Let's switch gears and talk about winter because guess what? The top story at WQ ad.com has been the last couple of days. Yeah, the Farmers Almanac. The folks there have released their winter forecast for 2024 and 2025. How accurate though? Has that been for us here in the quad cities? Well, let's sit on this graphic for a minute because there's a lot going on. It's a lot of data I had to dig through this last night. The bottom line is in terms of the accuracy of that forecast since 2013. For us here in the quad cities. It hasn't been that great. Green check marks are where the forecast verified with what they were calling for. The red X's where the forecast did not match what they were calling for. For example, take a look at last winter. Their prediction for the quantities was cold and stormy. Well, it was stormy. We had above average snowfall but it was not cold. It was seven degrees warmer than average, which is a huge deal. Take a look at the winter before it too. Snow filled, very cold. That winter was 4.5 degrees warmer than average. And we had 16 less inches of snow that didn't verify. Well, so overall, if you do the math on this have a 54% accuracy rate on temperature, not bad. A little more than half. But for snowfall, it's only 36%. So I wouldn't put too much stock in the snowfall. Forecast. Temperatures are usually a little easier to guess an estimate and forecast snow. On the other hand, totally has a mind of its own, very difficult to forecast.
