pedestrian it's in your will house will swing for the fist you know it's money around here when I talking expense strike one heat a low in the way you can't hit it know you want to start a rally but you better forget it strike to off speed St spot your car looking get ready at the plate this time you're not cooking St three swinging out of the zone you ain't even touching first tell me how they going to drive you home bring back walking back looking like we Ain cool in the game's over might as well put on back to the bullpen oh yeah how's it going everybody we're back to the bullpen I'm H wellhouse looking you find the show at back to the bullpen on X on Instagram here at YouTube please subscribe to our YouTube channel help us climb the subscription chart and also make sure you check us out on iHeart radio look we can get us pretty much anywhere you get your podcast free and easy to listen to this right here this is the guy the man the myth the legend Mike Stanton Mike you gotta point the other way dude you gotta point the other way no the other way oh this way there there you go there you go I think you were talking about me yeah I was I was I was but me I'm oh I'm see on me I see a image I'm poting at you go okay there you go all right Mike tell them where they can find you sir there's only one place and that's on X formerly known as Twitter and that's Mike Stanton 29 the old 2 ner nice Mike um you know we had to come on the show tonight and do a live show for our fans because after a game like today Spencer arti you know you you lay two basically goose eggs you have you have pitchers that go out and shove you have an offense that just they just really were non-competitive one for 19 with the runers and scoring position leading up to the third game and the philis looked like they were just having their way with you and then you know each day now I'm like okay Hunter Brown you got to be the stopper this year he said fber Valdez you got to be the stopper but literally today Spencer arag Getti was the stopper with capital S he had the stuff yeah we had to come on because I think there were a lot of frustrated fans after you know the way this road trip has been going it's been a tough road trip the Astros have been very competitive those first two games against Philly you know they just got outplayed game you know game one um you get to Extra Innings that was a very tight ball game you lose an extra innings game two you know offensively um you know no Aon Nola just shoved I mean that that was a that was a tough game and he pitched very well and then today yeah you needed a big start from Spencer edti and I'll tell you what this guy has shown what his upside is and it's as high as anyone else and you look at what he did 19 swinging misses people know that that's a big that's a big number um nine of those on his fast ball loan he dominated with his fast ball now 19 You go Okay 19 he still had 10 swinging misses all the rest of it was uh was spread out through all the rest of his pitches um you know but nine was the big number as far as the fast Ball's concerned and you know that's what he threw you know he threw about 40% fast balls he dominated with the fast ball um he threw about 27 of 40 for strikes W so um that was that was what he went out there now you go okay you know he's throwing 94 95 miles an hour why weren't the Phillies able to do anything with it well listen the Phillies have a veteran lineup just like the Astros do right and we know that the Astros struggle against guys that they don't have track records against so you know Spencer arag Getti if he's throwing strikes he has the advantage because the Phillies are a veteran Club also and um even though they're a very good offensive team again veterans don't like to hit a guy against guys they haven't seen before arag Getti was in the strike zone you know he was you know what I like about Spencer is once he starts getting into a Groove you can really see see in in just his body manorisms on the mount I mean he starts strutting around he starts you know really being aggressive in the strike zone you know the the sweeper and the slider and the breaking you know that everything was where it needed to be and he was outstanding having a no hitter going into the well going into the eighth inning um just dominant had a few walks but that's okay um and and you go okay well why what makes his stuff so good what made his fast ball so good right he throws from a very unique arm angle okay it's low three quarter almost sidearm and there's not a whole bunch of guys that throw from down there and can get depth on their pitches but Spencer has you know when he finds that release point when he finds the tempo in that delivery you know the ball comes out very good and that's what we saw today the ball just exploding out of his hand and it comes in at a funky angle it's an angle that that big league hitters don't see a whole lot of a lot of times the guys are throwing harder they're throwing from more over the top you riding the ball at the top of the zone and that's not what he was doing he's a little low three quarter and uh but still gets ride on the ball and I just I just love to watch a pitcher especially a young guy when he's feeling it watch him go out there and just you know Dominate and and and you can tell by how he's just walking around the mountain he strikes somebody out he kind of struts I like it I'm digging it and you know he doesn't he doesn't even look at the batter he just turns his back on you almost like he's rejecting you it's it's almost like the subliminal body language like I don't even think that you deserve to be on the field with me right now he may not be thinking that but good Lord his body language is demonstrative yeah what's amazing Mike is he has 47 strikeouts in August in August this is his third double strikeout game