Ep-3: Should Tua Retire? Week 1 NFL Recap, Stats, Updates...Will Ohtani Reach 50-50? MLB Power Ra...

welcome back to another episode of the beyond the game podcast I'm Rolland walls alongside Andrew Mercer what's up guys we're GNA get into the usual uh talk about some NFL content baseball um so I'm going to hand it over to Andrew to get into some NFL content so I first want to start things off with a little bit of a recap for the week one games so uh last Thursday uh we had the Ravens and Chiefs the Chiefs won 27 to 20 the game really was down to the end the Ravens lost by literally a toe if Isaiah ley's foot was a little bit smaller the Ravens would have won that game but I mean that was just a matchup between the two best teams in the league and like I said last week they're definitely going to see each other again getting into the Friday game we had the Green Bay Packers versus the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 34-29 in Brazil um the game was pretty close and down down until the end saquon Barkley had three touchdowns in his Eagles debut so he's looking F he's looking fantastic in Philly and AJ Brown's back Devonte Smith's back Dallas goddard's back I mean they did give up 29 Points but I mean the Packers are a good team but the Packers did suffer a big loss at the end of the game as uh Star Quarterback Jordan love went down in the final final two plays um his an MCL sprain which is resulting in him missing at least three to six weeks um that now shifts the starting role to to third-year quarterback out of Liberty Malik Willis as he'll be starting this week against the Colts um that's definitely a big shift as I mean you're going from a franchise quarterback to a backup I mean that's kind of leaning me towards I don't know I mean are the Packers going to start the year off rough I mean they did bring in Josh Jacobs Josh Jacobs had a good game but I mean that's going to be a tough division you got the Lions you got the Bears you got the Vikings who played surprisingly well as I mean I'll get into that game I mean the Vikings destroyed the Giants it was 28 to6 I mean last week I picked the Giants I had all the hopes in the world that Daniel Jones was going to play great Malik neighbors was going to get a touchdown Devin single ter was going to play great and I was dead wrong I was dead wrong I mean I think that that Kevin oconnell system is for real man for real I mean Sam darnold looked like a franchise quarterback in that system I mean Justin Jefferson played well Aaron Jones looked to have found the Fountain of Youth I mean that just it was just a great game for the Vikings and just a great start for them um we then had the Steelers and Falcons the Steelers came away with a victory of a 18 to10 um Kurt Cousins does not look good he really does not look good and I mean they asked him after the game like how's the Achilles feeling and he was like oh I feel great but like just watching the game he he just doesn't have any Mobility I mean the guy almost 37 years old and they just gave him that big contract but you know it is important to note they did spend the seventh overall pick on Michael penx Jr out of Washington but I just don't think that you make a QB change that quickly but I mean it's just something interesting to think about and to pay attention to but I mean bjn Robinson played well Drake London didn't but I mean he didn't really have a quarterback throwing on the ball so kind of the same as last year uh the Steelers I mean you look at it they scored 18 points but they didn't score a touchdown they did not score a single touchdown Chris Bosell had six field goals so I mean if you were playing fantasy that's 26 points that's crazy but um I mean Justin Fields didn't play bad but he also didn't play great but he also didn't turn the ball over so I mean he was really served his job as a game manager so uh you know he's actually getting the start this week uh Russell Wilson still dealing with the calf injury so uh I'm intrigued to see what happens this week uh we had the Dolphins and the Jags that game was kind of a little controvers um had a little bit of controversy pregame as Tyreek Hill was um detained outside of the stadium for reckless driving that caused a lot of controversy as uh the cops kind of overreacted in the situation and then ended up throwing Kus Campbell and tight end John new Smith In Handcuffs none of the players were fully arrested or anything like that and they all played in the game but um I mean I think it's funny maybe maybe those cops had like the over on the Jags you know they were betting that the Jags were going to win that game so they were going to do everything that they could to make sure that the Jags could win that game I believe the I believe the cop was put on a uh administrative leave I'm not 100% sure but I know Tyreek uh he got fined and then I believe because of the actions of the police officer that um he was put on leave I don't know about I don't know if it was both police officers but I know the one that did most of the manhandling with Hill I'm pretty sure he he got in some trouble yeah I mean I I think it was just um you know an abuse of power I mean I think that they were both wrong and the whole story I mean Tyreek was kind of very uh like hesitant to hand over his license Administration but I mean we're not law enforcement so I mean I'm not going to talk too much about that but the Dolphins did go away uh take away with the win with um yeah we'll cut that but the Dolphins did walk away with the win 20 to 17 um getting into the next game oh oh I was dead wrong on this game and I think a lot of people in the country were but I guess I seem to forget that Cincinnati just sucks in week one uh New England walked away with the win 16 to 10 I mean I literally was talking about how New England was like the worst team ever and how they were terrible and how Cincinnati was going to blow them out but I was wrong I mean what is the problem with Cincinnati it's every year they're just terrible for the first few weeks and I'm like what is going on like are they going to suck and then all of a sudden they turn it around but I mean one important thing to note from last week was Joe burrow did not look healthy I mean there was clips of him like messing with his wrist and I mean I don't know if many many of you know but he sustained a really bad wrist injury last year against the Ravens which resulted him and resulted in him getting surgery and missing the rest of the season but I mean there was videos of him trying to hold up a gatorade bottle and he couldn't he was struggling to hold a gatorade bottle so like you know that's a big concern you know I've heard that people that have sustained the injury that he has it's something that lingers for the rest of your career rest of your life and just important to note the Bengals just paid Joe burrow I mean he's tied for now the second highest paid quarterback in the league and