live ladies and gentlemen boys and girls welcome to the Nolan hucky Anthony YouTube channel and I thank all of you for being here wherever you may be and of course however you may be listening I'm going to get right to the point with all of this let me share this out I decided to go live with this just I think I owe that to you guys um um sometimes here hold on just sharing this out my the video here usually when it's a game like this um where I can't react to it immediately and uh Iowa loses I usually don't do a lot well actually I don't know that that's true uh it's kind of Hit or Miss but it I'll just put it to you this way it is very difficult for me to go live for a game like this because of how incredibly devastated I am as a fan um so let's start here this game was a complete disaster for Iowa uh were there some good things in the first half sure but ultimately Iowa losing this game the way that they did to what seems to me might be like a comparatively slightly above average Iowa State team it is still no excuse uh I know it's a rivalry game and crazy things happen in a rivalry game but it kind of feels like amongst the Iowa fan base because of the 10- win Seasons that we've seen from Kirk farence and the you know the prolonged success and you know we're at the end of Kirk far's career and then of course you couple that with what we saw versus Illinois State and fans were given hope and and that the offense was much improved that we just don't lose taiowa State anymore I want to revisit last year last year quite frankly guys we were lucky to win that game and I said that in the post game last year Kirk fence almost lost himself that game that football game the problem with uh Kirk fren style football is yes you do lose or win a lot of games playing that way you also have a high likelihood of losing if that makes sense I if if you're mechanically sound and fundamental you can Edge your way out and it's and it's successful in like college football because they're still kids but you still every single game have a high likelihood of losing you're just really good at games that you have a high likelihood of losing winning at if that makes sense it's Kirk frence always strives to play the type of football of let's let's play it as close to the vest as possible let's make them make mistakes and let's just you know I feel so restricted watching his football games because that is what it's like like it is it really is so restrictive and if a team is the opposing team is able to battle through and get past not having self-inflicted wounds not being totally devastated by Iowa's defense they're able to have a pretty damn good shot of winning the football game and that's what they almost did last year in Iowa City don't forget even last year's game came down to the last play because Iowa totally totally sat on the football in the second half and spurned out buttered out and it was they were lucky to win that game it was a taale of two halves and in that game Kade M deera struggled let me let me so there's that okay it is absolutely I'm gonna share my screen here so you guys can see the stats while I'm talking it is so frustrating and to be honest guys I don't really get as wound up as I once did because I'm so used to the heartache that is Kirk fence football it's it really what it is guys is Iowa football is so good at making us as fans believe that they can be an elite football program Elite they get our hopes up and we we think that Iowa can be a top 15 top 10 program but then they lose to the likes of Iowa State and again credit to Iowa State I'm not I'm not trying to poooo Iowa State they were the better team today they should have won this game if you compare who did what in in the success of both halves Iowa State capitalized in the second half far greater than what Iowa was able to capitalize in the first half but Iowa is so good at making us as fans believe that they are anything more than a slightly above average football program because of all the NFL players we see all of you know the the accolades of allamerican and tight end but yet they still crap the bed against programs like Iowa State and make it far more difficult than it should be and honestly guys I'm getting to a point where I don't even know if I want to keep doing this because it's like you know for me as as somebody who who loves Iowa Sports so much and I have since I was this tall to not have like any trajectory that's up for Iowa football I is very depleting for me Iowa is kind of just like this you know sometimes it's here sometimes it's here but it's just kind of like here for the most part if you average it out so as for this game okay I I'm trying to not talk as meta and I'm trying to talk more um I'm gonna share the video here again um I'm trying not to talk as meta I'm and I'm trying to talk big picture here or or about the actual game th this is this is unbelievable I cannot believe Iowa lost this game it it is absolutely ridiculous so as for this game yes could could Iowa have won this game had they not been total goofballs on in their own red Zone and punched it in at least one time when they had the ball on the one yard line and the three yard line of course okay but again that is a sign of an offense that is mediocre to average versus an offense that is average to good okay and I will say for what it's worth the offense does look if if you compare iow this year to Iowa last year the first two games have been better offensively than the first two games of last year and yes Iowa's defense did definitely hold require some accountability and I was I was clamoring that this might be one of the best Iowa defenses in the history of of Kirk fence's tenure I I think I'm wrong about that at this point you give up 20 points in the second half to Iowa State football at home that's ridiculous it's ridiculous Kate mcamera terrible absolutely terrible uh and I told you guys last week when I did the postgame versus Illinois Illinois State I told you guys I am happy about the performance that we saw but I'm cautiously op uh uh optimistic because it's only one game and it's only an FCS level program are they a top 20 Level FCS program sure okay but still at the end of the day they're an FCS program and Iowa only did what they were supposed to do they dropped a bunch of Fool's Gold but I said the real test and I I said this in the in the game preview versus Iowa State this is going to be the first true test for the Iowa football team and Tim Lester as an offense I also want to say this honestly guys I'm so tired of Iowa playing Iowa State I'm so tired of this schedule I'm so tired of the like I doesn't it feel like we've been here before how many times in the last five years years has it honestly felt any different than what we have seen you know we get this hope and then you know we get all this offseason Buzz all this offseason hype and then we struggle against Iowa State we barely beat Iowa State it's closer than it should be I I just I'm I can't believe it I mean I can uh but it's ridiculous Cade mcamera 13 of 29 he didn't even have 100 effing yards through the air Roco Beck absolutely outclassed Cade mcamera uh who was on the road he made Kade