where he had 12 double digit strikeouts yeah dig 12 13 had 11 tonight almost had a 12 tonight um he was not happy when Joe es spot came and got him he wanted to keep going he he was at 103 pitches but Mike how key is that for someone like Spencer arag Getti a rookie who really we talked about this we felt got thrown into the mix out of need and necessity versus you know like they did with Hunter Brown they let him marinade a little bit in Triple A yeah but arti comes in and he absolutely owns not only the presence the responsibility and nothing really seems to phase him even when he goes into games after he gives up a few runs says yeah I made a few mistakes I'm going to go back and make adjustments and fix it how important is it for the veterans to have a rookie like that go out there and just feel like he's kind of got it together well it just shows his maturity I mean when when he can stand up in front of the media and take ownership for what he did whether it was positive or negative that's exactly what you're supposed to do and you know what the media respects you for that the fan base will respect you for that when you stand up there and just start making excuses you know especially Astros fans but Baseball fans across the country they're not stupid they they understand you know you know they're not these are not fly by night fans that are watching shows like this no these are the hardcore these are the the people that that you know watch the game in a different light you know they're not on their phones they're they're paying attention to what's going on and when you start making excuses the fan go that's not what happened at all so but erti does a nice job Spencer stands there he he you know he takes the abuse when there's abuse to be had and you know the vice vers the other side of that is what you know you get the praise when you deserve it and he definitely deserves the praise tonight that because you got to remember this is not a ligh hitting Philadelphia Phillies team you're talking about one of the best offenses in the National League and this team is is a beast in the East uh and this this could very well be another postseason preview of course it would have to be World Series but you know that's that's the caliber of these two teams that's the caliber of the Phillies this year it's been a couple years you know getting them back on track but this is a very good team so this wasn't just you know just an average Joe team that Spencer went out there and dominated against I mean he did he did an outstanding job and what now what really helped him also yeah was the Astro scored runs you know you you are you are a completely different pitcher when you get multiple runs on the board now you can be more aggressive you know the the the stress of the game the the likelihood of you getting a loss isn't hanging on every single pitch you know so you're able to you know be a little bit looser be a little bit more aggressive and that's and and once Spencer gets on a roll man we've seen him do this before this is this is outstanding big time swinging Miss with that arms that arm slot and the stuff that he has and he has had just an absolute incredible August so I want to relate something you're saying back to a friend of mine we were having a conversation about Shawn Dubin a couple weeks ago and sha Dubin was doing really well the other day and he he he text me right away because him and I have been talking about duban since he made it up to Tri even before that he's like look I really like this guy you know he said I want to remind you the Dodgers really wanted him they really wanted him when he came up but it's taken about three years to develop him and who he is but he said if you put Dubin in a situation where he can let it fly he has when he has more freedom he's relaxed he doesn't feel boxed in that's when he's at his best that's when he's hitting the triple digits and that's when he's most effective and so he said that's the tough part about deploying the bullpen is getting the guy in there when he's most effective someone like a duban because not everybody's a natural like Mike Stanton goes out every every other day and throws but you know what I'm saying I just yeah I think it's key and the way the Astros seem to prepare their pitchers it seems like it's Second To None to be honest well and listen that is that's the nature of being a young pitcher that when you go out there you get maybe whether it's a clean inning or or you have a lead or whatever it is when you're at your most comfortable that's when you're gonna throw the best and we've seen that from sea Sean's got a big arm there's no doubt about that you're talking about mid High 90s this guy he's got a little bit of a funky arm you know he's kind of long and lanky and he's got a little bit of a funky arm slot too and and so his ball his fast ball at times can really play up uh you know has he made mistakes of course everybody Mak Stakes mistakes sometimes those get hit but you know where the maturation process has to really Advance is when he's not comfortable you bring him in with guys on you know you're not maybe you know you work your way into trouble and you're trying to work your way out of that trouble right you know and and you're not in that that comfort zone but you still have to execute the pitches you still have to be in the right frame of mind you still have to uh repeat your delivery and repeat repeat your arm slot uh and release point and execute your game plan and you know when everything's going great you know anybody can look like a world beater but when they're not that's when things can uh can really can really fall apart and that's what we to go back to Spencer that's what we saw with Spencer arag Getti early in his early in his big league career you know he would throw up zeros just fine but then he would