chase you go over 100 yards receiving tonight yeah it didn't take long to figure out that you and Jake have really worked on developing the chemistry and to see that come to fruition on the field yeah what's gone into that just a lot of hanging out I think being more compatible just off the field helps a lot on the field and I think just loving each other and helping each other become better leaders and better um role models for the team for other people um helps us better like play better on the field so I think a lot we've focused a lot on the off field stuff and it's transitioned a lot into game play if you don't mind what are some of those kind of off field things that you guys have done to really build that chemistry yeah we went over to the high school and watched the football game together back at American Fork and just seen everyone interacting with people sorry that's really loud someone someone hit a switch and then turn it off alrighty then we love it you were saying Chase yeah I think just being you know in public around people and showing our faces especially at the little um High School football games and then just spending time together um after practice um but I've really become to love Jake and we've grown chemistry together what was the best thing that the BYU offense did tonight I think we were resilient you know when when things went didn't go our way um and we just kept going I think our Run game looked awesome uh we were slinging the ball I think six or seven receivers caught a pass so we're just deep and we have a lot of talent uh we just played hard and I very proud of everyone on the field when we went out on offense one of the goals of every football team you know in this BYU program is to protect lvl's house exactly how important was it tonight to protect the house and start the season off on a good foot huge and that's a big thing that Connor pay our leader said uh at halftime was you know we need to focus on protecting this house um Tyler baddy said it too and I think that's our leaders have done a great job of emphasizing that this is lel's house that we need to to protect it and win games where has this team grown the most in a year dating back to the season opener against Sam Houston in 2023 I think they we've grown so much with the chemistry and the love that we have for each other getting to know each other's backgrounds and stories and playing for each other I think last year we didn't have as much of that and I think this year we really emphasized and honed in on um loving one another and playing for the guy next to you I know you're on the offensive side of the ball but when the news about Jay Hill broke yeah what was the message to the team as a leader to kind of help the team overcome and and kind of you know understand what had happened of course Jay Hill was absolutely amazing he was the the leader in that moment he said I don't want anyone to focus on me I wanted all the spotlight to be on you guys in that game and unfortunately it leaked um in his mind unfortunately you know of course we want everyone to pray for him and love uh Jay but he didn't want anyone not cuz he wanted the focus to be on BYU football and that's the kind of leader we have at on our coaching staff and it kind of bleeds into the the leadership uh on the team as well and I try to just be like Jay Hill and he's such a an amazing Ambassador for BYU with an NCAA rule in play your good friend Darius Lasser had to sit out one game he'll be back for SMU what is Darius going to do for the wide receivers room when he's back and on the field oh so much just another threat I mean you saw six or seven guys catch a pass and then you add Darius and he's you know that that another guy that just dominates on the field and then you need to focus on as a defense it's going to cause a lot of problems so come SMU they better be ready for Darius Lasser hey quick evaluation of the team I mean just kind of close it out here sum up what were some of the great things that you did great things that the team did and then as you know propelling forward next week what are we looking forward to do the game or more I guess offseason yeah during the game sorry okay no yeah um I think the defense they came out at moments that we needed them most you know when we were struggling on offense the defense put us on their back and they got some turnovers and that's as an offense you need to capitalize on those and I think we did that um and then it just kept rolling from there so I think defense really helped us get that momentum back um and we're just playing as a team right now which is uh leading us to to wins so if we keep doing that we're going to win a lot of games chase congratulations on a great individual performance and a team win we'll see you in Dallas on Friday appr thank you so much appreciate you guys
