the Chiefs well aminaa Lamar Jackson doesn't believe he can even the score against the Chiefs by winning on Thursday night Jackson said we lost to them in the playoffs just beating them in the regular season doesn't really mean anything now that AFC Championship game lost to the Chiefs dropped Jackson to one and four against Patrick momes that's Jackson's most losses against any opposing quarterback so I asked Lamar Jackson whether that served as any motivation heading into Thursday night's game Jackson told me I don't look at any game as a Revenge game any team we're facing whether we've beaten them or lost to them in previous years I just want to win yeah Lamar Jackson just saying all the right things and one of the new weapons for him on that offense is Derrick Henry what has the running back said about what he can bring to this team yeah in last year's AFC Championship Game the Ravens running backs only carried the ball six total times Derrick Henry remembers watching that game from home saying I wish I could suit up for that game now Henry told us this week but now it's my turn it's going to be a hell of a game now Henry has led the NFL in rush in carries in three of the past four years and talking to the Ravens I don't believe he'll have the same heavy workload but the Ravens believe he will play a pivotal role for this team especially if they have a lead in the fourth quarter Ravens offensive coordinator Todd monin told me we want him to be our closer yeah Ravens going into this won a three-point Underdog Jameson thanks so much for that Insight let's bring in our NFL analyst Dan orlovski back here with us and Dan you heard Jameson talk about Derrick Henry he said he was watching that game he said look I wish I was out there on the field what can Derrick Henry bring to that Raven's offense well someone that's as big a star as Lamar Jackson and really in Baltimore since the moment Lamar became their starting quarterback he's been the guy he's been the focal point the star rightfully so and going back to that playoff game last year it was frustrating not only for Derrick Henry but many of us cuz we were sitting there going why won't you run the football cuz the Chiefs defensively were daring almost begging the Baltimore Ravens to run the football and they did not now with Derrick Henry it's going to be almost a force to run the football because you're sitting there going it's not just Lamar in that back field it's a guy that has been one of the if not the best running backs in the NFL over the past 6 or seven years and it's a talent that is inescapable so I think Baltimore now has somebody that they unquestionably believe in all right if the ball's not in Lamar Jackson's hands we're going to be just fine if it's in someone else's specifically Derrick Henry's hands now I'll be interested to see how this plays out Thursday night because I do think for Todd monin who Jameson mentioned as their offensive coordinator it has it's somebody that is going to force him to take the ball out of Lamar's hands and give it to someone else yeah a little bit of a different look for that Ravens offense all right Dan thanks so much yep off with or without their Edge rusher hassad reic Jets will pick off their season against the Niners in prime time for Monday Night Football reick who hasn't stepped foot in the Jets facility since April 1st has been a hold out as he awaits a contract extension jet te coach Robert Salah trying not to sweat it as the season opener is just six days away take a listen to himit new on Sports Center you've got you've got your roster you got the guys who are here and those are the guys you focus on you know and uh you know hopefully eventually he does get here and when he gets here like I said we're going to embrace him we're going to love him we're going to we're going to do everything we can to put him in a a a position to be successful to achieve the goals that he's trying to achieve as well as us but um but I I wouldn't call it disappointment NFL Insider Dan Graziano is back here with us we just heard from Robert SAA talking about Hassan reic a lot of contract questions around the league got Jamar chase you also got Trent Williams and ress right now take us through those contract situations starting with Assan reic well I mean it's really a stand still with the Jets and Hassan reic the team has said that it won't negotiate a new deal with him unless he comes to the to to Camp or to their building and he has uh made it clear to them that he won't show up without a new deal so uh it is at a stalemate uh and there's no real resolution in sight it's possible one side could just sort of cave out of the blue but right now it looks like the Jets aren't going to have us reic for Monday night a lot of mystery around the Jamar Chase situation in Cincinnati he has been in the building he just hasn't been practicing outside of a couple days early last week with two years left on his contract Chase wants to be one of the highest paid receivers in the league uh and at this point we'll see whether he's on the practice field tomorrow but if the Bengals do not give him a new contract you wonder if he's willing to sit out regular season games over it and if so how many and he mentioned Trent Williams of the ners he actually flew back to the San Francisco Bay Area from his home where he'd been holding out for a new deal uh they have made enough progress Williams and the 49ers on talks around a restructured deal that he felt it was worth showing up felt like it was that close to the finish line so Trent Williams would be out there uh we'll see when he gets into practice you know he's a 36y old player that didn't have training camp uh so they're hoping he'll be able to play Monday night against the Jets the fact that he's there obviously makes that a lot more likely and maybe the biggest question out there in terms of contract still out there is Dak Prescott how close are the Cowboys and Dak to coming to an agreement they've definitely had conversations uh in recent days and you know talking to people last night when I was checking in on this situation it sounded like there was some level of optimism that they might be able to get a deal done before the season starts meaning this week so uh it's possible we could get news on a Dak Prescott contract he has the leverage they are not allowed to franchise or transition tag him per his contract they have a 40 plus million do dead money cap hit next year in 2025 if he's not on the team uh the only way to really work around that is to give him an extension before March so if Dak Prescott does a deal with the Cowboys you can be confident that it is exactly the deal he was looking for because there's no reason for him to do anything else everything's sounding like it could be coming together with week one just days away Dan graan byebye fore [Music] foree fore foree spee fore [Music] fore [Music] for Fore spee fore fore spee foree