have the big inning right you know he would give up he would give up seven he would give up six he'd give up four and it would be all in one inning then you look at the numbers at the end of the night you go man he didn't pitch very well right yeah he did he threw six Innings but it was one inning that you know he gave he gave it up and what we've seen is we've seen him even when he doesn't have his best stuff that he can still you know mix in a few outs get himself out of trouble and we we've seen him really mature in front of our eyes uh and that's not easy to do because I thought when he came up I wasn't sure that he was completely ready right I thought that you know the stuff was great there was nothing wrong with that but I just didn't think with his mental approach and with his confidence in himself I didn't think he was quite there and we've seen him really grow in front of our eyes over the last few months exactly so you mentioned that and you know his first game was against Kansas City three Innings seven runs all earned yeah but the first two the first two innings were shut out he gave up seven in the third inning right it was that one inning and then um so in April and what three starts he gave up 13 earned runs 18 hits in 10.2 Innings so his erra actually it's dropped so this is what's crazy okay he started out obviously with a 21 on day one okay on the first went down to 11 you go into you you literally look look at his ER and it almost every time you look at it it goes down and right now it's at a minuscule 2.55 2.55 overall overall uh hold on did is that just that might be for the month of August oh I'm sorry 4.94 sorry yeah sorry but 4.94 is a far actually I think he's better than actually I think it's better than that before that been before today okay his erra coming out of today I think was 46 oh wow okay look at it right here according to mlb.com 463 so you you look at those numbers go okay 46 Big League average so he's he's okay but yes but you look at that's why that's why you have to look deeper into the numbers you can't just look at just what's happening overall you got to look at the trends and the trends right now Spencer arti has lower lowered his ER by you know double or triple depending on when you want to start uh you know start the process so um and again I I like what he's doing against teams that are good teams I mean you're not talking about just pushover teams you're not talking about teams that are sell dwellers you know the Phillies are in you know they're in first place this is a a first place caliber team this is a pennant you know challenging team and he goes out there and just absolutely shoves and dominates and you won on a day when the when the Mariners also won again so you at least keep the three and a half game lead and it it would be huge we'll talk after we talk about yordon about the importance distancing themsel but right now Mike yordon is at 311 399 on base 564 slug 963 Ops 28 home runs I believe that's with today um 28 home runs he hit three today even Reggie Jackson tweeted about it Reggie Jackson on a roll big fella he said watch out because once he gets on a roll but he's at 28 home runs the most home runs he's hit is 37 I mean if this guy catches fire going into the postseason and they hold on to the division he is one of the most feared hitters in all of baseball and Mikey doesn't just hurt you with the Home Run he hurts you with the singles and the doubles and getting on base he is an important part and I think as yordon goes this offense seems to go no doubt yordon Jose I mean it's U you know the way bregman has you know luckily he's gotten back in the lineup you know these are the guys that are going to do all the heavy lifting and you know what makes yordon so tough okay the hit tool is off the chart okay so what did he hit today his first at bat he hit a change up off Taiwan Walker didn't kill it but a left-handed hitter hit it right down the Third Base Line the left field line into the seats and was it was it a great pitch it wasn't a great pitch but was it a terrible pitch it wasn't a terrible pitch either it was elevated just a little bit off the outside corner and yordon let it travel and he's so strong get it in the air the ball's gonna go okay then he hits then he hits a curveball okay a curveball middle away coming from the outside corner onto the plate and he just demolishes this ball okay now he's hitting the off speed pitch let's see what he can do against the fast ball 97 miles now down and in and he hits a two iron to straightway Center when he swings in the bat like this you might as well just walk him because and let somebody else beat you because if you're going to put the ball in the strike zone and he showed today it really doesn't matter what the pitch is when he's seeing the ball well and his timing is right he's he's next next to impossible to get out he is I mean because if you just go to his baseball Savant page everything is in bright red yeah they're all like in if y'all don't know what that means you know look at baseball Savon it basically means he's from like 87% on when it comes to every metric that they measure now in the game and I think that is and I believe I was listening to um I believe I was listening to Sparky and Ford and I think they said that was the furthest to the left they had seen yordon hit an opposite field home run you know he because he poked it out well you can't I mean he hit it it was probably 15 feet Fair yeah maybe not that far down the left field light so you really can't get any fur I mean but but that ball when so I saw it you know home run okay it's Jordon but for some reason on the replay even in slow motion the ball popped off of his Bat just like oh my gosh I mean he hit it he hit it on the good part of the bat he had a good launch angle on I don't know what it was I