Malaki Starks Postgame Interview - Clemson vs. Georgia

um I think a lot of people have questions about us um you know referring to last year what we could do where we going to be but I think we put our Identity On Tap you know that to the ball and I think that's just that's just how our I know he didn't get too much time on the field but what would it like to see your guys ground even though he was on the opposite Sidelines this time uh I mean it was really good you know know we come from the same place we got real relationship just to see him uh you know it's kind of f his career and I'm excited to see the things he's going do did you guys get to talk it all after the game uh yeah I fil him uh I talked to him a little bit uh just checking up on him I texted him last week or so um I told him how to call when I get out the rock so go talk to him what you say about Nate's performance as a freshman just to have that kind of game um man he he's special Nate is special I told him that when he got here and I told him um I to takeing run with it and uh you know just just here um you know that that running back room was really deep with with a bunch of talent a bunch of experience one the guys I think he can take that message you can say that pay ATT to rank and whatever it may be uh you know we just want to go out there play ball and let the cards how do you like play I like it safy you have PR you know I it just create value for myself I'm help the team out you some people come in safy or whatever the case may be doesn't help doesn't help your tackle uh no no but uh you know it's not about me just my lesson whatever I can do to help the team that's what I do when when did that notion of you playing some star come up in game you guys uh really it really started last year um with tii and you know whenever tii would go out or whatever I would kind of step in um you know that kind of it started on third down be covering on third down and I mov the star for a little bit uh kind of at the beginning of the week uh towards the middle I start getting some more reps and stuff um so I mean I mean I I really do like it like I said when I'm able to go in and star smoke BR able to come on the field it creates a very uh hectic being ready to play allows you to kind of just go to be what allows him to play as much as he did especially like I think uh just just the ability that he wants to grow like you can see itting rooms and walks like he really wants to learn and grow and he really cares obviously he's a great ath but uh he he's just like exp thisi to watch him you know play beside him today was awesome for me because when he got here I knew he would [Music] proba so the were in I kind of knew I was kind run with I think speed change B coming I just want to get I lost the ball uh so I was TR you know I think I a little ear once I saw his speed cuz it like they don't really give you a lot of opportunities like were you a little surprised cuz it it wasn't lot of pass throwing your way today I told one my teammates I was getting a little bored um but uh you know when I realiz the ball was coming out I got I got excited sure second time you made a play like that inside this very stadium was a little bit of deja vu out there a little bit uh a little bit you know it was the same direction just the opposite side of the field um uh you know it's it's glory all glory to God one more about what impressed you most about how he actually play playing so much I think uh his his ability to to take adjustments on the flly you know like when we come back to the S know we talk about adjustments and stuff just him being able to communicate well I know you come as a freshman it's crazy but uh just knock a little back and talk to him like hey they here you're going to do this I'm going go there and all he got it um just his ability to learn and just play uh he plays very fast he very good um you know he plays very F and like that you been a of some really defens how [Music] does um I don't really know uh I really don't you know we don't try to we don't compare oursel to uh other defenses or defenses in the past we try not to at least but uh you know I I think we have a really good defense and we have a the ability to be really good from your perspective what was it like just reading Kate out there just as a defensive back you know just reading the quarterback yeah uh you know he he's very elusive you know he can hurt you in the air hurt you on ground whatever it may be um so just you know kind of going against that quarterback it it brings a little bit more excitement cuz you really never know uh what he's going to do and sense of he can hurt you with whatever he does uh so it was just really exciting to go out there and compete against him want to defenses at the past however let's go back to 2021 you were not playing for Georgia yet but there is a similarity between no touchdowns allowed on defense how proud are you uh really you know that's our thing uh you know I think that's why you come j play defense uh we really care about it here you know has an awesome defensive play they got some defensive guys but uh I think just the ability to go out there and do that take a lot of PR about three more minutes got up against these offense Cu uh first half wasn't really wrong for were you surprised the way they kind of exploded in the second half kind of no uh you know you know not working something else is you know we got a very explosive offense you know I I'm never surprised we got a great ath a [Music] great today and show up um I mean that's just amazing so there's a lot of dep over there you never really go just go out there some days we're going to have days where we don't do well some days we have days they don't do well so we just got to be a to I know A lot's been n with you and I also want to talk about Jay Walker a lot been n to him he's moved around quite a bit um his performance thing he was on the video he was leaving it all out did you see him and his reaction to play yeah uh yeah J Walker is like my brother man I I love being out there on the field and uh I made a joke that uh the sack that we his m not his so uh somebody put down on Statue his M I would appreciate that but um no just just to see his growth and his talent his passion for the game you can like you said you can see it on the field so uh I love being like him KN that you know I [Music] goity you made a lot about being the leader on defense with the you actually were out there today doing is there a different feel for you uh yes or no uh you know cuz I think you know the RO we had last year you know we had Taki Smith andar last and um but you know I still have a role in that too I think um kind of took it and kind of ran with it and it's a lot more natural just to be out there on the field just kind of talking you know everybody wants to do the same day so I'm able to help that you love in your relationship with you rob yeah yeah can you take
