No matter who you root for in hockey, he was the kind of player you build a team around. Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were the kind of guys you build families around. Johnny Gaudreau was his name. You could call him Johnny Hockey. Everybody did. It's a nickname, a style, an image that few have the talent to live up to. But so talented was Johnny Gaudreau. When he stepped onto the ice, he was a goal. A he did what highlight waiting to happen. The guys that you dream of having on your team at Boston College, Johnny skated alongside his brother Matthew. Johnny was a national champion and the Hobey Baker winner awarded to college hockey's best player. The best was a title Johnny was used to, no matter the team. Part of the reason Johnny was so good. Not Greg and myself here, but the younger brother pushing him hard like that. So it was. It was a fun dynamic to watch. Dynamic was the Gaudreau style. Johnny brought it from Calgary to Columbus, an all star for the blue Jackets. There, a memorial grows for the brothers outside the arena, where Gaudreau electrified fans and back in Boston. There, college coaches, like the rest of the hockey world, are at a loss for words. Feel grateful that I got to know them at all and got to work with them, but I feel so bad for their family. They're such a tight knit family. The Goudreau's and they were at every game such a close family. Johnny signed a massive deal to play in Columbus. You know, the Devils and the Islanders both tried to sign him. Then Matthew played parts of his minor league career in the Islanders system. And all of hockey right now is feeling this loss, this gaping hole left in this community. And Gilma most importantly with this family that was so tight, so devastating. John, we are