don't really pay that close attention but I can tell you this Philadelphia just like Baltimore same part of the country during the day the ball will travel the ball will fly and that might now the other two the other two he killed the one uh McCormick killed yeah okay this was a ball that he didn't hit all that great but so big so strong hit it in the right part of the park because he hits it you know 30 feet to the right you know straight away left that is probably not a home run it's probably caught exactly but you know on that first opposite field I remember talk I remember them talking about the Back Spin too I mean when that backspin hits and and I I look it seems like an optical illusion okay because he doesn't seem to swing with much effort right now you coach young athletes and and I mean have you do you ever remember playing with anybody that had a swing that was like you would look at it you're like okay he barely hit it but the ball would just fly off the bat do you remember yeah there's there's been there's been a lot of guys like that um and really what it is it's it's incredible hand speed it's incredible what yordon has and I remember him when he first came up um you know he had hit 25 home runs in the minor leagues and he came up just demolishing the ball and he comes to the big leagues and he does exactly the same thing he hit 25 home runs after his call up so he hit 50 home runs W in that first season and I did not see him take and I was doing a lot of games um uh for the the network at the time right uh so I saw a good portion if not just about all his at bats I did not see him take an off-balance swing until deep into the postseason that year wow and that's what makes him so dangerous is that even when the timing is not right you don't see him off balance you don't see him falling down yeah he swings and misses because he's he's a big dude and listen hitting the Major League Baseball is is hard but his balance is just incredible and you go to any great hitter other than well maybe Altuve uh you go to any great hitter their balance is incredible Barry Bonds balance off the chart you know you go to the the all-time greats of of of the this generation and the previous generation you know Albert pools incredible balance um you know just go down the list and yordon is right there with them it's really incredible to see a guy that big especially at as young as he was when he came up to have a balance in his swing and is that something that can be taught yes and no it can be taught that you can get better at having balance you know in your swing but what yordon does that's special that's probably god-given yeah that's definitely seems like a natural talent and it is natural if you go to RAM shirts.com and click the QR code and grab a back of the bull Bullpen shirt like almost said something back to the bullpen shirt well we we have been known to [ __ ] every once in a while this one this this QR code right here yes so check out that QR code see here's the thing I'm pointing this way but I'm am I pointing the opposite way for you yes are you are you not no because my my image is mirrored so so I am too so I'm pointing yeah so you are we are both pointing at the right QR code W yes folks and this is not our first show it really isn't we promise yeah well you know Mike and I Mike and I talked yesterday we thought hey let's just throw a podcast together why not you know a little h a little a little off kilter but hey no but seriously go to Ram shirts they they have our shirts they have so many other things there um check out Mark um I know he's running some specials right now um I think if you buy a couple different shirts he has them at discounted prices and he's even GNA throw in a free shirt so go check him out on Instagram he's got a little reel on it go watch him tell them we sent you and also make sure that if you are going to go to the Astros game sometime soon or anywhere go to the state of the art barber shop to get your cut right when you got your fit right with your shirt you get your cut right at 1616 South Friendswood Drive with ever Cruz and Company tell them that back to the bullpen sent you get 10% off your haircut um what a fun game to talk to wasn't a fun series but you can't win them all and it seems like the only series we've won lately was that white socks Series so the Astros have kind of started to Trend they've they kind of cooled off a little bit but I I think it's more the EB and flow of the baseball season because you're not gonna win like if you've got 30 games you're not gonna win 25 out of 30 games you're gonna go up you're gonna go down but I want to talk about something real quick so chasmine cormick it is it is so he got sent down I i' heard the day before that he was going to be sent down um in exchange for a move to bring up to to sign Jason Hayward who who would be less than basically league minimum I believe but it is I know Chandler roome um confirmed earlier that it would it would be for a big league contract that's not a minor league contract yeah um so he would come up to the big club now I haven't seen the official official word from the Astros but I believe I would be hard pressed to think that he isn't in an Astros uniform by tomorrow when they face K City may not in the game but be in produced as a part of the team at some point and my question to you is this is this a Chaz move is this a Tucker move do we know of course right now we're speculating we're opining we don't know for sure we don't we're not inside sourcing this and leaking anything but why do you think they go out and get someone like a Jason Hayward well I mean I I think that it beckons the question of does that have anything to do with Tucker and and I I don't know I mean we we don't know and you know what Dana round's not going to tell us um that's that's just this the the