I mean they also had T Higgins out with a hamstring injury Jamar Chase is dealing with his contract situation I mean what's going on what's going on with the Bengals I mean the Steelers won I mean yeah the Ravens lost but I mean I think the Ravens are gonna be right up there and no I'm not just being a biased Ravens fan I promise um but I mean that was just a tough game but congratulations to uh gerod Mayo on getting his first career win um definitely the hardest one to get so uh you know props to you uh getting into the next game we had the Buffalo Bills in Arizona Cardinals that was surprising a shootout and I mean I was talking about it last week about how I thought that both of the teams just had zero offensive Firepower but apparently I was wrong I mean Buffalo put up 34 points it was 34 to 28 but um Kyler you do realize that you spent a top your team spent a top five pick on a wide receiver a generational Talent the son of a Hall of Famer and you targeted him once he was wide open and you just didn't go there I mean that's your number one target man Hollywood's gone rondale Moore's gone that's your guy that's your guy and you're just leaving him out there I mean you still put up 28 points which is pretty impressive but you got to get Marvin Harrison more involved but uh Buffalo I mean I'll get into it a little bit later but they look good Josh Allen looks great he looks really good and I mean I know I had concerns about like you know Stefon Diggs being gone Gabe Davis being gone but Allen's looked awesome I mean he's looked like an MVP start the year so um I hope that continues um we had another shootout between the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts I mean I think that that's going to be the division right there I mean between those two I mean the Texans walked away with the win 29 to 27 but like that was a good game I mean Anthony Richardson holy crap man I mean what an arm he's got a rocket of an arm I me what was it like a 60 yard touchdown like it was nothing I mean Anthony Richardson is just a freak of nature if that guy can stay healthy that's a top 10 quarterback in the league but yes he's got to stay healthy because last year he dealt with a lot of injuries at Florida dealt with a lot of injuries they got to protect him but um yeah but I just don't think he's better than CJ strad I mean CJ strad I mean I had him and Jordan love as my picks for MVP and well Jordan love went down with injury and CJ strad still standing and you know he seemed to still involve Stefon Diggs Nico Collins tank Dell Dalton Schultz Joe Mixon I mean that was another player that found the Fountain of Youth he looked fantastic FC so I mean I think that Texans offense is just going to be awesome I mean top three in the league but uh props to the Texans uh we got the Tennessee Titans and the Chicago Bears um I don't know if Caleb Williams just had a bit bit of a first game Jitters but I mean dude you didn't do anything to win that game I mean if it wasn't if it wasn't for your defense and your special teams and you know um will Lis try pretty much actively trying to lose the game you would have lost by like 20 points you didn't even throw for 100 yards man but um yeah I mean the Bears walked away with the 24 17 win props to the defense props to the SE special teams well Lis you suck man you're just mid but uh you know work on it for next week man um the next game another game I was wrong about and you know I'll let Ryland chip in on this one but uh the Saints dominated the Panthers it was 47 to10 I mean Derek carford threw for three y three touchdowns 200 yards Bryce young sucked threw for two interceptions ran into his own offenseive line I mean I know that that was the talk of out of college is how short he was but he looked so good out of out of Alabama he just had the it factor and you know I just don't know if it's translating to the NFL I mean they brought in Brian Callahan who's supposed to be this quarterback whiz quarterback coach well that didn't work if anything they looked worse than they looked last year how is that possible I mean I I mean at this point I think they're the equivalent the NFL equivalent of the Chicago White Socks and that's saying something but that is saying something but yeah Ryan what you what' you think about that game I mean my man Derek Carr bald out everybody doubted him um I mean I again I know it's the Panthers but again he balled out I mean I 200 yards like you said three touchdowns he was 19 for 23 um I really still wish he was on the Raiders I don't think Garner shu is our guy I really wish we would have kept Eric Carr I think the the offensive coordinator was the problem when Carr was the uh quarterback for the Raiders um but again I mean great game scored 17 in the first quarter 13 in the second quarter only seven in the third quarter and then 10 in the fourth quarter but 47 points week one if Derek Carr can do this every single week the Saints might actually be good I I mean you never know so uh I'm going to keep my eye on that again like I said I'll always be a Derek Carr fan no matter what team he's on but I'm excited to see what uh what the rest of the season holds for him yeah I mean the Saints just they looked good offensively defensively I mean and with the Falcons not playing well I mean this division could come down to the Saints in the bucks but I mean if I'm going if I had to pick the Saints to the Bucks I'm picking Mayfield in the Bucks sorry Ryland but um going on to the next game we had your Las Vegas Raiders going up against the Los Angeles chargers chargers took away walked away with the w 22-10 um as a Ravens fan it was really cool to see JK Dobbins playing in his first game back from Miss Achilles injury I mean that guy is just had some really shitty luck just really bad luck and I feel bad I mean he's torn his ACL torn his Achilles I mean when he's healthy he's good and I mean I do I can't help them to mention that I mean I saw him running and it's just like that that that extra burst that he had when he first came to the league and then when he haded Ohio State it's just not there but I mean he's still just a really good runner ran for I believe 130 yards plus a touchdown I mean right now he's the rv1 in Los Angeles but I mean that's what they're going to do that's what they're going to do they really don't have anyone to throw the ball to I mean lad mcconley um rookie out of Georgia did have a touchdown he's you know he reminds me a lot of like a Julian Edelman you know that type of player but um I don't know I mean I you know you got Jim arall you got Greg Roman I their main philosophy is run the ball run run run run I mean look at pretty much how Michigan was so successful last year was they ran Blake Goram until the wheels fell off you know what I mean and then they ended up winning the championship the national championship so I mean the Chargers if they run that M you know continue to run that same game plan