[Music] welcome to Monroe Louisiana Malone Stadium home to the ULM warhawks and and the Jaguars will kick it away to start us off from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position finds just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd line so the UL Monroe warhawks offense is on the field for the first time today and here he comes this offense is built completely around the talents of this running back a rare commodity in today's game and all eyes are on it and the defense knows it too you know every single snap this defense is going to be keying on this running back knowing that he is the key to the offense's success works his way to the 38 after gaining five it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line give to the running back turns it on to Midfield he goes out of bounds but there is a flag on the field let's see what this one's [Applause] about holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here they're going to test that run defense to the right here just working and poking and ping and finding his way up to the 36 they ran it on first down now on second they'll leave it with him you're not getting him on the ground still on his feet he's R out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down wide receiver now comes in motion trying to out flank them on the Jet Sweep at the 40 there he goes makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down after run run run now throw excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away the incomplete pass leaves him with second down give to the back look out he's got room that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the [Music] stop might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again brought down after a pick up of five yds down to the 10 operating in the Red Zone here on second down fast motion from the offense touch pass on the Jet Sweep nice move there they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about hold we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to cover power football with the Run they get him stopped after a two- yd game ball is at the 17 ninth play of the drive coming up but they'll have to convert third and long to keep it going looking to throw coming after him that pass is well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down and on fourth down they'll try to salvage the drive with a field goal right down the boulevard it's good and the first points of the day come on that field goal this is a team that really Prides themselves on starting fast you've seen that before and here they are playing at home today nice job on the opening drive lots of boys good emotion they don't get the touchdown they would have liked but they kick a nice field goal they've got the lead head coach has to be happy with that so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away the returner will field it and bring it back stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return so South Alabama offense will get the ball for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed a Jet Sweep pass he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is holding amazing how many times an offensive holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome it gives it to the back on the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple what can they pull out of the Playbook here on second and long from the 17 trying play action and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the T he just terrorizes quarterbacks his 30th career sack and that's an amazing number 30 sacks because a lot of guys get sacks early in their careers and then coordinators figure it out and then start double teaming them and sliding and chipping and then their numbers come down this guy though David has never stopped and it's got to be consistently Jesse like you got to consistently play hard play after play cuz sometimes they get rid of the ball fast sometimes you can't get in the mix but to get to the quarterback 30 times very few people have done that and man I tell you what I just love his Instinct you can tell when the ball's being pass he sees it and he breaks on the football that's why he's in the top 10 in interceptions this season just such a great feel in the passing game and you got to be careful when you attack him and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground U Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play caller yeah no doubt I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him and finding out where are my Playmakers who can we take advantage of on this def defense to get a touchdown here yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we moving the football and we got the lead they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try from the gun wants to pass it's complete and he's brought down after a nice game and the War Hawks are moving quickly down the field movement here from the tight end from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back they'll finally get him stopped at the one yd line what a run there the warhawks line it up with a first and goal Powers forward into the end zone he goes touchdown warhawks up and over yamoo be there into the end zone and you don't want to leave your feet very often in football but this is one of those areas where you do in the End Zone near the goal line you smell it a lot of bodies in front of you just get up get over top of them get that touchdown and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin Hey guys let's take a look at what's happening in a great top 25 matchup Virginia is trailing right now but I'm not ready to say this team is out not after the way this group has rallied around that coach it really has been something to see it's a touchdown game they're trailing by seven to Virginia be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down from the gun wants to pass how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion the Jaguars line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away makes a move not able to pop the big return but theyve got the ball back and ready to go with a fresh possession guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down he's up to 86 yds rushing and that should be no surprise he's been among the nation's Elite All Season crosses the 30 to the 29 before he stopped pick up a five on the play it's a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs wide out in motion receiver on the Move gets the touch pass and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop [Music] [Applause] time has expired here in the quarter and Louisiana Monroe has the edge they wanted to strike first and strike hard and they've been able to do that here in the first quarter as we take a look at the stats just about ready to get things started here in the second we'll see if they continue to flex that muscle keeping it on the ground on first and goal he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is reeling second and goal for this offense tries again to get it in and he takes it in for the score touchdown you El Monroe this is a guy that put a lot of pressure on himself coming in this season he felt like he was ready to have a breakout here he knew he had all the tools in the toolbox to be able to get it done and he showing that's his 10th rushing touchdown on the season they'll try to attack one more on their score and with the extra point they now have a three possession lead at 17 almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown he'll start the return inside as five and the returner will be brought down guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama off defense trailing Now by 17 David this is an opportunity that they need to answer and down by 17 it's not panic mode yet like I know we just gave up some points and our defense hasn't played great I think this offense can still be who they are and stay consistent no doubt lots of football to go but you do get the feeling this is the time of game where you know it could get bad if you don't score and all of a sudden they get the ball back they take it down the field and put some points up this thing might be over so absolutely this quarterback he wants to drive this offense down the field and at least put something on third down coming on Third and long he has to throw for it and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 this is not going to get any easier you're already down you know it's passing situation and you got to protect your quarterback and they can't do it this has not been a great day early for this offense the Jaguars will call on their punt [Applause] team he's brought