the nature of what's going on here I think you're you know the the the one thing you can look at with Jason Hayward you're still looking at a quality human being you're looking at a a very high quality outfielder you're talking about a gold glove caliber Outfield even even all these years he's still a very very good outfielder you know offensively you know there's going to be times he gets hot but you know the numbers speak for themselves I mean you don't hit a little over 200 and say I'm hitting the ball really hard all the time but you know I think this is just one of those moves that that you're you're really trying to solidify the roster going forward through the regular season um so you know what does what does that mean I mean you're able to bring in a a a superior defensive outfielder you bring him in and maybe you know change a scenery maybe he gets hot hits few home runs does some things to really help this team down the stretch yeah and that's you know that's what I was thinking a veteran presence someone who knows the game like you know a good Clubhouse guy yeah you you're not gonna bring some guy that's a fire brand or you know his got a wild hair maybe he's gonna disrupt because this Clubhouse is all about chemistry they're all about doing things together just like we saw you say kuchi come in and I think anybody that's come in Kendall gravan anybody who's come in the last few years they come and they feel apart and how great is it to have someone like Hector nar's back this guy was he bought all the guys cowboy hats and cowboy boots Western shopping that was a hilarious picture we talked about that a while back but to me it's like Hector ner should have never left but maybe Hector neries needed to experience something different because he came back and he seem it seems like he's never left yeah well again I mean the it it it's it's easy to say but change of scenery May mean everything and you know he you know Hector if you look at his season he got off to a good start he had a save or two against the Astros um and you know things just kind of fell apart but when you go back to a place that you've had a lot of success um you know just the state of mind can really you know have a put a big Improvement on what you're doing on the field and and I think that's what's happening that's what you're hoping you're G to get from Jason Hayward if that deal does go through uh so you know we'll just have to wait and see but yeah Hector you know listen if he can get ahead in the Z ahead in the count and then he can get the split finger and throw it in between the catcher feet he's got to get guys out because the pitch is filthy fastball has to be in the zone and that's what we've seen so far um you know the breaking ball is definitely his thir third pitch it's mostly about that the the fast ball at the top of Zone the split down but if he's if he's throwing strikes he's going to be able to to get some guys out we've already seen that in the short stin he's been back with the Astros now we we do need to examine this um you know the Astros are three and a half back of the Mariners um they just won their series versus ahead of the Mariners yeah we are we are ahead of the Mariners yes um the Mariners are behind us three and a half games the Mariners have ahead of them I think a little bit easier schedule than we do but I think we're out of the I I think we're out of the gauntlet part well Kansas City's tough well no after so yeah after Kansas City we're not necessarily Out of the Woods yeah but they've got the angels and the A's back toback that's like seven games they've got St Louis San Diego they've got the rangers they do have the Yankees and they have in September they have a gauntlet for of they're you know they down the stretch they are playing the big boys uh in the American League so you know this is not that we you know I said it before we don't need to worry about the Mariners the Mariners will you know they still have to figure out how to score runs and they've played a little bit better lately you know uh the Astros the problem one of the problems the Astros has had is the the schedule I mean they have played some really good teams over the last couple weeks they haven't had any days off uh and you know they go right back into it tomorrow back here at minam Park against Kansas City Kansas City is a good young team led by Bobby Whit Jr one of the best young players in the game they just handling the um the Guardians yeah yeah so um yeah this is but you know the Astros still are in charge of their own destiny true they've done yeah they have not played now you tell the truth I'm not going to say they have played bad over this stretch they haven't played you know just terrible baseball but when you're playing you know postseason caliber games you have to play clean baseball and one things that we've seen is you know other than just a an example or two the Astros have been in just about every one of these baseball games through this Gauntlet so you know you look at it and say okay the record isn't near what you would like it to be but it's not like you're just getting you know getting blown out every single night so exactly you know the Astros are uh are playing good baseball against really good teams but their schedule's gonna lighten up I mean it it it you know you're you're not going to have you're not playing first place teams and and you know playoff caliber teams the whole season right and uh but as far as the Mariners are concerned you still got the three and a half game lead it's not a huge lead but you know you've treaded water through this uh through this tough time so far and you just keep doing it for about the next week and things are lighten up yeah I agree with that and if you look at where they are with 71 wins a month ago you would have been like I don't know if they'd