they're not going to be a half bad team I mean I do want to mention uh rookie tackle Joe Al he stood his ground against Max Crosby you know Max Crosby didn't get a single pressure against um Justin Herbert and Max Crosby is supposed to be a top three top five you know Edge rusher in the league and you got a rookie that's that's insane and then they got Rashad Slater on the other side I mean I was one of the people that questioned the pick but um I I see the mindset now I see the brains behind the philosophy um had the Seahawks and the Broncos the Seahawks uh won 26 to 20 bonick struggled bonck really struggled and I know Seattle is a tough environment especially for your first game but um I just really don't think bonck did anything for them to win that game I mean he threw it in the triple coverage I mean the dude was in college for like seven years he was in multiple different program you know programs he was at Alburn then he was at Oregon top tier programs and you know that's like the first thing you learn when you're playing quarterback is to not throw it in triple coverage but um you know I'm hoping for the best for him um Gino looked good um jsn looked good locket looked good MF looked okay but um I'm hoping that they can uh incorporate all three of them I mean Zack shanet looks really good Kenneth Walker I mean they got a good one-two punch in that backfield but um their defense also looks really good under Mike McDonald I mean Seattle's a good team they're a good team and I mean I think that they could definitely sneak in as a wild card I mean do that do I think that they win the division absolutely not but like they're a good team um getting into the next game we had the uh debut of uh Jaden Daniels for the commanders he did come up short as the Bucks won 37 to 20 Tampa Bay looked awesome I don't know what happened with Baker Mayfield I mean at the end of his Cleveland days it was like oh this guy's mid and then they sent him over to Carolina he was terrible something about Carolina guys they should just kick Carolina out of the league they're an embarrassment David temper sell the team please but um Tampa I mean ever since he been in T I mean he did go to Los Angeles um I remember that he was playing the Raiders actually and um he got signed and you know there were some staff went down there were some injuries and Baker Mayfield had to learn that Playbook you know the Shawn McBay playbook in 48 hours and he did it to Perfection he won that game and you know that earned him a second chance Tampa gave him a one-year contract I mean they were coming off of Tom birdie retirement they needed something and Baker Mayfield played great last year led him to the playoffs beat the Eagles but um I think think that Baker Mayfield Mike Evans connection is something special I mean Mike Evans is the first pallad Hall of Famer there's a reason why the guy hasn't had under a th000 yards in any of the seasons uh that he's participated in getting into the Cowboys and Browns Tom Brady's first game in the booth um I know there's a lot of people that are shading Tom Brady and saying oh he's you know he's just not good in the booth it was his first game give cut the guy some slack I mean there was a reason why he was a six round pick out of Michigan I mean he was doubted his whole career and he went on went on and won seven Super Bowls so keep on doubting him keep on doing it Fox doesn't care he doesn't care he signed a 10e like $300 million contract he doesn't care what all these fans are saying but the final score of that game was 33 to 17 um that was you know that the Browns SC scored in garbage time that was a blowout the Shawn Watson looks terrible man terrible um did come out I think it was like maybe the day after the game he does have another sexual assault case against him against him um I think that that could cause possible uh complications with him playing this season but man Cleveland I bet you're regretting it I bet you're regretting giving him a full-time you know fully guaranteed contract and seeing how well Baker's playing down in Tampa Bay you're regretting it but um yeah um I they just look terrible I mean the defense for Dallas looked awesome and you know that was Mike Zimmer's first game back as a defensive coordinator they look good mik Parsons came and said praise Mike Zimmer and said how free he feels and how free everyone on the defense feels I mean Dallas looks scary they look scary and I was wrong I was wrong about them uh I do want to point out that uh before game time Dak Prescott reached a uh new contract with the Dallas Cowboys for um four years $240 million um that contract now gives him $60 million a year which makes him the highest play player in the history of the NFL and I think that is I don't necessarily want to say disgraceful cuz he's not a bad player but like if someone deserves to be the highest played highest paid player in the league it's Patrick Mahomes the the dude's won three Super Bowls he's won back to back he's aiming to win you know a threee which has never been done but Dak Prescott Dak Prescott really like the guy that loses in the first round every year I mean yeah he puts up some stats but he can't win when it matters but um I I'll digress from that I just I think that was a huge mistake as they just paid CD lamb they just paid um Dak I mean I just saw statistic that that's 47% of their cap space in two players and Michel Parson's you know he's coming up you know ready for an extension if you pay all three of them that's your whole team you don't have any other money to pay anybody else you're going to have a bunch of McDonald's workers playing receiver and all that so I mean I mean I've seen suggestions that Dallas should trade Micah Parsons you know get some value for it I mean the dude's insane but I mean I think that's the story for the off season but with the Rams in the Lions uh the Lions won 26 to 20 in overtime as soon as they got to overtime they just handed the ball to David Montgomery and just said run the ball run the ball run the ball I mean I'm going to rob was Conor non-existent um my preseason breakout Player of the Year Jameson Williams went bazooka's Bazookas in that game I mean he had over 100 yards a touchdown I mean yeah I I said last week I think he's going to be a great compliment to amanra another great weapon another good option for Jerick off I mean I think the lions are just getting scarier and scarier and I mean the Rams they did lose puka nakua in that game he went down with KNE injury and he's now been placed on the IR and they did lose a couple linemen but I mean somehow the Rams still figure out how to be good so I mean I'm not going to doubt them but uh that was a great game and for the last game in week one we had the 49ers in the Jets um Aaron Rogers first game back off the Achilles um it was 32 to 19 but again just like the Cleveland game I mean the Jets scored a a garbage time touchdown cool Tyrod Taylor