season of the Netflix original survival reality series Outlast debuted in 202 23 the whole point of the show is about surviving in Alaska's Wilderness and the only rules are to adapt to a new way of life and get in tune with nature on September 4th 2024 the second season of the show was launched on the streaming platform in the second season of Outlast 16 individuals from various age groups and backgrounds return to live in the Alaskan Wilderness with the barest Necessities for survival these individ uals are divided into groups of four with a leader for each team in terms of regulations the Survival show doesn't have any the vegetables fruits meat and water discovered in the jungle are what the four groups must survive on the Woodland is hazardous for people because it is home to wolves and bears $1 million used would be awarded to the last team standing and it would be divided among the players every player received a flare gun which they can use to exit the game irrespective of their side at any moment members of one team have the option to switch to another even though Outlast does not use any GoPro or covert cameras inside the jungle it does feature a camera crew accompanying the participants and is undoubtedly one of the greatest survival reality series available on Netflix right now in spite of this the show's Direction and cinematography are superb at best the majority of survival reality shows are phony full of needless drama and planning that makes them look cheesy the same reality show places so much emphasis on the bodies of men and women that it almost seems like an objectification of them detracting from the main idea the creators of those kind of programs rarely make an attempt to create the drama the rules on the other hand Outlast aderes to the genre spending minimal time on point lless drama with just six episodes of the show broadcast thus far it is simple to list all of the positive and negative aspects of the program given that none of them have ever lived apart from their families or civilization Outlast does a decent job of elaborating on the various health problems and other worries that each of them encounters once they go camping while some of them are skilled Hunters that does not make them adapt at taking down wild creatures and rendering the meat edible this show adds a variety of scenarios and eventually it becomes too real as the only guideline for each player to follow in order to live to the conclusion the rule is survival of the fittest and they are all doing everything they can to stay alive and active in The Frigid Alaskan Wilderness as supplies continue to run low directing and photography effectively conve the Stress and Anxiety felt by all participants as seen by the fact that many start to leave halfway through when the cold starts to seep into their skin and interfere with their capacity to work they either leave their group or deal with the health problem the tension these barriers create simply heightens the interest level of the program good sound design and music complement the atmosphere Outlast aims to create though at first the Wilderness may seem uninteresting the challenges are what give the story its powerful emotional impact my one issue with the show though is that it leans too much towards men listen up there are more males than females in the show that's hardly a fair game five ladies and 11 males without using a democratic procedure or giving the women an opportunity the show's creators immediately selected four men to be the group leaders in essence the show follows men as they pursue their passions while simultanously succumbing to the temptation of overc committing in an attempt to stay competitive for as long as possible both Outlast is a film that follows the style of Scandinavian film making with visually striking scenes and a generally well-treated plot however the story Skips a lot of important details and repeats a lot of scenes because of this each episode lasted almost exactly 50 minutes which made many parts of the show tiresome throughout the entire show The Players don't encounter anything novel typically an episode is is dominated by a disagreement among the team members over how to handle a particular issue a shortage of food or clean water or both the second season of Outlast concluded with a thrilling Cliffhanger that had viewers eagerly awaiting the season finale to discover which team would make it through the challenging Adventure since of its realistic elements Outlast is a compelling movie since it allows viewers to feel as though they are actually experiencing each participant's trip it's a fun watch that stands apart from the variety of reality shows available on Netflix if you are