down but there's also a penalty marker down let's see what this is about personal foul ring the kicker defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keep keep this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty he'll do it himself we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and the Jaguars want to pick up the [Applause] tempo caught in the back field it's har he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play thir they go to the draw and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop the Jaguars will putt this one away he's got it he gets a block very little will make a crowd hold it breath like a pun return and he brought them to their feet on that one wasting no time throwing on this drive fires to the tight end and they are finding some space in this defense he's got it down to the 25 now inside 4 minutes as we're getting later in the first half motion from the offense touch pass on the rck nice move to keep moving and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would love being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB who wouldn't have been the only All-American in this Bo game if I were allowed to had push passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead of around and the warhawks are on the move from the gun give on the inside not much Running Room he's got one down to the 12 going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone into the spin cycle and forward with that he's got 101 yds on the ground and he's been terrific All Season ranking in the top 10 in rushing on Third and short they'll try to convert through the air and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down and and they'll have to settle for a field goal try and he'll try to knock through a short one is second of the day this one from 23 he got it and that will extend their lead even further [Music] that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running he'll return it that gamble did not pay off as they bring him down at the 12 yd line South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work they've gotten nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three-possession hole Jesse yeah and as a head coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking at this point D yeah nothing went well in the first quarter you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now ship into this lead try to make it somewhat manageable when you get to the half they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw the spin still on his feet that kind of play will get a drive started or help your field position they've got it at the 27 the Jaguars want to move quickly grab behind the line it's Hart and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short game when with the running game on first down now back at it I don't know if that's the coverage you want to be throwing wide receiver screens against often times you want the receivers to have some access you want the DBS to be off a couple yards so you can help set up the blocks and give the receiver somewhere to go with it it's hard to run that against press coverage and they only picked up a few yards there he makes the connection and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down he's going to pass and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes they've already racked up big sack numbers is starting to snowball and they are ready to go again bu a little time trying to escape and get it himself and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding third and long from the 42 if they can get some of it it might give them a chance to go for it on fourth down from the gun wants to pass and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes timeout called here by the defense it's their first of the half and the Jaguars decide to punt it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 looking for a productive play on first down he wants to throw got him downfield he gets those chains moving gets it out to the 42 yd line that's the type of explosive play you love to start a drive with first down from the 42 using the quick game when these wide receivers work the middle of the field so much of this is f understanding where the holes are in the zone or understanding how to get leverage on a man and these wide receivers are dangerous nowadays because they do it so fast and see that so quick and make those plays over the middle looking to move it through the air unloads to the right he's got it he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down the warhawks come to the line with a new set of downs they'll throw it on first down they're working that left side complete some of these hitch throws early you're setting up the hitch and go later on you can pump fake that and then the receiver can p wet right up the sideline that might be a home run play for the offense he's looking for a man on second down swings it out to the flat the defense wouldn't let him lose there and it was a completion but they lost yardage Ball's at the 25 they're in field goal range but they' love to convert this third and short they're bringing heat didn't have anything working and just had to throw it away on third down so here comes the field goal unit they've been doing work today they've already made a couple this is not a straight on Kick a 42 y from the right hatch field goal is good and now the leades extended a little far down [Music] Z that late in a half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break ran through the contact not a whole lot of progress made there on the short run that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halftime update fellas you've had yourselves one great broadcast so far today there in Monroe talk about a first half from that dude out of the back field he's been a total game changer and how many top plays moments have we seen on Miss tackles Alone video game moves from one of the shiftiest players in all of college football and just like that let's head back to our team inside Malone [Music] stadium and the warhawks will kick it off to start the second half and he's going to bring it out of the end zone he stopped short of the 20 at the 19 and probably wishes he just taken the touch back the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work they start this third quarter in a big hole and they have to start climbing out right now and they're going to have to be really aggressive like this offense when I'm playing from behind every possession means so much more and if you look the other side the defense they haven't given much resistance yeah nothing has G on their way in the first half offensively and you know now based on how this defense is playing with their confidence that you are going to be challenged on every single snap so buckle up get your mind right and get ready to come back in this game second down coming up the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty on second down just keeps firing and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit this offense is just stuck in the mud they've already punted four times and it's third down looking deep down the right side fires into a world of traffic and it's picked off not a lot on the return but they can win with that as they've got it at the 49 and when it's third and so long it's very predictable I'm bringing more DBS on the field I'm bringing more speed I know you're going to pass the football offenses have to be aggressive they have to take shots they did it there the defense makes the big [Music] Point U Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now if you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploit him they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 leaves it with the back runs through a tackle hold down after a pick up of five but they knocked that defense back and they've got it down to the 34 wide receiver coming across in motion here comes the speed on the Jet Sweep and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage here on third down for this offense the playaction fake he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming so here comes the field goal unit again this kicker is already made three in this one between the uprights it's good and they'll push that that lead out a little further how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just trut him out there and let him stroke it through the uprights they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work looks like he's going to try to return it and the Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next Drive okay so here comes the offense returning to the field wide