that's awesome alizard that's great but uh that was a blowout and Christian mcaffry didn't even play I mean I know there was a little bit of controversy regarding that but Jordan Mason what a game man monster game I mean now the arguably the 49ers have a one-two punch they've gotten better and this guy's under a rookie contract I mean how do they keep doing this I mean I I I still praise the Kyle Shanahan system you know they just you know turn nothing into something and I mean pry didn't really have to do much D played great Jordan Mason I mean the defense Fred Warner best middle linebacker in the league no doubt I mean they look good and I mean Aaron Rogers just had some Rust I mean Bree Hall played well but uh I'm excited to see what the Jets do this season I'm not counting them out but uh um I do want to get into week two uh the Steelers are planning on starting Justin Fields again against the Broncos Russell Wilson still dealing with a calf injury I mean that's all a weird situation I mean Russell Wilson was all suited up last week he looked like he could go in the game so I mean is this a secret plot of just getting Justin fields to play I don't know that's you know that's something we'll find out as time goes on but um I'm intrigued I mean I hope Justin Fields plays a little bit better but uh yeah I mean for that game I I got I got the Steelers I got the Steelers winning but um I do want to get into some Power Rankings uh I'll list the top 11 and I'll list the bottom five starting at the top we got the Kansas City Chiefs I don't think that's debatable they're the best team in the league I mean if anyone's gonna thre repeat in this league in league history it's going to be them I mean they did just lose Hollywood Brown uh he went under uh he under go s shoulder surgery today actually which is resulting in him being placed on the IR but um I they're just so good I mean Xavier worthy ver rashed rice Pacheko Kelsey no Greg that defense it's not a problem um number two we got the 49ers you've heard me talk so highly of the 49ers at all times pretty much You' think I'm their biggest fan but I mean everyone knows I'm a Ravens fan but I respect everyone's game especially if you're a good organization I respect you but uh 49ers are at two I mean they look good yeah they got a match up against the Vikings this week um we got the lions at three uh uh yeah I I I just talked about it the lions are good they're a good team Jameson Williams Aman ra St Brown uh Sam lorta and then they got that one-two punch in the backfield with David mcgomery and jir Gibbs Jared G and then they got a good defense great coach and Dan Campbell that's a good team um we got the Philadelphia Eagles at four um they looked good they like I said saquon Barkley had three touchdowns they looked good you know I'm I'm I'm excited to see what they look like this year but it is important to note they were rankly they were ranked High every week of the Season till about week 14 last year and then they just jumped off a cliff so I hope that the season's a little bit a diff you know little bit of a different story for them but uh yeah we got the Ravens at five uh I mean I think that's a respectful spot I mean if uh they were to go anywhere I I guess they would switch with the Texans which are six but I mean the Ravens look good they did look good I mean they did lose but as I said they lost by a toe I mean come on guys it was right down to the end but uh yeah they got a match up against Raiders this week got the Texans at six one and0 they're looking great they got great offense great defense I'm excited CJ St MVP pick for me uh we got the bills at seven uh they did just win last last night against the Dolphins in a blowout fashion I was wrong about the bills they look great Allen looks like an MVP candidate James Cook he's the real freaking deal guys real deal I mean he's the brother dvin cook uh I mean dvin cook was really good in his prime but James Cook is what dvin really wasn't he's really good in like the passing game I mean that's where he really dominates and buffalo really seemed to have found something I mean I know that that was controversial for that team and like you know that was the main problem with that team was they just didn't have you know a running game and they found their guy so uh props to them uh got the Cowboys at eight I mean I think that's respectful they went into Cleveland they beat him by you know good fashion they're a good team you know we'll just see them fall apart and you know losing the first round like always but uh you know I'll go away from that uh we have the Dolphins at nine uh they did just lose to the bills last night um on a serious note uh two two tag of aloa did sustain a um really scary head injury uh I mean it it said took six minutes and they put him they announced that he had a concussion and two has got a really scary history of concussions I mean this is the four series head injury he's had in two years I mean he he ran into Demar hlin so that was a little bit of a weird situation like you know two breakable forces but uh you know Demar Hamlin came out right away and made a statement he didn't do it on purpose or anything it was just it's just the way of the game but um I mean with four injuries in two years to I mean I think it's you know the conversation of medically retiring has to be brought up I mean Ryland what do you think about that I I think I think you're completely right and I believe that almost all of the NFL fans NFL players they all agree with that I mean Twitter's blowing up with that conversation of should he retire should he you know continue to you know put his life at risk put his health at risk and I I know the sport is his life as it is every every major uh sports player in the world but your health is number one your health has to be your number one priority when playing sports it can't be you know oh let me let me go out here and you know I've already had three head injuries four head injuries uh it might not happen again let me just let me just go do this you know and it's it's important to make sure that you're you're safe and if if this keeps happening it's going to cause more issues down the road and I I think it' just be better if he you know takes a step back and considers retirement like I said Twitter is Twitter's blowing up about it there I have a tweet here from Dez briyan he said that's it NFL go ahead and do the right thing Tua has had entirely way too many concussions he needs to retire I know it's a a shaky subject uh when it comes to you know your life and your career but he's going to end up throwing his career away if he continues to play and continues to put his mind and his life at risk I mean I it's just it's a very interesting conversation because CTE is a real thing it's a real thing I mean we saw Antonio Brown um Chandler Jones I mean Aaron Hernandez I me those are three very famous cases that I mean then also I mean in the