[Music] what was the first moment when you decided you wanted to pursue public service and politics as as a profession you know what I think I always knew I would be in public service I I just love people you know was raised in a family where I was taught that it was my responsibility to care for my neighbors um to care for others and so this has been so much joy I've had the 27 years I started as a domestic violence prosecutor but I decided to run for office when my own daughter who was four years old I looked around and thought you know what she's growing up in a place that doesn't feel quite like the one I grew up in where I could play outside without a concern for safety but you know what I felt different about Alex I had a friend who said to me you know what well if you're concerned about it don't talk about it you know don't if you don't plan to change it let's never talk about it again and that was the moment I decided I was going to run for public office and did so with a four-year-old child that had never run for office before had never raised a dime and uh and decided to just go out as a mom ran ran for office was elected and I've been serving our families ever since then
