so today is the first day of striking by hotel workers Nationwide we have over 10,000 workers um that are striking in Boston we have about a little bit over 900 just now we have people striking in Hawaii Baltimore uh Seattle San Diego San Francisco um multiple other um cities around the US so the strike right now is about Better Living wages for hotel workers better health insurance uh better pension also to fix the Do Not Disturb issues in housekeeping uh where hotels are are charging you guys charging the guests to not um get their rooms cleaned and then also severance pay in hiring we're striking at multiple hotel chains including Hilton Marriott hayatt and Omni so ever since Co when it comes to working in hotels they've cut down and are squeezing all our members we've seen the numbers go down as far as employees working but then the rate skyrocketing so you have a lot of members that are doing double the work and aren't seeing their wages go up we're asking for a $10 raise and even with that $10 raise that we're asking for in the four in the next four years by inflation numbers we would still be considered poor as a as a hotel worker in the next four years so we're asking for a contract that is a modest contract and the hotels are not applying to that all they're worried about is their shareholders and making them the millions that they get every single year while we're just trying we're trying to survive we want it if we don't get it