wrestling world we had Chris benois I mean it's a real real injury it's a real life Cher and you know the guy's only 26 years old he's a husband he's a father I don't want to see him you know just be brain dead by 35 I don't want to see that the dude's a great guy I mean Josh Allen came out uh at the postgame show and just talked about how like how awesome of a person Tua is I mean he said he's one of the nicest people he's ever met in his entire life so yeah I mean going off what Ryland said is it worth it is it worth throwing your life away for you know the game yeah I mean you look at Antonio Brown I don't I honestly don't think he's been the same since he sustained his injury he's like he's a completely different guy I I I personally don't like him H how he is now and how he's acted these past few years after the injury so I I would hate to see Tua go through something like that uh after hearing you know so many people say how great of a guy he is yeah um I don't know but I mean there was just something wrong that the whole game he just didn't look right I mean he threw three interceptions through a pick six I mean it looked like a will Levis interception sorry for the shade but that interception against the bills or against the Bears was just embarrassing throw it away man throw it away but um I don't know I mean just prayers for Tua you know prayers for the Dolphins you know all that prayers to TU and his family um got the Bengals at 10 I I think that's awful they they don't deserve to be in the top 10 you lost to the New England Patriots for God's sake I mean how how do you do that how Bengals you deserve to be 20 at this point that's embarrassing I don't even know what to say about you guys you you guys are just an embarrassment but um then we got the Packers at 11 I think they're going to go down I mean they got Malik Willis starting this week playing the Colts Colt are a good team it just sucks injuries suck I wish that there was an option in real life because I mean I know as a you know kid I used to play Madden franchise and I would go into the franchise and I'd turn injuries off I wish that was a real life thing because it would be so much more fun to watch seeing all the League's best talent playing each other you know with no risk of injury I I mean that's just a cool thing that I wish could happen happen but that's just not how life works but um yeah I'll flip it to the opposite side we got the um Panthers at 32 that's welld deserved they're awful as I said they don't even deserve to be a football and an NFL team the CFL may fit you better nah scratch that you could be a college team maybe like division 2 or something like that I mean for God's sake I think the Shippensburg Raiders could beat the Carolina Panthers like my God terrible but uh we got the Giants at 31 again terrible awful everyone should be fired Daniel Jones should be working at Raising Canes tomorrow trash I mean you drafted Malik neighbors and he's not even used not even used Daniel Jones you should be thrown in jail for high highway Rob robbery you rob the Giants of that contract and the Giants are also stupid for giving you that contract I mean how does that even happen you were never good you had one semi okay season and then you get this awesome big contract and then you've been trash ever since I think that the Giants just need to tear it all down and start over but uh got the Raiders at 30 sorry Ryland but I'm going to dig into them a little bit uh as you said Gard mitchu sucks you know yeah he's a you know cool act every once in a while he was it was cool seeing minu Mania when he was in Jacksonville with a nice mustache he's not a starting quarterback it's not a starting quarterback I mean you got seconde quarterback and no Connell why aren't you starting the young guy why do you not believe in him I mean G mitchu was a Bonafide backup and you gave him a contract if I were you I would trade Devonte Adams I I would start over offense l i mean you got good talent on defense you got a good for you know foundation with Christian Wilkins and um max Crosby but I mean the offense is just a disgrace I I I feel like we already tried to start over though and it didn't work so I don't really know where else to go from here but I definitely think it starts with maybe trading Devonte Adams figuring out a different quarterback because again Gardner muu is not not the guy for the job I don't know what it is with the Raiders and quarterbacks but I honestly think the Raiders decline started once they decided to get rid of khil mack one of the one of the best linebackers in the league and they just got rid of him uh you know I don't I I really don't know where else they can go from here but I I hope they turn it around in the next I don't know five years maybe hopefully got the Comm at 29 0 And1 I mean Jane Daniels look good you got I mean you got to protect the guy I he can't be running like that I mean yeah Lamar you know there's an argument if Lamar Jackson runs a lot but he knows how to protect himself I mean he knows how to get out of bounds get down Jaden Daniels I mean that was his problem in college was he would just run and you know didn't protect himself and what you going to last four weeks I mean you can't do that I mean they spent the second overall pick on you man then we got the Broncos 28 uh I don't I don't know I mean I think bonck has potential but I mean he just didn't look great in Seattle but big game against the Steelers I mean Steelers got a good defense too I mean you got to understand it all these defenses are good it's not college football anymore man but um quickly we got uh NFL power or NFL MVP rankings got Mahomes at one um I don't know if I I mean yes but no I mean stats were okay momes Josh Allen I think Josh Allen should be above Mahomes CJ Str again above Mahomes Jaylen Herz and Joe bur Joe burrow really really the guy that couldn't beat the Patriots no put Lamar Jackson up there put someone else up there come on really but uh uh diving into week 2 predictions for games as I said last night we had the uh bills just stomp on the Dolphins I mean the bills just own the Dolphins I mean Josh Allen's 13-2 against that team I mean that's almost like Tom Brady towards every other AFC e team when he was in you know in New England but got the Saints and the Cowboys that's a big game um Can Derek Carr replicate what he did last week I don't agree I don't think so because the Cowboys are better defense than the trash ass Panthers but um we got uh I'll go with the Cowboys I mean I think that every year they start the year on fire oh it's our year it's our year no it's not guys yeah I come come back down to earth I have the Cowboys as well um got the Ravens and the Raiders um Ravens home opener I think Baltimore stops them uh I think Baltimore is just a better team yeah unfortunately I agree uh we got the Giants and the commanders um I got the commanders I mean I was just talking about it the Giants