mcamera look like the the the little uh boy quarterback that he is it was of the two Iowa State hands down had the better quarterback and and doesn't that also sound familiar that Iowa state had a better quarterback when it came down to Iowa versus Iowa State I feel like we've been here before too where Iowa State quarterback totally outd the Iowa quarterback but of course Iowa will not look at the drawing board they will not examine this and and ask themselves whether Brenan Sullivan will take them from here to here they'll continue to go with Kade mcamera we will get to seven games into the football season and then Iowa will finally decide that Kate mcamera is an average to below average Quarterback and then they'll go to Brandon Sullivan when they've already dropped one or two games now the positive to this game and then I'm gonna wrap this up guys because I I I'm too charged up I I don't want to talk about this anymore Caleb Johnson is running like a maniac if you would have told me that Caleb Johnson would have 187 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns and Iowa Lost based off of what we saw versus Illinois State I would say you were crazy but again that's Iowa football finding ways to lose a football game when their running back has 187 yards on the ground he's the first running back since Tyler Goodson to have two 100 yard games in this first two games Abu Sama only had 58 yards now did I not call it I said in my game preview that the only way Iowa state would be able to win this game is if Jaylen Noel and Roco Beck were able to single-handedly defeat the Hawkeyes and sure as [ __ ] they did excuse my language just like they almost did last year and again it's all the same stuff over and over and over again Phil Parker same stuff Phil Parker and his defenses always struggle against teams that have an explosive wide receiver that totally lights them up we've seen it versus Purdue we've seen it against Ohio State we've seen it with endless teams if they have a good to Elite wide receiver Iowa's Zone coverage gets carved up like butter and that is what happened with Jaylen Noel or Noel whatever the heck his name is 303 yards to 361 pathetic 99 measley passing yards for Iowa guys if you were to tell Vegas that Iowa was going to have 200 yards rushing they would give Iowa like a 99% chance of winning this football game but Kade mcamera was so poor that he single-handedly lost this game he singlehandedly lost this football game six of 17 compared to Iowa State's two of 14 remember do you guys remember when the Iowa media was was trying to tell us that that there was the Kirk 2.0 the Kirk 3.0 the Kirk when in the second half did Kirk fence make a decisive decision to try and change the momentum rather than just holding on to dear life for the win of this football game like maybe going for it on fourth down maybe going for it on a on a on a a punt a trick play generating some life into his football team no that's Kirk 2.1 be damn that's gone we're we're at Kirk 7.0 which is the same as Kirk like light uh 1.0 uh two interceptions that's definitely one of the differences in the game K Kade mcam again sucked uh compared to Iowa States one time of possession 30-29 here's the team stats Jaylen noell totally killed it Jaden uh Higgin had a good game too embarrassing and you know I like the tight ends getting involved but this is a problem with Tim Lester you have one of the best tight end units in the entire country and you can't find a way to get them involved to get the football and move the mother effing chains you cannot find a way to do that Tim Lester you have potentially a second or first round tight end and you can't find a way to get him the football and you get paid a million dollars a year come on dude all right I got to get out of here before I say something I'm going reget oh man um hey also cayb Brown back from suspension what where's Caleb Brown at does anybody know where Caleb Brown is at is he even still on the on the Iowa football roster it it seems like uh three years ago that Caleb Brown was lighting it up towards the end of the season but again that's classic Iowa football all right guys I'm going to read the comments and then I got to get out of here I I like I said I don't know that I'm going to continue to do this I'm disgusted by this loss um I I I am I am disgusted by this loss I have to get out of here I'll read your guys comments Michael Mor and Nolan I followed you pretty much since you started your podcasting Journey so you probably know I don't say this lightly it is time for Kirk to retire I definitely I I definitely think there that that is is up for discussion the problem is is that Kirk and his style of football always finds a way to win nine or 10 games but again it's as I said at the beginning of the podcast it's the ugliest nine wins that you've ever seen Iowa and also Iowa every single game they have a high likelihood of losing but because they are so fundamentally sounded because it's College where kids tend to make mistakes Iowa finds a way to win but it it's it's it's a very highrisk situation to say the least and then you end up losing to teams like Iowa state that you should not have lost to uh if we're gonna lose I'd rather go out with a bang than losing uh trying not to lose and this is the thing for me I I hate playing Iowa State it makes zero impact for Iowa uh Iowa State usually is not ranked it's totally pointless to me I would rather see Iowa go back to playing pit going back to playing uh you know some like a ACC school like play North Carolina like Minnesota did like why are we all like even if Iowa wins this game it does nothing for their nobody views them any different it it's a it's a worthless game uh Sullivan isn't the answer e either LZ should be qb2 I wish I could agree with you normally I would be willing to take that jump but uh you know we we just didn't we haven't really seen a lot out of lonz you know it's it's basically all speculation from his high school days um you know there's been some good stuff coming from him but you know uh Shay Amos this is unbelievable agreed with guys like Castro and schy I don't know why they don't play more man coverage let those two ragd doll uh their man every once in a while agreed going for two and it was a crap play call lesters and over his head if this athletic department weren't a bunch of cheap asses we would have had philpin true that true that um tatone so many dumb decisions we could have had Kevin John's but Kirk always seeks out washed up bums true that all right guys I got to get out of here I'm disgusted by this loss um I I really am I I don't know where we go from here uh in the grand scheme of things this game probably doesn't mean a whole lot for Iowa and their season um but making the playoff that's out the window Iowa would have to beat Ohio State and basically go undefeated for them to make the playoff at this point so goodbye playoff I was not going to make it uh we're we're only two games into the season and that's that all right guys hang in there try and have a good rest of your weekend uh hopefully we you know I tried to commiserate with you guys uh that's why I decided to go live
