MARK, I CAN SMELL THE SMOKE AND I CAN SEE THE ASH FALLING AND CLEARLY. >> MARK, YOU CAN SEE THE FIRES BEHIND ME ON THIS HILLSIDE. LET ME SET THE SCENE FOR YOU. WE ARE OFF OF GRANT AVENUE IN LAKE ELSINORE, ADJACENT TO SEVERAL HOMES IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE PEOPLE ARE WATCHING THIS FIRE RIGHT NOW. TONIGHT, THEY ARE NOT UNDER A MANDATORY EVACUATION YET. THIS FIRE IS OUT OF CONTRO. MASSIVE FLAMES DESTROYING HOMES AND STRUCTURES AS WILDFIRES SPREAD ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. FIREFIGHTERS STRUGGLING TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES ON THE GROUND AND FROM THE AIR. CAL FIRE, ESTIMATING MORE THAN 19,000 ACRES HAVE BURNED FROM THE AIRPORT. FIRE WITH ZERO CONTAINMENT. LOOK AT THIS DRAMATIC RESCUE AS CREWS RUSHED TO THIS WOMAN'S AID AS A WALL OF FLAMES CLOSE IN. THE FIRE SPARKING MONDAY IN ORANGE COUNTY. ACCORDING TO FIREFIGHTERS, A PUBLIC WORKS CREW WAS USING EQUIPMENT OFF TRABUCO CREEK ROAD THAT SET THE AREA ABLAZE. 3500 HOMES UNDER EVACUATION ORDERS IN THE OC, AMOUNTING TO ABOUT 24,000 PEOPLE FORCED TO LEAVE. ACCORDING TO FIREFIGHTERS, THE RAPID MOVING FIRE NOW STRETCHING INTO RIVERSIDE COUNTY, WHERE CREWS ISSUED MANDATORY EVACUATIONS FOR 3500 HOMES. WE'RE JUST WATCHING IT, YOU KNOW, TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. >> THEY GET IT UNDER CONTROL AND WE WON'T HAVE TO LEAVE. BUT WE'RE PREPARED. JUST IN CASE. >> IN LAKE ELSINORE, ROBYN SMITH IS NERVOUS. SHE SAYS HER HUSBAND SPRAYED DOWN THEIR ROOF TO REMOVE ANY DEBRIS THAT COULD IGNITE THE FIRE. >> IT'S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. >> NEIGHBORS HERE REMEMBER THE 2018 WILDFIRE THAT DESTROYED PROPERTY IN THE AREA? THE AIRPORT FIRE NOW HITTING CLOSE TO HOME. PEOPLE ARE PARKED HERE ALONG GRAND AVENUE AND LAKE ELSINORE TO WATCH THESE MASSIVE FLAMES BURN THE HILLSIDE. THE FACT THAT IT'S ACTUALLY COMING DOWN THE HILL VERSUS MOST FIRES WILL BURN UP THE HILL. >> IT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU ONLY REALLY SEE IN LAKE ELSINORE. >> STEPHEN HARWOOD AND HIS FAMILY ARE UNDER A MANDATORY EVACUATION, BUT THEY'RE STAYING PUT FOR NOW. WE HAVE OUR GO BAGS ALREADY AT HOME. >> WE HAVE ALL OF OUR VALUABLES PACKED UP AND EVERYTHING SO THAT WHEN THE TIME DOES COME, WE GET THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR. WE'RE OUT. OUR FAMILY IS GOING TO BE SAFE AND READY TO ROCK AND ROLL. >> ROBYN IS STAYING TOO. THE EVACUATION FOR HER NEIGHBORHOOD IS VOLUNTARY. YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE THE FLAMES FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR. AT WHAT POINT WILL YOU LEAVE? >> I THINK ONCE YOU KNOW, THE POLICE COME AND TELL US IT'S TIME TO LEAVE. I THINK THAT'S WHEN WE'LL PROBABLY BE LEAVING. >> AND YOU ARE TAKING A LIVE LOOK AT ALL OF THESE FIRES BURNING THIS HILLSIDE. SEVERAL SHELTERS HAVE BEEN SET UP FOR PEOPLE AND LARGE ANIMALS. THIS FIRE IS ALSO IMPACTING THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