let me down last week I picked you to beat the Vikings I had high expect expectations for you and you just blew him in every single possible way so I'm not picking you ever again now when we get to that game in Munich between the Giants and the Panthers later on the season I'm sorry Germany that is the worst NFL game I have ever seen how did they schedule that how but um yeah I'm going one with the commanders jayen Daniels boun bounce back game what' you have in that game ran I had the Giants oh I don't know man I just don't believe in the Giants but it's all just because they let me down last week I'm sorry but I'm mad uh got the Chargers and the Panthers uh that's an easy game I got the Chargers killing the Panthers as I said the Panthers are literally going to lose to the Shippensburg Raiders and the Shippensburg Raiders are not a good football team but neither are the Panthers so I'm going with the Chargers got the same thing got the Colts and the Packers now I think that this would have been a different game and I would have had a different pick if Jordan love didn't get hurt but um I'm going with uh Anthony Richardson the Colts I just don't believe in Malik Willis I mean maybe they just run the ball all game I don't know but uh yeah going with the Colts got the same thing there as well um got the 49ers in Vikings uh Sam darnold versus old team uh this game is interesting to note will mcaffrey play I mean he's been having some Achilles tontis I don't know I mean he's saying he's okay but you know he wasn't going to play last week and they advertised him as playing so I don't know but I mean I did just talk about how Jordan Mason was a great player and looked all good so I'm going with the 49ers I just think they're the better team Vikings are a decent team but the 49ers are a better team yep I agree got the 49ers as well got the Browns and the Jags um I got the Jags I mean I just think that the Browns are just too inconsistent as I said Deshawn Watson from Houston is just not there anymore I don't know who this quarterback is that they have but I mean he'd be better off just bringing Joe Flaco back I mean he let him to the playoffs you know he looked good but uh yeah I'm going with the Jags yep got the um Seattle Seahawks and the Patriots Super Bowl 49 um rematch I'm going with the Seahawks I just don't think New England replicates what they did Seahawks aren't bums like the Cincinnati Bengals but but uh sorry Bengals but that's just terrible how'd you lose them what'd you got R uh Seahawks yeah yeah got the Jets and the Titans um War Lis I mean you do know that you do play for the Tennessee Titans and that you know the players that you throw to are wearing your jersey not the other teams so uh I don't know I think the guy is just you know a little bit confused but I'm going with the Jets I mean I just think that second game back for Aaron Rogers he's going to get even more comfortable in that system so yeah I'm going with the Jets I agree uh got the Bucks and the Lions playoff rematch that's a good game it's a really good game going with the Lions though I just think the lions are too good I mean the Bucks are going to be in the playoffs too but I just think the lions are too good I agree I think like you mentioned last week that the lions are are like a dark horse playoff Super Bowl Contender um so I'm picking them for that reason um we got the Rams and the Cardinals nice NFC West um divisional matchup um I'm going to go with the Rams I just I don't like to go against the Rams yeah they did lose Thea but uh Matthew Stafford's just too good to bet against so yeah I'm going with the Rams also have the Rams I think they're kind of just like a Powerhouse with Matthew Stafford so um got the uh Broncos and Steelers I mentioned earlier I got the Steelers winning that yeah I also have the same thing again another Powerhouse team Steelers are really good offensively you know and defensively but uh I they got the tal on offense they'll pull it together but I got to give some credit to Chris Boswell I mean six field goals that's that's impressive man and I know it's we already went over his team but shout out to Jake Moody six field goals uh great job incredible stat got the Bengals and the Chiefs if this game was in week 14 be a closer game but since it's in the first three weeks Kansas City's going to whoop him uh Cincinnati just doesn't know how to play football in the first three weeks so yeah I'm going Kansas City I had the Chiefs circled but I kind of feel I I have that feeling that the Bengals are going to show up against the Chiefs so kind of hoping they do um I'm gonna I'm going to go against and say the Bengals and hopefully my manifestation of that will make them play better I mean yeah hopefully I hope they provve me wrong I mean I I like when there's when everyone's a good team and you know it's all just playful Jabs but I mean you just lost to the Patriots last week so like how can I pick you but uh yeah I'm still going with the Chiefs but uh we got Sunday Night Football we got Caleb Williams in the Bears versus CJ strad in the Texans um I'm going with the Texans I just think that they're a jug Orna they're just better than Chicago I mean I hope that Caleb blooms has a good game I hope it's a shootout it'd be awesome but I just think Houston's just a better team yeah I'm gonna I'm going to go with the Texans as well I mean CJ CJ strad balled out last last week so I expect him to do to do the same thing this week um and then the last game of the week we got the um Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles uh you know I preached last week about how I like the Falcons but the Eagles are a better team plus it's Prime Time Kirk it's not a one o00 Sunday game Kirk Cousins doesn't know how to play in prime time so uh I'm going with the Eagles they're at home I just I I have the Eagles winning saquon Barkley is going to run for two touchdowns yeah I got the Eagles I'm gonna go I'm going with the Eagles as well I mean this is like the real home opener for the Eagles right Eagles are at home yeah yeah so I'm gonna have to go with the Eagles I think uh the link is going to be bouncing especially with uh saquan Barkley um starting there for the first time so it's going to be an exciting game but I got the Eagles all righty well uh that's everything I got for football so I'll pass it over to Ryland for baseball all right so um I'm going to start my segment off with not really baseball but I'm going to you know do a fun fact like I did last week but it's about you know something that happened at College over the uh during the week on Monday uh my team block party beat the uh Kappa Sig volleyball team um for those of you that don't know Capa Sig is Andrew's volleyball team or uh not volleyball team it's Andrew's uh fraternity and we whooped him Michael was talking crap the entire time he told me to talk about this on the podcast so that's why I am but I just want to let