Concord is TOO LATE to Save!

I got a$1 million Concord and my dad said I need to put it in the so it can grow over the years well that's fantastic a really smart decision Sony and it's gone so I made a video a few weeks ago I said I thought Concord was Dead on Arrival now I'm not going to sit here and Champion that video or that take because quite honestly it was pretty obvious to anybody even then I won't sit here with an I told you so cuz I honestly thought that it would do a little bit better than this uh I thought it would at least crack a thousand concurrent players not that a th000 concurrent players would really save the game it you know it'd be just as dead at a th000 as it is at 697 which is concurrently not which is the highest concurrent that it's had this might be the biggest bust that we ever see in video gaming history as far as you know the amount of capital that was invested in the project I'm sure there are plenty of busts and there might even be higher profile bus because I don't think there was a whole lot of uh whole lot of hype around this game any any any point but if you look at just the amount of money that's went into it you have an 8-year development cycle probably over $100 million went into developing this and that's not to count in what Sony had to spent in acquiring firewalk if you are at firewalk today I don't know what to tell you I I think Sony will probably try to salvage that studio but I don't really know what's salvageable out of it I don't think any of the creatives there are salvageable I don't think you know the people picking the structure because even if you put all of its other issues about its unoriginality and everything aside you still had a beta where you had no backfill system so you were letting people play your game in situations where it would devolve into a 1v5 somebody had to make that decision which was just an awful decision to allow the players to experience that so I I I would say I think it has good artwork I think there are things that I think can be from it the question is is the juice worth the squeeze like you're going to have to pretty much take a hatchet to this entire studio and at a certain point is what is what's salvageable out it really worth the work it would take to figure out what can be kept and what can't be to get this out there I don't Revel in anybody getting fired I mean at the end of the day I wish that everybody could you know put food on the table you know I don't want anybody to lose their job it's the reality of the entertainment industry um and here's the thing at this point I don't think there's any way out of this let's say you go free to play and the game gets up to 10,000 concurrent play and to be honest I think that's pretty pretty generous to think that it could even get to that 10,000's really not enough to sustain this anyways it's not enough to keep the lights on it's not enough to deal with the overhead of this game so and and you also have to take into account the the game is Peak just under 700 it's sitting at like 2 to 300 concurrent anyways so when players see that it's kind of like the writing's already on the wall even at if even if you make the game free what's the sense in investing your time in or energy in the product when you could just go play other competent products that may not close tomorrow because that's kind of where this is I don't think this game makes it to Christmas at the rate that it's going just because there's too much money that has to be spent and they're all already operating deep deep deep in the red so I don't see how you get out of this in any way uh you would like to say that you give Sony the benefit of the doubt but I mean after the open Beta basically the entire industry was screaming to them that this game was in trouble and they just threw it out there anyways so I think they're probably just going to have to take their licks and learn their lesson on this one it's pretty sad I do hope that it results in them figuring out that you you know trying to copy Trends from 10 years ago meanwhile shoving a bunch of cultural stuff into it and then just poorly executing the whole thing is not going to get them the results that they want it's probably the last time I will talk about it and probably the last time it'll be relevant to be honest with you I feel bad for anybody at the studio who actually had serious dissent about this but I kind of have the feeling that a lot of this was just an echo chamber to begin with anyways because I don't think a product like this gets made in a sit situation where ideas are treated equally amongst people I think you know if there was any descent whatsoever it was probably shouted down very quickly anyways that's it for this one guys if you have any thoughts of your own on this product please leave down in the comments below I'll check out all the comments and until next time guys get awesome [Music]