have 71 wins at the end of all because they weren't they just they had started heating up but gosh when you look at this team um Mike there was a when they were on Fox the other day they they flashed the graphic of what the Astros record was like PRI prior to it was it's right here 12 and 24 fourth worst a negative 32 run differential through May 8th then from May 9th on and I think that's around the time was that when a Brady was let go 56 and right right in that area I think 56 and 34 a plus 99 differential best in Major League Baseball so overall they've played the best baseball now for us because we're fans because we're Fanatics here in Houston every little l we freak out and I try to tell look and I and I name drop you and I say Mike Stanton told me not to worry about the Mariners and it was like I know but we just lost these two games but going into the playoffs I like what we've done and I kind of want to look at this before we wrap things up I want to look at Dana Brown's moves that he's made because he's quietly made some of the best moves I think in baseball this year you know typically the best moves by a fan would be oh if you go out and get someone like aota you got to go out and make the big block deal and that's not always the case we saw the Braves did that with four just average pickups and they were key contributors so let's look at this top Acquisitions is first three Victor kartini which I thought was a very good pickup oh he's been outstanding he has really been outstanding him Taylor Scott um this guy was a free agent in the minor leagues incred um and then Josh I mean yeah and then yeah I mean Taylor Scott literally pitched 63 of his 100 plus Innings this year right Josh haer who went on a massive like save streak 20 27 28 G yeah something like that 27 um just has been nails and then you got Caleb ort I mean you know good big body pitch oh and and a big fast ball I I I still shake my head and I understand for Boston he really hadn't gotten anybody out but I'll tell you I don't know if he made an adjustment or yet again we'll use the change of scenery line right but he has been outstanding with I mean the the f i and I love the aggressiveness on the I you know it's kind of how I pitched you know here it is I'm gonna throw it in the strike zone I'm gonna throw it as hard as I can hit it if you can and you can see the erra at 126 not too many people have that's right then you have you say cak they are five and0 in games or he pitches I mean you can't argue with that Caleb Ferguson really I mean I I highly question that move I mean when Yankees fans were shouting we got a human being for Caleb I was like oh wait this guy's that bad like good Lord like like they're wanting like one of my friends was like I'm glad we gave y'all a bad player like I was like good Lord and he's actually not he's he's been another big another another situation a guy that's got good stuff the problems he's had with the Yankees uh and in his career is you know throwing strikes and sometimes when he throws strikes they're not quality strikes but and we've seen a little bit of that from him uh as an astro but he's kind of made a couple adjustments and he's gotten some some some pretty good outs for the for the for the for the Houston Astros exactly and then the the last few Ben gaml which I didn't see coming um i' I've been calling him Ben Gambit like Gambit the the the Marvel superhero just because he's come on the scene and he's just really hitting out of his mind right now Hector dar's we talked about him um and then Jason Hayward look you know I don't know like he's a free agent they've talked about him they've hinted towards it I'm pretty sure they're gonna sign him but these are all moves would you say that Dana Brown gets a passing grade I mean he I think oh absolutely absolutely because you look at every one of now have there been some other moves that haven't worked out of course but that's you know that's the nature of the Beast of being a a major league general manager you know you make the move with the information you have at the time and you move on and you know the the crazy thing is most of the time whoever wins the free agent trade deadline it's not usually the guys that bring in the big bats you know it's usually you know you you bring in a a pitcher that maybe isn't pitching as well as his stuff says he should should you say Kikuchi you know you bring in someone that's a retread from another organization like ort I mean you know and and you make an adjustment you have to change of scenery whatever it is and then all of a sudden he's getting big outs for you getting big hits for you so uh you know could you see this from gamble uh Gamble about uh you know him hitting almost 400 probably not but Hey listen he got a clean slate he got a clean start coming to the Astros and he has decided that you know what I'm G to take this and I'm going to run with it he's letting the ball travel making the pitcher throw in strikes hitting the ball hard and you know Les we forget 2017 when he came on the scene with the Mariners he had a very good rookie Camp he did so it wasn't like he just came out of nowhere like he was he had never done it before right right yeah and and I think guys like that thrive in a lineup like this and I want to get your thoughts on this the Gremlins the elbow bregman say got Gremlins in his elbow they were like well we're probably not going to play him at third well he's been playing at third and he says when I swing sometimes I feel it sometimes I don't I'm not asking you to diagnose it and become WebMD for us not a doctor right and I did not stay at a holiday and express last night so I don't know if I'm gonna be smart or not well my thing is to me it sounds like there's something going on with this elbow bone spurs or something to where it's probably something he can