everybody know that we kicked his butt um but you know all respect to Kappa Sig I love all the brothers there moving on to baseball I'm going to start my segment off with some Power Rankings got a couple things shifted here um so now sitting at number one uh moving up from number two is the Phillies 88 and 58 we just swept the Rays after splitting the series against the Marlins the rays are a good team not not the greatest but you know it was nice to get a sweep I think we're finally out of our slump we're number one in the league again so I think number one in the power rankings really great still got a couple things to Tinker with and figure out um still a little bit riddled with injur injuries I know Ruto is coming back soon uh bom should be out for a little longer um Kyle schwarber should be back I think today I think he might be coming back today um but today they start the series with the Mets huge series uh the Mets overtook the uh Braves in the NL East so now we're fighting with the Mets for that number one spot in the NL East to clinch the NL East title um but the magic number for the Phils is down to nine to clinch that so uh if we sweep this series against the Mets it'll be down to three to clinch the East so that'll be great that that would be great to see happen because then we play the brewers brewers are going to be a little bit of a tough matchup um but the MLB season's winding down um so I'm really hoping the Phillies can make that push they obviously I don't think they're not going to get a 100 wins unless they win the next you know 12 games um but anything can happen uh moving down from the list number two uh the Dodgers they were number one last week um but they're 87 59 they lost the Series against the Cubs uh Yamamoto came back after not pitching for three months he only threw four Innings but he struck out eight and he only allowed one run um so I think two is a really good spot for the Dodgers especially after losing that uh series to the Cubs but that doesn't mean that they're not still a Powerhouse um so and then and uh glass now should be back he just threw he's suppos he's scheduled to throw a three to four Innings of a simulated game so that should boost their uh their pitching and hopefully you know maybe take that number one seed in the playoffs when it comes that time uh sitting at number three uh staying at number three I should say is the Yankees sitting at 84 and 62 they finally brought up Jason Dominguez um so that's pretty exciting to see um but they also have another rookie I can't quite remember his name but he's also tearing it up for the Yankees um so I think three is a really good spot um number four staying at number four this week the Brewers 83 and 62 again like I said big series coming up with the Phillies uh towards the next starting next Monday um so I'm excited to see that again just because ree Hoskins is on the Brewers always love Rees um so I'm really excited for that matchup now the Guardians they snuck into the top five they were eight last week um so the Guardians are at number five 84 and 62 again another they're they're really exciting they're a really exciting team um so I'm excited to you know see how they do in the playoffs um now the Orioles went all the way down to number six they were third last week wait no they weren't they were they were fifth last week sorry so but they moved down a spot 83 and 64 um do you see a turnaround happening towards the end of the season here I know we I know we talk about it a lot but I mean yeah Orioles I don't 83 and 64 not a bad record but it could be better do do I I see a turn around and that's a tough question I'm going to say no and you know that's just me being straight up I I mean I just aty just look terrible second half of the Season Gunner's fine San de's good but just too much has happened too many injuries gordin Burns is just struggled I mean Zack effin can't carry the staff Albert sarez can't carry the staff and yeah we're going to make the playoffs but you know do I see us beating the Yankees or the guardians or the Astros no I don't I just think that they're they're better rounded teams and you know I I feel that yeah if we would have stayed healthy I think we would have had a much better chance I think we would have been the number number one team in the AL but no I I I don't see it I I I don't see a path past honestly the wild card I mean 15 games remaining do you even see them do you see them reaching 90 wins at least they got to win they got to go and they got to win at least seven games to get there so yeah I I could see them winning I mean let's look I mean they got they got the Tigers for three game set starting tonight uh they got the giants three game set and then they got the Tigers again and then the Yankees and the twins I mean I think that they could take the take the series against the Tigers the Giants hopefully take the series Tigers again I I I see them losing two out of one you know two out of three yeah Yankees that's for the division man I mean that Series in New York three game series I mean yeah I would love to be like oh my gosh we're going to go into New York and sweep him but I'd be delusional with how we've played the second half and how they've played I'd be delusional and then we got the twins twins are a good team so I mean I could see us topping at like 91 92 but uh I think the you know that's the ceiling and I think the the basement's probably 88 wins still making the playoffs but yeah just nowhere near what we were last year yeah I mean it sucks to be riddled with injuries so I mean but also I see them I I see them sweeping the Tigers I don't I don't really think Tyreek scoble is starting I'm looking at it and there's no there's no pitcher matchup I know Corbin's starting the second game of the series but um tonight it's still undecided for the Tigers pitcher and you got Zack effin starting tonight Ern starting tomorrow and then who's starting on poic on Sunday poic on yeah so I could definitely see you sweep in this series maybe on Sunday might be a little bit of a closer game doesn't seem like too much of a a pitcher duel but yeah know we shall see what happens um but going from 6 to 7 uh the Padre's are at seven they were sixth last week 82 and 65 um Astros sitting at number eight they were seven last week sitting at 77 and 68 I don't know if that record really gets you to the to the eighth spot in the power rankings but again have been tearing it up this second half of the of the season so I can I can respect it I guess uh the dback staying at number nine at 82 and 64 and the Royals sneaking into the top 10 at 80 and 67 so Royals like I said watch out for them they're they're they're a good team especially with Bobby Whit Jr so all right I'm going to move into some news now not not too much on the baseball side here not not not too much going on so um but a couple couple things um so first off I want to talk about uh Luis arise he hasn't