mean chris and crystal they were at one time sad skinny strays who came here to accomplish a juvenile detention where they found love caring and rehabilitation from troubled youth youth who are learning caring and responsibility for other living creatures i get up in the morning and i go feed them and all of it and when before i go to sleep that night i feed them and we clean the cage twice a day feed them twice a day one sixteen-year-old boy here who helped train chris says he's learning i can't understand how the dogs feel i'm not gonna i can understand whenever they're scared and frightened because some of the dogs that was abused before they came to the program just helping me understand this i got a role in life it will be hard to say goodbye it's gonna hurt me because i kind of bonded with this one that the dogs are going to the loving home of newlyweds stephen and krista gainey said a few weeks ago we visited them for the first time and we just fell in love with them and they're perfect you know for our lifestyle stephen is the soldier who's just returned home from a 15-month tour in afghanistan and for him the dogs represent the start of a happy family i'm hoping that these uh having these two will increase you know the happiness level that i already have and you know create just a great home family situation coordinator bez gilbert says youth who are learning empathy that will serve them in their dealings with people the training program here uses only positive reinforcement and rewards there's no punishment hands are only allowed to be used for giving out treats and love and you can see that the kids in the program are learning that that's a new way to solve all the problems in their lives not just how to get a dog to fit and so chris and crystal steve and krista had the fourth pole where he's stationed thankful for their new family additions and a program that represents hope for future pets and troubled youth at your service in late charles theresa schmidt kplt 7 news