basically ride through the rest of the season and probably do something in the off season but for all tensive purposes bregman's been an absolute gamer despite that well I mean you know you look at what bregman has done and there have been times that we've questioned oh my gosh there has to be some he's he you know there's no quality but and then we find out later that you know he had a pulled hamstring or is you know he had a really bad knee or whatever you know whatever the injury was and he was just going to play through it you know it's nice that we have the information that we do you know because he you know he he missed those few days with the uh with the elbow inflammation and you know you go well how can a position player have something going on with his elbow he doesn't throw all that much yeah you do there's ground balls every you're throwing every and he's been throwing his whole life so you know a lot of times injuries come from wear and tear and you know he's being vague using the term Gremlins but yeah you can probably predict there's some bone chips or bone spurs or something going on in there we're not going to speculate but we know that we know that um that Alex is a gamer we know that he wants to be on the field and if he can be on the field he's going to be on the field uh so uh it's one of those things that you just manage the dayto day and you know and we've already seen you know there's times that you know yeah it's a little sore today I probably need the DH or take the day off or I feel pretty good today you can put me in the you can put me in the lineup Skip and that's how it's going to go but you also know going down the stretch I'm going to make a prediction that he's going to play more and more at third base because you're going to start going on adrenaline when you get into September and have the chance to get into the postseason exactly and also he had he had his Tower buzzed a little bit today he got he got he got a little luckily it was a glancing blow yeah but that you know that's got to be scary not just for the batter and unless you're a pitcher that's head hunting it's probably scary for the pitcher because I think a lot of times you know that's that that's something you don't want to do is hit somebody in the head because that could be very very detrimental but um just want to um wrap this up I think the Astros are set it is going to be look every one of these series feel like the playoffs the Orioles games felt like playoffs oh definitely the the Phillies games felt like playoffs these Royals games this weekend are going to feel like playoffs um but I'm excited to see what happens and what comes of it I think the starting pitchers get it done as long as the bats come along I think the Astros look I was going to be okay with the split Mike if we won the series in Philadelphia but now that we only took two of three I I would like the Astros to take three of four from the royals it's you know winning a four game series against a quality Club is is tough sweeping is next to Impossible there's not very many four game sweeps right um and but I think you you don't even go you go in looking at it as a series you go in looking at tomorrow's game right and and you know you try and win the game you try to win the inning you try and win the out you try and win the pitch and that's how you you do it with baby steps you know um if if you're playing Left Field you want to beat the other left fielder and you know whatever it takes to get the motivation and listen we know that that uh that minim Park is going to be rocking and rolling yeah you know I'll be out there you guys can come by and say hello at the set for Space City home network in Centerfield I'll be out there with Josh reick uh doing the pre- and post game um on on Friday so it it listen this is we're getting close enough to September with the dog days are almost over yeah it's still hot understand that but you know the Dog Days mean you've been playing a long time but you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel well you're St starting to be able to see a slight glimmer at the end of that tunnel which is the end of the season and the postseason so you know it's gonna it changes your attitude just a little bit but listen Kansas City's a good team they're gonna have to play good solid baseball not give any you know either physical errors or mental errors play clean get a few hits with run scoring position because you think that the the pitching staff's goingon to be okay definitely well hey I'll be there Friday night um I'll bring by I've got some uh I've got some extra backs of the bullpen stickers maybe there you go if people stop by and see you you can hand so yeah definitely check them out um I'll be out there in like 153 Row one so I can't lean over the wall and interfere with the play man if a home run comes to me I'm leaning back and I'm catching it there you go so um but Mike thank you um this has been great um Nobody Breaks it down like you do that's that's why we that's why I think back to the bullpen is second to none and thank you to Ram shirts thank you to State of-the-art barber shop um just man what a what a great game yordon Alvarez we didn't even really talk about yordon with I mean we did but man three home runs Mike that that's that's outstanding it's a career it's a career type day I mean you you know he could be a Hall of Famer you know hit 600 home runs and he's only gonna have a couple days that were like this you know hit three home runs four RB uh just demolish the ball all over the stadium um yeah it was a special day and he he would say that too because it this it just doesn't happen very often you're right it doesn't um so look for myself for Mike um for all of us here back to the bullpen we thank y'all so much we got 173 of y'all listening we are live right now on X we
