season 42 of Wheel of Fortune premieres Monday with an updated set and a brand new face so what else is in store I'm glad you asked Kelsey because we got the scoop from Vanna White and Ryan Crest who tell Will Mar Fuji why joining America's game was a no-brainer if Wheel of Fortune is offered to you you do not say no it's just like you just don't say no you will have bad karma for the rest of your TV life I promise you let's take this thing for a spin this is such a part of American culture I grew up watching Wheel of Fortune I loved playing the game and it's a fun game people can play along to and it's family fun what was your reaction when you found out that Ryan was going to be you know in the mix and then got the job right I was actually in Italy when I I remember exactly where you were when we texted you know Pat decided to retire after 41 years and God bless him well the time has come to say goodbye it's been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night year after year decade after decade and when they said Ryan's going to be the next one I said great cuz he's so talented he's so professional he's so good at what he does I'm so thankful thank you it's not Wheel of Fortune without van white go Ryan go and we've known each other for a long time so we've had a friendly relationship for two decades oh all right so which America may not know so there wasn't really much of a like feeling out process as far as the chemistry and the relations let's get you ready for oh two Southerners known each other for a while wanted to go out to dinner and have southern food do you remember what the southern food was chicken and dumpling you both make it look so easy well you're never going to find a better job and you're never going to find a better co-host I mean I'm sure you talked to Pat about taking over we traded messages as soon as the deal was done and we had a chance to be on set all of us together for a while he said you're going to love meeting the three contestants every night you're going to love just giving away a lot of cash and prizes I mean this is something that is lifechanging for everybody on the show and has so much meaning and it's true I would love to have the kind of Legacy that uh Pat has had and Pat and Van have had on this show did you get a first aid like first aid Jitters I did you did I had fortunately rehearsed quite a bit so I think when it got to day one I was anxious to go and to to make it real right the set looks a little bit different everything's got a little bit of an update I think you still feel like it's the same place it's just a little updated does that make sense it's true I we had the the the remodel budget I love the way that we get to start the show we enter straight through these doors front and center um and just get going fast right into the game I think that brings an energy to the top of the show I am so happy for our buddy Ryan C he's done it all of course but this is such an iconic show for him it's good to see him it's fabulous congrats Ryan and you can catch the season 42 premiere of Wheel of Fortune on Monday September night [Music]
