Kyra Olsen - University of Iowa Recruitment

hi my name is Kira Olsen I'm from San Diego California and I'm extremely excited to be rushing at UI this fall through Authority I'm looking to gain a sense of Sisterhood and friendship through all of the new girls that I meet I'm thrilled to be given the chance to join such an impressive community of women uplifting women and be able to create lifelong connections through my sority I'm hoping to get involved in any leadership opportunities as well as event planning as that's one of my passions I'm also hoping to feel supported when stepping outside of my comfort zone as well as being able to grow in my own personal way I'm hoping to find a sense of belonging in my sorority as well as a home away from home type of feel I have positively impacted my community by mostly working with the kids um I find passion in working with our younger generation so my senior year of high school I was selected to be an ambassador so that me I would go to different elementary schools and hang out with the kids and teach them the character traits which included respect responsibility caring honesty and a few more and through this I was able to become a role model for these young kids which is a position I hold very close to my heart um alongside this I've been playing softball since I was five and um I've ever since then been trying to give back to my local Recreation League so I've done this through coaching Nike softball camps skills clinics and giving pitching lessons to hopefully feed into the passion of these young girls on top of that I have been a camp counselor for all four years of high school for my local Lutheran Church that I attend as well as my local animal Humane Society to hopefully help out these young kids and create fun and meaningful experiences for them which I like to do throughout my community which is why I believe I was so drawn to the stories at the University of Iowa I'm thrilled to be given an opportunity to be a part of something that will last far beyond my four years at Iowa and for the rest of my life so thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video I'm so so excited to rush and I can't wait to meet you all soon go Hawks