receiver shows motion off the play fake on first down to throw grabbed over the middle it's Hart and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that [Applause] one they run the reverse and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine clot kicks under the 4minute Mark here in the third quarter wide receiver now comes in motion they go to the ground a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior they're about to wear this punter out he's already been out four times staring at a fifth if they can't move the chains pocket starts to collapse and they he got him he'll get him down for the sack this has been a frustrating day and I'm not sure it's going to get any better you're already down huge listen this offense can't protect this quarterback they don't do anything right right now this defense has had their number all game long the Jaguars will send out the punt unit they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today yet another punt on the way got to make sure that that hamstring stays loose he's been busy they'll get down and put a stop to this return they'll mark it at the 32 guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time you want to talk about having a weapon to bail out a drive David that's why kickers are so important after that long field goal yeah and listen important is a relative term we need to make longer passes and get better gains so we don't have to kick long field goals Palmer again on offense and they've got the weapons to do that David they just got to be able to dial those plays up guys have to be able to make them oneon-one to make life easier on this kicker who is so important get they'll Run play action fires toward the end zone fires into traffic it's picked off got some room to run and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and that's got to feel good and that's to play this young man is never going to forget his first interception of the Season great job reading the QB's eyes and getting to the [Applause] football guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal and they'll stop him after a minimal pickup got three on first down it's second and seven from the gun they'll give it on the inside he breaks a tackle they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 he'll pull it on the read they'll get him on the ground at the 46 and it'll be a first down the Jaguars are rolling down the field that one never had a chance incomplete couldn't get anything done on first down now second and 10 from the 46 from the shotgun they'll run it they could have used a little bit more there pick up of three it's third and seven if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum unloads it left makes the grab and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 this offense hasn't found the end zone yet starting to move it's first and 10 trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here he had all kinds of company as soon as he got and he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage the give is to Williams only a couple there and now staring at third and eight they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one now they'll run the draw he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and the Jaguars will line up to pun it away and these guys have been busy six pun of the day no opportunity to run it back as the ball goes out of bounds U Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work boy they hope this next Drive is more productive after throwing a pick last time Jesse Yeah and the coaches did a good job on the sideline there just talking to the Young quarterback and making sure he's able to turn the page calm him down to go out and refocus this drive DAV yeah and some people do that better than others but you got to show some trust in him maybe get the ground game going help around him a little bit with the system dragged down at the 30 after a 5yd gain here's the hand off they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter running back searching for a hole and they get him on the ground and that'll probably do it for the third quarter time has expired here in the quarter in Louisiana Monroe has the edge and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings as we start the fourth quarter it'll take a pretty sizable comeback to win this one eight- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short nice move to stay on his feet big reason why his team has the lead right now late is because of his performance running the football well over a 100 yards in this game they knew that they were going to have to really put a lot of pressure on him he'd have to shoulder the load and he has delivered for his offense all game long now on second down he's looking to throw a shot toward the end zone and it's picked off and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception have a day young fell two interceptions already that's that's three four five six games for some people a hot start catching the football he's acting like he's playing wide receiver out there I might think about trying a different DB South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the play out this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense catch in the middle it's Williams that's a nice pickup to give them some breathing room and they've got it out to the 27 he'll come out throwing on first down makes the grab on the left and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup here comes the offense on second down the aerial assault continues he's going to run it and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit the Jaguars come to the line with a fresh set of downs looking to go up top on first down quarterback needs to make a better throw there incomplete after the misfire now on second down he's looking to throw got it behind the line it's Williams and that play just never got started as he's right out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage third com on Third and long a check down will be the last resort and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up fourth down on fourth down looking for the completion makes the grab and he's got the first and they finally make the tackle but this will be a pretty easy conversion for this offense and this set of downs get started from the 33 first and 10 he's looking to throw it and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack I tell you what if I'm this QB I am ill as a hornet in my offensive line are you kidding me that's the sixth time they put me on the ground dudes will y'all protect me a little bit better please this drive was rolling and then it got thrown into reverse here's a second and 18 he's looking to throw moves around to clear up the vision on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pick up there now facing a third and long third from the gun wants to pass and they can't make the connection on third down coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this leate fourth down attempt coming trying to get to him he'll pull it down and run he's not going to make it and what a big stop for this defense and they might be able to put this thing away turn on the G and tick tick tick tick tick tick tick Forge is ahead picks up about three to the 29 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven fast motion from the offense they'll give it to the back just working and poking and Bing and finding his way up to the 36 we reached the two-minute warning and this offense is that much closer to salting away a victory touch pass on the Jet [Applause] Sweep he'll have enough for the first down and they stop him at the 45 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs the give to the lone running back at the 45 on it way they wrestle him to the ground but he's got PL for a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs wide out in motion they're going to go right back to him on first down that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there when you know you have a team outclassed the ability to play to that standard and finish with a blowout like this is really impressive and it's almost like playing against yourself right you know you're better you know you're going to win the football game but how do I continue to still execute this this was so easy great execution I just beat down in every facet I think as a player you just love being in such great rhythm and we saw that right from the get-go of this game offense just able to matriculate the ball down the field defense was not giving anything up what a great game plan coming in and this was just Total Domination that's going to do it for us