struck out in a month in a 28 game span he has not struck out once is this a Reincarnation of Tony Gwyn like this that's absolutely insane I knew he was a good hitter obviously he almost batted with a 400 average last season so but to not strike out once when I played Little League I think I struck out every single like every single at bat you know he's facing MLB pitchers and he's not striking out he's making contact he's walking I want to see how long this goes on for because like I said it's just absolutely incredible um moving on uh Chio for the Brewers he's now the youngest player to have a 2020 season 20 home runs 20 stolen bases it's phenomenal um anytime you can hit I believe he's a rookie still um but anytime you can hit you know he's batting 272 obviously 20 home runs 20 stolen bases um 71 RBI not bad whatsoever um for a rookie um to help out the Brewers I'm I'm sure he's been a huge help um and one of the reasons that they're sitting at you know number four in the power rankings yeah I mean I mean I think that Jackson cheio has just you know been exactly what the Brewers needed I mean yeah Yelich was playing good until he went down but they needed that young spark and um he's just been really impressive to watch this season I mean we got him Jackson Merill from the from the Padre's and Jackson holiday the triple Jacksons this League's in great hands great hands um moving on now uh Jacob deg Grom news uh he's set to make his debut tonight after uh Tommy John surgery he hasn't pitched since April 28th of 2023 uh he's a dominant pitcher that's just been riddled with injuries and you know if he if he hasn't been injured so much I think you know strong case for probably the best pitcher in Major League history so but again he returns tonight for the Rangers I'm expecting you know he's a durable guy when it comes to going long but I don't think he goes more than five innings tonight but I think he strikes out a [ __ ] ton of batters you know he's got he's got nasty nasty stuff movement on his off speed pitches is amazing and pair that with 100 mile per hour fastball I think he's going to be a great uh addition to this uh late season push for the Rangers um on the injury side Cory Seager is out for the rest of the season with a sports hernia devastating for the Rangers always loved Cory Seager made sure he was always on my MLB the Show team um he's a great power hitter any bats any hits for contact so he's batted 278 this season with 30 home runs and 74 RBI to have a 30 home run hitter go out for the rest of the season especially towards the end of the season when you're making a push for the playoffs it's very upsetting and very devastating so hopefully the Rangers can work around that a bit um you know Otani hello this guy's just in incredible he's on route for a 50/50 season now 50 home runs 50 stolen bases he's sitting at 47 home runs and 48 stolen bases with about 15 games to go does he does he reach it what do you think Andrew yeah I I think he reaches it I mean I think he's in the in the realm with possi I mean this is Optimist you know optimistic thinking but could he possibly do 55 55 I mean yeah I mean I remember when he hit the 4040 and it was like a big deal and he just blew that out of the water and now he's you know on the word you know right around to hit 50/50 but uh yeah I think he definitely hits it I agree I um that'd be incredible if he does be very exciting if he does so you know he's only three and two away so I I see him getting there probably by the end of next week um kind of a interesting little tidbit here but uh Blue Jays Bowen Francis lost another no hit bid by allowing a ninth inning Home Run for the second time in three weeks I don't even know who this guy is and he's thrown eight Innings of no hit ball who's this guy who is he can the Phillies sign him is he is he gonna be a free agent in the off season I'd love to get him um but you know against the Mets eight Innings no hits in the ninth inning and comes back out in the ninth inning and Lindor just smashes the ball smashes it um and then against the Angels again eight Innings no hit ball Taylor Ward from the Angels smashes it demolishes it ends the no hit so but man dominant pitching but apparently this guy sucks in the ninth inning if he's if he's ever not a starting pitcher anymore and he's in the bullpen don't put this guy as your closer I'm telling you don't put him as the closer he's gonna he's going to let up a home run in the ninth inning so that that would not be good I didn't know you were talking about Craig Kimbrell oh I hate that guy so going back to my Phillies a little bit in the Series against the Blue Jays benches cleared Nick casianos got hit by a pitch by Edwin useta Bry Harper why didn't you punch the guy seriously you were running right at him that's fnps blah blah blah yelling at the guy and then you just slow walk over to him while yelling at him you should have knocked him out now Bryce did say that he would have fought the pitcher had he turned around towards him he didn't Bryce quote unquote said he didn't want to look like a loser from coming behind the guy I understand that but you know would have been nice to see a nice Bryce fight I mean hey I mean you remember the Bryce and Hunter Strickland fight I mean how could we forget that I mean I think he's just grown maturely oh I I think he's 100% matured but you know I haven't seen a fight in baseball and I think since Tim Anderson and Ramirez down goes Anderson down goes Anderson one of the best quoted lines in MLB history when it comes to fights on the field I love that love the energy from that announcer love that moment you know obviously I don't want to see people get hurt but I'm a I'm a hockey fan so I love seeing people fight I think just let them add it let them add it I mean yeah it'd be cool to watch as a fan but you got to realize we're down in the last 15 games you get in a fight you're going to get suspended you're going to get fined I mean the fines really aren't a big deal but for them at least but you know is it worth getting suspended you know and missing games down the stretch where you know you're looking to get the number one seed I don't think so yeah I mean you said it was was suspended three games uh for intentionally throwing at ni castiano and Nick said that and this is I watched johnboy media's um YouTube video on the breakdown he did like a 12-minute breakdown on this love that guy love his videos shout out to johnboy um but Nick casano said he had a feeling as soon as he stepped into that box that he was going to get drilled and you know it all it all built up for useta that anger uh because we scored five runs in that inning off of him and dude had a 75 ER coming into that game so obviously understandably frustrated but you don't have to throw at the guy I don't think Nick did anything to you so but like I said it's all pass now so um that's all I have for baseball um you want to do some C losing
